I see that reviews are all over the place for this joint. Personally, I am giving it a one-star but I respect that for others it would not be. This rating is based on my experience with the quality of of the food. Started with an order of 'spring rolls'. Normally I've found spring rolls to be fresh, not fried. These were fried, and the beginning of the grease bomb of a meal. The tofu dish and noodle dish were both heavily fried and greasy. I did not feel well all weekend. End of story. So first thing I would like to say is they let my bf and I come in an hour before they opened to pick up take out food! That was awesome! Our thai ice teas were way too sweet, which was too bad. My pumpkin curry was good but I felt like the portion seemed small. The chicken satay was great! I loved that it was actual chicken. I hate when you get those and your like, what am I eating bc last I checked chicken doesn't have the same texture as a sponge. So yeay for real chicken! Excellent customer service! I just wish they would step it up and be amazing, because they could if they wanted to. This place is so close to my house, but I still ended going down to R'hon Thai (I think that's what it's called), down on magnolia by M and G burgers. I have yet to find a please that is better then theirs! BUT if you are ever in this area, picking up pet food at pet club, then this place is convenient. Nothing fancy but it's an option. I took off a star because we came back and the food just wasn't that great... I guess it all depends on what you order but I have had ok food here and not so great food. We have been to this family-owned Thai Restaurant several times, and it is always excellent. And then when you receive the bill, it is so reasonable, that you don't know how they do it. It is the best Thai food we have had anywhere in Marin. It may be a bit hard to find, and it may look like a hole in the wall, but try it once and you most certainly will come back. read more

Tub-Tim is a little bit quiet and dead (unfortunately) but is a fantastic place to eat. It's pretty much in a location that is not well frequented and doesn't attract as many visitors as it should. We went here last night for dinner and it was a reminder of why we seldom consider Tub Tim Thai for a meal. The old decor, hole in the wall atmosphere and friendly staff are just fine. The problem is the food. It's americanized Thai with little flavor, marginally prepared. And that's if your preferred choice is even available. First I ordered the five-spice chicken. I was immediately warned it would take a long time. I got the distinct impression the kitchen didn't want to take the effort to make it. Fine, I chose my next fave, a duck dish. Sorry, no duck tonight. So I pick the grilled beef which is served with grilled eggplant & zucchini. The beef tasted good but it was tough. Both the zucchini and eggplant were not grilled enough-half raw which means yuck! My husband's chicken curry was mediocre. No zing, no delicate balance between heat, salt & sweet which is a hallmark of Thai food. At least, they don't charge extra for the rice like many restaurants do in the Bay Area. read more

My husband and I are new in town so we are going around to try different restaurants. We have come to this place twice and finally decided that we will definitely not coming back. The food is just ok, super small portion, and super expensive for the amount of food and its quality. All the items are $10+ and the portion is 1/2 to 2/3 comparing to Thailand restaurant in Mill Valley or other Thai restaurants in town that would cost the same. The food lacks flavor big time. The one man who serves there (maybe the owner himself) is very nice, gentle, and attentive. The restaurant is super small and empty most of the time. It's not worth it to eat here seriously. Visiting the area from Washington, went here for dinner earlier this week. I don't think we have ever really had "bad" Thai food - until now. Spicy hot beef was gristly, with very little flavor. Pad mee kaw (I think this is the name; it is the wide noodle, spicier version of Pad Thai) was one enormous glob of noodle, very little flavor and not much chicken. My wife ordered the kan gai chicken (in coconut milk curry) and it was almost flavorless, with some overcooked string beans and a very thin and bland sauce. Service was OK, not great but not bad. There were only about 2 other tables occupied when we were there so the kitchen and staff sure did not appear to be overworked. We took the leftovers home, out of habit. When we got home, we looked at each other, and tossed them in the garbage - something I don't think we have ever done in 20+ years of eating Thai. Prices were reasonable, had the food been any good, but we would not recommend this place regardless of price. I told my wife that it must take a conscious effort to screw up Thai food this way. You would be better off getting something at Panda Express, or from the Asian selection in the freezer section of the Safeway, and save $40 or so. read more

Well, I just don't get the low reviews here. This place is great!! If you're looking for a fine dining experience spread out over 2-3hrs and 5-7 courses, this is not your place. That said, this place excels at what it tries to do. It serves up great, tasty meals with good and attentive service inexpensively and promptly. We've been eating there for literally 10-15yrs - never a bad meal. It's great for a quick and tasty dinner before a movie at the Corte Madera Cinema. The clear soup served without charge before the main is pleasant but I often go for their wonderful tom ka tai soup for a charge but worth it. Yes, the pumpkin chicken curry is great, but my wife usually gets the chicken basil eggplant - yummy! read more

Suggested for carry out. It is on my way home from work so I occasionally get take away from here. As others have stated small restaurant next to gas station. with friendly staff. MANY Thai restaurants in the area to chose from but there food is generally good. It almost has to be, with so many Thai restaurants in the area if they are not at least solid with the food preparations and selections they would fail fast and Tub Tims has been here for years. As others have said, the service is outstanding, but unfortunately, the food falls short... I've eaten here on and off for over ten years. Initially, the food was fantastic, but my last few meals have been mediocre at best. On my last visit, we practically had the restaurant to ourselves -- when we arrived there was one other couple, and while we were eating, one person came in to pick up a take-out order. I know times are tough, but I've never seen this place so empty when other restaurants in the area seem to be busier. read more

We went there on a Saturday evening with no one else in the restaurant. I saw the pumpkin curry chicken as a special and ordered it.
