Totally worth the wait!! This wasn't just pizza, this was the kind of meal that makes you immediately start planning your next visit before you even leave the table. We started with the Garlic Pull Apart Bread and the Wedge Salad and honestly, both were unreal. The bread disappeared in seconds and the wedge somehow made me question every other salad I've ever ordered. At that point, they already had me sold. Then came the pizzas: "Our Cheese" and the "Smoky Vodka." I genuinely did not think pizza could taste this good. Perfect crust, insane flavor, and the kind of balance where every ingredient actually matters. You can tell this place is obsessive about quality. If you're getting cocktails, order the Limoncello Spritz. Refreshing, bright, and dangerously easy to drink. Then somehow they still finished strong with the Soft Serve Ice Cream. This place is TRULY great. My husband and I came here with our baby to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time! The atmosphere is lovely with twinkling cafe lights, greenery, florals, hanging vines and lemons. It transports you to another place. We started out with some drinks and shared the best wedge salad I've ever had. The flavors were perfect together. Then we had both the sweet and spicy and potato bianca pizzas. The sweet and spicy was hands down my fave but both were delicious. And we finished everything with a soft serve ice cream topped with olive oil, salt, and lemon I believe. It was fun and so so good. I've been wanting to try Truly Pizza for a while now. They have newly opened a second location in Laguna Beach across the street from Las Brisas restaurant which I have visited so I know the area. Truly Pizza does walk-ins, but I booked a reservation as I heard this location is just as busy as their Dana Point location. I was glad I did as the walk-in wait time would have been 90mins. We were seated outside which was wonderful especially in Southern California with such great weather. The atmosphere was stunning. After being seated our order was taken right away. The staff was helpful with their recommendations. They have both round and square pizza options. We went with the spagnola salad, la foresta pizza (round), and smoky vodka pizza (square) with pepperoni. They only do whole pizzas, no single slices. We were glad the pizza was amazing and was happy to bring home the left overs. We were told we had to get their soft serve ice cream. It was a nice treat to cool us off. The beach is literally the next street over, so we took a stroll on the beach and walked off all the food we ate. I would recommend this place for a nice day date or even a date night. read more

We took part in the preliminary opening, and so far they are taking off and running smoothly. The staff is really helpful and attentive. There is someone nearby often to address any concerns. Will all this staff be present after they open? The seating is in a large garden like patio area, a great relaxing setting, and the tables are well spaced. I know there is always someone that's too loud but today that person I was able to tune out. We started with a great salad featuring a thinly sliced prosciutto. It was great. I detected a slight glitch in the process when our pizza still hadn't arrived after 30 minutes. I'm guessing this will be remedied when they are officially open. Our second pizza arrived shortly after the first. We tried one square (Thick)(Suprema) and one round (Thin)(Dante). Both were delicious. I noticed our neighboring table had a pizza with impressive and ornate toppings, I want that next time. Our Dante was minimal with delicious but sparse sausage and a great sauce. Cooked to perfection with just the right amount of char. The Suprema was also quite excellent, topped with a small diameter pepperoni that did not dominate the over all flavor.The crust was so good I even ate the rinds, they provide a Ranch Dressing and a Hot Honey to dip these into. Irresistible! The Ranch is infused with dill and the hot honey with chili oil. One pizza is most likely enough for two people, but you can always box up the left overs. Save room for dessert! Amazing pizza. We split a wedge salad - it was plenty for two people and it was delicious. Then we split the Sweet and Spicy pizza, adding pepperoni and the special butter crust with sesame seeds - this pizza was like it was from another world. It was that good. Truly is expanding! Our visit was during the soft open. Their square pizzas remain supreme. The bread is think like a focaccia. Enjoyed the sweet and spicy and it was as just a good as their Dana point location. Their circular pizza haven't been quite as impressive, this time tried the potato bianca, I know it's supposed to have potato but too much potato and huge potato chunks. Tried out the wings and they came out cold, not very enjoyable. Some notes: tons of managers and hosts for a soft open running around to get out hitches, but lacked servers. There was only 1 server for the entire front patio and taking drink orders for those waiting. We were only seen to take our order and to pay the bill and left waiting a while to place our order. Truly's website says to email them with large party inquiries. I emailed well in advance for a party of 9, and they responded telling me to "email them again later." I emailed two more times--politely--to see if we could get a reservation, and they just never responded. I'm so amazed every time at the quality and effort put into each pizza here. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the time and love put into each pizza for perfection. The blistering of the round crust is so perfect and the crunchy yet lightness of the square pizzas is phenomenal. The ambiance at truly always hits as well with their famous lemons scattered around the restaurant. The service here is always amazing too. We had been hearing about Truly Pizza on social media and were excited to snag a reservation at the new Laguna location. I called ahead to say we'd be ten minutes late due to weekend parking issues, selected the option to speak with someone on-site, but their line was disconnected. We arrived to a crowded entrance and a slightly confusing check-in where we were initially told there would be a wait, then someone else stepped in, stating our table was ready now and walked us to a small table in the back, cramped between a tree, a wall, and an outdoor heater. We were served by 3 staff members, who were friendly throughout, but had trouble executing the basics. Despite being told by the initial staff member who served us water that our server was coming, we found ourselves having to flag someone down a second time to remind we were waiting to order. A simple request for chili oil on the side required three separate follow-ups across three different staff members, including our own waitress and her fill-in when she was on break. When it finally came, it was after the third and last slice of pizza was eaten and by this point, the oil was not needed. It also did not look like chili oil; rather, marinated chili in a cup. No one checked in on us once the pizzas arrived. In fact, we did not see either the waitress or the replacement that filled in for her for a few minutes ever again after the food arrived. I saw both tending to other tables, just not ours. We were not asked if we wanted dessert despite being ready to order. Paid full price for our food with no apology for the mistake nor a discount extended to make up for it. The pizza itself was delicious. The staff is warm and chatty. Fantastic experience here! So many things they do right - starting with the service. The girls at the host stand were incredibly sweet and helpful. They made us feel welcome and that they were going to do everything in their power to get us a table! Our server, Tom, was funny, efficient and very knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant. Obviously the food was fantastic. My server recommended an off the menu mocktail which was great, and we got the sweet and spicy, skinny margarita and the Dante. Our entire table of 5 agreed the ranking was 1- sweet and spicy 2- skinny marg and 3- Dante. Would assume you can't go wrong with whatever you order though. My wife and I live in Irvine but are regular weekend visitors to Laguna Beach for food and fun. We had lunch at Truly Pizza on a Saturday afternoon and it was flat out the best all-around dining experience we have had in at least five years. The wait time was a little less than an hour and totally worth it. The staff were amazing, the ambiance was relaxed and charming (sit in the back patio if you can, away from the street), and the pizzas were absolutely delicious. We got the arugula salad, whipped ricotta and skinny spicy marg pizza. The arugula salad was amazing definitely a must get. The whipped ricotta was alright. It didn't have much flavor and not worth the calories. The pizza was just okay. I loved the think crust. BUT, when the pizza came, it was room temperature - not even the slightest bit warm. It was very disappointing for a restaurant with such hype. We did tell our server, and he said we didn't eat it fast enough. Mind you, we went for it the second it hit the table. The pizza also had some areas that tasted like pure salt. I'm not sure if they accidentally dropped some sea salt on our pizza. It seemed like it. Also, I ordered hot honey and they never brought it for me. I didn't even bother mentioning it to the waiter and just paid the $3. Overall, I didn't have the best experience here. It was extremely disappointing to be told that "to-go" orders were unavailable today, only to watch another customer walk out carrying four pizza boxes after openly stating they were ordered to-go and the place was not packed, there were several seats open in the place. If there is a policy, it should be applied honestly and consistently to everyone instead of picking and choosing who gets served. The hostess stated they were "full of reservations," yet failed to mention that walk-ins were still being accepted. What made the experience even worse was the fake "Have a Happy Mother's Day though" comment on my way out. After I left with my kids, my husband went back to ask for clarification and was then informed that walk-in reservations "open up at 4 PM." Proper communication from the beginning would have avoided the entire situation. If you cannot accommodate walk-ins or to-go orders, simply say so honestly. read more

Some of the staff aren't as friendly at the host stand but we won't let that stop our experience with the food and overall experience. Remarkably disappointing. The ambience is terrific with large umbrellas shading tables and guests from the sun. We were greeted warmly and were part of a party of six. First, the drink orders: the only available iced tea is already sweetened and we had one diabetic at the table who drinks plain black tea. Not a giant, faux pas but not a great way to start. Next, we are informed that we had a 90 minute limit at our table and little did we know it would be 90 minutes until our third pizza arrived. All three pizzas were cold. The pans underneath were cold and I'm kind of a stickler for a hot pizza. Pizza and hamburgers just don't go over very well if they were cool to cold and we went three for three here. I'm not saying the flavors were awful, but neither the crusts nor the ingredients could be honored when served cold. It was a full two hours before our check came, but that's not the end of the story. We ordered several salads and some french fries to get going and the fries were great. The house salad was unimaginative at best and they served us one little ramekin of dressing for three House salads. We asked for more and it took at least 15 minutes for it to get there and when the young lady arrived to deliver the dressings, she stated "here are your extra dressings." Well, not quite. They were the dressings that we should've been served in the first place when our salads were delivered. The Wedge Salad was probably the best thing we had but the fries were great as well. Service was spotty and slow and overall I feel like I'm giving a high grade with three stars having grown up in New Jersey and eaten Pizza, my entire life at some of the finest and most recognized pizza establishments in the country, I believe I can honestly say I'm a good judge of Pizza. The crust was amazing but not a fan of the bitterness of the tomato sauce. I'll try a different pizza next time. Must order the house made ranch and the hot honey. Our service wasn't the best, she was on her phone multiple times and not very attentive.
