The customer service at this location is horrible. I will never go to this location again. I usually go to tropical smoothie at least 5 times a week. My son love their food and smoothie. We went there order food and smoothies, the top was not put on the correct way as my son got to my car the entire smoothie spilled. My son said the young boy that made the smoothie was having a hard time putting the top on one of his co workers came to assist him. My son was the last customer. I went back to the door the young lady let me inside. A very rude young lady came from the back rolling her eyes and moving her neck telling me it's nothing that can be done the blenders are off and she don't know why I'm still standing there. I ask to speak to the manager then young lady face time the manager. The manager was even worse she was so nasty and rude. Again I will never step in this location again . I was not looking for no money back and even if the blenders was off they could have said just come back in the morning we can re make the smoothie for you. I was so annoyed with the service and the rudeness. They will never get another dime from me. We been going to another location and the service is so much better. Kindness and respect will always get you further in life. This location don't deserve no stars at all not even one. read more

So as a person who is constantly conscious of food waste when there are food deserts in our counties I stumbled upon something preposterous. At the Bowie Tropical Smoothie Cafe that I frequent at least 4 times a week I sit and watch the workers throw away at least a full cup of smoothie overages. When asked for the remainder I was told they count cups so they cannot give it to me and they toss it in the sink. In Other counties and in Virginia I would be given a sample cup at least to give it to the kids. Or told that if I had a cup they'd be able to give what's left over of our order. Smoothie King happily does it. So after the manager refused to honor my request I asked to speak to her manager in which she called one of the owners, Chanel. She gave me a bogus schpeel about it being their policy to throw away any extras. Even, and especially small local businesses who aren't big names will happily give you the extra even in a small sample cup. Well when the extras approach being more than a cup I see that as major waste if someone can consume it. It appeared that the workers were being very careless not measuring resulting in so much waste and loss. So wouldn't you know it the team took their time measuring to ensure I get little or no smoothie left this time . Even with them doing so I had more than half a cup of each of the three smoothies I purchased. Tsk tsk. To add insult to injury Eli, one of the young workers made a smart comment upon my kids and I leaving and when asked to repeat what he said wouldn't. All workers eyed me and chatted and snickered amongst themselves in the most disrespectful way. When all I asked was for what I paid for that would have been thrown away knowing the kids with me were happy to have that little bit while learning a lesson about waste and consciousness in humanity. Perhaps Chanel, the owner needs to retrain her employees in measurement AND customer service. So two stars for a mediocre effort on the Owners part for 'this time I'll give you the overages'. I will be returning as usual with an extra cup in hand for my paid for waste. And if I don't get it I'll be sure to drop it to one star like it's hot!. And I'll be sure to go across the street to Chik Fil A where it will be their pleasure to serve me. (p.s. the employees were evidently so in their feelings that they didn't even marker the name of the smoothie on the cups so I had to guess which of the green ones was mine). Came here and waited nearly 30-35 minutes for my food. When I came in the employee looked annoyed by me coming in because they were busy. When in ordered I was told 10 minutes for the food. They did not know I could see the screen with my order and the amount of time I'd been waiting. After being told they were making it two times I eventually got my order. He did give me a coupon for a free item after seeing another employee give one to a lady who also had been waiting an eternity. I say go to Gambrills and skip this place. read more

The service in this place is impeccable. Everyone is smiling and excited to be here. I've been once before to the one in Crofton and the food and avacolada smoothie is on point. I don't think I'll ever go back to Smoothie king. The cashier recommended I get the chicken pesto flatbread and it was amazing. I also had the island green smoothie and was not disappointed. I recently had an awful experience here at this location. On Sunday July 25th I placed a mobile order for myself and my partner to avoid standing in the establishment for our food and smoothies. I was given a pick up time of 3:32 pm that afternoon I waited an additional 15 minutes before going inside to pick up my food. Upon arrival I was never greeted like I would've been at another cafe location, but instead given multiple stares with no acknowledgement. Once someone decided to notice me (with AirPods on) I was asked for the name of my order. I received my food, but no smoothies it was rudely explained that "they didn't get no ticket for drinks just food." They asked for my confirmation email to prove my order as if I needed to lie. Once going to retrieve my phone to produce the email it was throughly examined again as if I needed to lie about my order. I waited an additional 20 minutes for drinks that should've been prepared before my arrival. This is not the first that this has happened at this location just the first time speaking on it. I will spare the details to whomever may read this about the poor quality of food and drinks that were made that day. I have reached out to corporate in regards to my dissatisfaction and refund request. They have been helpful and have done the best that they can do. Now I'm trying to reach out to the storefront for the matter and I can't get one individual to answer the phone for an open business. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. read more

Everything always tastes good but every time I've been in there, it is the SLOWEST service. Most of the time I'm coming in on a 30 minute break from work and I need to get in and get out. The employees there dilly dally, act like there isn't any care in the world, no urgency to move faster. I expect one smoothie to take 3-5 minutes with no line. Sometimes I'm spending longer than that when no one else is in the store as the employees move slow and talk to each other. It honestly deters me from going here in the future. read more

These employees do not greet you when you walk in, they do not make any effort to prioritize you as a customer and it honestly feels like you need to ask their permission to make time to take your order. The food is always great but the service is hit or miss (usually miss). Several times I've ordered online and when I arrive to pick up the employees literally stare at me. No one greets you or ask how they can assist you when you're standing at the clearly labeled pick up area. So I wait to be acknowledged (never happens). I've been going to this location for about a month rather consistently. Always fresh, Always DELICIOUS. I was there yesterday for what I call brunch and had a wrap and a smoothie. It was AMAZING. However I couldn't finish it. Extremely filling. I hadn't eaten for about 20 hours so I was famished. Add to that being a big eater I was surprised. I snacked on nuts and a fruit until dinner which was two slices of pizza. Wasn't really hungry like that. I tried this Tropical Smoothie location again with only slight improvement: the lettuce was not fresh again, but at least this time, it didn't completely ruin the sandwich. By the end, I had to pull the non-fresh lettuce out. If I had to order from here again, I would order it with no vegetables in the sandwich just in case and plan to use my own produce. For a fast food restaurant, this is pretty good. It's fresh, and they have a more interesting menu than most places. More than just the standard club sandwich, turkey sandwich, and dull salads. I had the hummus veggie bowl; it wasn't gourmet, but it was good and satisfying. I felt like I was eating something good for me. I was here several years ago, and had the same experience, so they're consistent. (Although it looks like this location doesn't have the full menu, or at least not all the bowls.) read more

Each smoothie had to be shaken and placed back on the machine at least 2-3 times. Yes, I stood and observed. Upon entering, we stood at the cashier register, there was no one in front of us, for at least 3-5mins before someone acknowledged us and eventually came to take the order (that should have been the sign to leave). There were 3 females and 1 gentleman working in the store. The young man was working very hard and was pleasant. The females all seemed to have attitudes as if they didn't want to be there. Last 4 times I was in there in the evening, the entire restaurant is filled with smoke. It burns your eyes and makes your throat hurt. Learn to cook whatever it is that you keep burning. Also, my husband and I both got stomach aches from the smoothies we had. They were two different kinds. Bananas they used were beyond "ripe". The yogurt they slopped in there looked hot. All of the containers are open/not covered.The girl that made my drink threw some things in the blender and sat it behind her and walked away. The other girl picked it up, looked in it added ice and blended it and it was not at all what I ordered. It was a runny sugary mess. These employees need to be managed. They need to be accountable and they need to speak to customers when they come in and even while they are standing there waiting for the blender to run instead of staring over you out the window. Customer service is lacking. Employees need training. Today, I stood there and watched five employees joke around instead of work. One guy walked to the bathroom dancing. My son went into tropical smoothie to get a drink after a long day of work. Thirty minutes later, My son comes out as the last person in tropical smoothie but was the first to go inside. After seeing everyone that enter last leave, I asked him what happened he said" They had messed up on the drink and said they would make a new one but continued on the other orders they had" No one decided to fix the mistake immediately everyone continued making other drinks putting my sons drink at the end of the orders. My son had said" he saw a lot of people walk out with four drink and he only ordered two. We later called tropical smoothie and the manger picked up. The manger was nothing but excuses and just said she wasn't up at the front but my son had said" she was at the front and she was lying. I asked the manger Shanelle to refund me because this was not right. The manger said my son could come in and get a VIP card which was only useful for one drink. I had my son check the card to see if we could use it a different store. This tropical smoothie discriminates kids just because they are young and patient. Never order from this tropical smoothie they don't honor your money.
