Nice casual spot for some delicious Korean food. For those who are contemplating the spicy options, do be warned that the spice level, even at level 1 is quite a bit spicier than most of the Asian restaurants in the area. With that said, if you enjoy spicy food this place will definitely hit the spot, especially with the great flavors and ingredient combinations that you can definitely taste the quality in. Service is a bit minimal here as you clean up after yourself after the meal. The Rose tteobokki is probably about the right spice level for most people to enjoy the chewy stir-fried rice cake with a good level of saltiness provided by the fish cake and sausage that's simmered in a creamy spicy sauce. If it's too spicy for you, I'd definitely recommend mixing in some additional rice cakes or other ingredients at home, but don't miss out on this delicious sauce. If you're not ad adventurous though, the bibimbop here is delicious with a tasty mix of radish, mushroom, kale, carrot, bean sprout, and a perfectly fried egg. Though the gochujang is recommended to be mixed in, asking for teriyaki sauce creates a deliciously sweet and non-spicy alternative to enjoy this dish. Overall, quick, simple, and delicious. You may be a bit limited if you're not a fan of spicy food, but even with a few modifications you can enjoy flavorful and fresh food that's presented well.

My family said this was some of the best food they've ever had. The owner was there and took a lot of pride in his food and his restaurant. All around it was a great experience.

I went to Ttobokki Korean Restaurant with my husband and a friend. You order at the counter. I immediately felt pressure, standing in front of the counter while pouring over their extensive menu. I finally decided on the seafood udon. There is house made broth available for those dining in. This broth had a really good flavor to it. When the udon arrived, it was too hot to eat. After letting it sit for ten minutes, it was so too hot to eat. I was forced to order another dish, so I would have something to eat. This is not a good way to show your customers respect. The bulgogi bimibop that I ordered as my second dish was very good. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I will not be returning to Ttobokki Korean Restaurant.

Got my bibimbap to go and ate it by the lake, perfect for a solo date. Lots of flavor and friendly service!

Finally got to try this new place! Everything we had was delightful! I esp like the wings and hottek (Korean dessert pancake). The wings came with toasty rice cake super yummy! The kimbap we had got sesame leaf in it which I thought was refreshing and added a new dimension to the normal rice roll! Relatively speaking, the ttekboki got nothing to write home about. It would hit the spot if you crave it.

Why, oh WHY, did it take me so long to try this place out? It's literally three minutes from my house. I went with a friend for lunch, and it was DELICIOUS. We both ordered dumpling ramen and split the bulgogi nachos. Everything was so flavorful with just the right amount of spicy kick. No complaints whatsoever the service. Staff was friendly and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time. My only recommendation to the restaurant would be to make the pricing more obvious, but that's a minor thing. I definitely plan on going back, and often.

I'm a fan of Hakuya Sushi so naturally I'd check this new spot out. Love the cupbop and kimbap and the variations we can make. Also love the soup provided free for those dining in. It's so cute inside and I'm never disappointed in what I choose.

Our first time ordering, so we decided to try more than we needed to. Overall, nothing was bad and all tasted good. We enjoy spicy, and most places aren't actually that spicy, but I was actually surprised by the spice level from the Spicy Bulgogi Kimbap- definitely had some heat! We thought the price to portion/quality was reasonable.

Delightful inviting atmosphere right when you walk into this cozy little Korean restaurant! Colorful fun decor with many vegetarian (clearly labeled on the menu) can be made vegan options! Loved this #veganized Bibimbop from TTOBOKKI Korean Restaurant! To make #vegan simply omit the egg and the kimchi! A bed of white rice topped with #kale, sautéed #mushrooms , #onions , #beansprout, #carrot , Korean #pickledradish, supposed to have lettuce (they may have forgotten) and choice of protein (#friedtofu was available). The server offered steamed but that wasn't available. Order your food, have a seat and it's brought to you! It became quite busy shortly after we were served! This dish was absolutely delicious and a perfect portion!! Hubby was picking at it himself! Liked my dish more I guess !! $7.95 without additional toppings Will definitely be back to try other dishes!!

I really want to like this restaurant, but I have some major concerns. Hear me out. First of all, it's located very convenient off of Rt 83, by Starbucks and several health clinics, super accessible location, very nice artistic design, hip and modern, cute and Asian. Love the aesthetics. Ordering food via phone was super easy. Staff spoke English and were very helpful and friendly. They explained patiently what their customization looks like. You order a base (pretty cheap but itself), add your desired topping protein ($~3), so the total of any dish is around $10+. Not as cheap as I thought it would be based on the menu alone, but liked the customization. They also have online ordering which looked very functional and easy to navigate, which I'll hopefully try in the future to test it out... Now it comes to the food... which unfortunately is the most disappointing part! The order was supposedly ready in 25 min, which we arrived right around then to pick up. By the time we got home, which was only 10 min away, the foods were cold/stale (I wonder if it had been sitting out for much longer...). Nothing was even lukewarm, but more like room temperature cold. The bulgogi nacho is super stale, it doesn't crunch like any chip. Portion size is also pretty small compare to how much it ends up costing. What I really liked is that for some dishes they used paper containers, which is supposedly more environmentally friendly! Now onto the taste-- their flavor profile is waaaay too sweet and lacked the depth of typical Korean foods. No umami or sesame oil flavor. Quite honestly, I have not had any fusion Asian food this sweet-- not even Thai food. This comment is not specific to any one dish, but all across the board. * Japchae -- this was good at first but again lacked other flavors other than sweet, so it was a bit hard to finish later on. Otherwise, this was not bad. * Bulgogi Nacho (they provide 3) -- chip was very stale, bulgogi was cold and kind of dry. I really think the foods just had been sitting out for a while, there's no way that's how it would taste if made fresh. * Rose Tteobokki -- very minimal fish cake, lots of overly sweet sauce it was overwhelming after a few bites, they had hotdog meat in it but it was generic western sausage rather than Asian sausage, and even the sausage savory couldn't overcome the sweetness. I did like that they added melted cheese up top. * Bibimbop with bulgogi -- as a stable, I'd expect much more quantity, though it's very neatly packed so I think they prioritize aesthetic to the actual taste/quality. The egg though, this is probably the most disappointing fried egg. It's a very tiny egg and very hard. The top layer looked like sunny side but bottom is all cooked through and the top is very dried and kind of leathery. How? This is another cue I think they didn't make this fresh! Quite disappointed... * Cupbop with spicy pork-- this wasn't really what I expected, it's kind of like a smaller version of Bibimbop. Spicy pork was also pretty cold, hard, and dry. Hmm. But I liked the addition of corn, even though the corn was also kind of dry and hard. They said they have a lot of sauce options and can do on the side, and I said I'd try them all on the side, but when I went to pick up the food, they said they couldn't do on the side so they had already added all the sauces in the bop. Ok, that's fine. But when I actually tried to taste it at home, I can't tell at all what they put in it. :/ again, it was all just sweet and no other prominent flavor profiles. I'm left feeling quite confused and dissatisfied. I really want to like this place since there are not a lot of Korean places up north, and it seems like it's Asian run, and I'd really want to support businesses like this, but I can't help but to feel like this is just a young/hip, possibly overpriced place that focuses more on looks than the actual content. I'm not sure if I would try it again, given how overwhelmingly sweet every dish was. I think I'd be willing to try some of their other stuff if they change up their recipes!

This place is great! Finally got around to going after driving by so often. The portions are great. Got bibimbop, cup bop and Kim bop. Service was quick for lunch. It's a quick service vibe, so really great overall.

As this was just down the street from our office in the Kemper Business District, she thought this would be a cool place to hang out to recap the year for our department and she was right. The place itself is a cute house with what looks like a cool outdoor space, when the weather is nicer. Inside is a small bar when you first walk through the front door. We we seated in a small room off from the main bar, next to a lovely fireplace. We started out with charcuterie boards. Prices range from 4 pieces for $30, 6 pieces for $46 and 8 pieces for $58. The selection of meats and cheeses and were very nice, but the prices seemed steep. The cheeses and meats were as follows: Wooley Rind (Green Dirt Farm) - soft ripened sheep's milk MontAmore (Sartori) - semi firm Italian style Cheddar Goat Gouda (Central Coast Creamery) - crumbly aged goat cheese "Creamy Sexy Blue" - German triple cream cow's milk with blue veining Jamon Serrano, aged 24 months Stagberry - Elk Salami with dried blueberries Finocchiona - Tuscan style salami with fennel seed Pig & Fig Terrine - Country style pork pate with dried figs, cinnamon, ginger All were very good and had a lovely flavor. Due to the number of people nibbling, I asked for extra bread and was treated with toasted sourdough, which was very nice. For dinner, I got the Chicken Tinga Panini (Tomato-Chipotle Chicken, Queso Oaxaca, Arugula, served with Salsa Verde & Guacamole). This was a very good sandwich. I loved the idea of Chicken Tinga in a sandwich format, and it worked. I had saved half of it to take home to have for breakfast the next day, but got wrapped up in good-byes and walked out and left it. Man I was mad! My manager ordered the Roasted Beets (with whipped Feta cheese, toasted pistachios, red onion, dill and a red wine vinaigrette). The serving was huge! She loves beets and said that the dish was very good A few people got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and said it was very good. I wanted to try the oysters as I love East Coast ones, but at $20 for 6, couldn't wrap my mind around that. The wine list was pretty good and on this particular night, we got bottles for a crazy low price. My manager got a bottle of red (can't remember the name) that was $75, but she got it for half price. Same for me for a lovely bottle of sparkling rose. The hostess had a list of wines on her tablet that she showed us as well that were 50% off. The location is quite a drive from Chicago, but the times I have to go to Lake Zurich for team meetings, I may just stop in to camp out for eats and drinks while waiting for my Uber and rush hour traffic to die out.

For the hand-cut meats, we tried the brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredibly tender, smoky, and practically melted in your mouth. I was a little worried the mac and cheese would be too spicy because of the Hot Cheetos, but it actually had just the right amount of kick. The combination of creamy mac and crunchy Cheetos made it extra flavorful. To finish the meal, we shared a burger, and wow , it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Compared to similar restaurants in this space, I prefer to go here with friends for its generally quieter atmosphere and overall vibe. Maybe the biggest complaint here is that the food preparation can be a bit inconsistent between dishes, and between different meat types. That is, that the output can range from delicious to somewhat average (and sometimes overcooked), depending on what you order. For example the birria was super flavorful and served with very crisp tacos and a delicious consomme, but the cilantro-lime rice and refried beans felt like an afterthought. The smoked pork belly quesadillas had a great flavor and just about the right amount of fattiness that was short of perfection due to the pork being overcooked. The tres leches cake also had a great creaminess and flavor to it, but parts of the cake weren't really soaked in the milk at all, which created an inconsistent experience - depending on where I took the bite. On everything I tried though, the presentation was excellent and there were enough great things about each dish to overcome some of the shortfalls. Overall though, I feel with improved execution on ensuring that all elements of the dishes are equally good in terms of texture and flavor -- there's a lot to love about Ancho & Agave. But even in its current state, it's still an enjoyable spot to take a group of friends for tasty food in an impressive looking spot.
