OMG! I read the many negative reviews and the very aggressive responses from TSS threatening to sue all of the customers who had terrible experiences there. (All the "positive" reviews are planted by the owner and his buddy.) Yet, like an idiot, I thought, "well, they're nearby..." so I gave them a try. They are: 1. Incompetent: they know almost nothing about phone repair. 2. Dishonest 3. Personally abusive I more or less self-diagnosed the phone problem before I came in. Likely a mother board. I arrived on a Friday. The place was a shambles; they were tearing up the flooring themselves, and everything on the counters were in total disarray. No signs of any actual repair work ever being done there. "Leave it with us, give me $25, and we'll call you first thing Monday morning to tell you what's wrong. We guarantee we'll fix it for $99. If we can't, we'll give you your $25 back." Nobody called Monday. Or Tuesday. Or Wednesday. So I called Monday evening. "Um...what phone again? oh yeah, um, we, like tried to turn it on every day..." Vamping to gain time. "Um, we'll totally check it out today and call you tomorrow." Three weeks later nobody had called and I was forced to just buy another phone, so my girlfriend stopped by to pick it up and get the $25 back. They actually mocked her, because although she had the receipt and all the paperwork, she didn't remember the color of the back the phone. (It's not her phone and it was always covered by a case cover, but they are sexist a-holes.) Worse, they refused to give her my money back, and gave no reason, other than they want the money! One of the worst businesses I've ever encountered in New York or anywhere. Believe the real, negative reviews and not the phony "they did a great job" planted reviews. I can almost guaranty the guy will respond with an aggressive rebuttal on Yelp and a threat to sue me, as he has done with all the other TSS customers. Wait and see. He was friendly and gave me a very good price on a screen replacement. Did the work right away and within view. He does seem to do a lot of different kinds of business at that location, but what do I care, as long as he does good work for a good price. Overall this has the feeling of a small community repair place - like the guy near me who does shoe repairs. Taslim is a miracle worker. I stepped on my 2010 MacBook Pro and completely cracked the screen, front and back. I first went to Apple to try to get it fixed, but they were no help. Came here to fix my phone screen, in only under 15 minutes I was of to go with a brand new screen plus screen protector they didn't charge. Should of played 85 dollars but only payed 40 because the problem wasn't that bad and they as I quote "hate to lie" in this shop. I dealt with a gentleman names "Tas." This is not a review of anyone else as I dealt with nobody else. Tas was superb. I had a cracked iphone 6S screen which he immediately went to work on replacing. It took approximately 30 minutes. He was extremely thorough and made sure that my touch-screen features continued to work properly, which can sometimes be an issue when replacing screens. His price was very fair and he gave me a complimentary screen protector. Nice guy too. Highly reccomend. read more

I took my 2019 MacBook Air to TSS after the screen went completely black on me. I really appreciated their transparency throughout the whole process. They explained what was wrong in detail and what needed to be done to fix it. They showed me online what parts were needed + the cost and calculated the total price right in front of me, explaining it all. I had taken my computer to other places before choosing them, and their prices seemed reasonable compared to the other tech shops I was looking at. My repair was delayed due to shipping reasons and they were nice enough to give me a lil discount (5%). I'm hoping I don't need a repair again, but if so I'll be sure to come back! read more

Comes in late, takes long breaks, doesn't answer the phone. "A few days" turned into a week, and then two weeks. Two hours turned into five hours. He was never able to repair a cracked phone screen. Finally had to take it to another local vendor, who was able to repair it in two hours. Seems that their only policy is NO WARRANTY and NO REFUNDS, even if they can't perform the repair. read more

The proverbial question, do you know a good mechanic and, if so are they honest and fair?  Well I have great news; not on a car mechanic but on a computer wizard. I have found a computer repair person that I unequivocally recommend to anyone in the New York (5) boroughs and Tristate area. Before I met this genius my late afternoon had started much worse, as I visited Best Buy's Geek Squad for my scheduled appointment. I was devastated to hear that my Microsoft SurfacePro computer was assessed  a "do not resuscitate" and that it was also out of warranty by a few months. The Geek Squad associate said that Microsoft would not replace a motherboard due to the computer's sleek surface design. Another product built for obsolescence, I was crushed! I was planning to go out with the guys and shared the bad news with Patrick and a few moments later I received a text from his wonderful wife Barbara who shared a name of a computer expert that one of their friends swore by. I was scheptical but crossed my fingers called the gentleman at TSS Phone and Computer, I was greeted by a genuine, friendly man named Tas (Taslim) who said he could replace a motherboard or whatever was the problem even on this SurfacePro computer which had an hour earlier been given last rites. I rushed from the Upper Eastside to West 86th Street before the store was to close. I was greeted by a warm, sincere person that had an unassuming quiet confidence that was founded on years of experience and a supremely proud intelligence. Tas took his time; like Tom Brady observing the defensive scheme, and slowly eased my pain and overwhelming dread and heartache that I had to buy a new computer that I could not afford to buy, not to mention reloading software and possibly the loss of the hard drive data. During a 30 minute truly enjoyable and initially nerve wracking conversation miraculously Tas resuscitated the supposedly unrepairable computer. His assessment was that the computer would not power up due to electo-magnetic static that shorted it out, possibly caused by the pet cat Tria being close to it. Tas also reformatted (2) hard drives that I brought with me and backed up my computer. He was sympathetic to a customer in need and is the fairest of computer talents. My 97plus-year-old mother went into TSS today to find out if her computer charger was working because it got quite hot when she charged her phone. She spoke with Salim who tested her charger and said it was "defective" because it got heated when charging, and sold her a higher volt charger, more than she needed. When my mother tested her old charger in the store, it seemed to work and she then wanted to return the larger charger, which she had just bought for $50 dollars from him. He refused to take it back and yelled at her throughout her time in the store; when she came home she was pale and shaking and is now napping from the stress of interacting with Salim. He did say that if he took back the charger he would still charge her $20 dollars from his time with her which is not fair business practice, especially for the elderly who cannot defend themselves from such antics. My family have long been customers of TSS for printing and copying, so I have had no problems with the store. But to have a 97 year old woman verbally abused over a computer charger and to be sold a larger is not a place to do business. read more

I bought an Iphone 6 from this company. First the battery kept dying. I was out of town and unable to receive imp messages, and so was unable to return them. When I returned I went to see the person in charge. Since the phone was only a few days old, I wanted a new phone or my money back. He would not oblige but said he would fix it. He was unpleasant. He fixed it. A few days later several of the settings would not work correctly e.g. the fingerprint ID and one or two others. I first had a relative reset it for me but it reverted back to a different setting. Then, out of town again I paid a professional to fix it so I could customize it. It worked for 6 days and reverted back again. I have not yet returned to the shop. I would not purchase anything from this person. He is selling inferior merchandise and is not honorable. He has caused me much wasted time and is not honest. read more
