Very fast and friendly service. Waiter comes to check in on you often and make sure you're doing okay! Smaller restaraunt, but usually has space. Super solid indian food as well! FOOD: Garlic Naan (7/10) - Solid garlic naan, but a bit too crispy / burnt for my liking. Still goes well with the curry Chicken Tikka Masala (9/10) - One of the better ones that I've had in the Bay Area! You can adjust your spice level as well :)

I first went to Trisara after work to catch up with friends. There was plenty of seating around 6pm, and the service was fast too. We went for the Chicken Jhol Momo and Butter Chicken. The momos were really juicy and slathered in a nice tangy sauce. The butter chicken was also pretty solid, it had the familiar creamy, tomoatoey flavors one would expect. My main qualm is the lack of spice in both dishes, as I've come to expect in Indian/Nepali foods

Came here for a quick bite while in the area. Service is great. I will say food is just okay. Not the best south Asian food I've had but gets the job done. I went especially for the momos and they were just okay. Yummy but I wouldn't come back for them.

Came here for a quick bite for dinner with friends. The service was nice, food doesn't take that long to come out. The okra was okay, it tasted kind of stringy like it was a little old. The garlic naan was very greasy. But the two main protein dishes we got were tasty and had good flavor. With half the dishes being okay, idt I'd come back.

I visit SF fairly often for work and everytime I do, I make sure to try a different Indian restaurant. It's one of my favorite foods and I love trying new spots while traveling. It had been a minute since I had tried Nepali - Indian food so when I discovered this restaurant on Yelp, I decided to give it a go. It was only a few blocks from my hotel and their menu looked great. I went with my favorites - samosa, garlic naan, and vegetable korma. It was ready and waiting for me when I arrived and everything was packaged well. The samosas were perfectly fried with a delicious filling of potatoes and green peas. They came with a tamarind sauce for dipping. When I order these they typically come with a mint chutney of some sort, so I would have loved to have that option as well. The garlic naan was a wee bit too hard in some spots, but the chewiness was spot on and it was a great vessel for my korma. The korma itself wasn't super flavorful, but it was creamy and the vegetables were cooked just right. The serving size was also pretty hefty. I found the prices of everything to be extremely reasonable and ordering online was easy. While it wasn't one of my favorite spots, it was yummy and filled me up and even left me with some leftovers.

Trisara has AMAZING food and service. I got the butter chicken and masala tea. My husband got the salmon tikka masala and garlic naan. Our waiter gave us so many recommendations, was attentive, friendly, and even treated us to a free dessert! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone traveling to SF!

Came here for lunch with coworkers. We got chicken momo, goat curry and okra. The servings looked small when it first got to our table but turns out it was just enough for our table of three. None of the spices were overpowering. Service was fantastic. Just keep in mind it takes some time to cook the dishes so probably can't come here if you're on a strict lunch break. Make sure you have ample time to wait.

This place deserves 5 star and I have good reasons for it. It is a Nepalese place but you will find the menu pretty similar to Indian. So what's the difference - it is how Nepalese food is made. I tried the Spinach chicken and I can totally feel authentic Nepalese taste. More turmeric, slightly higher salt, super soft chicken likely cooked in cooker with more liquidy gravy topped with generous amount of cilantro. All very typical of Nepalese style of cooking. Even the Mango Lassi was pretty solid - felt fresh and not going sour whatsoever. If there was anything which was a little underwhelming - it was the Aloo Paratha. It was good but it was made like Bihari/Nepali style. If you are expecting Punjabi style paratha - you will be disappointed. Ambience is ordinary but given the place is located in SF downtown, I won't complain.

Great whole in the wall in the heart of SoMa - super lowkey decor and friendly staff. They have a few beers on the menu and excellent food spanning Nepalese and Chinese. You don't leave feeling over stuffed or breaking the bank.

The food here was so delish! Very vegetarian friendly. And the service was awesome and the price was incredibly reasonable. Our food came out quickly and very hot. This place caught my eye as I walked by: Tibetan/Indian/Chinese mixed menu. Do they have Tibetan mamosas on menu? Yes!!! I'm in!!! I love mamosas and still look for ones to rival the ones i used to get at a little place in Madison Wisconsin in the 80's. Ordered a plate of vege ones (8 pieces for $11) and one of the Indian vegetarian dishes of paneer cheese & peas in tomato sauce. The mamosas were fab!!! Right below those ones from Madison so long ago! Melt in your mouth perfection, wonderful taste and traditional tomato cream dipping sauce to top with. The main dish was excellent too and came with white basmati rice light & fluffy. Will have to try others Simple decor & about 8 tables. Tibetan music on. Relaxing. The service was super friendly. My 3rd time and unfortunately each time I enjoyed less. I always have had their reasonable during the week lunch special. Today the usual terrific curry chicken sauce was still good but lighter. The mixed curry veggies were way overcooked and watery. The samosa and rice was the usual lukewarm. Small wine by the glass serving. This was a cute lil find for us around union square and will be our go-to for food in this area! The food is delicious, authentic, healthy and oh so fresh. We got the momos and chowmein- both were yummy and some of the best we've had. Chowmein especially was better than what I can find in India - they added extra veggies for us at no cost. It was clear they were made with fresh ingredients and from scratch. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. First things first - yes I recommend. Now for the colour commentary: I literally just picked up food from this place about 40min ago, went back to my office, and proceeded to have my lunch. I ordered [1] chicken momos; [2] vegetable momos; [3] lamb biryani. I was going to eat some and save the rest for dinner with my fiancee. I have walked by this place several times as my office is nearby - never tried. Decided yesterday during a walk by to give it a chance. Glad I did. Chicken momos had soft but pliable skins and a nice portion of chicken. Vegetable momos were likewise soft with pliable skin with a decent helping of a seasoned vegetable mix. The lamb biryani was a pop of colour immediately on opening, followed by a pleasing sweet and spiced aroma. Flavour was very much to my liking - slightly spicy, lamb meat tender, and rice-flavours strong but not overpowering, with a touch of sweet. The server who brought my food handed me three samosa which I did not order. He wanted me to try them and thanked me for choosing this restaurant for my lunch. Friendly. If you are in San Francisco, the food here is a must have! This was my first time dining in at this restaurant and everything about this place was phenomenal. The quality of the food was definitely a 10 out of 10. Our food came out hot and was nothing but flavorful! I ordered the Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan, Rice, and a Mango Lassi. The owner there was the sweetest! He gave us free Chai and Gulab Jamun, which both tasted very good. He made sure that we were well taken care of and was very attentive to our requests. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone whose looking for some good food and exceptional customer service! read more

omg so good and above and beyond great service. I came in before my shift and I was well greeted.My food came out hot and fresh I had to wait to eat it, and while I was waiting i was offered water and a amazing flakey and soft snack. I was only in the restraint of a sort min but It made a big impression on me i wish I took pics but I ate my food so fast lol! read more

I came in with a large party after the large Chinese anew Years celebration. The place was totally packed and it was clear that the staff was completely overwhelmed, but they tried their absolute best to attend to all the customers. Everyone at our table was extremely satisfied with the food we ordered. This included butter chicken, goat curry , chicken momos, garlic naan, and chow mein. Will certainly be coming back when I'm in the area. All in all, great food, very friendly staff, and an overall enjoyable experience. read more

Everything about Trisara was great! The food was stellar! I usually avoid Indian restaurants because the food often doesn't agree with me. This place was a definite exception. My friends had the chicken/vegi tika masala, and I had the chicken vindaloo (extra spicy). The food was well prepared, and tasted amazing. The server was super attentive and friendly, and checked in several times to make sure everything was ok (It took a couple of cold beers to navigate the heat of the vindaloo). They have a lunch special, and are open for dinner as well: an anomaly for the area. The interior and ambiance were inviting and chill. They also have Chinese dishes on the menu, and I look forward to trying them as well. Since this is in my neighborhood, I will definitely be going back. read more

The food was so satisfying. And beyond that, the host is incredibly hospitable and kind. The tandoori roti was so crisp and perfectly cooked. And we had potato-cauli curry, chicken curry and chicken chowmein. What's to note is that all the curries come with rice by default. At the end of it the host surprised us with a piece of hot gulab jamun for each of us on the house, it felt like coming home to my family!! read more

The dirty kitchen and reheating frozen food from Indian grocery are not my idea of Nepali food. Hopefully the restaurant will change its way from my feedback. I recently dined at Trisara, a Nepalese-Indian restaurant near Chinatown in San Francisco. I ordered the goat curry with garlic naan, and both dishes were perfect. They were rich in flavor with a perfect blend of spices, and the meat was tender and high-quality. Although the restaurant was busy and the service was a bit slow, the excellent food made up for it.
