The music was mostly excellent though there were a few times they were letting guests play the piano in the foyer and that was not enjoyable. Had dinner here tonight. We had a half pitcher of sangria, it was not very strong, but had good flavor. The bread was warm, fresh and soft. Score. I ordered two tapas. The Island Salmon and the Baby Lamb Chops. The flavor of the salmon was good. The sauce it was served with, was yummy. The lamb chops were a little on the greasy/fatty side, but had good flavor as well. I tasted some of the lobster and beans, it was tasty. The sauce it was prepared in, was amazing. First, I must admit the food was divine and we enjoyed it very much. The rest of our experience, unfortunately, left much to be desired. We were ushered in off the sidewalk with the promise of a Flamenco show. We were inside over two and a half hours, and then were encouraged to leave before the show started as we had finished dinner and were taking up seats they could re-sell to the next round of customers. We had five waiters in that time period, yet none of them seemed to be able to serve us consistently or keep our drinks filled. With the prices they charged, we should have invested our dollars and time more wisely in a better dining experience elsewhere. read more

We stopped by here for lunch while touring around Old San Juan. The 3 of us ordered the paella and the server informed us it would take 40 minutes or so to make. Since we weren't too hungry yet we didn't mind and they provided us with bread to help fill our stomachs a little bit while we waited. When the paella came out it looked great. It had nice flavor and the portion was pretty generous, but then again I'd expect that for it cost $29. I was disappointed in the amount of seafood though. We booked a dinner reservation via email with Manuel for new year's Eve. First time in PR and didn't want to be stuck on a holiday with nothing. So happy we did this. Paella triana was great and more than enough for 2. Manuel clued us in thank goodness. Show started at 9 with hilarious guitarist and lovely dancers. Manuel moved us up to front row seat when another guest was late. Really enjoyed everything! Highly recommend. Prices reasonable. Service fantastic. Food quite good. This place had really interesting dishes, and everything tasted good. Plus the location is great. But the food took for-ev-er to come out. We ordered before 5 p.m. (i.e., early in the evening) and didn't get our paella until 6 p.m. We had just toured the fortresses and were totally exhausting and starving and just wanted some food. Obviously we shouldn't have ordered the paella, but it still took much longer than we had anticipated. Our server Scott (Scott?) was very nice. Also, for some reason the restaurant was freezing. Like, probably 60 degrees F. This is refreshing for the first few minutes. However, since it was in the 80s outside and we were wearing tank tops and had no warm clothes whatsoever, it soon became punishing. Our solution was to take shifts sitting outside, allowing warmth to seep into our frozen bones. We missed the live music by a half hour. Came to Restaurant Triana due to lack of finding restaurants. We were pretty much persuaded to come inside by the lady dressed as a flamenco dancer outside telling my family about the restaurant. We thought "why not?" and went inside. We were seated by the live music. TIP TO THE RESTAURANT: turn it down a little! The music was so loud we couldn't even hear each other talk. It was more about the performance than the food at Restaurant Triana. Don't get me wrong, the guitar player was amazing but the volume was up a little too loud. The flamenco dancers were great, but a little risqué for a family restaurant. We ordered the Squid Ink Paella to share with the whole family. The Squid Ink Paella was great, it was a little on the dry side. Portions were HUGE!! We being a family of 4 could barley finish the dish. I do recommend it as it seemed to be the best thing on the menu. I loved the little bits of baby octopus in the paella too. We made reservations for 2 for 8P because we were told the Flamenco show started at 830p. Never seen a flamenco show but My wife and I were down for dinner and entertainment so we tried it. The restaurant was nice, clean and cozy. My wife had the skirt steak with tostones which she rates 4.5 the steak was missing flavor. I had the Lobster Mofongo and gave it 4 missing more flavor for me as well. As for the show we both gave it 5 because the Flamenco player, who we found out he is world famous, and dancers were better than expected as we were thoroughly entertained. This is a tapas bar & restaurant as well as flamingo entertainment in the evening. We had lunch when the restaurant was fairly empty (our luck) on a day with 2 cruise ships in dock. We had a cesear salad (pass on this), seafood tapas which was wonderful and chicken mufungo which was fantastic. All food is freshly prepared so don't rush as it is worth the weight. We have never had Puerto Rican food before so we decided to give it a try at Triana. We started off with some very tasty piña coladas, and decided to stay awhile to watch the flamenco show. Although Juan Carlos is quite expressionless, he is extremely talented and it blew me away. For the main course, my husband had the shrimp mofongo and I had the crab mofongo. They were both quite bland and uninspiring, but the shrimp mofongo had a bit more flavor. It wasn't very busy while we were there, but our waiter was hard to find and we had to wait a long time for the bill. Overall, the show was cool but the food is not worth eating. read more

I was on a cruise and had been wandering through San Juan when my husband and I decided to head back to the ship to get dinner. However, there was a lady standing outside a restaurant with menus and was telling us about the food. We decided to head in and try it out. I had the shrimp mufongo and a sangria. Came here after walking around Old San Juan a few times. We were intrigued after hearing the flamenco music and seeing dancers inside. For my bf and my date night on vacation we decided to try this place- it looks so charming and we wanted to see the live performances. Unfortunately for us, that night was the night they didn't have the performances but we could see parts of their practicing! We had the tapas sampler which was a lot of food for two people! The food was very tasty and we enjoyed it very much. Although we missed the live performances that day, there was a very cheerful and lively ambiance. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. If you have a large appetite or are coming with a few people, get the sampler. Oh my goodness. Avoid this place at ALL COSTS!!!!! We were here for over two hours and never even got our food. The place was filthy and there were gnats everywhere. If my friends and I weren't starving, we would've left immediately! The service was extremely slow and awful. We had to hunt down our server and when we finally found her, we saw four other people with the same issue waiting on their check. One girl was distraught because she was about to miss her flight. I had mixed experiences at Triana. I went there for the first time in March with my parents. We sat downstairs to watch the Flamenco show and were very impressed. Service, food and ambiance were all great. On my second visit, I stopped by with a larger group (family and boyfriend). Service, food and ambiance were just ok. One of the servers took my CC home (by accident) and we had to wait for her to come back. In return, we received complimentary coffee drinks, which were not even good. Not sure what happened.
