We tried the GF cchicken sausage pizza with smoked gouda cheese and a double cheeseburger (plant-based). We were seated; there was a QR code posted on each table so you can order online... only problem was there was no way to modify your order like to say "no cheese" so i had to order mine regular, hoping that someone will check our order. PINK TURKEY @ TRUE FOOD KITCHEN This past Sunday I had the pleasure of ordering a Turkey Burger from one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena via Uber Eats. The food at this establishment is usually very good but this order was just awful. My order consisted of Kale, roasted potatoes and a Turkey Burger with Gouda and everything tasted delicious. As I took several bites of my burger I did not notice or taste any issues. I did notice my dog giving me a weird stare perhaps he noticed a problem with my burger. As I continued to eat my burger, I was halfway through some of my big chomps when I noticed a pink color in the meat. At first I thought it was the light but then I opened up the burger to investigate. The meat was bright pink!!!! I broke open the burger meat and to my surprise the burger was barely cooked. IT WAS RAW GROUND TURKEY!! I was in disbelief that True Food Kitchen had served me raw poultry. I had eaten enough raw Turkey meat to give me Salmonella and put me in the hospital. In fact at 4:00am the effects of my digestion of raw poultry meat started working it's magic. My guts have been shooting brown lava since Monday morning. As of this writing, my stomach is settling but I am still not at 100%. I guess this was True Food Kitchens way of helping me lose a few pounds before Turkey Day. From this point forth, I will be breaking open any meat purchases from True Food and investigating my orders before consuming... that is if I order again. Since they were not broadcasting, they weren't many people at this place and we were seated right away (walk-in). There is a lot next door w free 90 min parking and the beach is a stone throw away so the location is great. Service was also great. Fast and friendly. Rating is strictly for the food. Ordered two items from the Valentine's feature menu - war of roses and fig gorgonzola flatbread. The bread was disappointing, it was almost barren and used dried figs. Didn't feel with the $$. Beverage was better, the rose flavor kicked it up a notch. We've tried to visit the Newport location, but they have a huge reservation and wait-list line generally. Even with the wait-list, once you get there and notify the staff, there is additional wait until they seat you. So we just left after 45 mins. Food: I ordered the grilled chicken avocado wrap. The chicken is moist and the hummus and vinaigrette made the wrap not as dry as it seems. The ingredients tasted fresh and a nice light meal. My fiancé ordered the grass fed burger and I luckily was able to sneak in a bite. The juices were pouring out and the patty was super flavorful. I definitely recommend. This is like my third or fourth time coming to the True food kitchen. My sister and her husband are well known at this establishment and while I was in town today, I met my sister here for lunch. Number one the food here is just remarkable. I like the fact that it's very clean eating, the food is prepared in a way that makes you walk away Feeling good about yourself and not like you've eaten something that you know you shouldn't have. My sister and I shared the cauliflower. The edamame ravioli I think it was, their chicken platter, a mixed green salad, which I can't remember the name of, but it was really good! Lol. Wide variety of options here. On top of the vegan food they have there's also non vegan food. I tried the pesto salad (vegan), which tasted pretty similar like the regular one but still it was creamy and full of flavor. I couldnt tell the difference. It was good and definitely tasted healthier. The chicken sausage pizza was okay. Pizza is super thin and they barely put any cheese on it. Probably wouldnt get it again. I really want to love True Food Kitchen in Pasadena but something here just doesn't work. I hesitated to post this second review but after trying to give the place a chance after multiple spread out visits I've just decided that the amount of waiting at this place to value is not okay. If you have a 90 minute lunch break, if you aren't hungry yet and are okay waiting 30+ minutes for food, if you are catching up with a talkative friend you haven't seen for years, doing a long business lunch where you need a lot of time to make your sales pitch, or if sustainable food is paramount-- this place could work for you. Between the snooty hostesses that seat reservations out of order (I came 5 minutes before my rez at 5:45 and was asked to wait. Hostess told me that she was going to seat two other 6 pm reservations before me in a condescending way and then did not apologize at all for skipping us) to the food taking 30 minutes to arrive with no menu modifications... it's just not for me or mostly anyone I know or care about. The waiters here really are gold and try their best to make things right with all the wait times, and the food is good... but it's not enough to make the experience worth coming back. As a note-- the folks I dine with and other local friends agree that this unfavorable experience is consistent and unique at the Pasadena location and not at other TF locations. read more

Delicious, fresh and organic food with a huge list of seasonal items to try! I've never had a dish I didn't love but my favorites are the Forbidden Poke bowl and the Pan Seared Sea Bass - AMAZING! My husband is obssessed with their Kale Salad and the Grass Fed Burger. This is one of our most frequented double date spots with my parents. My dad loved the fact that they had a plethora of Vegetarian options and my mom loves their pizza's. Aside from my favorite dishes, you MUST try the vanilla latte. I've had the burger several times now, and it is just OK- the bun and sauce just doesn't do it for me, please add some other flavors like onions. I also don't understand why the portion sizes are so small? The pizza I had as well, but it just didn't fill me up either. I had to order two entrées in front of my employer lol. I feel like I'd expect this kind of service at Ruth's Chris or Morton's but these guys give them a run for their money.
