I found this place via google maps by searching "brunch". When I saw this place from the outside, I already felt that this would be a lovely place with authentic food. I had the Western Burrito, which was just the best. Perfect for Lunch/Brunch, but also as a snack. Just amaaaazing. My friend got the Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich, that was nothing special but still very tasty. If You come here You definately get sth with the Guacamole, cause you won't find one as such in any place. The server was chill, not too friendly but also not annoying. It's a casual place so that's okey. I just like server that are authentic and he was it so thats great. I am definitely coming back to explore the menu more! read more

I may be biased as I used to live in the same building as the one of the owners, (and would always enjoy a quick friendly chat. But I think this can only bolster my argument that this place is a lovely spot in the neighborhood, run by someone IN the neighborhood. My partner and I would go here every time we wanted a relaxing, delicious, and easy meal. The place is TINY, almost what you'd consider a hole in the wall sort of joint, but with more character and warmth. Their sandwiches are probably the best part of the menu, and I found their burgers to be particularly juicy. When I left the neighborhood, this was one of the spots I was very sad to leave. Heard about this place so decided to give it a try. First and foremost its very small but surprisingly we didn't wait on a friday night. Very cute inside, nice art, friendly staff. Had a bit of a hard time understanding my waiter and I believe he didn't understand me as well because I ordered my burger Medium Well and I got a rather Medium Rare to Rare burger. However he was nice about it and sent it back to be redone. So on to the other positives. The food was great. My gf got the special which was an amazing Pumpkin Ravioli with mushrooms. Absolutely delicious. I got the Hamilton Burger (goat cheese and bacon) and once cooked to my liking was also amazing. We also had the pear salad, which was very well done. It's a great place for a date. Small, intimate, and amazing food. One of those places your date will be impressed that you selected. So glad I was in the area and was able to try this place. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. Great people working here. Came on a Saturday for brunch. The food here is AMAZING! I had one of the specials forgot what it was called but it was basically a fat crispy buttery grilled ham and cheese sandwich with two Sunnyside up eggs on top. SO GOOD! Swiss cheese delicious ham and eggs with a crispy crust on the bread. The only downside is that this restaurant is comically small. So don't plan on a private meal because you're going to be eating with everyone in the restaurant. There's only like 6 tables here. If someone has to use the bathroom half of the restaurant has to get up hahah. I thought it was hilarious. That being said the staff here is very accommodating to this fact and knows how to handle the space well. Overall it's a great place and a must try in my book! read more

I know I'm late, but Trufa, welcome to the neighborhood :) I was a little hesitant to come here for lunch because I know that it's a small space, which gave me the image of tanto dulce--cozy, quietly busy, with almost no shot of getting a seat. That said, I was very surprised when they allowed me to sit at a 4 person table for a party of two.... while I waited for a friend who was running late. I expected there to be a rush of people, and for me to be asked to moved to a smaller table, but that didn't happen. The young lady behind the counter served up some bread and humus, while I waited. It isn't listed on the menu, but I would recommend the soup and half sandwich lunch special. Got the bowl of vegetable soup and half of an italiano sandwich--both delicious, and for only 8 bucks. It's definitely a nice change from my usual panini+salad combo from Cafe One at the same price point. Yes, you can definitely find cheaper lunches, but I'd recommend paying a little bit more for a relaxed, no rush, friendly service. it's a nice (and most definitely welcomed) change from eating halal cart lunch at the ccny quad or fighting the crowd at subsconcious. read more

From the moment this place opened up, the people inside have been so nice and accommodating. Although there have been some new faces over the years, so far the customer service has not suffered. The food in here is great!! My favs are the spinach ravioli (with chicken and shrimp), honestly any special with ravioli- it's usually good!, penne a la vodka, the brunch is pretty good although it has been a couple years since I've eaten it but I remember the French toast was great!; and the sandwiches are good. Their crab cakes are also good although they were small. The salad it comes with is delish too!! One thing I can say is they have great desserts! I personally love the carrot cake as my favorite. I've heard (and/or tasted) that the red velvet and cheesecakes are as well. Please note: This place is very small inside so large parties won't fit well here but they do deliver in the area and it is comfortable and clean inside. I was running on empty and needed something to eat. So as I got off at 137th Street stop I walked around the neighborhood. One thing I have learned over time is not to act off of impulse cause this saves a lot of grief and heartburn...ugggh. So I spied this location and it had a favorable rating. When I saw beet salad with grilled chicken my thoughts were like yea thats the ticket. The salad was very well prepared with plenty of greens, a nice grilled skinless chicken cutlet laying on top. The balsamic dressing added a nice even flavoring, there was even a boiled egg sliced and covering the rim of the plate. I thought the egg wouldnt go well with the salad before I placed my order. But this false premonition was laid to rest when my mouth tasted the well balanced freshly made salad.There werent many beets as I had a imagined. Just a few slices, this would have made the salad superb in my opinion if more were added. I think beets are under-rated. There were bits of bacon scattered about not much that added a little salty flavor. Over all a worthy destination if you ever uptown and dont wanna settle on fast food cause there is a lot of that all around. Service was friendly and prompt which is always a good thing. read more

The burgers here are fantastic. Come here for the burgers. Get a burger. Trust. A few other menu items are also yum. Trufa has a great lentil soup and tasty dessert. But for the most part you shouldn't be there unless you're getting a burger. Seriously. Get a burger. Also, custom ordering any dish with delivery (no cheese, extra cheese, no sauce, extra sauce, etc.) is always a gamble. You'll never know what you'll get once it arrives at your place. This quaint Italian bistro is one of my favorites restaurants in town. The owner is sweet and always accommodating even though I always come in for a table for one! I feel at home dining here and so far, all of the food I've ordered is sooo tasty and fresh. Crab cakes= delicious. I also enjoy their sangrias. Normally I would give this place 4 stars as it is fantastic, but 5 stars needs an extra special WOW factor. This place's WOW factor is its location as there are not a lot of even decent options in this area (how I miss Vinegar Hill and Cafe Largo...). Food is really great, tasty, delicious and very fresh! The fries are REALLY good! Something special is going on there... A few great menu items that continue to get me to visit once to twice a week. Let's start with the Beef Trufa Carpaccio which is incredible, then I usually get Lobster Ravioli which is always delicious, and finally the Tiramisu will knock you out of your chair. We visited Trufa when making a visit to a nearby store. We were looking for a good lunch place and Trufa came up on Yelp. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly host that also doubles as a waiter and runs the kitchen. I guess he's the owner. Each of us ordered a completely different entrée, so we got to experience a few specialties and they all tasted excellent. First, a meat stew with gnocchi. The stew was flavorful and gnocchi was excellent and not over or undercooked. Next, we had the eggs benedict with the salmon. The eggs were just right and the hollandaise was delish. It really worked well together and was one of the best executed eggs benedict I tasted for a while. Lastly, was my dish. I had the California Burger. When I first got it looked great, but as I was eating it I found that despite ordering it Medium, it arrived well done and dry as a dessert. When the waiter came by to check on our progress I told him the Hamburger was well done. He offered to replace it if I had time, which I did. I returned it and after a few minutes got another full new portion. This time around the burger was excellent. Medium and juicy while having a smoky bbq flavor. Finally, the check arrived and the damage was OK - although a little on the higher side (New York, New York). Average entrée about $15 plus tax. All in all an excellent food that seems to have the basics right on the food side and the service side. Loved it. read more

Great place, very charming. Used to live in the neighborhood, when it first opened. I've had a variety of dishes from the menu. The owner is great- he really cares about his customers and his food. Oh how pleased I was to find this hidden gem on Broadway!! Trufa is a cute, little establishment on Broadway. The hostess/waitress is a super sweet lady. It didn't seem too busy on my visits, and I went on 2 separate occasions for brunch and dinner. Both meals were absolutely delicious. I ordered the banana pancakes for brunch and a chicken salad for dinner. The one thing I wasn't a fan of, was the bread they brought out. I think the sauce they brought with the bread is what killed it. Other than that I was very pleased with my meals. Oh! Their sangria was great!
