1/2 sausage link, burnt ends, and 1/2 brisket sandwich.
    Lacey D.

If there were 1/2 stars, I would give 3 and 1/2. There are so many glowing reviews that I was excited to try Tres Bon. Our takeout was: 1/2 lb burnt ends, 2 sausage links, and the brisket sandwich. The good: the sauce is sweet but has a nice spice to cut through it, the sausage had good flavor, and the pimento cheese and shredded brisket were yummy. The downside: the burnt ends were not *burnt*- they just seemed like chunks of brisket with no additional char, the sausage was tasty but dry, and the prices are fairly high. For 5 pieces of burnt ends, we paid $15, and the sandwich was $12. The sausage was a good deal at $2 a link (the links were huge). I still want to try some of the apps, so I will check it out again at some point.

I was there first customer to try the breakfast menu. Corn grits were fluffy and sweet. The bacon was one large crispy piece. The biscuit was very crumbly but clearly homemade. Having boudin and cracklings for breakfast was an interesting twist, but complimented the other items.

Some very respectable brisket with plenty of smoke flavor. They have a lot of other very delicious menu items that are also worthy of sampling such as their shrimp and crawfish. This is a nice spot that you might just zoom past if you didn't notice the bbq smoker in front putting off a nice hint of smoke. Very nice folks running and owning the place with a lot of obvious love put into decorating the place to honor their relative named Elaine that they started the business for in her honor.

Tuesday lunch special 2 meats with 2 sides. Alligator turd and brisket. Beans and andouille Mac n cheese. SOOOOO GOOD!

I pass this place everyday M-F on my way to work. Aside from Monday (because they are closed) I see the pit smoking and it always smells so good coming through the car AC. Today I decided to finally stop in and give it a try and it did NOT disappoint. I got one of the lunch specials for Tuesdays. 2 meats with 2 sides. Smoked brisket and a alligator turd lol, which is a jalapeño stuffed with meat and wrapped in bacon. Baked beans and andouille Mac n cheese. EVERYTHING was awesome. My ONLY con is the bbq sauce that came on the side. (I myself am not a huge bbq sauce fan UNLESS it's spicy) so the sweet bbq sauce it came with wouldn't be my first choice. So aside from that tiny thing, everything was delicious. I will definitely be going back!!

I'm Harahan resident for 30 yrs & never tried this place..... Unbelievable good / very large portions.... Got ribs, pork, beef brisket, corn grits, bbq beans..... Highly recommend.....delicious

Stopped by on our way to visit plantations. Tres Bon did not disappoint. We had 2 two meat platters; one with brisket and ribs, the other with brisket and pulled pork. The food was absolutely divine, so tasty and tender. I could have had just the brisket and grits. But the pulled pork and the ribs were just as tender and delicious. If I ever find my way back to the area, I'm definitely coming back.

    3 meat platter loved it

Went here for the first time. We had the cheese stuffed boudin balls which were delicious. We ordered the 3 meat platter, we had baby back ribs, brisket and pulled pork. All was cooked perfect the ribs fell off the bone, the brisket was moist and not cut to thick or thin the pulled pork had a ton of flavor and not so fatty. My sides Sausage Mac and cheese and baked beans which both were tasty. The staff was extremely friendly. Just a great family place to eat some down home bbq and very reasonable prices

I was hopeful for this place but it did not turn out as I had hoped. The other poor reviews of this place were not lying. First let me state that the counter girl was nice and accomodating and knowledgeable. The food is ample but just not flavored to my liking. I had ordered stuffed bell peppers plate. It came with 2 sides and a corn bread muffin. The bell peppers were large in size and fully stuffed but the filling was bland and mushy while the topping had a big splash of hot sauce and a melted grated cheese that mustve hardened over a heat lamp. The sides I chose were mac n cheese with andouille sausage crumbs and corn grits. The corn grits were ok...a bit bland but still ok. The mac n cheese was watery and the andouille sausage crumbs did it no favors. Then there's the corn muffin. This was hard and dry. It also had bits of sausage in it. It was just not good. Along with that plate we also has a pulled pork sandwhich with fries. The fries were good and cooked well. The pulled pork sandwhich was also decent but the bread quickly got soggy. In addition, we purchased some fresh cracklins. They tasted stale and flavorless. I was really looking forward to try this fresh but was sadly dissapointed. Also the ceiling was leaking right by the seating area. Im willing to give this place another shot bc I have read about their brisket being good and had not tried it. So I got my fingers crossed for out next visit. If you still wanna try this place , there is a coupon on local flavor.

    Hot fresh cracklin's...Crispy crunchy goodness!

Très Bon was super good. We had the meat pies (poor thing didn't last for a pic), Brisket Fries and fresh cracklin's. Brisket was super moist and the cheese sauce mixed with their homemade BBQ made them even better. Everyone was nice and friendly. Great customer service. Will definitely be back.

I came back last night really excited to have it again, but unfortunately, it just didn't live up to that first experience. My boyfriend comes all the time but this was my first visit and it was a pleasure. This time around, the portion seemed noticeably different this time around. There was a lot less shrimp, the sauce had the same Cajun flavor but was clumpy as if old and the crab cake we ordered--something we also loved on our last visit--was much smaller, but increased from $5 to $8. For a place in New Orleans, where the food scene is such a huge draw, that was pretty disappointing. That said, not everything missed the mark. Ashley, the bartender, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. Also, the gentleman opening the door was incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality ended up being the highlight of the visit. I still have great memories from my first time here, but this visit just didn't hit the same. Hoping it was an off night. I spoke with the manager Kelly on the same day of service but I was not satisfied with the resolution of offering a free appetizer on my next visit when purchasing an entree. Sad to say but that was my last visit. Kelly was really nice and listened but maybe her hands are tied with how the restaurant is ran and what she can offer. I didn't need a refund or a total order replacement but something else could've been recommended. $30 is a steep price for 9 shrimp in a pasta that was clunky/lumpy and not smooth as times in the past. Maybe it was because it was a togo order but most of my orders from this business had been to go, not all but most. In all, this falls on the chef that prepared this meal and I was informed by Kelly that the chef started everything was weighed and correctly accounted for however it was the cook on the pasta and lack of shrimp. This restaurant is located in a great location. In a large shopping center. So parking is not an issue. They have plenty of parking that surrounds them. They have bunch of handicapped parking spots in the front with ramp on the right side. They do have a few steps in front for easy access. As you walk in, you are greeted by the staff. They mention that someone will be with us shortly. We went on a Sunday before it got crowded. They said we lucked out. They usually get busy when local churches get out. We quickly paid for our table and advised us we welcome to sit anywhere we like. They said they offer many discounts available. Please ask before paying. We sat at a table near the front of the restaurant and easy access to the buffet. They mainly have large tables with hard wood seats and no padding. The waitress quickly took our drink order. Started out with an Arnold Palmer. Rare that they offer that. I don't know so far that another restaurant that offers this. And an ice water. She mentioned that they offer a small selection of beer? We declined. (Drink responsibly) The first plate was sample plate to get my lay of the land. Unfortunately my first plate was full. I noticed that they offer gumbo. So I had to come back for another plate. No offense, the cup was not enough. I was surprised that they served fried swai not catfish. The cornbread was delicious! Usually they are dry at most places. Maybe they been sitting out so long they dry out. This is not the case with them. The gumbo was seasoned just right. It is only chicken and sausage gumbo. Not seafood. Usually you can tell when it is freshly made. To me, it not only look good but taste great! Unfortunately they did not have ice box cake available. Few of the reviews mentioned to definitely grab a piece. However, they did have freshly made bread pudding and chocolate delight. Both were delicious! I could go on about the food. I digress. They offer free Wi-Fi but is password protected. If you are in the area and want some good food. This place does not disappoint. In my opinion.
