I'm easy-going by nature, and I understand that a restaurant can have an "off" night. I have now experienced the delivery nightmare that is Tu Casa enough times to compel me to give other potential customers a heads-up: don't use their online EZ2Eat menu service if you expect them to receive your order and deliver it, be prepared that no one will return your call when you call the restaurant to inquire about your order, and know that it will take calling EZ2Eat directly in order to get a refund. The staff is ineffective at dealing with this, bordering on rude, and it's inexcusable. Furthermore, know that the green sauce cups will be 1/3-1/2 full and they will charge you .50 for each additional cup, and this adds up quickly. Also, if they do manage to receive your order and deliver it with the half-filled sauce cups, they'll probably get your order wrong and run late anyway. Save yourself the time and delay in getting your credit card refunded by just picking up from Pio Pio instead. read more

We were really excited to see this new location because this one is closer to us and we usually go to the one on Metropolitan Ave. The restaurant was rather small. It fit about 10 tables of 2's. The food was still pretty good but unfortunately the service SUCKS!! It took 2 hrs to get our food!! SOOO SLOW!!!! We were so frustrated. The restaurant wasn't even packed!They just need to hire more cooks or something. The waiter was extremely rude too. I have to constantly ask for more water. Was with someone that wanted Spanish and I initially was going to go to Cabana since it was a nice evening. The person wanted roasted chicken and since I looked it up already, asked if they rather go to Tu Casa. We walked there which was a few blocks from Cabana. I had called earlier about outside seating but that's the metropolitan location, was already in the area so figured to try it. We were welcomed by a gentleman at the register (max I think) and asked if we wanted romantic lol. We sat down and the waitress came out. Its BYOB which can be good but I def think they should make a house sangria as the only alcoholic option (please!). Ordered calamari which was a good size to share between 2 people and it was good. I ordered the churassco and rice with salad. It probably was about $30. Which isn't bad but isn't great. That kind of entrée should always be rice/beans and a small salad but hey that's just my thought and experience with Peruvian restaurants. The steak was good, the only thing was that my beans weren't to hot but whatever. The food was good and I actually took it home and had it for lunch at work. My friend enjoyed his chicken and maduros. All in all, its a cool spot. I usually travel to Brooklyn for this type of food but will come back to try the Jalea and def byob. I don't think it would be good for huge parties due to the size but I guess try anyway. I enjoyed my food and will returning soon. read more

Started off with the beef empanadas and they were savory inside and nice and crispy on the outside. Then had the skirt steak (entrana) that was delicious and perfectly cooked. Staff was nice and quick. Highly recommend Tu Casa and will definitely be coming back soon. read more

Hubby and I went here for the first time. We were really impressed! we would have liked a glass of wine but it's BYOB so hubby bought beers down the block at 7-11 ;-) I had chicken with rice and beans and hubby had pork chops. we shared a dulce de leche cake. it was reasonably priced, the food was good and the service was good. we did have to wait a while for our food to arrive and our waitress never mentioned or apologized for the wait. If I had to sum up my numerous experiences ordering from Tu Casa it would be: Good food, bad service. Of the numerous Latin food options in Forest Hills/Rego Park, Tu Casa has the best food but their service is terrible. I'm not a believer of drowning a small business with a bad review after one bad experience so please know this is from at least 4 poor experiences. In those 4 orders, I have NEVER gotten my food faster than 1 hour and I live a 5 minutes away by foot. We always have to call back to see where our food is and numerous times the person on the phone puts us on hold and never comes back. We then have to call back and harass them like they're doing us a favor. The woman on the line is rude and cold and it feels like she's trying to rush you off the phone. I'm done with Tu Casa for the foreseeable future as there are other options in the neighborhood. However, if they could get their act together, I would be happy to give them another shot. read more

Sometimes impulse decisions are good for your soul. I drive by this place all the time and I always would say to myself "I wonder how the food at this place is? ". My curiosity came to an end this weekend when I finally decided to go in on a cold Saturday night (1/13/2018). Apart from the fact that some of the tables are right near the door I liked everything about it. It was welcoming and cozy. I gave them 5 stars because their food was on point. I think they can do better with service, but I assumed our server was new so I would like to give him a chance. I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the chicken and Morro Rice and my BF got the Steak, white rice and beans. In all honestly as soon as the food arrived we devoured the food. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The seasoning on the chicken gave the skin a nice crust. The morro rice was fresh and flavorful. The steak that my BF ate was a beautiful piece of meat that was cooked to perfection with the flavor just pouring out of it. All in all, we finished our entire meal (that usual never happens since I am a very picky eater). I definitely recommend this place if you are craving good food that will satisfy your soul. I will definitely go back and or may be do some takeout now and then when I have family and friends over. This is our favorite restaurant in FH by far!!! We have been long time residents in the neighborhood and we are so thrilled that Tu Casa is here! Their chicken is the BEST we have ever had. You couldn't dream of making a better chicken yourself and the price is RIGHT!!! Not to mention their "secret" green sauce. We get their incredibly seasoned rotisserie chicken numerous times a week as it makes for a fast, delicious easy weeknight dinner. And we never leave without buying an extra container of this famous sauce to keep in the fridge to put on almost anything. Best of all, the staff is so friendly and nice and the restaurant is immaculate! Max is awesome! He is warm, friendly and personable and it feels like you are eating at home (only better!). The place is weird because they give you a big bowl of beans and coffee saucer size rice? I inquired and they said that's how they serve it. They charge $5 for a little bit of rice? Ridiculous. I took my father, Ramon Rodriguez, to Tu Casa Restaurant, for his 85th birthday and we had the greatest time (as always). He ordered the penir with arroz morro, tostones, avocado, and, for desert, the chocolate fudge cake, which in my opinion is the greatest chocolate cake we ever tasted, and they put a big firecracker candle on it and sang a birthday song for him. It was so nice of them to do that. In addition, we love the food there. My husband loves the beef stew, and I always go for the penir with arroz morro. I make penir, but it never comes out the way they make it, delicious, melts in your mouth, juices popping with tastiness. Whenever we go to the city, my father always wants to go there because they sell great good from the tostones, to the rice and beans, just about anything you order, I am confident, you will like. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! On several occasions i had to wait for 45 min to 1 hour for a whole chicken because they would run out. Many times i would order and pay for a pint of their white sauce...pick-up or delivery and they could never get the sauces right! I would always get the wrong one! I dont like anything spicy at all, i have rosacea so i dont want/need/can afford the flare associated with it...even if i checked if the right sauce was delivered..they person taking the orders would be nasty and say there's no one who can deliver the right sauce for you for another 2 hours because they have other deliveries "in your area"...hello! just drop it off!...even if on your way to the next place with the doorman...i'll go down and get it! I'm 3 long blocks from the restaurant! I guess i should check my order before i leave if its a pick-up...but that's not my job and if i order its at like 8pm by the time I'm able to pick up bc i work late...you get paid to get it right and not mess it up 8 times out of 10...in my college days i used to be a waitress and took delivery calls as well...even back then i knew there was no room for error and checked my delivery orders before they went out to ensure for accuracy. I came in after a long day out in the heat with a toddler and this restaurant made my day with their service and food. To start, they gave my kid a small cup with a lid, filled it with ice and her drink and placed a straw in (it was 90 degrees today so she enjoyed her iced drink a lot) and took my order. I usually get the chicken tenders for my toddler and ceviche for myself. The chicken was sooo tender (pun intended) and juicy yet crisp. My kid loves them! The ceviche was also as good as can be. I've had ceviche at very upscale restaurants and this one really impresses me with its flavor, texture, quality of the seafood which is alway fresh and yummy! The shrimps, fish and calamari were perfect. The staff is super friendly, accommodating and go out of their way to make their customers feel special. A shout out to Max and the waiter tonight who treated me like a celebrity. Thank you so very much! You made a so so day end on a high note!
