I got a couple problems with Tropical Smoothie. You may call it snobby of me, but I'm too old to care about emotions anymore. Ok 1st - Somehow Tropical Smoothie sells hot food but if you ever check out the establishment you'll notice there is no kitchen in there. It's all microwaved for crying out loud. I'd be ok with this if the price point was lower. But for my money, I rather get my bowl from Chipotle or Willy's where I know they at least attempt to cook stuff. 2nd - It was brought to my attention that they put sweetener in almost all smoothies by default. Turbinado is the default sweetener. My problem with this is in MY opinion, fruit has enough sugar on its own. How bad could the smoothie be without added sweetener? Turns out not bad at all. So unless you need a sugar rush, request no sweetener. You won't miss it. They also add water and ice to the smoothie as a filler but that's none my business right? So once you are familiar with how they do business, you can order the right thing and be happy, I guess. But for smoothies I have better options. For food I feel the same as well. read more

After reading the reviews on here, I took a leap of faith and placed a pick up order. Many of the previous reviews revealed the same experience I had. First they made me what they wanted and the order was only 40% correct which I realized when I got home. While I was there, it was amateur night in there. They couldn't handle the 3 people waiting on their orders and one of the employees wanted the other to not take another order. To the management of this place: you really need to take a closer look at your staff and operations. There's no way I would return given it's present state. You need to take action or I don't see how this could survive. Too many similar experiences which is a trend, not a one off. Speaking not with frustration, but sincere constructive criticism. I hope will consider strongly making changes. read more

I've been going to Tropical Smoothie since college, faithfully and I was happy to know that they had one 500 feet away from where I live. I typically walk over here to get my favorite Dragonfruit or Pomegranate Plunge smoothies (or a green smoothie if I'm feeling extra healthy). This place is located in the midst of Midtown, right off the edge of Georgia Tech. The location is really nice and the feel is very appropriate for a smoothie cafe. There's parallel parking along the front of the store but it's not validated. I ordered the Avocolada smoothie with no Turbinado because I was trying to stay away from sugar. The drink was about $6 with tax, and they only provide one size. But for the large size cup, the price was pretty reasonable. I felt like the smoothie was really good. The ingredients include kale, pineapple juice, spinach, and other things. But even without sugar, it was still very sweet, probably thanks to the pineapple. It felt very healthy and natural. I called in to place the order for my drink for pick-up and the employee was super friendly. read more

This location is incredibly slow and has horrible service. I've been to this location several times, only for its convenience and my smoothie craving. Sometimes I just opt out of even going because of the service. Please try to order ahead and have plenty of time because they take forever to blend ingredients together!! I stopped by this Tropical Smoothie Cafe to grab my birthday smoothie today. Upon entering, I felt a wave of heat. It was more hot and humid inside the store than it was outside. Maybe the AC is broken? Service is slow. It took about 10 min before any of the staff members said anything to me. I've been to other TSC locations before, but it was my first time at the midtown location and my experience here is subpar compared to others. At some point, I was able to order my Sunrise Sunset smoothie ($4.99) and it came out promptly. I've only tried the Sunrise Sunset smoothie and it's very yummy! This Tropical Smoothie cafe is one of my favorite! I always get the Chipotle Chicken Club with a Jetty Punch smoothie...it hits the spot!! It's super light but still filling. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious. This is the perfect lunch spot. It's not super crowded unless you come right at 12pm. For all the health nuts they do have Superfood smoothies as well! Okay smoothie and food selection. Probably not my first choice if I'm really craving a smoothie but based on the location It was the only healthy thing around at the time. A selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis as well as a variety of veggie and fruit smoothies. I got the chicken club and a strawberry smoothie. I got the club as a wrap instead of a panini. The sandwich was "wet" as in covered in a lot of sauce as well as lacking in flavor. Maybe next time i will try a different wrap and smoothie combination. read more

I was one of the first customers for the grand opening of this Tropical Smoothie Cafe. What a fantastic addition this cafe to the Tech Square community! I highly recommend everyone make a stop by this place. The Caribbean Jerk Wrap is incredible and is now my new fave. The Chipotle Chicken Club flatbread is also a real treat. There are a number of delicious looking smoothie blends but I'm in love with the Island Green Smoothie... it's made with real fruits and vegetables and is a cool fresh treat on a hot Atlanta afternoon. The staff is very friendly, quick, and service oriented. As a matter of fact, I witnessed a customer bring along his dog and tied the pet to a sign outdoors. The dog was anxious with being tied up outside, so one of the team members went out to comfort the animal while its owner finished his purchase. I thought to myself, "that's going above and beyond for the customer. I will definitely be a regular at this cafe." I highly recommend this establishment! read more

Today was my first visit to Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I had a Strawberry Banana smoothie (pic attached, don't remember the name) and I liked it a lot. The place is very conveniently located on the campus and has a spacious arrangement inside for people who wish to stay in and have their food/smoothie there. The staff was quite friendly and the service time was pretty short too. The place also had a very nice and healthy breakfast and sandwiches menu. I would surely recommend trying out this place more than once. read more

My expectations are already low coming here.. but today was just a mess. Now, I used to work at Tropical Smoothie myself a few years back so I have general knowledge of how things are supposed to work behind the counter. If you're in a rush to be somewhere and need to call in for a pick up order, I do not recommend. A man in front of me had placed an order over the phone and from the looks of it, his smoothie was never made. He left with no smoothie I ordered a strawberry chia banana boost. When I worked at Tropical smoothie, my manager stressed that peanut butter beverages be made in a designated blender because people have nut allergies (I mean, duh). Blenders ate to be thoroughly washed as well. So why does my strawberry chia smoothie taste like peanut butter? Gross. Thank God I'm not allergic to peanuts. Always taste your smoothie before leaving this place because it might be trash. If you have any food allergies, I would just avoid this place altogether. read more

I ordered online at 8:20am my food quite was 8:41. I arrived at 8:39 . My food was ready but not my smoothies. They proceeded to fix walk in smoothies before mine. I tried waiting a couple minutes but i couldn't wait any longer as i needed to get to work. We ordered the jerk chicken and smoothie meal along with the banana crunch peanut butter flat bread and smoothie. The jerk chicken quesadilla we ordered was needless to say not that once we opened it and started eating. It was simply just a chicken quesadilla. Before we left, I had to ask the young lady to send me back the difference of the meal considering my smoothies were not ready. The young lady was working alone and the manager should be ashamed.
