Place is really nice, it has that modern hotel vibe. The seating is very open and has really cool outdoor seating. Servers were excellent, attentive and courteous. We had Brussel sprouts and flatbread for starters and they both were really good. Had some espresso shots that were also really good, came with a brown sugar cube and a lemon peel that gave espresso a citrus taste, also really good. I stopped by here with my sister and her family while they were visiting from out of town. My sister picked this spot and I was not disappointed. True Food Kitchen is an excellent spot to get a healthy, high quality meal. Everything about my lunch here was top notch. The ambiance was modern, the restaurant was clean, our server was friendly and no complaints about any of the food. The only caveats I'd mention are if you're not familiar with the area, finding parking on a busy day can be a chore. Also, True Kitchens portions aren't very large and the prices are a bit steep but, so long as you are obtaining overall quality in food, ambience and service, the prices are justifiable. On 3/2 my husband and I wanted to lunch at this place. We love dogs, but not inside a restaurant. We know this place to have posted that dogs are ok in the outside patio. When we were sited inside, the service was slow. We moved to the bar area but noticed dogs around the bar. I cannot be near animals due to my allergies. The bar person called a manager over. Jessica Anderson, the manager at the time informed us that "there was nothing she could do about the dogs as long as they are service dogs. This two dogs were miniature poodles and cannot possible qualify as service dogs. When I mentioned your restaurant policy and a general policy that states that you can ask what services a dog provides she was adamant and said there was nothing she could do. Came on a date and really didn't know what to expect. Amazing surprise from the warmest greetings from the manager Alex to the above and beyond professionalism from my waitress Mary. She looks so innocent and impressed me with her knowledge. She had an answer to every single question without hesitation. I felt like she knew what I was about to ask. The location is a bit away from the craziness (big like), valet in the back, open air patio, banquette sitting or bar. So many options! Food was also delicious. The venue is gorgeous and has an array of beautiful spaces for al fresco dining, each sporting its own "vibe." However, the wait time for food has always been 45 mins to an hour for us, and the quality of it subpar. Last night, my Idaho rainbow trout ($27.75) came out looking more like a blackened shoe insole, with about as much edible flesh on it as a sardine. Our margarita pizza ($16.95) had no discernible mozzarella cheese on it and was cold. The server was really nice, so I don't want to say that we had "bad service." After all, this was during peak dinner time on a Saturday. But most of the women I talked to in the bathroom were complaining about the long wait for their party's food, and the poor quality of it for the high price tag. The bathrooms were also an issue for me ... I went in several times over the course of our meal to accompany small children in our party, and each time the women's room was out of soap and messy. Their outdoor seating is on par and I love the healthy food options they provide! I usually get the teriyaki quinoa bowl. I have tried it with both chicken and steak, and I enjoyed it with chicken much more! It was tasty and it fills you up fast without feeling heavy. I love love love their herb hummus dip as an appetizer and I like how think their pita bread is that comes along with it. I also tried their spinach and mushroom pizza. I am amazed with how they made their almond ricotta topping since that was my favorite part of the pizza and you couldn't tell that it was vegan! The problem was parking. Where do you go? Well, this night, we went with friends who said, "Park on the bridge!" Easy and so close. We were greeted quickly and taken to a lovely round table where we could all hear each other and see what we were all having. The food was terrific. True food kitchen is a wonderful restaurant, always packed, loyal clientele for the responsibly sourced food offered here. Service is always prompt and helpful. The food? After 5 visits I won't be coming back until they get it together. While ingredients are responsibly sourced, the final product beautifully plated, the flavors are lacking and I can taste added sugar in almost everything I've had here. Some of the vegetable plates are excellent still the added sugar is noticeable. True food is a good restaurant that serves good food, not good enough though for a sixth visit. All of them were easy to share and pass around. I ordered the salmon and substituted the quinoa with cauliflower rice for less calories. I loved being able to do that here! All of my other team members loved what they got as well. The portions are excellent, too! You feel just right after eating the food. For no contact, they have a QR code to scan on your phone for the menu. You can also order through here or through a server. The servers did come around quite often and were super friendly, even offering water for the pup we had with us. I ordered the Grass-Fed Burger ($17) with half sweet potatoes and half kale salad. I loved that they gave the option to split both sides instead of choosing only one. The burger itself was pretty solid. I like the onions and mushrooms, but also felt it was slightly bland and too simple. The kale salad was a bit too citrusy but great sweet potatoes. If you're looking for a health meal, this is a great spot. With healthier options mean it's also a bit pricier. Though I enjoyed it, it wasn't a favorite for me. Also great outdoors area, especially during COVID-19. There was also a mistake on my bill that I realized after I got home, which the manager fixed after I called in a few times. They have QR codes on the tables and you can order and pay right from your phones which I found pretty nifty. I ordered the teriyaki quinoa bowl plus chicken and my boyfriend ordered the ancient grains bowl plus chicken. We were both very satisfied with our orders. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy still. The veggies were roasted beautifully. And generous servings of everything to keep you full. My boyfriend was raving about the chimichurri type sauce that came with his bowl. It was crazy delicious. To share, we also ordered the spaghetti squash casserole. It was good around where the cheese was but majority of the dish just kind of steamed the squash and made the dish watery. Wouldn't get it again. I also ordered the sparkling prickly pear tisane. It was really refreshing, and surprisingly not too sweet at all. Wonderful in between between juice and iced tea. Honestly the food here is absolutely delicious for being "healthier" options. I had a lovely post-wedding brunch with True Food in their large private "Colorado" room. It was tough to find a cute place that could do a tasty buffet brunch for 65 people but this was perfect! I worked with Laura, who helped me with the menu and it was all pretty easy to set up. They either need more staff or better organization. I have frequently and consistently dined at the Pasadena location, and things have changed. The restaurant was at about 30% capacity, very low for a Saturday night. Two hour turnaround for dinner for four. They claim under staffed and it showed. I only noted two servers for the whole restaurant, and the kitchen staff looked to be at about 20% Food was completely not as expected or previously served, and cold. I had the same meal at the El Segundo location a week ago, perfect. This was awful. So sat to see this restaurant falling apart. Most, if not all of the other patrons seem to be having the same experience. Staff apologizing and frustrated as well. The staff seemed to be struggling and were doing their best.
