Jus went in here for a fill after going elsewhere and my nails lifting within a week. This place was close by and it looked clean. They were busy however they got me in for next day at 11 am. They were prompt and respected their scheduled appointments. I didn't catch the nail techs name but she was patient and thorough. My nails were only $35 and I left a $5 tip. There was no charge to use a credit card. Over all very satisfied with the service. Will report back on retention in a few. read more

I've been coming to Tropical Nails for months and I'm always happy with my gel manicure. Tammy is amazing--she truly cares about her work, never rushes, and will redo designs until they're perfect. I'm so disappointed that I paid a visit to this salon. It's everything that makes a bad or mediocre salon, absolutely terrible. This place is the worst for these reasons: 1) During my visit my nail tech probably answered six phone calls. She didn't have an ear piece so she stopped what she was doing to write down new appointments in a huge planner book. I don't think she truly picked up where she left off on my feet and all I could see were that my toe nails were different shapes and lengths. 2) I didn't appreciate the constant laughter and taunting. I felt instinctively that they were laughing at their customers (and probably at me) and not necessarily at a joke. What could be so funny for 45 minutes straight? Unprofessional to say the least. If they were not in fact laughing at me, at any rate, it made for an uncomfortable experience. 3) Because the nail tech was taking phone calls, the services took forever! Not a good use of my time. 4) Unsanitary! At every salon I've visited since the pandemic (or maybe earlier than that), the tech takes out sterilized equipment from a blue sealed bag. This establishment DOES NOT. The equipment used is just lying around from a previous customer. I was mortified. Aren't they in health violation? 4) Super rough technique! The tech sanded down my foot and practically burned me with the abrasion. She also clipped my nail bed so bad it got infected. Now I have to pay a visit to Urgent Care to get this taken care of! 5) Value - not even worth it. Not close. Over priced and unsanitary tools with rude service to boot. I paid $85 for a gel mani pedi without any add-ons. What a rip off. 6) Vibe - dated and dingy. I am kicking myself for coming here. Do yourself a favor and run as far as you can from this place! read more

I went to get my nails done for first time at tropical nails . I got (gel mani and reg) pedicure. My first impression was that it seems like they talk about everyone that walks in and even laugh. Pretty awkward and uncomfortable. After getting nails done about Four hours later my gel mani started to come off. I went back the next day Sat, and they fixed it. But then a few hours later 5 other gel nails came off. Obviously their product is no good in quality. Unity nails down the street charges about same for their services & their customer service is 1000% better! The lady who did my nails has red hair & she is very unprofessional, she kept cutting me, barely cleaned my nails & is horrible at shaping. I literally busted out Yelp and read the reviews to her.. telling her that many people have the same complaints as me she just shrugged it off & made it seem like they were FAKE reviews. Also she kept freaking talking on the phone all loud & to the workers! Literally my mind was spinning. This place is ugly in the outside & inside, not sanitary whatsoever! I'm NEVER coming back! I had to go to urgent care get them drained and go on antibiotics. I hope after reading this review the clean their tools better read more

Since I'm getting married soon, I really appreciated their service!!! This lil hole in the wall salon was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone there was so friendly and hardworking. I decided to do manicure acrylic nails and a regular pedicure with a French tip. I was a little hesitant about trying acrylic nails for the first time, but the process was so pleasant and smooth as the lady fit them in seamlessly and quite perfectly. It was such a breeze having Tammy work on my nails. She is an amazing artist and gives superb attention to detail. The result looks so stunning and I can't wait to look all fancy for my wedding! A few sets I've had there , not gonna lie my nails last every time never has one fell or broke off.. each time I go everyone is so polite and considerate of your wants and needs. Whatever it is you want they make you feel comfortable and try to achieve it. The nails I grew out for months are now uneven stubs. So short, I can't scratch an itch or peel a label. I'm an on/off nail biter. My nails had growin out nicely and the nail bed was healing well. This visit set back months of progress. I talked with Lynne about being a nail biter and that my nails were thin. I wanted them trimmed to the length and shape of my finger tips. Long story short, some of my nails are too short to the point that the nail bed is sore and the nail is lifting. While others are much longer. When I saw them, I tried to minimize the damage and said they were too short, not to take anymore off. She argued that they weren't and that she had cut them based on the size of each nail bed and each of my nail beds were different. So I had some nails past the tips and some stubs and 1/4 inch back from the tip. She filed them down even shorter and filed the tops of my nails after I said they were thin. They've been sore for 2 days from being cut/filed down to the nail bed. read more

The callus removal was half done (I could only see this after I got up), and everything just felt rushed with little attention to detail (cuticles not cleaned, nails not clipped short enough, etc.). The foot massage at the end was lovely, definitely the highlight of the whole experience. While it wasn't the worst service I've had, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back because of how much it costs vs the level of service I received.

The ladies are all very kind, and I like how peaceful it is inside. Nail salons are always so calm and relaxing, so it is definitely a luxury. This was my second time here, and my first time getting a regular manicure/pedicure done. I was asked if I'd like to get my calluses removed for $10, so I went ahead with it. Also, two of my fingernails were glued, since they were breaking and I told them I was worried they would snap off soon, and I wasn't charged extra for them. Both ladies massaged my hands and feet, and that was so special and made it all worth it. The price is reasonable, and they are considerate enough to ask if you'd like to pay beforehand, so you don't have to worry about smudging your nails after they are done. Unfortunately, I work with acetone in a lab, so my fingernails didn't last more than 2 days, but I still loved the shape of them and how it turned out. Even my toenails started rubbing off a lot within the first week. I just wish I took more pictures of it.

I can't say enough good things about this nail salon! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and relaxed. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional, and they truly take the time to listen to what you want. The salon itself is spotless and beautifully decorated, which adds to the calming vibe. They use high-quality products, and you can tell they really care about cleanliness--everything is sanitized, and the tools are either brand new or properly sterilized. I came in for a gel manicure and a pedicure, and both turned out absolutely perfect. My nail technician paid such close attention to detail, making sure the shape and polish were flawless. She even took extra time to make sure my cuticles were cleaned up nicely without feeling rushed. What really stood out to me was how attentive they were throughout the whole process. They checked in multiple times to make sure I was comfortable and happy with how things were going. Plus, the massage chairs during the pedicure? Amazing. Their prices are super reasonable for the level of service you're getting, and they offer a great selection of colors and designs. I've already gotten so many compliments on my nails, and it's only been a few days! It breaks my heart to write this review because the techs at this salon do a good job. However, today I witnessed what appeared to be discrimination towards an African-American woman. The woman walked in at about 5:30 pm (the shop closes at 7), and politely asked for a fill & a pedicure. The workers all scrambled and began saying that they were closed and too busy. "Ok, no problem," the woman said and walked out. No less than 1/2 hr later a white woman comes in asking for a pedicure. The women say to her, "ok, (go) pick your color." I eventually tell them that I am confused. Are they closed or open because they turned the other woman away. They gave me some lame excuse that they knew the white woman they had allowed to stay, but not the other black woman. This is your typical inexpensive "walk-in" nail salon where I'm sure they have a mix of unknown and known clients. I chose not to school them in person, but they knew I was upset. Suffice it to say, I will not be going back ever. I cannot be a party to outright discrimination and racism. It's too bad for them because I'm a pretty good tipper. read more

I recently visited Tropical Nail Spa and had a wonderful experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Even though I arrived close to closing time, they took their time with my manicure and pedicure, ensuring every detail was perfect. I appreciated that they accommodated my last-minute call for availability and invited me in at 6:30, even though they close at 7. Their thoroughness and attention to detail truly made my visit special. I left feeling pampered and satisfied with the fantastic job they did. Highly recommend! read more

I have been a repeat customer for nearly two months. I mentioned to Jody that I was going to be having surgery in a few weeks. Jody and the salon technicians were sincerely concerned. I feel so welcome and taken care of while I am there. I was prescribed some medication and they immediately offered me some crackers and bottled water. They also do a great job on my nails!!!!! I have tried many salons between La Habra and Whittier. Tropical Nails Spa is by far my favorite and the only place I will return to. read more

have been to this salon 3 times already and will continue to be a repeat customer. Tina does my pedicure and she does an excellent job. Even my husband comments how good my toes look. Tina takes her time, very thorough and pedi lasts for a long time. And for $15.00 for a basic pedi, I am extremely happy. They seem clean, a plastic bag is put in the spa tub with some nice smelling salts and they unwrap the metal instruments from a pouch. I give Tina and this salon an A+! read more

One of my favorite spots close to home! I feel they have great prices for the quality of service and product being used. I didn't get the name of the technician that did my nails but she was very patient considering the designs I wanted were a little complicated. I definitely appreciate that type of service! My family and I have been going to Jody and Lynn for years! I have had mani's, pedi's, and waxing, and I must say I have always left a happy customer! Jody and Lynn are hard working and their talent is amazing. They are super friendly and are great at building strong relationships with all of their clients. I followed the girls to this new salon. They are all very friendly, caring and do beautiful nails and toes. I have not yet used their other services but plan to in the future. They make you so comfortable and take special care to make you feel welcome. The shop is extremely clean and tools are enclosed in sealed plastic bags.A++++++ rating! read more

No one told me who was going to be doing my nails til 4:10. In that time I could observe that tech doing the girls nails next to me who seemed annoyed with her. Regardless, appointments aren't taken serious as 2 people walked in after us and they were started right away. Just poor time management. Had someone initially communicated the delay, it would have been fine, but to think on a busy day you're going to have your customer sit there without any communication is laughable. Hence why I cancelled services. Also, friend was done 15 min after the tech was done doing that girls nails, so she would have had to wait over 30+ min for me. No thanks. Just accept the mess up and move on. My issue is the lack of communication and making it seem like it's my bad for your mistake. Do better for those that attempt your salon again. ***also, my friend had to go back into the shop to have her nail fixed by another tech right after, forgot to mention this...but okay***
