Scallops and shrimp hibachi-no rice, extra veggies
    Davlon S.

My Goddaughter chose this spot for her birthday dinner. She loves it here and I can see why. We were seated immediately and the service was very good.. I've had Hibachi from a few other restaurants in the Columbia area and this is definitely one of the best. They don't have the live show experience you get at some other places, but they make up for that with more food options. This is a Japanese restaurant with very good seafood and sushi options, along with Steak. I don't come to this part of town often, but I will make a trip just to eat here again.

Food gets 2 stars. Service gets 4 stars. All in all, I feel like 3 stars is a fair rating of this restaurant. My son and I ordered an appetizer, a couple miso soups and 3 sushi rolls and only one of them was good. The ginger served on the side with each roll was clearly expired. The seafood dynamite was pretty good. I've had better, but it was okay. The miso soups weren't that hot, but we're also pretty good. We ordered two rolls to begin with after our soup and appetizer & were only delivered one roll that wasn't even the correct order. Our server apologized for not putting in our other roll order and he was actually very nice. A tuna maki roll had been delivered to our table even though we ordered a spicy tuna maki roll and as you can see from the photo, it was rolled and prepared very sloppily, so it fell apart before it even touched our mouths. I didn't bother to mention how it was the wrong order to the server because we were hungry and ready to eat, so we just ate it anyway. We were both disappointed with it though. Then the dynamite roll came out. It was warmer than the miso soup & was a little bit better than the previous tuna roll we had. It could've used some spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzled on top, in my opinion, but nonetheless, it was ok. Then, our last roll came out, the Pink dragon roll, and it tasted good. So, we left this place on a better note than we came, thanks to that last roll. Food is important when it comes to the whole experience in a restaurant and this place just feels too short. The sushi chefs need to do better & need to keep up with their ginger expirations & the menu could use a better selection of sushi. We just weren't impressed at all and it our server had not been so nice, I would have given this place 2 stars.

I was skeptical after the reviews, but decided to give it a chance. Great experience, visited on a Thursday afternoon aprox. 2pm, they close at 2:30p until dinner time. We were practically the only ones in the restaurant, fast service, nice spot to have a luncheon, meet up, lots of space. They have a bar area also, that opens in the afternoon. The whole restaurant was clean including the restroom, no bad smells. They didn't rush us, I ordered a yummy watermelon martini, sushi etc, see pics... All my food was freshly made, only issue I had was the rice was kinda overcooked, but that was it. Do yourself a favor and at least try it! I will go back for dinner jus so I have a good comparison. Be patient at dinner time, it goes a long way in your experience. The location is in Harbison area close to the mall, so expect lots of folks when eating here on the weekend. they have have another location downtown, which will probably be busier, lots of colleges.

Never a bad meal here. Temperature checks upon arrival, face coverings required. My kind of place. Our server was outstanding and everyone enjoyed the food.

We came looking for a COVID safe experience and for some healthy, good food. Found it! Came in and was seated immediately. Sat outside with the wife. We ordered some a couple waters, some sushi rolls, salads with ginger dressing, and a couple Hibachi plates. The salad came out super quick and the ginger dressing was great! The sushi rolls came next and I'm sorry I didn't take a picture because they are well done and were very delicious. They are generous with their portions. The hibachi took the longest but it was very much worth the wait. Full of flavor and savory. We got out for $55 after tip. Will definitely be back.

5 stars for the server. I wish I remember his name. When he noticed I couldn't decide which sushi roll to select, he asked what I liked and made suggestions. I went with his and it was absolutely amazing. Between my handsome date and my delicious sushi, I couldn't have been happier. This is the first restaurant I've been to in Columbia that I'll insist on returning on my next visit. It's a great date spot. Even with the busy Saturday evening crowd, we didn't wait long and the food didn't take long even though our server cautioned us that it may be a slight delay. No complaints whatsoever.

So. A little misleading on the store front sign. Wasn't expecting hibachi when we went. However, totally a wonderful surprise. Katherine our server was wonderful. The lemon drop martini on point. Pink dragon roll was yummy. Can't say enough about how well the service was here. And sometimes that makes all the difference. TRY THE BAKED MUSSELS!!!!! OMG

The host was very kind, but our waitress was cold and not very tending. Despite the bad service, food was good and came out very quickly. Menu is a bit confusing since there are different appetizers on both sides of the menu? Also a little disappointing that we couldn't order anything off the kids menu, although I understand. Some of the prices are a bit high compared to other Tsunami's but it was still delicious. Nice chewy yakiudon and juicy chicken! Delicious! Soft shumai and flavorful gyoza. Good experience overall.

Service and food was exceptional. Came on a Saturday night around 9 pm. Nice upscale look inside and our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied with our food and drinks. Will be back again and highly recommend if you're in the area!

I've been to Tsunami three times so I feel like I can definitely say it's just okay. The first time I came here for lunch and was impressed by the cheap lunch options and had a great meal here. The last two times I came to Tsunami was for dinner and dinner has been a lot less lackluster than the lunch. It's a lot pricier for dinner, which is a given, but I really don't feel the food quality matches the price point for dinner. The service here has always been great and the restaurant itself has a good ambiance. But still, at this point I would only come back for lunch.

So far the sushi is fabulous! Waiting to see how the hibachi stacks up!

I would give a 3 1/2 if I could. The food is great. The service leaves a little to be desired. They are definitely slow. We waiting quite a while between the sushi and the hibachi. We also noticed when we came in that we had a 15 minute wait but there were a number of tables that were empty. Maybe they are short staffed.

After shopping, we came here around 2:30 pm. We were greeted and sat at table right away. We ordered lunch special and waiting time was ok. No complaints about food, cleanses of the restaurant, our server was pretty delicate and move very fast. Will visit here again.

Since we were in the Columbia area, we had to come back! The service here is top-notch, and ALL high end restaurants should take note. Servers and managers are always standing around in the hallway practically waiting to help you, are there to start conversation and make you enjoy your experience. Our waitress constantly came around to check on us. Great work! In Charleston, we got the prime rib and loved it. So, as a result, we got the prime rib again AND loved it again! It was just like how we remembered it; tender and great flavor. Their sides come in large portions (shareable). They do have great mac-and-cheese. It kind of gives us like a Spanish vibe, probably because it consists of a certain spice or Jalapeños (my guess), but that does not make it spicy! All it does is adds complexity to the flavor. For dessert, we shared the cookie skillet. It comes with ice cream on top with chocolate syrup and caramel on the side. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.. that's how we like it!! I highly recommend you give Halls Chophouse a try. You will not be disappointed!

The problem with the coffee was the cream. It should probably be served around room temperature. Because the creamer was so cold several of our party had to ask for frequent warm-ups. Our server, Kristen, was very personable, pleasant and accommodating. A couple of us ordered Bellini's and mimosas. My Bellini was just OK. My standards are high, since I've had them in Venice, Italy. The Hall's Bellini was not very tasty and on the watery side. My wife tried to order the sweet potato pancakes, but they were out. So she was disappointed, and ended up with the lavender scented brioche French toast. She thought it was OK but was seeking a stronger flavor. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. I don't order this very often, but there was a good portion of sausage and the flavor of the sausage was enjoyable without being too salty. Our daughter ordered crab cake Eggs Benedict which features a creole sauce. She enjoyed it, but the temperature of the dish could have been hotter. Our niece's daughter had the farmers omelette with the apple sage sausage. The apple-sage sausages were excellent (I got to sample one) and a very good deal. The ambience of Halls is always great. The service is usually quite good and the food is usually excellent. This is our second brunch at Halls and I'll have to say that our first brunch experience was a little bit better for the reasons noted above. I still rate it the best brunch in town.

The only downside about my born day is the close proximity to Valentine's day. Which can sometimes make the planning around the commercialized love day tricky... especially when it comes to restaurant reservations.... Womp womp. Backstreets Grill said they could accommodate a party of 8. They were clearly busy and with our party size we could understand. Nonetheless, we had a very loonnngggg wait, which was frustrating and deflating. We waited 4x the time the young ladies initially told us upon arrival. However, once we were finally seated things started to turn around slightly. I say slightly because we were seated on the enclosed patio, with a portable heater but several people were cold. Just to think they kept asking us and others if we wanted to sit outside. (It's February @ night). Now the food: Some of the dishes were more favorable than others and I must admit all of my personal choices were great. Appetizers: -Mussels - White Wine (My Order) -Fried Oysters (I tried) -Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna -Lump Crab Dip (I tried) -Tomato Parmesan Soup (My Order) -Side House & Caesar Salads (I tried) I personally had the Mussels, which were perfect, and the tomato parmesan soup and both made you want to lick the bowl. The broths were so good. I tried the fried oysters, they were also very good, but the presentation was a little messy. The Lump Crab Dip and the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna completely fell short and were not memorable at all and both of the side salads were sad. Entrées: -Cajun Chicken Pasta w/ Blackened Shrimp (My order) -Buffalo Chicken Pizza (I tried) -House-made Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes & vegetables -Pork-chop w/ mashed potatoes & green beans -Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla w/ Fries -Ribeye w/ Truffle Parmesan Fries My sister and I both ordered the Cajun Chicken pasta, I added the blackened shrimp to my order, we were both extremely happy. The dish was not spicy but it was well balanced. The recipients of the Meatloaf, Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Quesadilla were all also pleased with their dishes. The folks that ordered the ribeye and the two pork-chops were not impressed... the dishes were just ok. Our server Adrian, was pleasant, but you can tell he was very overwhelmed which sometimes didn't translate well. As the night went on we understood he was being pulled in multiple directions at once and he did good despite of it. Overall I enjoyed my celebration and experience @ Backstreets Grill. Just A Note: I notice that they can get busy so be ready to wait. Even smaller parties were forced to stretch their patience.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

My aforementioned tenders and fries were pretty good as well, and I liked how they carried some local beers to compliment the brand name items.  All-in-all, I really enjoyed my visit to Blue Marlin, I'll definitely be back in the future, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in at least once!

I went back, and it was at the front because they attempted to get it to me. I was so grateful cause it was eaten the next day. We sat on the rooftop, and even with the rain, the atmosphere was great. The rain didn't affect anything, and the music was amazing! Lots of old school jams that I love. I'd definitely go again whenever I'm back in Columbia.

I felt like it was slightly overpriced compared to the average (West) Columbia market for what you get. The waitress was pleasant and she did a great job handling our orders. The restaurant is placed in a fantastic location. You get a view of Meeting St and of the bridge heading into downtown. The inside seating was a lot smaller than I expected so I would definitely take the rooftop whenever possible, but I don't believe the rooftop is open for reservation.
