They offer a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. But carnivores, such as myself, need not fret! There are plenty of meat and seafood choices as well. Fun facts: you can also add meat to most of their dishes, and I love that they post the calories on their menu. They have a full bar and offer cocktails such as the skinny margarita, so even drinking alcohol makes you feel good inside! The wife opted for the apple gold rush (150 calories) and I had the Pom Collins (170 calories). Both were very light and refreshing. As for food, we ordered the edamame dumplings and charred cauliflower for appetizers. Delicious! It is no wonder reviewers on Yelp rave about them. I can eat them all day! For the main dish we had the Korean noodle with shrimp added and the Thai coconut seabass. All were so tasty and flavorful. I could not stop moaning while eating. Finally, we shared the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. So glad we ordered it because it was amazing! The only negative thing we experienced while dining here was when our waiter came around and literally dumped the two main dishes on our table while we were still eating our appetizers. He did not say a word - just turned around and left. We thought that was strange, considering he was very attentive prior to that event. We just shrugged it off, and continued to enjoy our dinner. True Food is now my top go-to spot for healthy, delicious food. The menu is based on seasonal foods that are anti-inflammatory, and there are great options for omnivores and herbivores alike (vegan included). The Tusli Tea, made with holy basil and ginger honey, is a great choice for resetting your body. The lettuce wraps were delicious with just the right amount of heat and crunch. The roasted carrots are a MUST order (its 6am and i could seriously eat them for breakfast right now). There is also a great selection of organic cocktails and the ambiance is fresh and delightful. The food is usually great here and the menu is very detailed to prevent any issues with allergies/preferences. I came in tonight, and ordered a burger, I asked for no sauces and specifically asked if there were any condiments other than what was listed, I was told there were not. After I ordered, I was told they were out of the regular buns and they asked if I was okay with a gluten free one, that was fine but slightly disappointing. I ordered the burger medium and it definitely came out overly well done, it also came out with some sauce all over the bun and toppings, I specifically asked about any other condiments for this reason. I asked the bartender what it was and he said it was like some vegan mayo, which I really didn't want but it was late and I couldn't wait another 20 mins for a remake. I tried my best to make it work by taking all of the toppings (that pretty much sold me on the burger) off and just to eat the burger party until I discovered there was mayo on the bottom bun too. I had about half of the burnt patty and asked for the bill. This was a pretty disappointing experience. Staff should know the menu, and after he noticed I couldn't salvage any of it and didn't want it to go, I should've been offered a partial refund at the least. read more

We dined here in the evening hours on Saturday with our friends. Upon seating, we were told that we could place our orders via their app but for some technical reasons, none of us could place an order so we placed our orders manually starting with drinks, and appetizers. Overall, the food was okay and overpriced for what it's worth. Nothing really spectacular. Aside from the food, the way they handled our transactions is why I'm rating it 3 star and it's all because of their PoS (Point of Sale) system. I tried to pay using the barcode that was on the receipt and that didn't work so well so I was asked to pay by card, so I did and so did my friend. As we stood up after paying (so we thought) and were headed towards the exit, we were stopped and told to pay again as the previous transaction did not go thru! I had never been to this location before, but was pleased to know they had a similar menu to the other National locations I have visited. The staff was friendly and service was fast. We were also seated in a party of four without a reservation. Prices are fair too, especially for the portions. We started with the truffle flat bread, It's too bad that I think this is a seasonal menu item, because It was one of the best appetizers I've ever had. The flavors came together perfectly. Creamy cheese, fresh arugula, hint of sweetness and umami. Loved this. Then to drink I got the kale aid. Felt like the perfect *detox* after a weekend of drinking and junk food. I stopped in with my eleven year old son to meet a friend and her two toddlers for lunch this weekend. I love this place because the decor is gorgeous and very bright, with lots of greenery, windows and natural light. It's very calming and therapeutic. Our waiter was attentive and the restaurant was very accommodating to our kids. True Food has a fantastic seasonal menu with vegan, vegetarian and any other dietary restriction you need. The food is all fresh and local and you can taste the difference. Everything is seasoned really well. In the past I've had the brussel sprouts, vegan butternut squash pizza, the arugula pizza, the flourless chocolate cake, and some sort of noodle dish. The flavors did not disappoint. How did it take that long? 2) although the ingredients seemed fresh I think it's a tad bit overpriced considering the portion size. 3) food was ok. Gluten free!!!! Thank you. I cried because the food was so good and I struggle to eat out due to severe allergies and restrictions. I recently turned gluten and diary free- not by choice. It's been hard, but True Food Kitchen has given me hope!!! The gluten free wrap is AMAZING. It seems homemade. I would buy a bag of them to keep at my house they were so delicious. Tasted like what I was used to that's not gluten free. I wish they had some non diary and gluten free sauce options for the burger. The vegan burger was delicious. My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel next door, so this place was super convenient. It's near the red line, so we didn't even get lost finding it. I also got a dragonfruit limeade which was so so refreshing and not overly sweet which I appreciated! Truthfully, I expected more plant based options since this restaurant is supposed to be very vegetarian friendly. In the future, it would be great if they offered more menu items with vegetarian proteins (tofu, seitan, tempeh, etc) or maybe the option to substitute a vegetarian protein into items that are already on the menu in order to increase options for plant based diets. I had only been here once before and I remembered it was good. However, today it was great! I had lunch with a friend who is a regular, so she recommended her favorite, the fabulous, chopped salad. But get this, she asked them to add chopped chicken pieces, not actual fillets, sweet potato chunks and only use one kind of lettuce. She's really picky! And guess what? They delivered and met all her many changes with a smile. I ordered the same salad but without all my friend's requests. I also tried a delicious watermelon lemonade. True Food has never disappointed me. I keep coming back because they have really fresh foods with great taste. My go-to is their Tuscan Kale Salad - I always add that on as a side. This time we got: Chopped Salad: perfect mix of sweet and savory Spaghetti Squash Casserole: hearty and healthy. One of my favorite, my cravable dishes. Thai Coconut Sea Bass (seasonal): this dish was amazing! A little sweet and with deep coconut flavor. Too bad they can't have it all year round. After our appetizer, the waiter came and took our cutlery that was almost completely covered in sauce and put them directly on the table, creating a puddle of sauce on the table. Gross. I'm all for saving cutlery for the next dish, but then just leave them on a little plate. Especially during COVID. So unappetizing and unhygienic. Went to this place for a business lunch when they found out I was vegan! It's so veggie forward and lovely. I got the ancient grains bowl plus tofu and it tastes incredible! We also got the butternut squash pizza and it was the BEST I've ever had. Never thought I'd like squash on pizza that much but I've been won over. Lastly their staff is very aware of diets. I really really liked True Food Kitchen, but the food was just a biiiiit too unique for me to really full-on love it. First off, the decor here is stunning. And our server was so kind and easy-going. I didn't have to google five million ingredients as I read through the options, and a lot of the dishes were recognizable -- just with healthier ingredients. My favorite item? The Kale Aid juice. I'm not one to drink anything green, but our server recommended it, and wow. SO. GOOD. The actual food itself was not as good as I'd hoped; my spaghetti squash was super soggy (although based on photos, it's not always this way?) and the raved-about cauliflower was good, but not really to-die-for level like other reviewers suggested. Second of all, the service wasn't like anything I have ever received before. They went all out and made sure me and my family were satisfied. You can tell that they were genuine about it while serving us. My brother got a dish that he didn't like. Therefore, he got a different dish. At the end, they didn't charge for the dish my brother barely touched, which was great. He ended up getting something that was better and tasty. I was really satisfied with this place. Even though they are mainly known for being a vegetarian/vegan place, there was an option to add meat to your meal. There were several meals to choose from and they were so unique! Quite easily one of my favorite places for fresh and flavorful food! I loved True Food Kitchen in sunny Scottsdale AZ and I was thrilled to see it finally open in downtown Chicago! I've probably been dozens of times, and each time it's a Five-Star experience! The menu has variety, using only seasonally fresh items and the portions are generally generous enough for a take-home snack (unless you have an appetite like mine that doesn't quit! Lol). I particularly love how the waitstaff is well educated about the menu, and can easily modify just about any dish to meet your dietary needs - Ex: Gluten Free, Dairy Free, whole360, add/delete vegetables. As much as I try to find something different on the menu, I have a few favorites I seem to go back to time and time again... and today it was the Padang Curry dish with grass fed steak! On the menu, it might not stand out but I can promise you on a cold 20-degree day like today, it will satisfy your taste buds and warm your belly. Also, don't ever hesitate to try their fresh juices. They are always delicious!! Today I ordered up the Gingeraide which I will admit is pretty potent but I enjoy the healing properties of ginger root and I find it very refreshing. I have been to true food kitchen in Santa Monica, Chicago and Philadelphia. Come here If you want healthy food that actually tastes good!! The place has a healthy California vibe. Unlike many restaurants that focus on healthy eating, True Food is not strictly vegetarian, but rather emphasizes tasty combinations of all healthful foods. We started with the charred cauliflower, which was good--particularly the really well-charred bits--but wasn't really enhanced by the accompaniments, especially the somewhat soggy pistachios. Since we were there for brunch we tried the smashed avocado toast. It was topped by two beautifully cooked sunny side up eggs, and incorporated a razor thin slice of gouda. It was very good, but a rather small serving, so you're going to want a starter or a side. The best thing we had was the ancient grains bowl topped with steelhead. (Steelhead is a type of trout, but is almost indistinguishable from salmon.) All of the ingredients in this bowl--quinoa, miso glazed sweet potato, snow peas, grilled portobello mushrooms and avocado-- were delicious, and worked beautifully together. This place is large and bustling, so make sure to make reservations and don't plan on a quiet conversation. read more
