Stopped here a couple of years ago shortly after it opened, and it was fantastic. Fast forward to now and the picture has changed. Incredibly slow service. Disappointingly limited menu which consists mainly of burgers. Passable but not great beer. Food was totally overcooked and one of the items wasn't at all like its description on the menu (the excuse was that they had changed that item and the new menus are coming tomorrow.) I could go on, but you get the picture. To their credit, they did try to make it right. We might give it another chance, but it's not the place I remember. read more

The food and drinks deserve four stars but the service is only a two. This is not based on one visit but the last few. Last visit was on Saturday. Got there around 1pm for lunch. After we'd already been there long enough with no one coming over to take our order to start looking at the time, it was another 15 minutes before a waitress came over. I just don't get it. The atmosphere is great and the beer is excellent. The true west ruckus ipa is really good. Im an ipa guy... think Lawsons, alchemist, hill farmstead, fiddlehead....this true west ruckus can hang.. I was impressed. The 2 girls that were clearing the tables and bringing out the food were friendly and more than helpful. They were very prompt in helping. The true west burger was very good and the bacon on it was amazing. The hostesses were friendly and prompt. They also have this really cool app that texts you and keeps you posted on status while you wait for your table. All in all beer and food were great and Im confident that True West will go far. Good beer, but the food is inconsistent and mediocre to say the least. And far too costly for what it is. Chef sent out fries that were sitting too long and burnt burgers that were supposed to be medium. Apps were okay. I'd hit it up again for a beer before hitting up a real restaurant. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! It's such a cute brewery in a small town with delicious . It's perfect for a date night or just grabbing an appetizer with friends. Their flight of beer is very inexpensive for six beer samples. It's definitely a spot I'll be going back to time and time again! I definitely recommend checking it out if and when you are in the area, it won't disappoint and neither will it's food! Disappointed in our last few trips here. The service was awful, we went on a Monday night and waited half an hour for our server to come back and take our food order. Went with a large group (12) and they were very accommodating! Only two house made beers but the Brown Ale was excellent, I really enjoyed it. Not much on the menu for vegetarians (I had the potato dumpling app which was a touch salty for me but very flavorful). My friends liked their food which looked like pretty standard pub grub. The restaurant was loud and clattery but lots of families with children (I was there early) and people were having a good time. I'm looking forward to enjoying more beer and I hope some additional vegetarian options. read more

So....we came here on a Sat night around 6:30. The place was packed. We were told it would be a 45 min wait for a table. So we put our name in and tried to get a drink at the very full bar. After about 15 min we finally got a beer. Around 7pm we got a seat at the bar and asked if we could eat here too. They said yes, so we took our name off the list for a table. It took another 15 min or so to waive a bartender down to order another round and some food. We had our eyes on some apps and meals. The bartender said he could get us a round but could not put food in for another 20 min. This was ridiculous. We've already had a beer, waited nearly an hour, about to get another beer....and no food orders for 20 min?!! That means we won't eat for another 45 or more. I questioned this and the bartender came back and said we could order. We skipped the apps (disappointment) and just ordered burgers. He came back again to tell me the one I ordered was 86'd. Uggh. So I ordered something i didn't really want just to get it in, in hopes to get food in my belly soon. The beer so far is "ok". It's drinkable but nothing to write home about. I had the Czech Pils (meh) and the Isaac (better). This is my first time here and my husbands second. I usually give a place 2-3 trys to see if it was just a bad night. We will see. lovely new place and everything is and looks new, nice bar with a couple of tvs, we had the braided pretzel app, very good and the spicy, burger , very good and the romain caesar with haddock, also very good, service nice, water filled, interesting beer selection , largely of their own although they were out of some......you can get lift time mug for 1000$!!!!!!!..... nice place, liked it!!!! so it ask next good for kids so yes, they had an interesting kids menu! read more

This place falls JUST shy of 5 stars. The food is good...very good, maybe...but it's not fantastic. The service is good, but certainly not perfect. Flatbreads and burgers were good (especially the mushroom and bacon flatbread) and salads were solid. Two small, annoying issues with our food: (1) The grilled chicken on the salad was horrendous...dry and hard...extremely overcooked...tasted like it was cooked, then reheated, then reheated three more times. (2) The chili is described as having cheddar cheese on top. When the chili came out without the cheese and we asked for cheese, no apology was given...and by the time that the cheese came out of the kitchen, the chili was cold and had almost been entirely eaten. We will go back and we are very happy that this place exists...but it needs to improve in a few areas. read more

True West is a local gem. They connect with the community, brew very tasty beer and their kitchen does a great job. The fish and chips are delicious. I am also a big fan of the True West burger. Keep up the great work and see you soon! read more

This place is so great. Awesome food - cheese flat bread with pepperoni, cheeseburger and fries pickles. YES. The beer flights are very generous (6 beers!!). Waitress was great and the outdoor seating on a warm summer night made it that much better. Cornhole for those wanting to play and a big TV for those who want to watch the game. Delicious food - everything is made from scratch, including the bread and rolls. We tasted a bit of everything and enjoyed it all. The chef came out to greet us and explain the choices, Really unique flavors, beautifully presented. Service was excellent. I'm not a beer drinker, although the selection was large, I was glad to know they also had a full bar so I could enjoy a martini. Try it! You'll love it! read more

I'm giving them a 5 because I knew about the noise level going in. This place is beyond loud, scream at your partner loud! This needs to be fixed or they will go out of business. My wife got the green chili pork tacos and I got the turkey BLT. Both were tasty and my fries were excellent. We started off with the potato dumpling which was also very good. I had 2 True West ales which are excellent. Wait staff made a few mistakes, but no big deal, they are new and human. Everyone makes mistakes, including people who review :-) I would suggest giving them a try. If you don't like noise, give them a few months, the waitress told me the panels have been ordered and should be installed shortly. We will come again and I will update my review in the future. Quick update, I wrote the review while in the restaurant tonight. Then Peter, which is one of the owners came over and talked with my wife and I. He gave us a tour of the brewery. He's a really nice guy and took his time giving us the tour. We also met Rebecca which was also extremely nice. He also told me the acoustic panels are in and being installed tomorrow. read more

I typically don't give reviews but felt the need to share. I truly don't know why this place only has 3 stars. This place is awesome! The beer is great the food menu is so good that it truly took me 20 minutes to decide what to eat. (I was enjoying the porter while making this decision). Our waitress (grace) was very attentive and so friendly. I ended up getting the burger and was starving and was still only able to eat 1/2. The fries are fresh cut and delicious. I have already texted my family who live in the area and told them that this place is now a go-to whenever I'm in town! On top of everything, my mother is a celiac and this place has gluten free offerings and will prepare and cook things separately as needed/requested. read more

A solid 3 star restaurant. We frequented this place when it first opened & loved it until one night my wife had such a bad experience, she refused to go back for years.. ouch. We went back tonight with the family & things have changed. The service was great as was the beer! The food, however, was average & that's okay. Great potential but..... Absollutly horrible acoustics. Impossible to carry on a dinner conversation without shouting. Everyone was competing to be heard. It was so nice to finally leave. Small portions for a dinner. Got home and needed a snack. Asked for a side salad which appears to mean a tiny bowl of greens. Nothing else. No dressing offered or provided. Staff was very disorganized. My dinner partner had 1 sip left in his first beer when I finally got my first. The table next to us waited in frustration for 20 mins before anyone even came by. When we did speak to our waitress she was super rushed and clearly distracted. Maybe caught them on an off night. I hope so. Not many good places to eat around here... read more

We haven't been to True West since before the pandemic began and I don't think will be returning. It was our first venture out since we have been concerned about COVID but gave it a shot. First, as we were sat we were brought to a table that had not been cleaned. We had to wait for her to clean it off, and she didn't clean the chairs properly either. Our server was fine. She didn't appear to know much about the drink menu when we asked about cocktails. I ordered the risotto and my son ordered the house burger with nothing but cheese. My risotto was correct, but my son's burger was terrible. He ordered a medium well burger and it came out very red, closer to medium rare, and the side was incorrect. Many COVID heath protocols weren't followed. Most patrons were not wearing masks despite the Governor's orders, and multiple people walked toward the restrooms without wearing masks at all. My son saw staff members eating together near the restrooms and said they didn't cover their faces as he walked by. We called ahead to ask about COVID protocols, and was told that these things would be followed. Staff don't wear gloves, and they did not wash their hands very frequently. Hand sanitizer was sparse at best. We left before finishing our food. We didn't ask for boxes either as the food wasn't good enough to take home with us. My husband, now passed, was a regular at True West years ago. We gave it a chance to return close to his birthday. It was a very unsanitary place and the floor had drip and beer marks covering it, and during this time I would have expected something much different. read more

Trendy little brewery/restaurant in Acton. Reminds me of John Harvards but cozier and smaller. We had a flight at the bar and an appetizer and the place was busy! I've been three separate times now. The place is passable at best. Food is OK, not great. They're often out of things -- out of food on the menu or out of beer listed on the beer list. Each time I've been, they're out of something different, and with a pretty small menu that means the picky eaters really struggle. Nice space and seating areas but, boy, the food was bad! We ordered a couple of the pasta dishes and they arrived cooled and lumped and stuck together and tasted very bland. Garden salad was dull and reminded me if an airport salad. I'm not familiar with the area so don't know how it compares to other local options but it was pretty lousy. read more

I have been here now a handful of times since its opening. I have been very pleased with the lovely, local artisan food (salad, which is hard to do well) wine selection and prompt, friendly, knowledgeable service. The atmosphere is surprisingly comfortable considering a loft/modern decor and it's often very busy on weekends. It can look deceptively small at first until you keep walking back. The dining area is very good sized. The bar is huge and there's always a place to 'squeeze' in at either table, seat or even to stand in groups. Outdoor seating in summer will be a great addition next year! Acton sooo needed a place like this. Cheers for True West! read more

This is a negative review. We went to True West to celebrate a small birthday party. We had a cake with us. In order to have any of the cake, the manager said that True West would charge us $8 per slice. I understand the policy but was put off by the scolding manner in which the message was delivered. The manager wished us a happy birthday but was more intent on delivering his message. He lacked any sort of finesse. It ended up being a buzz kill for the whole party. This is a welcome addition to the dining options in Acton. The menu is small but everything we have tried here is excellent. They have their own line of beers that satisfy most tastes. Some nights are busier than others. Anticipate a wait on Fridays & Saturdays but you can grab a cold one while waiting for a seat. read more

The food/appetizers you get here are super tiny and expensive. This is not a fancy place either it's a "brewery". I'd rather go somewhere else. I had appetizers and pizza split with 2 other girls. We came after lunch and we didn't order an exorbitant amount food and I didn't drink alcohol either. After we split the food cost I paid close $40. I definitely could have gotten better food for that amount money somewhere else. read more

If you're going to charge 15 dollars for some pasta, you expect it to be a large portion,with maybe some chicken and lots of mozzarella... but i got home and opened my take out back to find a tiny portion in this huge container... with 3 tiny slices of mozzarella... definitely not worth the money. Came in, first time back in a while. Wow! This place is awesome, they changed the menu so it is rounded out better, the fried pickles are a great app, the beet salad my gf got was really good with the candied walnuts, I had the fried chicken and waffles that were on point. Service staff was great very attentive and always there with what we needed without asking. Now I will just say the beers are to die for!!! So cool that they do different styles that you usually don't see other places. Definitely will be coming back again for some of the best beer in central Mass and amazing food. Restaurant is very nice inside, beautiful location in acton with outdoor seating. Went with my boyfriend and his sister. We were seated next to a very large party that was very loud and we could barely hear each other. Waitress was fine but took quiet a long time to get us our drinks and our food took a very long time to get to us. Food was very good. This was my second time coming here and the first experience was the same for the wait for service. My boyfriend ordered a drink at the end of the meal and we waited for 15 minutes and she came over and asked if we still wanted it.... very odd, took another 10 minutes to get the drink. If you don't mind the wait I would suggest going because the food is good but I think that will be my last trip to true west read more

Not a good experience. They were out of ingredients for a drink, appetizer and entree that we originally ordered. Then the replacements were a bit spicy for my taste (not listed as such on the menu), then to cap it all off the waitress gave us a check with items double-charged. Luckily I caught it, and when I brought it to her attention her response was "yeah, I know. I didn't get around to correcting it." Needless to say, her tip was sub-par, and i won't be going back to try the items they were out this time around! read more
