The bar looks relatively small from the front with the smoking patio, but upon entering, it continues quite a ways back with pool tables in the rear. The crowd was very mixed, not sure if that's typical, and the place got packed by 10p, again not sure if that's typical. The drinks were cheap and the bartenders have heavy pours. The BEST combination ever. Free WiFi, too! We don't venture into the strip of WeHo often, preferring Silverlake, but Trunks is definitely a place I'd visit again. The only downside is parking, which is standard for this part of WeHo. Lots were charging $10, but we were lucky enough to find a meter, 2-hour parking until 10p, a few blocks away. read more

This is definitely a Dive bar located in prime west hollywood barville real-estate on Samo Blvd. The drinks are CHEAP & Strong baby and it doesn't need to 10:30-12 like at Fiesta which is nice. People are friendly and hey they have pool tables which could be fun to play during the day. My friends like to grab a drink here before hitting better bars where drinks cost more. WeHo is known for its mostly pretentious and stuck up disposition. In a land of of plastic, it's nice to have a dive bar where the drinks are equally cheap as they are strong. My knock though, is that the drinks can be a little too strong. I know, what an awful problem to have! But when you order a vodka soda and it's pretty much 97% vodka, 2% melting ice, and 1% club soda, then it's really hard to stomach. Get a drink with a more flavor and you should be A-OK. I could not write a review of this place without mentioning Kimo, who passed away a couple years back. He used to work security and was one of the kindest individuals I've had the honor of meeting. He gave me advice on coming out to my family and always took good care of me when I had one too many. Wow... This place has made some terrible changes. Firstly. They ended the Saturday drink special which was basically the only reason I ever went there. Secondly. I just got back from there 5 minutes ago (and if a manager is reading this, check and see who this is) and the bartender asked me for my ID. I handed it to him in my wallet and he asked me to take it out. I was happy to do so, but as I was, he said that there is a sheriff there and if I am gonna give him attitude... I HADN'T SAID OR DONE ANYTHING! Was completely uncalled for and out of line. This is the only place that serves Miller Lite tap. This is the usual pregame bar for my friends and I anytime we hit WeHo. This is typically the spot before the spot when going out. Most people do not stay here all night unless they're one of the regulars (who tend to be the older crowd). There's a good balance of younger and older on weekends. It's usually an older crowd during the week. But honestly, who really cares how old people are? No matter what drink you're buying, expect it to be considerably cheaper AND stronger. There is no place in WeHo (that I'm aware of) that is comparable when it comes to drinks and prices. Personally I feel like it's always 90% alcohol and 10% mixer-- so at $5 a drink you're definitely getting your moneys worth. Mon-Thurs nights can be a hit or miss. It depends on the weather as well as any holiday that is around the night you're going out. During the week the music tends to be slower and definitely not as loud. Weekends are usually very busy and people are packed in like sardines. The music tends be what ever is "In" and is usually VERY loud. Maybe a little too loud sometimes.. Trunks overall is a pretty small bar but you can expect 3 bartenders on weekends and 1-2 bartenders during the week like any other place. Glasses are usually picked up around the bar very quickly which is a major plus when it's very busy and you're trying to find a seat. There are pool tables towards the back of the bar which is always entertaining. The patio on the front unfortunately could use more tables/chairs although I'm not sure where they'd fit since space is limited. Overall this place is great and can be a lot of fun. I never thought I would like this place but I do. It is definately a tacky place. Its a throw back to the early gay bars and the crowd shows it. Not only are the bar tenders very friendly but the drinks are decent and cheap. They play great music and best of all you can walk in looking like a slob and not care. Trunks is cool. It's small, quaint, and chill. Sure, the music isn't jazz but it's chill because i feel i can come in to Trunks with my friends and not be judged as much as other weho establishments. The first place I stop at to get my pre party on! Cheap prices, hot bartenders, fun environment and good music. The ambiance gives me sort of a "Cheers" vibe where everyone knows your name once you become a regular. It gets crowded later on in the evenings Friday and Saturday but you get your drinks fast thanks to the speedy bartenders. As for it being a gay bar, mostly men but there's no discrimination towards lesbians. There are even a couple of straight folks that come around. Last time I came in and they were serving drinks in a plastic cup that was significantly smaller than the regular mug that we are all used to receiving for $5. I was assaulted the other night by a guy. I was sitting alone by myself and a guy came up to talk to me and we just exchanged hellos and all of the sudden his boyfriend or someone came and punched me in my neck. It was really crazy cuz before I could react.. some manager started pushing me out the door. I went back the next day to say I wanted to speak to a manager but, he wasn't there. I didn't touch the guy. He punched me and in a matter of less than a minute I was out the door. I can't appreciate a business like that. I didn't hear back from a manager or owner and it kinda seemed like my business was not appreciated because I was there for 30 min sitting by myself. It was a humiliating experience. I'm not a kid starting fights at a bar. That is not me. I'm not a jealous dick either. I hope this never happens to anyone again. It was also my first time there. I would only recommend this place if u wanna see drunk off their A people twerking and acting like douches. And I just want them to make it right! Cheap, strong drinks. However, the bartenders seem to want to reassign credit cards here. I have gotten the wrong tab back on multiple occasions, and so have my friends. My recommendation is pregaming at Trunks, but leave while you're still sober enough to double check your tab! read more

Okay, why is everyone calling this and Old man bar. There is a great mix of all ages here. I WOULD call it a no attitude bar though. You can go and meet guys who don't have that Abbey attitude. The drinks are strong so be no light weights allowed LOL! Michael on Monday and Tuesday nights is really friendly and knows how to pour. Waldo the bartender and his super hot brother Omar the bar back are also great guys. Kimo the bouncer is a big ol' teddy bear unless you piss him off so be nice to the door guys. Carlos the DJ is great at taking requests so don't be shy! All around if you want a great drink, great music, and NO attitude check this place out! This is my favorite bar in West Hollywood. It's super chill and always a good time. The bartenders are nice and good looking(of course), and have a heavy hand! And the drinks are cheap!! Need I say more? Unless you're a pretentious queen and want to spend $18 at the Abbey for a drink that isn't even equivalent to two drinks at Trunks and have something to prove then don't come here. It's the Gay Cheers! I love going to Trunks because the bartenders are always so friendly (like they enjoy working there) and the drinks are cheap and strong, like me. During the day it tends to be a little older of a crowd and pretty mellow but at night it's very, very diverse, crowded and happening. We always start out here and if we leave to go somewhere else, we usually end up back here. If you don't like strong drinks, beware! They now have an outdoor patio and have made several changes to give it a face-lift (marble counters, new stools, etc.). read more
