I stopped in on Thursday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. on June 18, 2026. The service was fast. They took my order quickly, and I didn't have to wait long for my food--less than five minutes. There was no line, so no one was in front of me. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich, which came with two sides. I chose the baked beans and the potato salad. The baked beans were a little on the sweet side, but they were good. The potato salad was your standard, average fare. The sandwich, however, was pretty awesome. Once I got home, I added pickles and onions and poured on some of their beef sauce. It was outstanding and made for a very good meal. I strongly encourage anyone who enjoys barbecue to stop in and give them a try. This is a food truck, but they do have outdoor seating available. There is also another food truck next to it serving Mexican food. I made it out of there for $16.24, which seems to be about average pricing for a barbecue sandwich and two sides. Door Dash: I can't speak on the location due to ordering from door dash. However, in the past they were pretty quick and efficient to take your order in person. Parking was fine, in the past. They are located in the neighborhood but they have a lot in the back. I ordered a baked potato' with all the fixings! It tasted just as remembered. When you pull up, your mouth can't help but water from the smoky smell of bbq in the air. The outside of the place isn't he most aesthetically pleasing but history has told me that those are the places with the best food lol. I went in to place my order and was greeted by an older woman asking "what can I get you king?" She never looked up but also didn't miss a beat. Afterwards I got seated in the covered outside, picnic area to wait for my number to be called on the intercom. I ordered the 2 meat tray which comes with 2 sides; I got ribs, chicken, baked beans, and potato salad. I also added a side of green beans, a boudin link, sweet tea and lemonade. The food was ready in a short amount of time, despite how busy they were, and was a good portion size for the cost. The ribs slapped! Tender and flavorful, these were my favorite part of the experience and paired well with the bbq sauce that came with my order. Second place goes to the sweet tea and lemonade! I would go back for these three alone! Coming in third is the chicken, boudin and potato salad which were all solid but nothing to write home about. Lastly the baked beans and green beans were my least favorite. Now I could attribute my dislike for the baked beans to me being accustomed to sweeter, smaller beans but these beans were bigger and more on the savory side. Ok so I heard that Burns was the truth but now I know this for a fact! First off the location leads to the authenticity. With years of history and a staff that is amazing your experience starts there. Next the food....the food is amazing. I had the three meat dinner with ribs, brisket, and sausage. Out of the three the ribs were #3 on the list but they are prob top 5 ribs I've ever had. So that tell you the level of amazing the food is. I wish I could leave ZERO stars. The old lady who takes the orders is so rude to customers, it's honestly wild that they still get any business. When I walked in, she just stared at me while I stood there for about 15 minutes. Then, out of nowhere, she called a group of six guys in front of me to place their orders. Not the same as it used to be, the ribs are tough, sometimes they don't have brisket, chicken have a tendency to be dry as a desert , the sides are just downright awful, and when they have the order wrong they get upset with the customer like it's their fault. I know the last 4 years they haven't been the same. Okay, my nephew and niece wanted to take me out to eat in Houston where he's from. He raves about how Houston has the best bbq! One of Houston's Best BBQ joints! Forget the fancy fixin's, purple onions, and plush settings. BBQ is about a taste and feel. If it tastes good it makes you feel good! Period! I had not had this BBQ in over a decade, but recently started working within 15 minutes of the restaurant. The homemade sausage links and brisket are very tasty, own there own. When you add the BBQ sauce, the party really gets started! It comes together, perfectly! In the last three months, I've had their food at least five times, whether via delivery or a visit to the restaurant. The counter where you order is a small, dark, confusing space and the wait time can be a bit of a challenge, but I understand that they are very busy with online, phone, and regular orders. The food is worth the wait! Also, if you don't like eating outdoors, stay away or get it to go. The tables are outdoors, on a covered patio. So I'm here in Houston on some training and I met up with my best friend and he mentioned BURNS Original BBQ. We got there right before they closed up and by the way they close at 6pm and not 7:30 FYI. So My boy ordered the Loaded bake potato with the chopped up Hot Smoked Sausage and I had the RIBS, BEANS and POTATO SALAD. It's a shame we caught them at the end of the night but, I can honestly say it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and I'd give it a 8/10 being we got there late. I wanna try and get there earlier so I can get it a lot more fresh than what it was when I ordered this evening. I first went to Burns years about 20 years ago, have been to Houston several times but I'm usually there on the weekends so if I couldn't make it on Sat, they are closed on Sun and Mon. Finally got a chance to get there last Friday. I'm from California and live in Vegas, where good BBQ is extremely hard to find. When I visited Burns 20 years ago, it was one of the best BBQ places I'd ever been to. I was there for work, a group of people were going to Rudy's but I didn't go with them. I kind of smugly laughed at them because I was going to Burns the next day. Rudy's is good but I'm in AZ often and they have several there I have visited recently. I wanted something I couldn't get outside of Texas. I asked a local, he told me Burns wasn't great anymore and Rudy's was better. I really couldn't believe that so I ignored him and headed down to Burns on Friday night. We ordered two plates, one with ribs and homemade links, they other with chicken and links. I had the ribs and links. The ribs were just average and the links were worse, ate about half of the plate then I was done. Ribs didn't have much flavor, couldn't taste any smoke and their rub (or lack thereof) was bland. Links weren't any better, no spice or flavor. Had to use sauce on everything and you BBQ aficionados know you only need BBQ sauce when the meat has not flavor. Also had the beans and potato salad. Beans looked like they came out of a Van Camps can and the potato salad tasted the same. Rudy's ribs are definitely better, I actually know of several places in California and Vegas that have better BBQ, something I thought I would never say. read more

The barbecue came with bark and I don't mean dog lol. Yes tender, moist, and well seasoned. To know that after over 20years it's family owned and the like of Anthony Bourdain stood where I stood and ate the same food. That speaks volumes to black excellence. I'm starting to see some of the best food is in the hood. I would say compared to other places the price point was high. There are not many places to park so you may have to get creative. I was lucky to find a parking spot around back. I was there on my lunch brake and ordered the Sliced Beef Sandwich with a side of Dirty Rice and a Coke. The rice had a good flavor to it and the brisket was sliced thick and piled high on the bread. It had a nice smoke ring, good flavor, and juicy. The pickles, onions, and sauce came on the side. Everything was served in a brown paper bag and there were picnic tables under a roof outside with fans to keep it cool. They did forgot to add the Dirty Rice with my meal, but fixed it right away once I brought it to their attention. The workers were all so friendly and there were so many people waiting for their orders, I knew this would be delicious. I ordered a 2-meat dinner and a 3-meat dinner for later but after I tried the Mac n cheese and baked beans, I had to order more of those to go! The Mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. And the baked beans seem to be cooked with other meats so there was so much flavor. I'm kinda sad it didn't come with corn bread but all good! The ribs fell right off the bone, super tender. Burns Original BBQ is a staple in the community, but in my humble opinion the quality has went down a bit. I do not know if it is the generational change, Pitmaster or what. This is not a bad thing but when you are use to years of perfect BBQ then your tastebuds notice differences right away. They have a sign that says check your order before you leave and heed the warning. Even though I was hungry and grabbed my bags and departed, when I got home I realized that the messed up one of my orders and I was like arrghh. My mouth was watering for the ribs and when I started to devour them I noticed the lack of smokiness flavor. I think the ribs were rushed and the pit sweated a bit due to decrease in temp. I will come back for another go around to confirm my suspicions. The 2 meat baked potato was ok that being the meat was on point, but the potato did not seem too fresh in taste and texture. This was our first time visiting this place, have to say I was impressed by the decor. It looked like, what I thought, was a true BBQ place. The service could've been better, stood there waiting for someone to take our order, maybe 10 min. Finally one of the guys in the back noticed we were there waiting and helped start our order. Then there was a lady that looked like she was not too happy to be there complete the order and take our payment. We placed our order, ordered several meats, and received it within a reasonable amount of time. When we get home we noticed they forgot one of the items (half chicken) but overall the food was ok. My first time in Texas and my first Texan BBQ so had to try it at Burns. First of all, 10 stars for service! The lady at the front counter saw my excitement as I entered the establishment and offered me free gifts as a first comer. She made me feel welcomed with her kind gesture and it really made my day! The location is kind of off the beaten path bc it's nestled between private residential homes. Casual outdoor patio dining with food served in to go boxes/brown bags. They give you lots of bbq sauce, pickles & onions. I choose the brisket 1/2 meal with two sides. The portion was very generous. I saw a lot of patrons order the loaded potatoes so I must come back hungry to try next time. Burns Original BBQ is located in the middle of residential neighborhood that might have you making sure your doors are locked, but keep following the GPS to find this Houston gem. What I love most is this is a family owned and operated establishment with a DJ and outdoor seating. I love how they are keeping Mr Burns legacy alive and have branded drinks, chips and other products in the store. What I didn't love is parking is challenging and not regulated as we were blocked in for 20 minutes and no one really seemed to care. You go inside a security guarded converted home where you place an order. You are given a number and asked to wait outside. A very long 25-30 minutes later our number was finally called. Thank God! Unfortunately the food was just okay. We've had far better bbq in Houston. My husband ordered the 3 meat combo with potato salad and Mac and cheese. I cannot pinpoint the flavor but something in the potato salad is extremely off. The Mac felt like a boxed velvet and we didn't enjoy (also sides come in condiment containers extremely small portion for price). He said the brisket was tough but enjoyed the other meats. I ordered the 3 meat loaded baked potato and it was loaded, however after a wait that long I expected it to be fresh! The potato was cold and meat was warm at best. The pork ribs were tough, the beef was alright and the chicken sausage was the clear star. Overall it was a one time experience for me.
