I really dig this place - been a handful of times, both the NA and boozy cocktails are well done…read more Bar staff is knowledgable with a very well equipped bar - on a recent visit my wife didn't see anything that caught her mood and they happily made something else for her. Food has always been good, from apps to mains. I don't think I've had a burger here, yet...most recently I had the fried chicken, which had been well marinated and cooked - juicy, flavorful, plentiful. Vibe is always chill, here. Now that the weather's warming up, outdoor seating is available. I usually make a reservation, but my sense is for a couple one could almost always walk in without a rez and get seated quickly. One of my favorite east-side places...if it was a little closer to me I'd be there all the time!

I wasn't feeling like a big entree but I put together a fun little meal out of their falafel bites and tomato soup- both were really good. I appreciated that the service folks made sure I got some extra toasted bread with my soup. A coworker got the buttermilk fried chicken and it was an impressive serving. Also loved the extensive selection of whiskey, cocktails, and non alcoholic cocktails. Non alcoholic options really allow anyone to relax with a drink. But not me I had woodinville rye whiskey because it's a local fav. OH! They sell hotdogs here and that's awesome cause it's hard to find a good hotdog place- and these hotdogs are made of freakin waygu beef.

There was a…read morewait but the staff gave us a realistic estimate of the wait and they take your number and text you when your table is ready. They have both great outdoor seating and inviting indoor dining as well. I started with a nice London Fog made with Earl Gray from Smith Teamaker. It comes in one size - large. My Mom got the Eggs Benedict with fresh dill which she enjoyed even though there was a slight hiccup. The English muffin under the eggs was over toasted and was very difficult to cut with a knife. But the staff was very gracious and remade the whole thing in no time. I got the roast chicken with goat cheese sandwich and my wife got the smoked turkey sandwich. Both come on bread they bake themselves. The fresh greens on both really elevated the sandwiches. DERU also has an excellent bakery case. We ordered a slice of the Coconut cake. It was a generous slice and delicious. If you don't have time to dine can walk up and order pastries to go. Will definitely be back again!

We started with the fresh garden salad with pepitas. greens, herby dressing and pickled carrots at Deru, then dove into two wood fired, blistered pizzas, the mushroom and the pepperoni. Add a bottle of vinho verde and who could complain? The ordering process was a little confusing at first, but the second visit should be easier. Pro tip: don't stand in the long line unless you're ordering to-go. Find a table, scan the QR code, and order. Fun atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and genuinely good food. My main complaint? One bathroom. Rough. The long car line cueing outside is a good sign. Apparently 1,500 loyal customers waited last year for a Thanksgiving meal to take home. After eating here, I get it.

I had the tom yum soup - 4 stars Not too spicy, they weigh she commented on the four stars made me think I'd regret it but I'm glad I went with four stars for spice and perhaps next time I'd even go to five star spicy. ($17) Old town Bellevue off Main has street parking and a parking garage. However, the area is very popular so parking can be challenging. Service was fantastic. When we came in, they acknowledged it was cold out and had one side of the restaurant that was warmer & offered any table to sit at.

I ordered the mango mocktail and the banana curry, and both were delicious. The curry especially stood out. Rice isn't included by default, but there are plenty of carb options--you can add noodles on the side if you're not in the mood for rice. Portions are very generous, so come hungry. One slightly odd thing: they had space heaters running indoors. The overall temperature was comfortable, but the person sitting right in front of one was definitely feeling the heat. Service was very attentive and friendly, though not the fastest--dishes didn't all come out at once. It looked like there were only one or two people in the kitchen, so it's understandable. Overall, if you're vegan/vegetarian--or dining with a group that has dietary restrictions--and you're in Bellevue, this place is worth checking out.

The tempura was perfectly crispy and delicious, and the vegan karaage in the bento was especially tasty. I'll definitely be coming back to try the karaage as a full plate next time. For an appetizer, we got the special which was a four piece crispy rice appetizer. It was pretty good. My husband and son liked them both but one was a little too spicy for me and the other I thought needed a little something more. But overall pretty good. I ordered the Chirashi bowl. The tako (octopus), seared tuna, sake (salmon), hamachi (yellowtail), maguro (tuna), tamago (egg), ikura (salmon roe), ebi (shrimp), hotate (scallop), and superwhite tuna in the chirashi were sliced nice and thick. Some places cut them thin but here the size was perfect. Not too big, not to small. Just right. My husband got the ultimate Bento and my son ordered the Tuna Bento. They both got sushi, tempura and salad in their bento. The tempura was super crispy and the perfect amount of thickness of the batter. My husband and son loved the tempura. Their sushi was really good and the cut of the fish was just the right thickness. This is a family business and the girls serving us we're really nice and checked on us often. I like supporting small family businesses so I definitely will be coming back and recommending this to my friends!
