I have been contemplating a different cut either a pixie or a pixie bob fur a while. Josie took a lot of time going through my ideas with me, and even though I opted for just a trim on my first visit I decided to go for a slightly longer pixie at my second visit. Josie took things a little at a time constantly checking in with me to see if I wanted to go shorter. She didn't just start cutting based on the pic I showed her. Well, I wasn't sure at first. I have really been through it with stylist since I moved to Reno from Los Angeles. I find that a lot of stylists use thinning sheers instead of rasor cuts here. Feels like they are stuck in the 80s. Josie is wonderful here! She can cut my thick, curly hair with a razor and it instantly looks more fashionable. She has flawlessly helped me go from black hair to bright mermaid colors WITHOUT damaging my hair! I decided to try the Tribe Salon since all the great reviews. What a let down. I got a root touch up and trim for $120.00. Got home and notice hair not covered and globs of gray still showing. One of the worst cuts in my life. This is a wanna be chic salon, the hair dressers are inexperienced (shaky hands when cutting hair ) and need to go back to school or drastically lower their prices. About the same result as you would get from Ulta Hair dresser for alot more money. I am assuming there are lots of phony yelp reviews since this place is not the It place. Dahlia is AMAZING. I just moved to Reno and was looking for a new stylist and came across Dahlia's Instagram. I immediately knew she was the stylist for me. She didn't use any crazy editing tools on her photos, her clients all looked amazing and she had so much experience as a stylist. I had a great experience from start to finish. The space of the salon is beautiful and open. I felt very uplifted while there, and Josie, my stylist, did a great job. The products she used on my hair smelled so good. She listened attentively to what I wanted to do with my hair and provided a game plan of how we would get there. I cut my hair from shoulder length to a pixie, so a game plan helped alleviate some of the shock as my locks were falling to the floor. The other staff there were also very friendly; I was offered tea or coffee upon arriving, allowing me to feel extra pampered. I love Tribe Salon! I've been getting my hair done here by Gabby for almost a year now. She does an absolutely amazing job every time. I trust her so much with my hair that I basically just let her do her thing, and I always leave happy. I have medium brown hair but have been dying it blonde for a while now, and every time Gabby is done with me, you would never know what my natural hair color is. First thing first- you are never gonna walk out of here unhappy about your color. Mine was great,but... My artist was late to our appointment.That was the first thing that put me in a bad mood.When a process of getting blonder takes about 4 hours,and you have your schedule planned for the day,every minute is very important . Second thing really ruined my whole experience. I work in similar business,but when I was told that I should have a haircut after getting blonder like this,I was really upset. Stylist didn't bother asking me when was my last haircut(it was 9 days before this appointment), or maybe checking if I have more time available. I was raised to be polite so I said I'm sorry but I don't have time for that. I thought I won,but... She goes I'll dry it and then cut some ends . When somebody is very persistent there's not much you can do. Couple moments later she started cutting. Not even asking what my preferences my style and shape of hair is. At this point I just wanted to get it over with and walk out of the salon. At the end I didn't mind a haircut but I really mind and the fact. I just want to say Monique was amazing!!! I just had an itch to do my hair that day and found this place on yelp and they were able to accommodate me so last minute which I already appreciated. I have such trust issues with my hair. I have different hair and it's not easy find a person who can really work my hair. Monique asked me a lot of questions about my hair and how I treat it and how I want it for the future and gave me advice on how to take care of it because of the texture. I had forgotten how great it feels to have a really really good cut. Wake up in the morning. Run your fingers through it and go walk the dog without frightening the neighbors. Take a shower, blow it dry, looks great. Wash and condition, air dry, looks great. I just cannot seem to have a bad hair day. Monique is a very thoughtful stylist. This was my first time coming here from the moment I step in I was greeted by the friendly staff. The salon itself was beyond clean and modern with a very relaxing atmosphere. I made an appointment to get a Keratin treatment and a trim at first I wasn't too sure if I wanted to put my hair through so much but I was tired of my hair being so frizzy and untamable. It was a Saturday and the place was bustling with almost every chair filled. It felt fun and electric but also gave me great confidence in my choice of Tribe Salon. Now to Molly: I LOVED my time in her chair! I don't know if she sensed my nervousness (spoiler alert - I've had some bad experiences!) but she immediately put me at ease with the way she listened to what I wanted and talked with me about my needs.
