The food is always good and it's a place we really enjoy. I love the healthy options and always leave there feeling good about the quality of what I am getting. My only complaint is that the Domain location in Austin is always freezing cold. Whether it's summer or winter, I laugh to myself because everyone is sitting in their coats eating. My suggestion to the business is to regulate your indoor temperatures so your paying customers are comfortable. You know you have a problem when the hostess is also in a coat. read more

Was a bit skeptical of trying what's classified as a "Vegan" restaurant, because I'm definitely more of a carnivore than an omnivore......but hey sometimes you gotta step out of your comfort zone and do something different, and my friend was a Vegan so this is where the food options led us..... First let me start by saying I loved it! So glad I came and gave it a shot. The atmosphere was great, our server Dexter was awesome, and the food, was so good. I must admit I didn't go full vegan I did have the turkey burger for dinner, but many other items on the menu stood out to me as well.....that did lean to the vegetarian/vegan side of things. As appetizers we got the Edamame dumplings, which I enjoyed. And the turkey burger was so delicious (albeit slightly messy). The burger was juicy and not dry like many other turkey burgers tend to be, and it had this amazing jalapeno remoulade on it, with avocado, and I had a side of sweet potato fries, delish!!! We also both got the apple gold rush to drink and it was nice and smooth if you're a bourbon drinker! I will be back, this place won't turn me Vegan, but it will help me....eat more veggies!!! True foods has a beautiful interior and modern appeal. The place is spacious and has a very natural atmosphere, given its green decor and bright lighting. The dishes are also quite versatile, ranging from vegan burgers to Asian-styled comfort foods. I've been here several times and went most recently to get brunch with a friend. I had the avocado toast and some coffee, and they were both perfectly made. I love how you can trust that the ingredients they use at TFK are fresh and wholesome, plus I love how diet-friendly they are for people who may be gluten free, vegan, etc. The atmosphere is great too, with the way you get a front row view into the kitchen - fresh fruits and veggies abounding! I had a reservation here for a birthday dinner and was able to be seated promptly. The restaurant was a lot bigger than I had expected, and the decor was very nice and fitting. Overall, the food was good but nothing too exciting. I ordered the Cashew Pad Thai with chicken, and my friends all got variations of their burgers. The Pad Thai was very fresh, however the flavors were similar to other Pad Thais that I've had in the past which were also a lot cheaper. My friends seemed to enjoy their burgers though. I received a complimentary flourless chocolate cake for my birthday, which was probably the best part of the dinner! While the food and atmosphere was good, I don't think I'd frequent this location due to the price. I feel as though you can get the same food elsewhere for half the cost. read more

This is a hip place in The ATX. We got reservations and got in to a table quickly. Recommend reservations on weekends. We were seated and told that our server would be with us shortly. That didn't happen. After sitting for roughly 10 minutes the manager noted the displeasure in my countenance and approached and took our drink and appetizer orders. She said that our waiter Chase would be there shortly to introduce himself. We waited, and waited, and waited some more...chase is good at making you wait. Chase finally graced us with his presence and asked if he could get us drinks and apps. I explained someone did that 10 minutes ago, he was too late and right on queue the support staff brought drinks and our app. Chase took credit for that. Chase walked away and I didn't see Chase for another 20 minutes. As you can see chase sucks as a server. In this time period the manager came by again took our entree order and chatted us up. I see Chase he's the server at a table right next to us he provides them a check and never turns around to see if we need anything...just walks away. Chase really effing sucks as a server. I finally see Chase again and was able to flag him down, I request water and the check. Chase returns in 2 minutes, I immediately give him my card and 5 minutes later he returns. That was the best service I got from Chase all night. I don't even remember if I liked the food, the experience I had because of my terrible server Chase spoiled the entire meal. Loved it! The Korean Steak was amazing. The forbidden rice was something unusual to me and was fantastic. I'm still not sure exactly what it was but I loved it. My wife had the fish and she loved it. My son's girlfriend is vegan and her taste buds were happy as well. There is something for everyone there. Wait staff was terrific as was the atmosphere. This place is a winner! My only complaint was the parking as we used the garage under the Trader Joe's and $3 for every 20 minutes was a bit much and then a service charge on top of that to use the fee charging system in place! $18 to park and then $1 SC. This is why I hate downtown. I doubt the restaurant has any control over that but when we go back we will probably check out the other location at the Domain which has free parking available nearby. read more

I used to hear my friend raving about True Food constantly. Her obsession piqued my curiosity, but it was the edamame dumplings that sparked my own love affair with the place. Most everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious, from the poke to the grass-fed burger to the skinny margs to the chocolate chip cookies to the pizza slices I've snagged (I will eventually work my way through the entire menu, lol.) The food is dynamic, innovative, healthy, and most importantly - HECKIN TASTY! Just an all around fantastic meal. You walk in, and instantly, you just know this place is a well kept establishment. It has that clean and bright feel the they make sure is just right. Unlike most restaurants these days, True Food is nice and lit up. You can easily see the menu AND the people you are sitting with. Before you even have a chance to think about food, you start off this meal right. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and best of all, refilled my water cup the moment it even got close to empty. For a heavy water drinker, this is essential at any meal. As for the food, every dish came out looking fresh as can be and filled with flavor. I went with the recommended lasagna and wasn't disappointed. The massive serving was the perfect dish and boy did it hit the spot. There were so many different menu items that I wanted to try so I will make sure to come back. While its not the cheapest spot, you are paying for quality food and great service. read more

I found True Food when I was searching for a patio-equipped vegetarian restaurant close to downtown to meet a friend for lunch. Totally exceeded my expectations! While the menu isn't strictly vegetarian, the focus on the anti-inflammatory diet recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil (the Harvard health guru behind the concept) makes for some really creative and colorful vegetarian and vegan menu items. They also have dishes they will modify for paleo diets. I finally settled on the Ancient Grain Bowl, which is a unique and balanced combo of fresh vegetables and yeah, ancient grains. The Hummus plate appetizer is phenomenal and shares well with one other person. The atmosphere at True Food is upscale casual, perfect for downtown diners, with high ceilings and lots of calming air space indoors and a nice covered patio out back. It does get crowded for lunch (and probably dinner), but I was able to make reservations through the Yelp app and it went smoothly both times I visited. Because yeah, the next thing I did was invite my omnivore husband back to share a meal with me at this cool spot. He ordered a meat dish and was as pleased as I was with the result. The only bummer about this location is that the attached parking lot has raised its prices four-fold since opening, and the local businesses only validate for one hour, no matter how many of them you visit. So it's advisable to carpool, walk, or bike to Seaholm if you're planning to spend longer than an hour. And with the Trader Joe's and all the cool shops, that would be easy to do. read more

Tyler was our server and he was SO GREAT! We had a gluten free person and 2 people eating Whole 30 diets. Tyler brought over a Whole 30 menu for the girls to look at and pick options from. He made sure to write dietary specifications down and make the chef aware of everything. The food was amazing!!! Chef Joseph came out at the end to say hi and make sure everyone had a great meal. We decided on this location because we absolutely love the Seaholm district and this entire part of downtown. The exterior of the restaurant was quite a draw and there was outside seating as well. When getting inside we were quickly seated and the vibe in here was very lively and the decor had a great modern touch to it. Upon receiving my food I was delighted by the way it looked and especially with the speed it came out it. It was less than 5 minutes after we ordered that we got our food! Our waiter was very informed and told us a little bit about the restaurant and the fact that they only serve anti inflammatory foods. The only thing that I was unpleased with was the size. After leaving here I was not full in the slightest. I had to practically eat another meal afterwards which defeated the purpose of paying $25 for the food. I specifically asked the waiter about which meals were the largest and based on what he said this was the most filling menu item so although it was tasty and healthy I don't know that I'd return any time soon. We came here for dinner on a busy Saturday, and there was a little bit of a wait, but we arrived before the rush so it was good. We got a table fairly quickly, there is a ton of outside seating if you wanted to sit in the Texas Summer Heat, those tables were empty so I imagine you could get a table real quick. Around 7:30 PM it got really busy and the wait seemed to grow. The menu had some great options, we got the lasagna bolognese and the teriyaki quinoa bowl. The food was good, but the portions are so tiny that most of us left hungry. The lasagna is not your typical lasagna if that is what you are looking for, but it was good. The teriyaki bowl was also quite good, but again the portions were so tiny that we were all hungry after dinner. For the price you are paying plus parking, it would be nice to get just 1.5 times the size that they are currently serving. They will validate 1 hour of free parking, so make sure to bring your parking ticket to dinner. The atmosphere is nice, except if you are sitting in front of the door during sunset, it is absolutely blinding to the point where you can't open your eyes to talk to the other guests until the door is closed. There is limited to no seating to wait for your table. Our server was super friendly, but it took her a very long time to bring us our drinks. Nearly 10 minutes before we got just water. The alcohol was a hit or miss at times, the order would come quickly and other times the drinks were forgotten about until we were nearly through with our food. The food is good, but the price and hassle to get here isn't worth it to me. There are great other healthy food type places in Austin, that serve you a healthy decent amount of food for the same price and don't require paid parking. read more

This is a food movement I'd like to see explode.
