The steamed yuca was way too hard and tasted like nothing. The whole chicken was good, but the serving of rice they give for an entire chicken makes no sense. Fried yuca was good. Beans and rice where so bland . Felt like they took it out of a can, and rice cooker. No season whatsoever. The Green sauces they have are really good though. Today at approximately 18:25 I ordered 1 pork chop, white rice and beans. The rice and beans were good. The pork chop was the second worst pork chop I have had in my life. The pork chop had no flavor, tasted old and had a piece in the shape of a small triangle cut out of it at the edge. Two weeks ago I ordered the same thing and the pork chop was even worse. The pork chop tasted like it was fried in fish oil, it was hard and stale. Today I decided to call the restaurant and spoke to the woman who took my order and complained and I even asked her if they have a new cook. The woman responded I took 3 orders for pork chops with yours and you are the only person complaining. I paid $14.00 for my meal and it was a waste of my money. Do not support this business. I have ordered from Tu Casa two different times for delivery once in January and again a few weeks ago. In January the order was messed up and they forgot my beans. No one ever came to bring me what I paid for! I called several times and was given the run around. However, during the pandemic I had decided to try one more time BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS A THICK PIECE OF HAIR COOKED INTO MY BREADED CHICKEN. I was disturbed by what I saw because I had eaten a few pieces before I saw that and it made my stomach flip. I immediately threw out the plate. I must have called 6 times before I end up speaking to Virginia the nice young lady who takes the calls she tried to accommodate and send a different plate. However, the manager said I needed to fish through the garbage to give them that plate back....mind you I had taken pictures of it and could send it to them. Long story short. If only they would explain why there are delays rather than lie and say it's coming in 5 minutes. At the 50 minute mark, they say it's coming in 5 minutes. At the 1 hour 15 minute mark, they said they are checking with the driver and leave me waiting on the phone for someone else to pick up the line and ask how can I help you? 1 hour 30 minute mark, still no food and no one is picking up the phone when trying to call. At this point, letting seamless know we are cancelling for non-delivery. At the 2 hour mark, I'm in bed! Doorbell rings, are you kidding me??? Some say we should only judge the food, but really service counts too and shitty service doesn't make you want to come back no matter how good the food is and in this case, food was just OK so I don't feel like I lost more than they would given there are other just OK options out there. We order avocado never came with the order with didn't get charged for it thankful. Overall my experience going there wasn't appetizing to me, unfortunately I will not be going back there to eat again. I also saw a hair on garlic bottle in the refrigerator. Love this place! I come here all the time with my husband and baby. The sangria is on point, and we typically get the whole chicken with rice and beans and douse it with the green sauce! I am super excited to bring my friend Silvana Diaz here because she is always asking for us to go to a "real" Peruvian spot so she can order her favorite dish - Tallarin Verde (Pesto Pasta). So finally Forest Hills has a great Peruvian spot with a full Peruvian menu! AND they have lunch specials!!! Really really cute atmospehere inside, as the interior decorating is very nice. They even had some Sangria to sample at the bar area. The chicken was on the dry side, not as moist as others, but the seasoning and green sauce were spot on. I placed an order online to only receive part missing and the other part wrong, called and spoke to a guy that told me he'll send my replacement right away, after an hour pass by, no show I decided to call, I tried calling them several times just to find out they're probably closed, so I have my dad waiting up at 10pm with no dinner!!! This is so disgusting! I'm so mad right now I can scream!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! First service because this was my first and last experience: I came in for lunch, the waiter was very nice, and I told him that I was in a hurry if he could expedite my order, in the meantime I would order a soda. 30mns later although, there were only 4 persons still nothing, so I asked my order to go, 5 mns later still nothing. I have been to many Peruvians in the area and never got this attitude, but this manager is so rude and not professional! I walked in to Tu Casa and wanted to dine alone but the servers and the manager made me feel so welcomed and at home that I forgot I was even alone. Tu Casa always has some lovely food. I'm patient, and forgiving. But, the people who work at Tu Casa really don't care about their customers. Most of the things that I'm about to mention have happened to me multiple times with Tu Casa both in Forest Hills and Kew Gardens. I waited a year and figured I'd try them again after the last incident. Big mistake. Last night they once again failed to include the complete order in the delivery. Also, two of the containers were crushed, and the food and sauce was pooled in the bottom of the bag, which was leaking. I called to alert them to this. They didn't offer to deliver the missing food or replace the crushed dishes. Instead, they said they'd request a full refund for me from the manager who wasn't in but would call the next day. There has been no call. "The manager will call you," is the second time they've used that dodge on me. You would think the manager should be in when the restaurant is at its busiest. But, no. The manager doesn't seem to be in when you call when the restaurant isn't busy either, or when you call back several days in a row. Instead of having hot food to eat last night, I spent the next 20-30 minutes cleaning up the mess from the leaky bag in my kitchen, on the counter, on the floors leading from the front door, and on the bottoms of my slippers. While the person I spoke with last night was courteous, more often than not if you call about a problem they're rude. So, if you're successful in getting them to deliver the food that's missing from your order, you're left wondering if they spit in the missing food they're bringing you. They'll mix up orders, too, giving you the bag that was supposed to go to someone else. Then, they'll yell at you over the phone because you didn't call them about it soon enough. One night, I waited over two hours for a delivery. That's after I asked the person who took my order specifically how long it would take. They promised me it would arrive within the hour. The person I spoke with next basically said, "It's not my problem. I only work here." The food was cold when it arrived. I know they skimp on the sauce that's delivered. That's a common complaint. The little sauce containers are never full. But, they still want to charge you more if you ask for extra sauce. They've been that way since the first restaurant opened in Kew Gardens. I don't know if they still do, but they used to charge for extra sauce when you ate at the restaurant, too. And, there was the time we ordered the tres leches cake and the portions they delivered were half the size as usual, while the price remained the same. Then there was the time when the avocado on the salad was brown and rotten. Other than that, a few of the dishes are really tasty. But, most of them are not worth the money. read more

I have ordered from this place for the last 4 years starting from their first restaurant near richmond hill/ Kew gardens. Way to obvious they are cutting corners in forest hills. the pernil the last few times I have ordered is a mixture of dry with an odd taste..maybe old oil..but there is a weird taste/smell in the Moro rice with pernil. My husband had loved them and used to order all the time for lunch,dinner prob breakfast if I didn't catch him. He won't even consider ordering from them anymore. Wife and I came here since it's close to where we live in Rego Park. Decided to check it out. We ordered a half pitcher of Sangria, one appetizer, shared a main course and shared one desert. The food was great and the waiter was great too, so I have absolutely no complaints about the service nor the quality of the food. I have seen the lunch menu, which was reasonably priced. My only issue with the restaurant is the dinner pricing. The total came up to $81.84, and at first, I was like okay whatever and I was trying to calculate the 15% tip, but then I saw that it was included already. The tip was 18.34%. Since the tab was over $60, we would have given a $10 cash tip. We did order some things that were on the pricier side, so that's just how we opt to tip. Wife and I were the only ones there, and many customers seemed to be ordering take out, so we already kinda knew that we were paying extra for the dine in experience. I would recommend that the management NOT include tip. Especially not in this neighborhood, where there are so many other dining options, and where there are competing Kosher restaurants on Friday nights. Let the tip be based on what the people want to give. Also, I would suggest considering reducing the price of the dine in experience. Otherwise, you will just end up doing take out and having empty seats most evenings; and I know - because I used to work in the restaurant business for a while before relocating to the area. Just some tips! Not sure if we would be coming back, because for the price, we can get sushi 4 nights at Bamboo Ya, or take out 3 times at our local Peruvian place.
