I was looking for something different for lunch on my last day in Harlem and stumbled upon Fieldtrip! The reviews were convincing, so I decided to give it a try. This place was literally a two-minute walk from my aunt's house. The inside was nice and spacious with plenty of seating. I decided to take my order to go. I got the oxtail egg roll and the mambo-glazed roast chicken bowl. The egg roll was not as good as I anticipated. It was missing something, and I can't quite identify what that something was. The bowl did not disappoint, I really enjoyed it! Those crispy Brussels sprouts were the highlight of the bowl! I'll most definitely go back and highly recommend it.

I was here early on during the Field Trip wave and was happy to be part of it. Now I'm back with an updated review, though my visits have become less frequent than in previous years. In short, it seems that recipes, portions, and menu options shift over time in ways that leave customers holding on to the memory of those first great experiences--only to find it has slipped away. For the last five or so visits, the fish (which is the only thing I eat here) has consistently been extremely salty. The last time, I had to throw it away. The balance of rice and vegetables used to be even, but now it's more like 80/20--mostly vegetables. The greens aren't chopped well and are undercooked, making them harder to digest. This isn't a critique of the customer service or the staff, who remain kind and helpful. It's more of a reminder that things change--and not always for the better.

The food came in a nice shopping bag

I had to come back here to eat my favorite rice bowl. This time I decided to dine in with my service pup and I'm so happy I did. The place is so clean and comfortable. The staff is quick and helpful always. I love that no matter how much time passes the food always keeps the taste I love! Next time I go I'll try to order something new just to explore but so far I'm addicted to my choice! HIGHLY recommend coming to this place.

I've been wanting to try Fieldtrip for a while now and it did not disappoint. It is black owned, and operated. My salmon was cooked well and all the vegetables in my bowl were delicious. My son ordered chicken and it was good. Service was great and there were seats inside if you wanted to eat in, but we took ours to go. I look forward to returning, and I would definitely recommend this place. I also would recommend going in and placing your order, Or you can eat there. I tried to call and order in, but that didn't quite work out. Inside seating is fine.

JJ is known for his rice but his beef dishes are my favorite. I seriously schedule a visit to Fieldtrip in my NYC itineraries - it is that serious! Fieldtrip was my excuse to visit Harlem. His restaurant is steps away from 116th subway station on the 2/3 line which was an easy trip from Harold Square. The braised beef bowl is like nothing I have ever tasted. The beef falls apart and the bowl is full of veggies, rice, and beans. Healthy and yummy - can't beat it! It is more than enough food for a very hungry adult, but I always add a side of fried chicken. Again - so much food. My only critique is that they did not have crab pockets. The customer service is great and I received a $5 birthday discount because I signed up for the loyalty program back in December. Can't wait for my next trip to NYC for this amazing food!

So much variety of healthy, clean food by Chef JJ and staff. Friendly service with a smile and seating inside all locations. Of course you know there's a location in my area in Harlem. I can walk there. Food is amazing. The braised beef, crispy fish and fried chicken rice bowls blow my mind every time I get it. My family and I are addicted. The wok veggies, Carolina gold fried rice and lime rice tastes so fresh and good. The sauces he use are also another winner. And don't forget Nana's bread. Our go to.

The pasta dishes are the highlight: perfectly cooked, rich sauces, and generous portions that taste homemade and comforting. We tried one of the classic red-sauce pastas topped with fresh herbs, and it was absolutely packed with flavor -- simple ingredients done really well. The dining room has that intimate, relaxed vibe that's perfect for a casual date night or easy dinner with friends. If you're looking for authentic, satisfying Italian with a cozy neighborhood feel, Pisticci is a fantastic choice. Definitely worth returning to try more of the menu -- especially brunch next time.

For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse, which was very enjoyable, rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. Pisticci has a fairly extensive menu, and in addition to the regular offerings, there often seem to be daily specials. There is something for those looking for classic Italian-American dishes as well as diners interested in more adventurous Italian options. The restaurant itself is charming, with warm decor and a comfortable atmosphere. The staff was friendly, attentive, and the food arrived promptly. Overall, I would recommend Pisticci to anyone looking for Italian in the neighborhood that offers quality food at reasonable prices.

My bartender Lewis/Luis was incredibly attentive, frequently checking in to see how everything was going. He also recommended the Avocado Sushi with truffle miso to go alongside the Bang Bang Broccoli I had already ordered, and it was a great call. The Bang Bang Broccoli is good the tempura is well done and the sauce is delicious but after a couple of bites, the sauce starts to overpower the broccoli and becomes a little too saucy and salty. I found myself reaching for water more than I expected. The Avocado Sushi had a really beautiful smoky, rich flavor, though I do wish they'd pack a little less rice. With so much rice in each piece, it's hard to get a balanced bite cutting it down by half would make it perfect. The Matchatini was a standout. Creamy on top, with just the right amount of alcohol not overpowering at all, just enough to complement the matcha. As tempting as it was to order another one, I wanted to savor the moment, and I'm glad I did. For dessert, I had my eye on the Matcha Sandwich Cookies with ice cream, but they were sold out. Fellow reviewers saved the day though, pointing me to the Matcha Cheesecake and they were 110% correct. That cheesecake did not disappoint. Though it didn't seem to be a lot of food but I couldn't even finish it on my own so I got it to go.

That said, I actually appreciated the photos of each menu item--it made ordering easier and faster. Now, the food. Hands down, this was the best Mediterranean food I've had in the U.S. We ordered the chicken shawarma tacos and a side of falafel. The falafel was soft on the inside (not dry at all) and crispy on the outside, sitting in a bed of the smoothest tahini cream I've ever tasted--and I don't even like tahini. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, and every bite actually had chicken. No skimping on the protein here. The pita pocket was small but soft and fresh, not dry. Best part: the chicken taco came with small sides of hummus, baba ganoush, creamed tahini, and finely chopped tomatoes and cucumbers. Boom. Every single element was delicious. One downside: there's only one restroom, it's small, and while it's tastefully decorated, it could have used a bit more attention. Would I go back? 100% yes. I honestly wish I could teleport this place back home with me so I could become a regular.

My favorite dishes were all at the beginning where I really liked the Five flavor Plate (my favorite taste was the bittermelon one). The cauliflower mushroom dish was also really unique but my favorite dish of the night was Buddha jumps over the wall. The dry ice presentation was stunning. There were eight types of braised mushrooms, and texturally, the dish was just so interesting and umami. This was the pinnacle and highlight for me. It kind of tasted like a Chinese cream of mushroom soup haha. If you like mushrooms and soy, you would really like this tasting menu. There were times I felt some dishes were a little bit too salty (roasted matsutake), but as far as tasting menus go, it wasn't bad overall. While the presentation of the dessert was nice, it was really impractical to eat and a little bit difficult. I also wish there was more of dessert that's a bit more than two bites haha.
