Very good coffee and a great spot to take a break. They have gluten free pastries and a nice selection of unique cold brew drinks that are definitely worth trying. The protein bar was also delicious.

The coffee was very good! I usually don't like coffee too much but their horchata drink was perfectly sweet. The drink did take a lot longer to make than I expected but it's a small shop with minimal staff so it makes sense. Cute interior and small seating area

My family and I were staying at the Hotel del Coronado for the week and we wanted to find a local coffee shop for breakfast. Trident Coffee came highly recommended, but sadly it did not hit the mark for us. We ended up going to Better Buzz the following days for our coffee and breakfast fix. This place is not cheap for a quick brekkie and coffee. I ordered the Daily Rations Cold Brew with Cold Foam ($7.70) and a Breakfast Burrito ($13.95) which came out piping hot. The burrito is not hefty by any means, but this is Coronado and not San Diego proper so I don't hold that against them. Think of it as more of a wrap. My one complaint about the burrito is that the filing is chopped up and coated in sauce so it's just a mushy experience (see picture). I was stoked when I read that it included hash brown, but since it wasn't a whole crispy hash brown, you couldn't tell the hash brown from the egg or the sausage coated in the cheesy sauce. I hate to say it, but it just tasted sloppy. The 2 gentlemen working are passionate about their craft and very friendly. This place is popular with the locals and military community and I respect that. They do offer a military discount for those eligible. Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving. I'm glad I visited and supported a local business, but this place just wasn't for me.

super cool store known for their specialty cold brews! we tried the Honey Lavender Latte and Blackberry Cobbler Latte, and they certainly add enough cream/ flavor that they taste more like lattes, but with the cold brew bases. drinks weren't insanely sweet, definitely recommend if you want to be adventurous!

Solid choice for a coffee fix. We tried the salted caramel cold brew and hazelnut latte. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the cold brew coffee was. Usually I'm not a fan of cold brew because I like my coffee a little more on the creamier side. Very unique flavors. Service was also good. They have military discount as well. We didn't see the sign until after we've already paid. But good to know!

We absolutely loved this local coffee spot! Not only was the coffee a great taste but the service was amazing. We took a stroll while on vacation and found this great gem.

So I'm definitely an espresso girlie and haven't had cold brew in a while so I was a little scared lol but it was very good. I like my coffee semi sweet and I did the salted caramel mocha cold brew and it was perfect. Would definitely go back.

My pittie, Cali, and I popped into this adorable coffee spot on Friday afternoon. I'd just gotten some gelato down the street & Cali was feeling a little left out of treat time, so we were in search of a pup cup! We bopped into Trident Coffee which is one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever seen! Cool nautical looking light fixtures, an Octopus mascot keeping watch over the place & lots of interesting coffee, tea & nibbles options. There are a few chairs inside & few tables/chairs outside as well. The kindest barista ever was so excited to see us, especially Cali, and he made us feel so welcome. He kindly offered her a pup cup and he delightedly gave it to her. Cali loved every aspect of this interaction & I really appreciated how nice he was to my pup. This interaction really warmed my heart so much and I will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Coronado! Mahalo!

My friend wanted to go for a birthday run in Coronado. I wanted coffee right after the run which was something I looked forward to as I pushed myself to finish the run LOL. I found this shop with a variety of cold brew options which also included nitro cold brews on the tap! As a coffee drinker, I definitely had to check it out. The location that we went to is located next to some local shops on Orange Ave in "downtown" Coronado. There's a lot of free street parking around the area but could get very hectic and almost impossible to find during holiday season, dinner hours, and weekends. My boyfriend and I wanted to try their cold brew flight, however, they only had 2 sets for the flights which was already taken by another couple. Whaaat sad. Instead, I got their New Orleans Cold Foam, one of the cold brews, annnnd it was kind of sour. It was kind of confusing, giving sweetish taste but with the sourness kept overcoming the coffee bitterness that I was looking for. I personally don't like sour cold brews but that's my own preference. Some people might enjoy them sour, but I don't think they should be sour... However, my friend and boyfriend both liked it though. My boyfriend got their Mexican Mocha, not sweet at all surprisingly! It was quite good, and the aesthetics of the drink were beautiful! Definitely a lot better than the one I got. I was bummed that I couldn't try their cold brew flight but after trying the New Orleans Cold Foam, I was a bit glad that we didn't. Maybe it was a one off day where their cold brew was steeping too long... I definitely will give it another go in the future to try their flight in the future though.

I got the trident cold brew with oat milk and my bf got the turmeric latte with oat milk. Usually i am a fan of sweeter milky coffee drinks but i was pleasantly surprised with my cold brew drink! It was very smooth and didn't taste bitter at all. Normally I add sweetness to my drinks but the cold brew was super refreshing on its own without any sweetness. The turmeric latte was sweet and had a cinnamon taste and my bf loved it as well. Would love to come back the next time I am visiting Coronado!!

I'm a cold brew kind of guy. Trident is a big W for me because they offer several varieties of cold brew, fancied up versions with added flavors and sweeteners and even cold brew flights. Swoooooon. Quaint little shop right in the thick of it on Orange Ave in Coronado. Close to the beach, tons of people watching and very walkable. Clean establishment and friendly service.

Visited for the first time this morning after reading reviews about Trident's cold brews. While the cold brew was fantastic, I was more impressed by the employee that assisted me and my partner. Yesenia was attentive, friendly, and offered impeccable service. She knew the products, recommended what to get, and even followed up after to make sure we're satisfied. Coffee is good. Stopped by on our way off Coronado considering this is a veteran owned coffee spot. The place is small but has a comfortable vibe. The floor gives you an idea what it looks like sailing over dark waters as you look into the ocean. They have a collection of coins on the wall that give an idea where someone has been. We placed our order and paid. We sat down to enjoy our coffee when we realized the guy taking orders asked the guy behind us if he was in the military and gave him a discount. The next couple, he asked the guy again. I realized he didn't ask the female that came in after. He definitely didn't ask me (female, in the military) or my spouse (female). I'm curious if this person assumed only men serve in the military??? Decided to leave. read more

This is our go to spot every Sunday. Our favorite coffee shop in San Diego. The staff is super friendly and genuinely enjoys talking with everyone who walks in. I'm allergic to gluten, so the baked goods like their Keto Donuts + Donut Holes are amazing to snag with iced coffee. This place is pretty much perfect. Was looking for some good coffee around cornado and I found it at Trident Coffee. Very local, focused on nitro cold brews, and also have gluten free low carb baked goods. Cognitive Mushrooms Coffee with almond milk. Ready for my beach walk! Love the combination of spices and functional mushrooms and that it doesn't come pre-sweetened and I don't get the normal jitters that I get with regular coffee. Great for those who love coffee with flavors but don't like it laden with sugar and syrup. Tessa and David were great in helping answered my questions about the pastries. Me and my friend like to very out new cafés and this was a hit :D We interrogated one of the baristas for their favorites, I think her name was Leslie. Her recommendations were spot on; I loved my Mexican mocha. My friend still went with her usual vanilla latte but said it was yummy too. Meet the Business Owner: Eric J.

Serving as a Naval Officer, Eric Johnson started brewing his own cold brew coffee during his final tour of duty in Iraq. He noticed how coffee and tea act as a bridge between cultural differences. All of the chaos of conflict would pause between him and village elders for a brief moment while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea together. Two cultures born a world apart were communicating on so many levels without saying a word- that was it! Eric had found his calling and thus set out to create Trident Coffee Roasters.

When I finally made it to the register the employee said "we are pretty backed up it'll be about a 25 minute wait on food or espresso drinks". You're kidding. I was forced to order a hot coffee (which I never drink - not bad actually) to save time and get back to my business. As I was leaving the customer who had chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and wasted everyone's time got BACK IN LINE! If there are events in the area you need to STAFF ACCORDINGLY. Get your act together, this is an embarrassment to the Bird Rock name.

I had a truly disappointing experience at Trident Coffee. The place was not only unkempt, but I also noticed flies buzzing around, which was quite off-putting. The coffee itself was mediocre at best--definitely not worth the trip. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow and indifferent. I came here on a Sunday morning and with about 5 people in front of me I expected it to take a little bit wait, but not 30 minutes. I commiserated with my fellow line mates, gawking at how the line had gotten out the door, without moving! "Are we at Disneyland in line for a broken ride?" We watched as the sole barista on the bar chatted away with a friend about a business idea or clothing brand or something animatedly for ages! Cool, catch up with your friends, but also...can you please make us coffee? Then, the only cashier decided to leave his post to refill napkins, and restock ice. When I finally made it to the register the employee said "we are pretty backed up it'll be about a 25 minute wait on food or espresso drinks". You're kidding. I was forced to order a hot coffee (which I never drink - not bad actually) to save time and get back to my business. As I was leaving the customer who had chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and wasted everyone's time got BACK IN LINE! If there are events in the area you need to STAFF ACCORDINGLY. Get your act together, this is an embarrassment to the Bird Rock name.

By chance, I discovered Malibu Farms Café was only a five-minute walk away, and I'm so glad I did. The café has the perfect laid-back beach vibe bright, welcoming, and the kind of place where you want to slow down and stay awhile. The standout was the friendly service and willing to make a custom ceremonial matcha with coconut water and a dreamy matcha cold foam. It was incredibly refreshing, perfectly balanced, and without question my drink of the day. Of course, I couldn't leave without trying the pastries. The gluten-free chocolate brownie was rich, moist, and wonderfully decadent. The pistachio loaf was flavorful and tender, and the carrot cupcake was easily the surprise favorite--absolutely delicious and worth every bite. It was the perfect little "cheat day" treat to share. Whether you're stopping in for coffee, matcha, or one of their incredible pastries, Malibu Farms Café is a hidden gem with great beach energy and quality that keeps you coming back. I'll definitely make this a stop every time I'm in San Diego.
