My husband and I just dined here for the first time. The restaurant has vegan and non-vegan choices, and every dish that we had was amazingly fresh and delicious. We had the Cobb salad, the cauliflower and the Korean steak. All were delicious. The mixed drinks were also fantastic, and our server was wonderful. Healthy food but way overpriced for what you get. Tiny salad - $15.00 for iceburg lettuce and 4 strips of cold chicken. They forgot the salad dressing as well. Very similar to what you would get at Subway or McDonalds. Beatrix Market is much better and is right around the corner. read more

Not sure if we just weren't into the cuisine or if the food was off, but it wasn't as wonderful as we expected. Love this place. However, Service way off tonight. My lettuce wraps done - no server, no "is all good". Ancient Grains comes out - no server, no how is everything. The manager Brian is amazing, in town for work and stopped in twice for dinner. The first time my fish took a while and had to take it to go. The manager for True Food reached out via Yelp promptly, and offered to send me a gift card to try it out again. I'm happy to report that the third time was much better than my last time eating there, prompting the higher rating. We stopped in for an earlier dinner during the week. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very attentive. To me, the difference between the first and third visits (both of which happened during the week) and the second visit (which happened on a weekend night) demonstrated that you should probably try visiting during the week, rather than during the weekend evenings. This time around we had their edamame dumplings to start, which were quite tasty. For entrees, my wife had their Margherita pizza, and I went with their turkey burger. Both dishes were very good, I'd highly recommend them, especially the turkey burger. And, to finish it off, we had their flourless cake for dessert, which was very good as well. Overall, after trying True Food again, I would definitely recommend it. It's good, fresh food, and (mostly) attentive staff! read more

Amazing! We went for lunch on a Saturday. Tried the Bloody Mary and the "hangover cure" drink. Both were very light and fresh. We tried the watermelon and tomato salad as a starter. And also had the ancient grains bowl with shrimp added. It was a bit smaller than expected but Very good. Also had the seasonal ingredients salad - which was also delicious and had fantastic salad dressing on it. We will definitely be back next time we're in Chicago. read more

We love this restaurant in Atlanta. We had lunch yesterday at the one on our street in Chicago. The menu was great as always. We both had the tlc (temps, lettuce, tomato sandwich) and the bread was super burnt on both. I have been here twice, both times ordering the teriyaki quinoa bowl with tofu. I never eat tofu, except from here because it is so delicious! The teriyaki sauce is amazing and it coats the perfectly cooked quinoa and vegetables beautifully. This place puts a lot of thought into their dishes, assuring for a variety of color, texture, and taste. I appreciate the fact they carry health ade kombucha, and enjoy their juices! What this place has going for it in location and atmosphere, it more than lacks in food quality and service. I tried to like it, but just don't understand the hype. My first visit for weekend brunch was alright: my Ancient Grains Bowl was a collection of disparate healthy ingredients loosely tied together by the miso dressing - none of which tasted particularly fresh - and already $15 without proteins added. Today's lunch was the bigger disappointment, starting with the hostess who was MIA during the slow 3pm hour, then seemed reluctant to seat us outside (though tables were already set and diners were already out there). I asked for no cheese in my Grass-fed Burger, to which the waitress appropriately asked whether an allergy or preference. I don't like to burden the kitchen unnecessarily, so explained it's lactose intolerance not true allergy; she gave me a blank stare, unsure which of the two choices to write down. How could anyone in the food industry not understand lactose-intolerance? I asked for my burger medium, but it came thoroughly well-done and very dry, topped with cold caramelized onions and no mushrooms (though was listed on the menu). We had time restraints so I didn't complain. When my friend pointed it out later, she apologized and said "you know, sometimes these minor details get missed in the kitchen." Um, the patty is probably a major, not minor, detail of the burger. My friend's Korean Noodles were overly sauced. As an Asian person, I'd recommend not trying any faux-Asian items here. In fact, I don't plan to try this place again at all, though I live two blocks away. read more

Tried to eat here with my 2 kids. we were give a table by the door, I asked to be moved because of the cold. we waited 20 minutes and were not re seated.Finally we left. This restaurant has good food but terrible service. The Server who took our order disappeared and never came to our table for the entire meal. She came to the table next to us numerous times and never once came to our table to check on us. We had to find someone to get our drinks replenished. Someone else served our main course and did not take away dirty plates from our appetizers. We had to find someone to do this and after asking the hostess to help we saw her searching for someone to do this task and eventually someone came by grudgingly not knowing which table to go to. The manager did nothing but serve water once (somewhat late actually) and never checked on our table or any others. He spent most of his time socializing with workers behind the bar. For a manager of a restaurant he seemed completely disinterested in customer service. The hostess who does the seating was very rude. At one point since our server never came back we called to the hostess who was only a few steps away to help us. Her response was to shout in a loud voice "YEAH". We couldn't believe our ears. She didn't come over or ask "Can I help you". It was as if she couldn't be bothered. I have never seen a hostess so disrespectful to customers. In conclusion, if you don't mind poor service, and disrespectful uninterested employees, this is the place for you. It is a good example of how poor management leads to poor performance of employees. read more

My husband and I come here about 4x a month . The food is consistently good. However if you get anything off the menu ~ it can be hit or miss.That is until we were seated in Marcus's section. He knows the menu inside-out. He's super accommodating and no "special request" is a problem for him . He gets the order right every time. The Ancient Grain bowl (off the spring menu) was amazing! Super healthy and packed with flavor. Loved every bite! No extra protein needed for this dish, but you can add it for an additional charge. Most of the food was good, although overpriced. There was a long dark hair baked into the topping of the butternut squash pizza. The cooking staff does not wear any hair covering so no surprise there. What is even more concerning is the dishonesty of the server. Although he brought the itemized bill when I asked for the check, he did not include it when it was time to pay - and when I tend to look at the details. It was a strange feeling, but I let it go assuming it was an honest mistake. I was surprised to see that he charged my card an additional $2 on top of the 20% tip I included. Now I'm wondering what else was on that bill... based on previous reviews, these things happen at this restaurant. I'm a big fan of the bowls. I've tried many of the appetizers as well and have loved them all. My friend took me to this restaurant for my birthday dinner last week and it was wonderful. I'm a vegan and it was great to see that all the menu items were marked as either vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. Each dish also had the calorie count next to it. The food was delicious. It was very fresh and healthy and tasty. And the service was wonderful.
