Peri Peri chicken wrap. Light on chicken & flavour.
    Adam B.

I was excited to find this spot because I do love Nando's in the UK. For those not familiar with Peri Peri chicken, its a South African sort of bbq and a spicy pepper sauce that is what to Europeans as Chipotle is to Americans. (aka ... they can't get enough of it.) Unfortunately, my hopes and dreams of a Nando's replacement in the US were dashed when I ordered here and a tiny, dry and bland feast awaited me. First of all, they offer hot, medium and mild. We ordered medium and mild. The mild was basically naked ... if there was any sauce, a microscope would need to find it. The medium was what I would call mild. Not much spicier than Taco Bell's sauce of the same name. The chicken itself was tiny. I am generally a pretty big appetite sort of guy, but this sandwich was more or less what I'd consider a snack. It was all bun, lettuce and very little chicken. The chicken there was dry. The fries were the best part of the meal ... basically bagged fries with a sprinkle of spices and salt on them. If you don't like salty ... you won't like these. You get a mountain of fries ... but the smallest size they have is over $5. A half size would have done. Overall, we won't be back. Not even worth a second try for us. The 3 star average rating is actually being generous. I see a lot of people do like it, so I'm not going to 2-star the business, even though that's how I'd honestly rate the food. If you are a light eater and have never been to a proper Peri Peri chicken place in Europe, you might not hate it. College students will eat anything.

Tribos was really good. If you've ever tried nandos, this place is very similar. Down to the toothpick with the temperature on it and the sides. Would definitely come back. My singular downside was that the only cheese option was American. At other Peri Peri places, they also have options like halloumi, and that was the only thing I really felt like I was missing here. Never doubt the love of halloumi. The service was great, and everything was clean, although there seem to be way more takeout orders, than people eating in.

I wanted to try this place since its relatively new, right off Thayer street and because I think I had something similar in the past. It was late on a weekday so it was just me and my friend there. I went with the chicken bowl (mild spice level) and a side of corn on the cob so I can get a little taste of everything. We sat down right in front of the TV and watched Bob Ross paint spectacular canvases throughout our entire meal. I thoroughly enjoyed that they had this passive channel on; it was relaxing. The meal itself was good and tasty, but it wasn't too impressive. It was healthy, especially for a late night meal. The bowl included a few chunks of grilled chicken, with a mild sauce drizzled on top. I probably could have went with the next level of spice and been fine but mild was comfortable. The rice was probably my favorite part. I think it had anise and some other aromatic spices. The salad was simple, with lettuce, tomatoes, corn, and onion but really gave the plate a fresh component. The corn was good but it was not anything special, especially for $4. I think it was just grilled with butter.

The restaurant has a good amount of tables and the decor is nice. We have been to this restaurant at least two or three times. We had lunch here because it's a halal restaurant and a quick bite. However it wasn't up to our expectations specially since we have had different Peri Peri experiences across the US & Canada. Personally the taste was bland we had to use a lot of their sauces to give it more flavour. The portion and price on the other hand were very decent.

Ordered the full chicken with two sides platter. TLDR: Went when they opened a year+ ago, terrible. Owner recently reached out, tried again, and I might be a regular now. Long review: The food is so, so wonderful. The chicken is juicy, seasoned perfectly, portions are reasonable. Fries? Best I've had. I will literally go here just for the fries. Corn was standard. Water isn't free, they use bottled. Maybe I need to ask explicitly for glass water? Why not 5 stars? First visit, portions were bland chicken nuggets. Gyros were tiny and expensive. Recent reviews also state small portions, was this a one off?

Tribos Crispy Peri Peri Chicken Wrap

Child says fries are really good, crispy chicken wrap was average. Did not give us the sauces they said they would which had the potential to make the wrap better.

A friend and I came in and put our names on the waitlist, waited for about 45 minutes at a bar down the street, and then had some of the most fulfilling tapas ever! We got a Prosciutto & Salpicao board, the Queijo de Cabra, and Frijol Dip. I also got a nice portuguese red wine that paired well with some of the cheese we received. We sat in a very sweet and cozy nook and enjoyed every minute! I will be back when it's warm out and the front patio is open!

You can really taste the family influence and authenticity behind every dish -- it feels like home, but with a fun twist. The Prego no Pão is one of my favorites -- perfectly seasoned steak on soft bread with that classic Portuguese comfort, but elevated in a way that keeps me coming back. We also can't get enough of the seafood dishes -- especially the paella and grilled octopus -- and the chouriço always brings that familiar Portuguese flavor I grew up with. The small plates are perfect for sharing, and trying different things each time has been so much fun. Plus, the touches of Mexican flavor throughout the menu just make my heart happy. The cocktails are always a hit -- fresh, flavorful, and so well-balanced. On top of all that, the décor is beautiful, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the touches of their family history all over make it so charming. Everything from the food to the drinks to the overall vibe is just excellent. Great addition to the city and one of our favorite spots I will add I have also gone with a baby, and while it's not stroller friendly they staff were very kind and patient with a baby learning to eat and making a little bit of a mess

I'll be honest, they didn't look like much at first, but one bite in and I was sold. Perfectly grilled, simple, and that pimento sauce was absolutely bomb. For the main event, we "split" the paella for one... which turned out to be a feast. We powered through and finished every last piece of rice because it was sooooo good. And dessert? Passionfruit mousse. I don't even like passion fruit, but this was hands-down the best mousse I've ever had in my life. The restaurant itself has a quirky, endearing vibe, kind of like walking into a summer party at your grandma's house, complete with fun, kitschy touches. It somehow transports you to old-school southern Spain but maybe that's just me. Jury's still out on the house wine, but with food this good, I'd come back in a heartbeat. Still gets a 5 from me.

My husband and mother both ordered a beer but were told by either the manager or owner that, and I quote "we're a Portuguese bar we don't serve that shit"; I think my mouth quite literally hit the floor. They have a FULL bar and you expect me to believe you do not carry a single beer, specially Portuguese beer like Sagres or Super Block if you claim to be a Portuguese bar? We were told they could not make a bourbon on the rocks for whatever reason and settled water and soda because it was exhausting trying to figure out what the bartender was capable of making or what they had in stock. I have NEVER been treated with such an attitude within 15 minutes of being seated and would never come back here after this meal, the other waiter who eventually took care of us for the rest of the meal was very kind and did his best to make up for what had occurred. There are so many other Portuguese restaurants in East Providence that Riviera doesn't even compare at this point, overall super disappointed.
