I wouldn't recommend them at all. They don't know what they're doing. They're called license blonding specialist. When I literally knew more walking into the store on how to do my hair then they knew how to do mine. One of the girls told me my hair was fine to bleach, I came in with the lightest blue hair ever in very long roots so I wanted to go back to blonde and have my roots back simple as that if things didn't go well put an orange toner over it and it saves the damn day, anyway she put 40 volume developer and bleach on my hair fried my hair so damn bad it was so stringy and put black dye all over it and I paid $500 for it... when I could've went to Walgreens and picked up a black box tie for five dollars. And it's not even what I wanted. I'm so sorry but they just seemed very money hungry and especially because I am kind of young. I am 17 years old and it was the money that I saved up from working Hella hard at my first job. My hair is green now. read more

This review is for Nani who is the hairdresser who washed, conditioned, trimmed, flat ironed and styled my hair. I have African American hair and she was excellent. This is the first time that I've found a Black or African American stylist that has done exactly what I asked for since moving to the Bay/Sacramento area 30 years ago! I felt pretty and light. She also respected that I'm growing my hair out and worked with me on a styling plan so that my hair will fully revert back to curly in between flat iron stylings. She didn't overly straighten my hair (which I asked for), and it felt light and cute. She worked my existing grey (which I do not want to cover or color) into the style. She was friendly, professional, and personable. I did have some initial trouble with scheduling with the front desk calling to cancel or move things around multiple confusing times, but this review is for Nani, not them or that situation. read more

This review is for Erica: I went into this salon as a walk in and I wanted a chop. I had over 18 inches of hair when I walked in here. I asked for my hair cut a little below my shoulders with a little bit of long layering to help give it volume and some longer curtain bangs. I showed Erica the picture of what I wanted and she said "perfect, I've got it". She then began the haircut and cut my hair off right below my shoulders and told me she had to start at that length to give me the longer layers I was looking for, which I agreed. Instead of cutting in the layers, she razored them in and this may have been where the disconnect came from. I have extremely fine thin hair, so my ends look piecey and thin instead of feathery. I asked for face-framing curtain bangs, but what she gave me is actually more of a shag/wolf cut. When I told her it looked to shaggy, she told me it's because my hair is fine so it won't look like the inspo photo, but the style itself was completely different than what I asked for. She didn't style it, just blow dried it and brushed it so the photo below is what it looked like once I got home. I told her it was not what I was going for and then told me she gave me "a custom haircut and nobody else can recreate the cut she did for me because it's custom". I think the haircut itself is nicely done aside from the bangs, but it wasn't what I was going for and it was difficult adjusting to the new style. If you're thinking about getting a haircut, maybe do a bit more research before choosing to go as a walk-in. Giving them three stars because the women who worked there were kind and they fit me in as a walk in which I appreciated at the time. Also, after posting my initial review, the Spa owner Angela reached out and offered many ways to resolve this so I feel better about my hair which is truly very kind of her and I really appreciate her kindness and understanding throughout this whole ordeal! read more

My son went to Rita (who is absolutely patient and amazing) for a haircut, and the shop owner kicked us out because my son was crying. She said "we can't have that happening here" then i was told "we can reschedule for another time in the morning when there's no one here" to which i told the owner I cannot because of my work schedule and all the said was "oh" Worst experience ever, instead of trying to be understanding she just shut it down. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening because of a kid crying. Unfortunately I can't go back there because of the owners lack or empathy and rudeness. I'm not sure why a business would have a section in their salon called Kids Carousel Cuts, however not be accepting of the behaviors that kids can come with. read more

Just had an amazing massage from Angela! When I came in my neck was tweaked and I was in pain. I called before I came in, asking if I could come in right away. The woman who answered the phone was very accommodating and made time for me right away. Angela massaged all the tight muscles in my neck and shoulders. As she was massaging, I could feel the pain melting away. The massage she gave me was as good as some of the medical massages I've had in the past. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely come back to see her often. Afterward, she offered me some water. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know that I typically test water before I drink it. It turns out that their Alhambra bottled water tested at 22 ppm which is really clean (see my photo). It must be purified. I was hesitant to come here in the first place because other massage places had higher Yelp ratings, but this one was the closest to where I was, so I decided to give it a try. I'm sure glad I did! But that's not all . . . there's even more good news. Without me asking, she went out of her way to get me some ice to put on my neck and than she talked to me for several minutes to see how I felt afterward. She even offered to let me have one of her towels to take to go just so the ice bag didn't get me wet as it melted. Although I declined the towel, I was touched by how caring she was. I left feeling so much better! And within a few hours, I felt terrific! Tip #1: Next time you get a headache or feel achey, schedule a massage with Angela. You might be pleasantly surprised how effective massage can be when you have someone as talented as she is. Tip #2 for the ladies: If your husband is getting grumpy because you're shopping to long, tell him to go here for a massage and he'll come back in a much better mood. Tip #3 for men: Can't find a good gift at Vacaville Outlets? Buy her a gift card here. It's much quicker and she'll probably appreciate it more anyway. read more

After having my lashes for 3 weeks, I went to have them taken off by an actual lash extension business and was told they were low quality extensions. As she was taking them off she showed me there were clumps of extensions stuck to ONE of my natural lashes. Which caused my natural lash to come off with it. I am not pleased about this. Also maybe look into getting higher quality extensions, the ones I had were pretty rough on my eyes. Let me just say these ladies are wonderful people! When we went in, we were just inquiring about the cost to do my 13 yr. old daughters hair for the first time. A stylist who was standing there said she would do it. The owner, who I just love (Angela), did my daughter's eyebrows for her, and we booked the appt for later in the week. When my daughter got her hair done, it was awful! Orange and haircut looked like she got sabotaged at a slumber party! Now I had my daughter crying and spent a lot of money. I called the stylist who was not interested in righting the wrong ND told me ot would be lighter in few days.. ya, brighter orange! Anyway I received a call from Angela out of nowhere who asked me bout it and then told me she was setting us up with her best colorist and they wanted to fix it with no charge. She was kind, apologetic, and understanding. We went back in to have it fixed and wow! They hit a home run. My daughter's hair is gorgeous and exactly what she wanted. Kristyn is absolutely amazing! Then.when her color was done, Angela did her eyebrows for free as well. I could never tell you how much this meant to me as a mother. To see my daughter so happy and content with her hair means the world to me. I will never forget these ladies' kindness and their understanding of our situation. I will always promote this company and send people their way. I tagged a long with my friend in hopes to be a walk in. Erica, hairdresser, and Angela, the owner were the only staff working. They seemed nice and willing to take me as a walk in. Overall the visit was pleasant until it was getting close to my turn and Angela mixed up the color and started applying it to me while Erica was still working on my friend. I could tell Erica was unhappy and I was unsure what to say, as she is the owner. I felt like I was very rushed and half assed". I got an all over color and trim. I was not styled, blow dried or anything. I was charged $358.00!!!! There was no break down when asked. I have never paid that !!! I used to come here with my Mother. She would get her hair done while I got my nails done then we'd both get a pedicure. I visited Trish for my nails and they were great. When Trish moved to her own salon I followed her. My Mom passed away about then also so we didn't need the salon anymore. But it turns out Trish isn't the same person running her own salon so I am back. I called to find out who was and was transferred to Frankie. She specializes in Pink and White nails and that's the only way I like my nails done so I rushed right in there. Frankie is amazing!! I wish I'd taken her business cards to pass around. It was my first visit and she almost did them exactly like I like them! I must be hard to please because its rare that someone does them exactly as I like them on the first try! Frankie is pleasant, chatty but not too chatty - if you get your nails done regularly you know what I mean. She is kind and very much a perfectionist - so much so that it took unpleasantly long from start to finish. But again, if you get your nails done regularly you know how awesome it is to have a perfectionist. Frankie is new here but she is not new to nails and she is very much worth the trip. I am deducting a star only for timeliness as it was a painfully long nail appt (painfully only because I have a bad back and its really hard to sit very long. I have not gone here once, but THREE times, yes folks, THREE! Each visit for different services, as I purchased a loyalty discount card with a variation of services offered (and now I know why people stay away from offers as such). I would say my first two visits were less than mediocre, but this last visit takes the cake! Let me tell you... My first visit was for a facial with Angela, I called made the appointment, advised I had a discount voucher, and also advised that I wanted to pay the upgrade of $25 for a Euro Facial. Upon arriving to my appointment Angela asked me if I can inform them of any discount vouchers that I may have at the time of booking, because they were unaware I had one. *rolls eyes* I let her know that I would be more cautious next time, but whatever .. I ended up leaving paying a total of $95.00. I'm not the best at math but I'm not certain how $25.00 plus 25.00 (for added glycolic peel), + %18 gratuity (for a 150.00 service that would be $27.00) = $95.00, nonetheless, I paid for the facial I could have easily done for myself at home. Oh btw she finished my session with a 'moisturizer', which was actually a silicon based foundation primer. I ended up washing it off. My next visit was for a massage. Also, with Angela. I made it a point to advise of my discount voucher at the time of booking, I also advised I wanted to upgrade my 30 minute massage, to a 1 hour massage for an additional $30.00. When I arrived, I made sure to remind the receptionist of my discount voucher. While I was undressing, Angela opened the door, no knock. I was fully de-robed, she paid no mind that I was nude and made an abrupt entrance, no apology, just an awkward few minutes of me crawling under the blanket. My massage was eh.. aside from the strange technique she did to my neck with a towel, which left me more sore the next day than how I started. However, no qualms with the total this time. My last visit today, a complimentary haircut, blowout, and style with an %18 gratuity charge.. I have a wedding to attend this weekend and thought well, this will be nice to use for the occasion. I again booked my appointment and advised of my coupon. I did not however, remind them I had it present, FAIL! My stylist was great. She gave me a deep condition treatment, which I thought was part of my service, and all the other perks that came along with my coupon. She took her time, and I was very pleased with the outcome. However, at checkout, is where the problem comes. Angela (the apparent owner) is not present and the receptionist advised me that I owe $105.00, to that I show her my coupon and say, I forgot to mention I have this. Which clearly states: complimentary haircut, blowout, and style. She seems confused and then says she has to call Angela to confirm. Once Angela is contacted she hands me her cell so that Angela can advise what I 'owe'. In short: Angela is the owner of a lackluster tanning salon that she describes as a full service spa. If not for the loyalty card that I ignorantly purchased and used THREE times ‍ I would have never set foot in this place. The staff is friendly enough, but to say this place falls short is to put it lightly. I would have easily and readily provided the amount she asked I pay in gratuity for my services. What I don't appreciate is feeling like I'm being swindled for my dollar for services I did not ask for. Do yourselves a favor and do not visit Tropical Looks Day Spa. I will not be back. read more

I'll give them two stars because the staff was friendly and did their best with what was given. I went through the reviews and seen a lot of people said they had a great experience with the spa part of the salon, which I don't doubt because as I said the staff is nice as is the facility. However, I cannot say the same about the mani/pedis that they offer. My sisters and I decided to have a girls day and chose tropical looks because my sister had a g.f and it was a 5yr celebration since we went for her wedding! So the five us went in and they could only do two of us at a time which wasn't a big deal. So three pedicures and three manicures between the five of us took about 3hrs!! They did not have any of the proper equipment for the mani/pedis and 3 of us had chipped/smudged polish by the time we got home (yes we waited for them to be dry, in those 3hrs). The orignal ladies who use to work there must have left them with nothing because that's exactly what they had.. we learned that both women who had been helping us are hairstylist and had been nudged into doing mani/pedis since the departure of the other ladies who were actually nail techs. Honestly for what we payed (before getting anything done ) I expected better and I do not hold the hairstylist responsible, the owner should have informed us when we called two days before! I understand not wanting to turn away business but customer satisfaction should be a priority as well. Don't go here unless you want a massage or your hair done, they should just take mani/pedi off their list of services. read more

Why are all the great nail salons so far away? Tom does an AMAZING job! He really knows how to shape nails and does it the way you would like. He gives a wonderful massage and his paint job is done very well. It's CLEAN! (the place and the tools) YAAAAY!! So important. Tom and Sandy seemed to know everyone that walked in by name and the clients all mentioned how great of a job they do. I also noticed they manage their time well. They were able to balance multiple clients successfully. When I go back up North, I'll definitely be stopping in! read more

The name is what first attracted me to call this business two years ago when looking for a great spray on tan for my senior prom which seemed to be the biggest deal ever at the time.. i had to find one for the right price, and she had to be able to fit me in very last minute...I called the store in the phone book called "Tropical Looks" Angela said she she could fit me in right then and there and the spray tan was only $45.00! I thought wow what a deal! I went in very nervous hoping and praying i did not come out looking like an oomph loompa. IT WAS AMAZING! If you want a quick and easy and reasonably priced spray on tan, Angela the owner does an amazing job, she is the nicest lady, fit me in so last minute and i couldn't have been happier with my tan on what was at the time the most important day of my life LOL, i have been tanning with Angela ever since! I do her spray on tans but mostly i tan in her beds which give you such an amazing glow its unbelievable! I have gotten spray on tans since at other places and none compare! I have gone to other places in the area to tan in a bed also and i always turn out orange and just not the right color like i do at tropical looks. Tropical looks is by far the best place to tan in the Solano County area, very cleanly store, tanning beds stand up or lay down are always clean, you always have a clean towel, they provide lotion in each room for their customers, there are radios built in to each bed so you don't have to bring your own ear phones, bathroom is always clean, and they have the cutest body stickers to put on! I always get the lips! If you tan a lot i recommend you do her buy one month get one free which comes to $82.00 for UNLIMITED tanning for those two months, i haven't found a better deal than that anywhere. Growing up in Vacaville my whole life and in all of my families business we have in the Vacaville and Dixon area, i know how important it is to keep family owned and small businesses alive and how rare it really is. I've been going to this salon for years for everything! Waxing, hair color, nails, and tanning! The prices are wonderful and the staff is always friendly and welcoming! I'm a loyal customer and recommend this place to all my friends and family! The only thing I don't like is the prices of the products they sell like tanning lotions and hair stuff because they are marked up a lot higher compared to the purchase price at supply stores like Cosmo Prof. The tanning lotion I buy at Cosmo Prof for $24.99 is sold here for $60! But salons typically mark up products because that's how they profit so I can't really fault them for it. read more

Had high hopes. First spray tan ever, mentioned that before going to room, lady wasn't informative at all, seemed very irritated with every question I asked. Was very abrupt and rude. Didn't give me any information without me drawing it out of her. Rushed through the whole thing. Was naked in a tiny room in which she left the room several times leaving me exposed to anyone walking by as she opened the door. Tan very blotchy, feet done terribly, lots of streaks, sprayed my face which had makeup on it and you could clearly tell. Told my sister in the waiting room that I was very white and needed to buy the extra spray can for added cover. Didn't give any instruction other than don't shower and touch up the areas she clearly didn't care to fix. When giving me my total she asked several times if I wanted to add a tip in which I did give a 25 dollar tip out of pressure/obligation from the repeated questioning on a tip and how much. Pretty much felt like a dollar sign not a customer. Wasn't asked at end of service tonl check before leaving to ensure I was fully satisfied as all other salons/beauty services professionals would. 100 dollars down the drain but lesson learned. I had long considered strong back into regular tanning when I came across an ad for Tropical Looks in the Vacaville Commons booklet. So I went in and signed up for a month of unlimited tanning. I was SO pleasantly surprised by not only the friendly staff, but how informative and helpful they were. The owner, Angelique, was SO helpful and sweet, she really made me feel right at home. And what was really impressive, everyone remembered me the next time I came in. And each time I check in they are friendly, welcoming, accommodating and make an effort to try! They charged her 85.00, no wash, no haircut, just curled her hair which took under an hour. About 2 hours after her hair was done, we had to have it redone by a friend because it was falling out. I called and made an appointment for a facial and a massage. I give myself better facials at home. She ran the oil through my hair and my skin is not dry but she gave me a hydrating mask and oil. My face looked like a disaster when I was done. I immediately wanted to go home and wash my face but since I still had a massage I tried to wash if off as best I could in the bathroom. My massage on the other hand was amazing! I ended having to get my hair washed and styled just so I could walk out of there into public! The style was also less than satisfactory.
