Zach and crew were very professional and gave suggestions along the way. We had leaks in our koi pond and jacuzzi and a crack in our pool. Zach redesigned our entire backyard since we had to rip up everything to repair the plumbing leaks. His crew made it look amazing. Zack and the team at Tru Landscspe are outstanding! Tru Landscspe turned my backyard from concrete and dirt into my own private mini resort oasis. From the initial design and quote to project completion, the team was professional, timely, honest, and a pleasure to work with. One thing I appreciated about Tru Landscspe was the constant communication and project updates. Additionally, the pay-as-you-go philosophy provided a sense of security that other companies did not provide. Further, once demolition and construction began, someone was working on the project every day, and in some cases on weekends, too. I also like the "al a carte" pricing and the ability to add and remove features. For example, in my initial design, I included a bbq island in the project. Unfortunately, due to material costs tripling post-pandemic, I was able to remove it from the project to stay on budget. The project employees (those who showed up every day) were amazing. They were trustworthy, dependable, and provided valuable input and project suggestions that improved the original designs. They took great pride in their work, and I felt they treated my home as if it was their own. I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with Tru Landscape and the quality of their work. Zach and his team did the cement, pavers and planters in our backyard. He was easy to work with, and his pricing was very competitive. The yard needed to be graded to improve drainage, and required new cement slabs as well as porcelain pavers and a deck. I did not want drains installed in either the cement slab or in the pavers, so it took careful planning to get the grading correct. The finished job is beautiful and there is no standing water on any of the surfaces. Zach was there each day, and his team finished the job ahead of schedule. They cleaned up each day and left the property presentable. I will be calling TRU Landscape if I have any needs in the future. read more

Avoid at all costs. They presented themselves as experienced landscapers but the more the did the less happy I became. Finally I said enough is enough. They put in a lighting system. When 3 bulbs burned out I was charged $225 for bulbs that I found out actually cost $3.95 each. When I asked is this a fair price I was told yes it was. $75 for something that costs $3.95 per bulb. Took all of 5 minutes to change the bulbs. I had a vegetable garden. They installed a battery operated sprinklers to water the garden and my fruit grove. I was promised they would maintain the system. Batteries failed and I lost my entire vegetable garden last year. They installed the same system for my citrus fruit grove. Wound up with stunted fruit due to a lack of water. They claimed it was the controller. $350 later, I noticed the other day my variegated striped pink lemon tree was wilted. I checked and found the batteries dead again. When I called and asked them to replace the batteries after they came for their weekly service I found it was not done. When I again called Tobi said he is a small company and it is not his problem. If it isn't his problem, whose is it? I needed tree trimming. His estimates were hundreds of dollars greater than other people I called. I asked them to trim vines that were damaging my roof. They didn't. Finally I did it myself. When I call Tobi all he does is like to argue. I asked him to fix a sprinkler. He replaced it, charged me for it, and when it broke again claimed I never asked him to fix it in the first place. Even after showing him the bill he claimed it was for something else. He would always bill every year for fertilizing and seeding but now that I am retired I watched the crew. They are a mow, blow, and go and never did the fertilizing or seeding. When I told him they never did the work and I wouldn't pay the next visit they fertilized but never did the seeding. The only thing Tobi seems to be good at is billing you and charging way more than an equivalent gardener. The wilted lemon tree was the last straw. Gardeners are a dime a dozen. After being told he would not take responsibility for anything I found another company who will. Good riddance. DO NOT USE TRU LANDSCAPING unless all you want is mediocre work and someone to argue with you. read more

I am truly amazed by the level of service I received from Tobi and everyone at TRU Landscaping Services. Over the last four months, I have spent countless hours in my amazing new backyard, but had a bit of a hiccup when the first rain of the season occurred. In addition to all of the aesthetic work that was done in our yard, Tobi and his team also installed a very thorough drainage system; however, water started backing up into the yard when the first substantial precipitation occurred. I immediately called Tru Landscaping and they were at my house within a week and corrected the issue at not additionally cost. While the price was right, I really appreciated that the issue was resolved in a no-fault manner. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate the manner in which Tobi runs his business. read more

Revising our review: Sorry to say that after being loyal customers for several years, and after recommending their services many others - we have chosen to discontinue working with Tru Landscape, entirely. This is due to a lack of basic customer service. They are quick to provide estimates. But it is nearly impossible to get work scheduled. They do not answer or return our calls. We waited for two and a half months before we finally gave up and went with another company. This new company was also booked pretty far out, but responded promptly. Great Service and Great Work I cant say enough about what a great company tru-landscape has been for me. They started by doing my landscape maintenance at my home. When we bought our house we had major issues with the grass and they worked it all out. I now have amazing green grass with virtually no weeds. Also they fixed all of our sprinklers so that my car does not get washed every night. Recently I have hired them to maintain our office property as well. What a great experience it was for us to work with Zach and TRU Landscape. We had purchased a home in Laguna Niguel and between the time we bought it and moved in, the previous owner had just let the landscaping go. The house was beautiful and both the larger front and backyards were dismal. To top if off, the house sits on a big corner lot in a beautiful community where every single home has breathing landscaping. I went to the 'next door' site to ask for recommendations and saw TRU's name several times with 5 star ratings so I called Zach. He came out, helped us figure out what would look best in our yard and the rest was a breeze. The crew was always on time, extremely professional and hardworking. They also built some beautiful retaining walls and did a special treatment to the concrete steps. In the middle of the project, Zach noticed that our newly redone pool seemed to have a leak (we would not have caught this) and sure enough, he was right. Wish we would have redone the pool with him! Now our neighbors walk by and make an effort to let us know how beautiful the yard looks. Zac and team get all of the credit. I would hire him over and over again. You will not be disappointed. I am going to have to agree with the other review. Our time working with Tru Landscape was up and down. The finished product is ok but not what we were hoping for. Tobi was rarely seen and really only showed up when he needed payment. When we had issues with things Tobi would either say "well I knew this wasn't the best thing you could do" but he never offered us other options in the planning phase nor did he educate us on the reasons other options that may be a better choice... We originally had synthetic turn which Tobi's work crews destroyed it in the process of doing our back yard. So we had to replace the 1 year old synthetic turf (which was not cheap) with brand new grass. The problem is they did a poor job installing the grass. The seams are very visible and they did no pet backfill so the grass has already began smelling like pet urine. They also didn't do things the way we asked. We asked for floating benches and the built benches with visible braces, when the braces were installed crooked we asked Tobi to fix them and he said,"that would be really hard to do." So they never fixed them. We also asked Rojelio one of his workers to make sure the install an electrical line to our back corner of our yard (for a future water feature) prior to installing the grass but it never happen. So now we will not be able to put in a water feature. We also asked for a 3ft x 3ft firepit and they built a 4ft x 4ft firepit. It seems like they have a hard time listening to the client. The final product will do, but we don't feel it was up to par with the financial investment. We are a bit let down but are also apprehensive to have them come out and try to fix things because we think they did the best they could. Update: Well 8 or so months later, everything is holding up great! These guys work has stood the test of time, everything still looks brand new. I will use these guys again in the future. read more

Thanks Tobi, your crew did a great job. We were taking advantage of the turf buyback program and wanted to remove 5000 square feet of grass and replace it with mulch and a crushed granite pathway. Tobi came out and bid the job at a fair price. I got a good feeling about him when we first met and knew I had chosen the right company for the job. The project was a bit overwhelming in scope and Tobi and crew were very flexible working out the details as we went. Some companies wanted us to pay them $2500 for a design fee before starting the project. Although in hindsight a design would have helped in some respect, I would much rather invest the money in the actual work. Having Tobi work through the issues as they came up allowed us to avoid this design fee. As the project went on extra things would come up that needed addressing. Little thing that I had not thought about would need to be done. I expected for all of these things to get charged. I was wrong. Tobi would just take care of it. That is good customer service! There were a couple of issues that came up at the end of the project that I wasn't happy with. Since I had already paid Tobi, I was afraid he was going to blow me off and not respond to me. Instead when I got a hold of him he told me he would quickly take care of the issues. The receptionist at the office was great to work with also. Thanks Leanne. Nick was the Lead on the job and he was wonderful, he set me at ease when there was a mix-up (just a misunderstanding) and he did it all while staying calm and respectful. I had a scheduled appointment with Tobi for today, Thursday, 3/9/17, at 10 AM. I rec'd a call at 9:39 AM and the receptionist said that Tobi decided to cancel the appointment entirely. She stated that he got a couple of big projects that would last thru August; thus, my appointment was cancelled and not even rescheduled. He didn't even have the guts to call me himself, instead he gave that duty to some poor receptionist. I am going to assume that he had landed the projects way before he decided to cancel my appointment, so why even schedule an appointment if you know that you are not going to honor it. This was a total waste of my time and I ended up losing 4 hours of vacation time. Furthermore, I was referred by one of his past customers. I will definitely be letting that customer know of what happened. read more

My wood porch was made with damaged wood and the workers left several chunks of concrete on my grass after constructing my driveway. The wood was not properly patched and painted and I was charged for plants that were not purchased and installed. Zach was less than sympathetic when I pointed out the poorly constructed porch and the mess left behind by the workers. read more
