Brisket plate with hush puppies and slaw.
    John R.

A very rustic setting. Indoor seating has a stove in the middle of the room which did a pretty good job of warming up the room. Since it was in the 40s outside, sitting near the stove was the best. A large trailer is where you order and pick up food "food-truck" style. I had the sliced brisket plate with coleslaw and hush puppies. The hush puppies were very good and the highlight of the meal. Brisket was ok (not the best) and the slaw was not very good. Service was friendly. Overall, it was an ok place to eat.

    Enjoying the steak burger!

Great food and service!! Our whole family enjoyed it so much!! Super cool atmosphere too!

This place has a great burger but the BBQ was a mess. I always get the trinity when I try a new place. Brisket- no smoke ring (cooked at to high a temp), slightly dry, seasoning not present, one chunk of bark was black as night and hard as a rock. Sausage- basic with no flavor, almost like cheap links from the store that were warmed on the smoker. Ribs- texture wasnt bad but like the brisket it was cooked at to high a temp. These were way oversmoked and had no other flavor. Sauce- tasted store bought and unimpressive but not bad Potato salad- bland and missing any complexity . I wouldnt recommend the lemonade either. It was sugar water with a hint of lemon. Service was great but this meal was a total miss for me. I may be spoiled with places like Black's in Lockhart or Brett's in Katy as well as the HLSR World BBQ Championship Cookoff but good BBQ isnt hard when an experienced cook is on the pit.

Beef Brisket, Sausage, Ribs, Cole slaw, Mac and Cheese.

Serves BBQ and Seafood. I opted for the BBQ. I always believe to properly evaluate a BBQ establishment appropriately, you have to sample the holy trinity of Texas BBQ--Brisket, sausage, ribs. Before I get to the meat, let me start with service, atmosphere, and sides. Service was not bad. Young man taking my order had good manners and was pleasant. However, when I asked him what type of wood they use to smoke their BBQ he said mesquite and that wound up being incorrect, so as far as staff being knowledgeable about the most basic elements of their BBQ, there is room for improvement. Owner was nice but when trying to talk to her, I felt like I was a burden to her and she was in a rush to end what was only a 30 second conversation. Atmosphere is basic dive roadside BBQ joint. No A/C. Just a carport with walls built on. Black plastic on walls. Definitely not pleasing to the eye. For my meal I had two sides. I enjoy the classics, so I ordered the macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. I am very particular about my cole slaw. This cole slaw was really good. I wish it had a little more bite to it (little more pepper), but overall the cole slaw was really good, and I would order it again. Macaroni and cheese was perfect. Macaroni noodles cooked perfectly. Cheese melted, soft, not burnt, great consistency. The BBQ sauce definitely leaves something to be desired. Not a fan. Very middle of the road to sub par. Not horrible or nasty, but just nothing memorable about it. Alright, now for the really important part--The Meats. I ordered a half rack of pork ribs, 1/4 pound brisket, and a 1/4 pound sausage. The brisket was really dry. I'm guessing bbq process wasn't right. It was only 11ish am, so it wasn't that it had been drying out all day. Also brisket had essentially no bark on it and smoke flavor was minimal. If I come back to this establishment, I will definitely not order the brisket again. The sausage was moderate. No real spice to it and only a hint of smoke. Not bad but not great. Now to the pork ribs. This was definitely the highlight of the meal. The ribs were very good. Good flavor from the rub and fats. Very juicy. Very good smoke flavor to them. I had one rib that was a bit dryer than the others but other than that the ribs were definitely a win. Maybe I'll come back to try the seafood and fish and a re-order of the ribs, but I'll definitely be trying other local BBQ restaurants before making that decision. Overall judgement is that this BBQ is not worth going out of your way for. It hurts me to say that because I really want people to be successful, but in this case it's the truth. I hope that they can turn it around and in another time in the future they will change my opinion.

    Ribeye sandwich and coleslaw
    Lisa E.

We got the ribeye sandwich and coleslaw. Smoked turkey and sausage. The ribeye sandwich was very good with the thick well cooked grilled onions. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy. The smoked turkey was so flavorful and moist and delish. The smoked sausage was ok. BUT I am not a sausage fan. I just tried it. But the turkey was really well smoked. I would have given 5 stars but the ribeye sandwich was a little tough in spots. I would definitely order it again but tell them to cook it less

Well tonight was a new experience for me. I've been to the Harbor restaurant a handful of times…read more The servers are nice but service and food preparation is always exceptionally slow. This being a holiday weekend we expected it to be busy but our group of 4 adults and 2 kids were seated right away, around 6:45. We ordered drinks, soda and water. Drinks came about 30 minutes later the soda and water about 45. Our sever seemed a bit frazzled and we Finally ordered our food around 7:40. We ordered a few more drinks and waited, very patiently. The server mentioned getting us some biscuits a few times but they never made an appearance. By 8:30 the restaurant was pretty cleared out but no sign of any food. Still no food at 8:45 so we told our server if our order hadn't been started we would like to settle our drink bill and go. Then someone named Peyton (hostess??) told us our ticket had only been in for 37 minutes and it would be another 20 minutes until our order would be done. I'm not sure if our server got busy and forgot to put in our order or what happened but we had been waiting an hour snd now it was going to be another 20 minutes. We said we couldn't wait any longer and requested our order be cancelled. When my daughter went to pay for the drinks Peyton told her to never come back. She was shocked and told my son-in-law who then went back in to talk to Peyton. The owner then joined in and basically repeated "never come back". After reading several reviews I guess I'll join the distinguished list of patrons who complained and were told to "never come back". If you do dare to try the Harbor Restaurant I recommend you eat a snack ahead of time as you may be waiting quite a long time for your meal!

No longer a food stand, this place has it all! You will be transported. We were. Terrific music…read more Tropical colors. A cute exterior. And the menu at El Santo Kamaron is wonderful. It has photos of everything. I love ceviche and I had a very difficult time deciding. Ceviche, Aguachile made in multiple ways, Coctels, Seafood Tower, Tostilocos con Ceviche! Hacha and all kinds of shrimp. Beautiful Snow Crab. They make trays of items. Bowls. Boils. Molcajete. Ramen noodle bowls. There is Zarandeados style to cook shrimp and octopus. There's Beef, too. Fajitas. Carne asada. Bistec. Barbacoa. Burgers. So, we had our favorites. I ordered a Plato de Ceviche that comes comes with fresh thin fried corn chips and a fish tacos platter (4). My husband ordered this huge Carne Asada Plate. Our sweet waitress was kind and patient. Much of the menu is in Spanish for items that I'd never heard of and wanted to know about. I tried not to monopolize her. There was all this incredible looking food around us! It looked like we were served a very tasty fire roasted salsa Negra to kick things off. Our food arrived fairly soon. My husband's Carne Asada Plate was enough for two. Served on a tray, it came with 6 flour tortillas and he took half of what you see in the photo home. The meat was so tender and the grilled whole onion was delicious. My ceviche rocked. Crunchy veggies and well seasoned and marinated fish and shrimp, lots of avocado and a surprise! Tender bites of octopus at the edges of this enormous serving of Ceviche. It was perfection. Next time I want to try the Aguachile. My only problem will be which one? I opted to take half the ceviche home and jump into a fish taco. There was so much fish, it barely fit into the tortilla. My husband had one too. There were two delicious creamy sauces, Pico de Gallo and purple cabbage. Crunchy enough to stand up to everything, it was SO good. I took the other two home of course. This area of downtown Ennis is so very nice. Plenty of parking. Benches. The restaurant has patio dining but it was much too cold. On a Sunday evening, every table was packed, but we waited just a couple of minutes. Service was lovely. We'll definitely be back. I can hardly wait!!
