Special wine made exclusively for Boston's Whitey Bulger. No longer available. Neither he nor it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the people first and foremost. A very cool crowd. No thugs. No bugs. Just people having fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great burgers. Great fries. Great Nachos. Great Shepherd's Pie in the cooler seasons. Great craic in a phrase (Irish slang for good time). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Twenty-something TVs so you can watch whatever sports you want.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a same-name sister pub on Sullivan Street in Greenwich Village near NYU. Also the Hairy Lemon on Avenue B in East Village (pool table if you dare), and recently opened Lydia's on lower First Avenue. Today, four pubs; tomorrow, the world. Enjoy.

FEELS LIKE HOME, CHI TOWN IN NY. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good drinks, fun atmosphere with good attendants, and also with a very nice food menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Solid locals bar with plenty of nooks and places to sit, reasonable prices, and friendly staff (Triona herself was behind the sticks the night we visited). We came in a large group at about 5pm on a Friday for the Syracuse game and pitched ourselves towards the back, playing some games of beer pong and sitting at the two adjacent tables. Yes, Triona's doesn't have a kitchen, but that works in their favor, as they allow you to bring in your own grub. There are some pretty stellar options nearby - we went with Meatball Shop for some dinner/mid-pong snacking. Later on in the night another group (who apparently "reserved" the back space) came in and laid claim to our area. Triona was very apologetic as she didn't give us any heads up, and she gave us a free pitcher for the trouble...Definitely a nice gesture!

A student dive bar, but of higher calibre than most. Worth stopping by for a college football game...

It's a Cubs bar in a great part of the village so we've been coming to watch them here the past few weeks.

The pretzels were more like warm soft breadsticks, served with a cheese dip and mustard on the side. Decor is an advertisement for Guinness but it IS an Irish pub in NYC. I had the Irish stew, a crock of hot beef and vegetables in a tasty gravy. Others in the group enjoyed burgers and salads. Next time I'll try the shepards pie. Server was pleasant and answered our questions.

Service from the bartender was great. I ordered the fish and chips and a Bloody Mary. Everything was great up till then. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. Maybe it was a deep fat fryer thing, but I respectfully suggest the cook be given a little additional training. The fish batter was hard on the outside, and the fish was completely mushy on the inside. Like, gray mush. The fries were lukewarm. The mushy peas and the tartar sauce were served in little covered plastic disposable containers. I'm not a fan of that, but I get it is convenient. I truly wanted to like this place, and except for my one experience with the food, I would certainly return. People were having fun, and I did as well. I believe if they become a little more attentive in the kitchen, this place is a five star pub.

Bartenders - FIVE of them will ignore tf out of you until they have no choice but to speak to you because some finance bros came and called the bartenders over. Thought it was because I'm a woman but then this older Caucasian woman came to sit next to me and they came to her right away (I'm a woman of color). I even had to flail my arms just to get the tab and I can tell that it's their routine to ignore a certain demographic. I was only here because my friend had to meet up with my work colleagues so I thought I would grab a seat at the bar and enjoy a quick burger before heading out for birthday festivities. The burger and fries were good and the rooftop is nice. I have no desire to return but it's probably what they want.

Apparently this beer is not as common in New York, but there were a couple Irish pubs that still sold them on draft and luckily there was one nearby my hotel. Very cool place! It's easy to miss walking by but once inside there's a bar on the main floor, restaurants in the next floor and a rooftop bar several stories up. The rooftop bar is a huge open atmosphere and once seated you have about 40 beers on tap to select from. The staff is incredibly friendly as well and knew exactly what I was looking for. Would definitely come back to try more drinks!
