I brought in a 2022 mackbook pro, never opened, having screen issues. 3 weeks later, tech called and said some one had stripped out internal screws (level 1 tech dudes did that) level 2 tech could not repair initially, replaced screen and batt, said was completed and fixed. Shipped home and would not operate for 3 mins without force shutdown and over heating. (Never happened before) Took to apple who stated screen improperly replaced and ruined mother board. I don't usually write reviews but I feel as though this business is doing some shady work. I brought my laptop here through my technology insurance, as the display screen was no longer turning on. I dropped it off and they said it would take 2 weeks to fix, which it did. When I returned after 2 weeks to retrieve my laptop, they said it had "broken again" that morning, and they needed to fix it. I didn't return until another 2 weeks later, as they had already closed the claim and did not contact me that it was ready. When I picked it up, they showed me the display was fixed and I was on my way. It wasn't until I had gotten home that I noticed it was a completely different monitor attached to my laptop - a massive dent on one of the corners that was never there, scratches all over the surface, cracks all around the monitor, worn rubber protection, sticky substance in the hinge, and it makes a clicking noise when I open/close it. Now have to work with Asurion to get it fixed again. read more

Not worth the 3.7 stars -- poor service and unprofessional staff. I brought in my Xbox Series S on Friday (05/23/2025) after Microsoft referred me. I was told it would be ready by Saturday and that they'd call with updates -- they never did. I had to call them multiple times over several days just to get vague, inconsistent updates. First, they said the power supply was fine and quoted $189. Then they changed the diagnosis and the price to $220. When I called to clarify, a manager spoke to me in a rude, passive-aggressive tone, kept interrupting me, and eventually told me they would not service my console anymore. Completely unprofessional, especially for someone in a leadership role. They missed deadlines, did not communicate, gave conflicting and untrustworthy information, and treated me like I was the problem. Went to the location on Delancy Street on the East Side. Brought them my Asus laptop in January with a cracked screen. The computer worked - but the screen was cracked. They told me it would cost $539 to replace with the screen ordered from China and it would take up to 4 weeks. I paid the money. 4 Weeks later they called and I went to pick up the computer and it did not work. They had replaced my touch screen with a non touch screen. They said they needed another 4 weeks. I left the machine with them. 4 weeks later I heard nothing - 6 weeks after that (now in mid May) I called and was told that they were still working on it and it would be ready withing a week. Had the same conversation for the next 8 weeks, each week they needed one more week. Finally half way through July I was told that they could not fix it and I should pick it up and would get a refund. Went to pick it up only to find it missing parts. They said they needed time to find the parts and I left it there again. Finally 2 more weeks later they said they had found the parts and I could pick it up. I did only to find that the screen no longer worked at all, and the laptop no longer works on the battery? Do not know why. They did give me a full refund but - Never going there again. Waste of time and effort for me with nothing but frustration. Bringing it to Best Buy to see if they can fix it. read more

My Google Pixel phone's battery was damaged when Google sent out an update. It is a widespread problem and Google offered to pay for a replacement battery. UBreakIFix is an authorized dealer and was recommended by Google, which they did. Unfortunately, during repair the technician cut a cable rendering all the right side buttons useless. No volume control, no ringer control, no power on/off. Nothing. Should the battery drain and the phone die, it can not be turned back on again. The phone is useless. Absolutely, without a doubt, uBreakiFix - Phone and Computer Repair provided THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I have ever had in my life. I'm in my 50's and a New Yorker for 3 decades. I've seen my share of bad customer service, believe me, but uBreakiFix somehow managed to exceed the absolute lowest possible bar with their incompetence, lack of even the most basic customer service skills, a shocking inability to manage customers' expectations, zero time-management abilities... the list goes on and on and on. I wasted at least 12 HOURS OF MY LIFE trying (and failing) to get the simplest repair made to my Android phone which has a broken screen. I waited in line for hours, listening in pain to the oh-so-cheerful, floppy-haired dude at the desk chit-chat with customers about how "cool" the stickers on their laptops are, and hemming and hawing about all kinds of unrelated issues (meanwhile, the line of angry customers in the packed sardine tin of a store continues growing as floppy-haired dude keeps shooting the sh--t about Comic Con and cartoons and fun stickers! Yay!) When I finally get to the front of the line, of course, floppy-hair tells me with a big sh-t-eating grin that my Asuriant claim was processed incorrectly! I need a cracked "inner screen" replaced -- not a "cracked screen" as it says in the claim. So I politely ask the uBreakiFix to... you know, FIX the problem... but, no, the burden is on me (naturally) to call Asuriant back, wait on hold for ANOTHER hour, and refile my claim. But guess what? THERE IS NO OPTION IN ASURIANT'S SYSTEM to fix a 'cracked inner screen." So, the Asuriant dude has to call uBreakiFix to ask them to MANUALLY update the claim... which they COULD HAVE DONE WHEN I WAS THERE! By now, hours have passed. I squeeze my way back into the sardine tin, which is now packed with at least 12 people, and by the time the sky is darkening, I finally make my way back to the floppy-haired fellow at the desk. I try to explain (as calmly as possible) that Asuriant cannot change the claim; uBreakiFix has to do it. The floppy-haired fellow jovially tells me that they have to order the part. Why? Because they only have it in black, not silver. "I don't care!" I say, on the verge of tears. Well...I have no choice. So my ENTIRE DAY IS DOWN THE TOILET, and my phone is not fixed. This requires me to cancel plans for the weekend that I was looking forward to after a VERY stressful past few weeks at work. A few days later, uBreakiFix calls to inform me that the part is ready, and I can come by any time and they will prioritize fixing my phone. I go back to this existential wasteland of a store, and, of course, there is a man in there with a SAVAGELY BARKING AND GROWLING gigantic husky / wolf / something -- on a leash, but looking and acting very menacing, barking at me, and not eliciting any sort of response from the owner or floppy-hair behind the desk. Praying I won't get bit or mauled -- although maybe that would be on-brand for this establishment -- I finally hand over my phone for repair. Of course, I'm informed that "It could take 3 hours... maybe longer." OK, real talk: I had to literally LOL when I heard that. Bro, come on. I heard you tell AT LEAST twenty customers the same damn thing the other day when they dropped off their phones and computers. "This should take 2 hours" or "Give us about 3 hours." LMAO! Terrible service, rushed to take my deposit then never noted it down. Thankful I brought my receipt to prove they'd already charged me $200. That was just the beginning though since the cracked screen they "fixed" only lasted 2 months before the colors on the side started to bleed again. I brought it back, citing the warranty and they said it wasn't covered since their warranty doesn't cover if you crack it again. The manager pointed to dust and particles saying it caused pressure and that "LCD damage" isn't covered by the manufacturer. Rather than send my console for repairs through Sony, I chose the quicker option of local drop-off at this location. I was quoted $200. At first it seemed a bit steep to me, but after speaking asking friends they agreed that was a reasonable amount for the convenience of a same-day fix. I dropped my console off and received a call not 3 hours later saying it was ready for pickup. Must have been a slow day because I wasn't expecting the fix to be that fast. Amazing!!! So I have the iPhone XS Max and I've had it for a while now... I dropped it and cracked the screen (I always rock a screen protector but I had taken it off and had forgotten to replace it... so of course that happened lol). However right as I was like "this insurance is worthless now, let me stop paying it and if anything else happens I'll just get a new phone", I noticed that part of my insurance plan included $29 screen replacement for cracked screens etc etc. I was ecstatic (way better than $200). I filed a claim and I was given the option of having someone come to my house, or me going to a store. I chose to go to a store, Ubreakifix on west 96TH street. I skeptically made my appointment (everyone always wants to make $ off of you one way or another... I was expecting to be charge extra fees or something), and got a notification saying to come in by a certain date to get my phone fixed. I popped in on Sunday, was greeted by Has, and he simply asked for my number and found me (I had also paid the $29 when I made my appointment). Told me it would take an hour in half. I decided to sit tight and wait as I had nothing else to do. Less than an hour later, he came back with my phone looking brand spanking new. Has was fast, efficient, and super awesome. Do NOT go to this location. I repaired a cracked screen here 3 weeks ago, last night my phone was fine and today I woke up to a severely damaged LCD with zero physical damage. I called and they said if no damage they'll fix it, then when I showed up he insisted they have a machine that shows them that it's "completely shattered on the inside". He took a photo as well but I was not allowed to see any of this evidence. Well, I went to a repair shop on 107th and Amsterdam that was 50$ cheaper and showed me a fully intact screen with no damage and said the screen they used was horrible, cheap quality, and whoever fixed it apparently shoved a screw into the phone. This location also offers a 1 year warranty if there's no physical damage. Go to 107th and Amsterdam and support a small business that will provide better service and better quality products. He wasn't the friendliest when I approached him. i explained I had scheduled an appointment through my provider. he went on to ask if I had submitted a claim which I hadn't. He said the cost to repair would be 400$ and change. I explained the Vzn rep explained it wouldn't be more than 30 especially because I did not have additional damages and the crack was only on the top of my screen. Jorge reiterated if I had filed a claim. I said no and this part could have been Vzn's fault. I don't know. Jorge then wrote on a post-it phonclaims.com and said to file the claim. I was upset and left the store. Long story short I was given the wrong website name. It was misspelled and I could have been told it was a quick 5 minute form so that I could do it on the spot. Something is fishy here. They do not want to fix phones under warranty. They're entire goal is to make the costumer pay out of pocket! Do not go here for warranty fixes-- beware! My google 5a phone randomly stopped turning on. Phone is 2 months old in perfect condition. Google sent me to this store for a warranty fix. The guy inspected my phone and said the screen needed repair, but currently they did not have the screen. He took my number saying we will call you when available. In 2 weeks never received a call so i called and this time someone new answered the phone and she told me there are two screens left and I should come right away. When i arrived, the same guy who inspected my phone two weeks ago- who knew my phone was a warranty fix- took my phone in the back. Five minutes later he calls the woman to the back and gives her my phone saying the screen has a crack and it could not be fixed under warranty. Why didn't he come out and return the phone to me himself and deliver the news? What's weird is that the same guy had inspected my phone two weeks ago and everything was fine. Took my laptop in to be repaired because it wouldn't turn on. They said they replaced the motherboard and charged me $250 which would be fine if they had actually fixed it. A day later I now realized that even though it would now turn on, it wouldn't charge. Took it back in along with the charger and they looked and told me it was my charger that was the issue and that I needed to buy a new one Fast forward two days and I was able to buy a new charger, right out of the box I plugged it into my laptop and it STILL wasn't charging. Tried calling again and they told me to bring it back in. This would be my third trip within the week. So here I am still no working laptop $250 later. Just utterly incompetent and a waste of time. Instead, they signed me up for an insurance plan that would renew monthly unless cancelled. They did this, without my knowledge or consent, in front of my eyes. When I noticed a charge for 27.50 on my card for Asurion+ I immediately asked what they had charged me for. They evaded the question until I badgered it out of them what they had done. They then insisted that they could not cancel the service and I would have to call their support. This is predatory and plainly illegal. I will be reporting them promptly. I could not be happier with the service I received at this location. They were able to fix both my front and back screen as well as some of the LEDs. They finished Exactly when they told me they would. I appreciated the timely repair. Additionally, they gave me some information that ended up saving me a little money. Additionally, the sales rep. was super nice and seemed very educated the repairs needed. He took a quick look at my phone while it was in my hand and knew EXACTLY what needed to be done. The repair took longer than it should have. They claimed my phone couldn't install a necessary diagnostic tool required to certify the repair. After waiting an hour, they then told me they had to reformat my phone, while backing up my phone, to install the tool. It was an unfortunate edge case and while most software was reinstalled afterwards, passwords and settings were dropped and email and browsers had to be rrcknfigured. I am not a whiner and complainer, and have never posted on Yelp before, but after the mess they made of this simple repair, I feel like I have to warn people. Its a long story, but I took my iPad (mini) in for a new battery, and didn't get it back for a *month*. In the process of replacing the battery, they damaged the screen, so they had to replace that, too. OK, so they did that gratis, and it *only* took a week.
