Silly me, I was clearing the filter on my dryer when something blue went flying off the shelf next to the dryer, directly down the shute and completely out of reach. Neither the filter nor my long dryer cleaning brush could reach all the way down. My boyfriend injured his back, so couldn't help. After reading reviews on NextDoor, I called Paul at Tubby's. He'd just had a cancelation, so came right over. He was very nice, knew exactly what to do, found the offending escapee which was blocking the filter area, and noticed that it was very clogged with dirt. I clean the filter regularly and also with the brush I have, so either those don't do a complete job or the fellow we bought the dryer from didn't clean it before selling it to us. In any case, Paul cleaned it out, as it could be a fire hazard, and also checked the vent to outside. Since he was there, we asked him about my Samsung oven. As someone else noted, he doesn't work on Samsung kitchen appliances (but he does work on Samsung laundry appliances). However, he made the best suggestion, that the temperature setting should be adjustable. I still had the manual, but if I hadn't, he said it was probably on YouTube. I had to find the correct explanation in the manual, but did. It took a number of tries, but I believe that my oven is, for the first time in 4 years, heating up to the correct temperature! It was 100 degrees off, which is pretty awful for a stove purchased new. But with Paul's help, I think I finally have a working oven! Thank you, Paul! I saw the good reviews on Paul and Tubby so I gave him a call, he got back to me within an hour or so and I told him about our screeching Whirlpool dryer. We got an appointment for a few days later - he's a busy guy - and he showed up on time and got right to the job. Parts are on backorder for mine but fortunately he had the one part with him that it really needed, a new roller for the drum, and in about 90 minutes he had it done. It's not cheap, about $230.00 for the on site repair but it's usually your only and best option. And you could not find a more pleasant, honest and diligent repair service. I believe the work comes with a 30 day warranty which is very reassuring. Highly recommend! read more

I called to see if they would work on my Samsung refrigerator. The guy I spoke to said they don't work on Samsung anymore because they have to many issues and are not easy to fix. He then quoted a common problem where they ice up and the problem "cant" be fixed. I was already well aware of this issue, had already fix it myself and when I tried to inform him its not the problem I was calling about and why, he proceed to tell me "I already had things well in hand" then he hung up on me. This is an example of what not to do as a business, not only have they lost a customer, and received a bad review for their piss poor service, they also lost a chance to learn a simple fix to a major and wide spread problem with Samsung refrigerators. If I was them I would have perked up played nice and asked for more detail which I would have happily provided, and then sell the repair and make a ton of money because so many Samsung refrigerators have this problem and its easy to fix. I've been a Auto and Diesel Tech for 20 years, if I had a penny for all the jobs I didn't want to do because they were challenging and the manufacture made it absurdly hard to diag. and repair I'd be a millionaire, to think that a company wont work on something and treats their customers poorly all because the manufacture doesn't make it easy to repair is appalling, and by the way if anyone from the company reads this, the icing issue can be fixed permanently, the part cost about 1 penny, and the hardest part of the job is defrosting it enough to install the part, but don't ask me I don't seem to remember how I did it anymore. read more

Paul came out twice (no trip charge or extra fee the second time which was a VERY pleasant surprise!) and not only fixed it, but taught me how to maintain my dishwasher. I found Tubby Appliance on the internet and am so glad I called them about my repair. The woman who books the service appointments "Amalia" is very professional and helpful. She fit me right in and even said she would text me if there were any issues. Paul came out to look at our problem and he couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. He wasn't able to do our repair because it was much more involved and not something they do so he referred us to someone who could help, didn't charge us a fee since he wasn't able to do the repair and was on his way. The first time we used Paul, many years ago, he gave me his number on a piece of paper. Since then we've called him every time we needed help and have recommended him to everyone we could. He's always been reliable, friendly, helpful and reasonably priced. Recently we called him to look at our five year old dryer that he'd fixed twice before (not his fault, we think we got a lemon). As his prices have risen somewhat and his trip fee was pretty substantial, and that we'd fixed the dryer just last year at a high cost, we decided to look at a new one. After talking and researching a little more we changed our minds and decided to go ahead and fix it one more time. He had said to get ahold of him if we needed to and I texted him. I asked him if our trip charge would go toward the repair and also if he might replace the thermostat along with the thermal fuse (the broken part). I never heard back from him! We waited for a few days and made the decision to buy a new set anyway rather than look for another repair person and pay another trip fee. I texted him again to say never mind and still no response. Not sure why the text might have offended him but after years of working together I hoped for at least a response. Sometimes words sound better in your head than on paper. :( read more
