    Reptiles in back enclosure

This is one of Tucson's longest operating pet stores and it does give you that nostalgic traditional pet store vibe. They were clean and the staff was very friendly. Some products seemed highly priced while others at a bargain. They offer a variety of options for costs and experience and are quite knowledgeable. Definitely recommend stopping by and checking out for your pets needs or new friend.

This is a family run pet store. My daughter and I stopped in today from for dog food today. They have a program in place where if you buy 10 bags of dog food, you get the 11th free. This was dog food bag 11 and we got it for free. Nice people, great selection. It's worthy!

This place has a lot of cool exotic reptiles and animals to look at. The staff is super friendly! I've always had everybody treat me and my daughter really well. Alex is One of the girls who works there and she's always so patient with my daughter and let's hold a snake for so long and she's so nice about it ! They always have great answers to any questions that I have. I really like coming here.

This is my Axolotl I received from over there btw

This place is pretty convenient for the most part but sometimes you'll end up waiting for help for quite a bit with such a small team they have I would hope they get bigger teams per day but overall most staff are nice as long as you show them respect Im sort of a usual who just gets feeding fish for my Axolotl so I usually don't run into any complications while shopping there also my brothers obsessed with the crabs in this place

This is a family owned pet store and one of the only ones left in Tucson. The animals look great. They will let you handle the birds and other pets if you're considering buying. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and didn't feel rushed with questions. The place could use a deep clean and maybe better merchandising it's all a bit out of order. Great little store!

This store has become one of my favorite places to visit. After recently becoming very interested in reptiles I started visiting the store more and more frequently. On my first visit I knew nothing about snakes, though I had a great desire to own one when I was ready. An extremely helpful employee let me hold one and taught me so much about their care! After doing A LOT of my own research I finally decided that owning a snake was right for me, and I regularly check back in looking for the right one for me. On employee in particular, Tommy, was so kind. He was not only willing to help educate me on these incredible animals, but to share his own love and pictures of his pets. The employees here are so much more than paid workers.. they love these animals and do their best to care for them until they find forever homes. This is above all an exotic pet store.. not a place to come and buy your Pomeranian new outfits... a lot of these other reviews seem like they are from disgruntled and rude people. I have never had even close to a bad experience in this business. And Tommy, I swear I'm coming back for the axanthic ball python baby! I also have come in with my young nieces and wow are these employees so kind and compassionate. They always teach them more about the animal they're interacting with and I'm so grateful this business exists in our city.

The feeder fish I purchase from Tropical Kingdom will survive indefinitely as compared to the couple of days I get from the chain pet stores in my area.

What I thought was really neat is that El Jefe was Tucson's first cat lounge and is named after the famous jaguar "El Jefe" that once roamed Southern Arizona. The lounge partners with local rescues, so every cat you meet is looking for a forever home. If you happen to fall in love with one (or five), you can even begin the adoption process! They've also have a café and gift shop inside for shopping and soaking up on the cat-themed atmosphere. They have everything from cat toys and journals to dish towels, keychains, cat ears, beanies, candles, and other fun cat-themed goodies. Each floor has its own little personality with climbing structures, cozy napping spots, and toys for the kitties to explore. Some cats wanted attention immediately, some were happily snoozing, and others gave me the classic "you may admire me from a respectful distance" look. Beyond regular lounge visits, they also host fun events like cat yoga, bingo, movie nights, crafts, and other themed activities. Whether you're looking to adopt, need a little serotonin boost, or simply want to spend an hour surrounded by adorable kitties, this is such a unique Tucson experience. Fair warning though... if you're a cat lover, don't be surprised if you leave with about 200 photos on your phone, a coffee in your hand, and a strong urge to adopt another furry friend.

I would always buy my enrichment toys for my rats and rabbit here. The staff has always been friendly and helpful when I've had questions. I recently adopted a puppy, and I was impressed to see that they have a lot of good products in stock such as duck heads, raw hide alternatives, lamb ears etc. They're also one of the only places I have found that carries items for raw feeding. The moss I picked up cost three times what it does online. I wish I had checked online first. But what really turned me off is that I was going to donate one of my rat litters to them (donate, NOT sell), and when I brought them in the "rat expert" said they had ear mites. Funny, I had never seen any sign of ear mites like excessive scratching or scabbing, but I took them all to see the small animal vet. Of course, there were no ear mites. I had a feeling, and I don't know why, when I walked in the door with them that they weren't going to take them, and I don't know why. They treated me strangely--a little rudely though I called ahead. Whatever the reason, it's too far to drive after confirming just to get told, "Oh, we don't want these." They do have a lot of merchandise, and the employees seem to care for the animals. Just price compare before going and take everything the employees say with a grain of salt.
