I started the order process back in July of 2023 and was promised delivery by November at the latest. We're now in 2024, and nowhere close to having the shed completed. Throughout the process, the post-sales support was among the worse I've ever experienced and the company has yet to keep a single promised timeline. I have been promised countless updates, only for people at TuffShed to pass the buck to another "department", and weeks going by without any updates. We have undergone a 6+ month remodel on the inside and outside of our house and TuffShed's process, communication, and support has been the worst part of our entire remodel process, despite me paying nearly $20k for a shed to a company that does nothing but makes sheds and somehow can't manage the most basic parts of the process. They also outsource several parts of the process, including installation, which causes further delays. Take your money and business elsewhere - I am in the process of buying 2 additional sheds from Heartland and my experience with them has been night and day when compared to TuffShed read more

Jason was always there and always followed up. Was nice working with him. Installers could not communicate well, so had some challenges there. Missed air vents, forgot to get me spare paint, four-five nails exposed, but overall still looked well trained. read more

I did lot of research on sheds. At one point I was going get a shed from Costco road show special. I do believe the Tuff Shed is quality shed. I was concerned after reading some of the negative reviews but as my installation crew reminded me not everyone is posting positive reviews I do recommend getting all upgrades I personally got the upgrade floor taller ceiling & window. Ordered my shed last summer and had it installed in October of 2020. Customer support and the sales teams have been great with communicating when install dates would be. They had no idea what I was talking about. Did not have me scheduled. So I rescheduled. The same story!!!! 3 hours after the delivery window, the shed arrived. Missing roofing material, vents and additional parts. It was too late to construct anything. So they painted the walls then STACKED THEM ON TOP OF EACH OTHER WHILE STILL WET! The sales woman was easy to work with, but it ended there. The company doesn't seem to have good communication within their own organization. Paid top dollar for the shed as I was told it was the best in the market. After installation I found the workmanship to be below standard. This surprised me but I called our saleswoman and she promised to make things right. It took over 30 days of calls on our part to finally get someone over to correct the poor workmanship. Example: 1. the door wouldn't shut 2. over 65 nails protruding inside the shed 3. vents not installed so shed became a haven for spiders. As of June 19th, we are still waiting to talk with the supervisor. All of this was so unnecessary. Update June 26, 2017 Finally reached Ryan Kondra, and have good news. Ryan was a good listener and did not push back on my evaluation and my experience with his staff and workers. 1. Sent someone out and made the corrections 2. offered negotiated compensation for the inconvenience and frustration, again Ryan did not defend or push back, which was refreshing. Tuff Shed has a reputation as a quality builder and I would suggest the following: 1. Make sure ahead of time that you know the entire process and who the contacts are with their phone numbers. 2. Originally, we went to a competitor and gave them our shed specs. We were told "no problem," but the closer we got to finalizing the order, the more we heard "oh, we can't do this part" and we "have to change that part" for whatever reason. And then the lead time to produce and deliver it was more than three months! Ultimately, it became not what we wanted, so we contacted Jason at Tuff Shed. Jason had appointments right away and was extremely friendly / easy to talk to. He worked with every single spec and requirement we wanted on our shed. He even had some suggestions we hadn't thought of to make our shed even better. The design program on their computer was fantastic, that allowed us to see many angles of the finished product before we committed to the final design. The price ended up being comparable to the passed-on competitor, but Tuff Shed was able to produce and deliver our shed within a few days (even faster than we were even ready for). I had a Tuff Shed installed at my home on a concrete slab. The shed design is great but the installation was done very poorly. There is trim paint splashed all over the siding, the siding paint is already bubbling, some of the siding has random skill saw cuts that the installers made by accident. Given my experience, I would not recommend a Tough Shed. I have been trying to reach the Tuff Shed San Jose location (931 Cadillac Ct, Milpitas, CA 95035) and continue to receive no response from the location. I'm super disappointed. read more

The customer service we received from Tuff Shed was awful. They canceled on us a few times before they came to install the shed and it was so poorly done, they had to come and rebuild the entire thing. The first shed was not prefabricated and just came as boards. The installers had not been trained to construct the shed with the horizontal slats. The nails did not go into the studs, the slats were two different colors and were completely uneven. When the installers realized there was no salvaging what had been done, they left it with no doors and no roof. Tuff Shed left it like that in our yard for a month. It looked like trash and they were not sympathetic about it at all. We spent $8000 on our shed and they treated us like we were inconveniencing them. After a month, they finally came out and built a new shed, but by that time the weather had turned and it was too muddy and snowy to put our stuff into it. I am only giving them two stars because the second shed they built was pretty nice. It is just a shame we had to go through so much trouble to get the finished product. read more

This review is regarding the sales process (through Home Depot), the scheduling, and the installers. Everything about this process was easy. I went to Home Depot, checked out their displays, grabbed a pamphlet with all of the info about the sheds, options, and measurements, went home and measured my yard, went online and configured the exact shed I wanted, and bought it. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS INSTALLED. The installers were from PMG. Daniel, Juan, and Jose. They were insane. I got the 10x12 barn-style shed, which is 17 freaking feet high, with a loft and workbench and pegboard, plus a couple skylights and a vent, and these guys went from bare land to fully-installed/sealed/painted huge shed in 5 hours. I'm handy, but that would've taken me three weeks and a lot of beers. I couldn't be happier about the whole process, and I'll update this review as time passes if anything changes. Tuff Shed is not so Tough! The shed it's self is overall not bad, however, considering the high cost compared to other standard sheds, my recommendation is to go with another shed. My main issue is my Tuff shed had to be moved. After speaking with several contractors that have moved Tuff sheds, they no longer move them due to the flimsy metal frame the shed sits on. They explained the frame and floor joist can easily crush or bend when moving the shed. Being I could not find someone that would touch this shed with a 10ft pole, I'm going to do the job myself, lord help me! I've also noticed the tough flooring that I selected which I believe was an option for an additional cost, is not very tough at all. I had a 2x4 fall over in the shed and it actually chipped one of the floor boards. read more

I should have written this a few years ago when I got my Tuff Shed. I was amazed, then, watching the installation. They carted away my old rotting shed, at no charge. Then they laid the foundation and underfloor: solid stainless steel! A big awesome sheet of stainless steel which looked like it was built for the ages! THIS shed is not going to mold or rot. Then the heavy door. It felt like closing the door of a refrigerator or new car. And turning the key in the lock made me think: secure! But the installer noticed some minor flaws in the paint. I said I didn't mind, but he sent a painter to add another coat. Free! Why am I writing this now? The shed is still like new, after about four years. But I lost a key. Lowe's said they couldn't replace it, so I called Tuff Shed in Milpitas. Shazam! Not a problem! The lady sent me two new keys, by mail, the next day. Free. Postage free. Free! read more

I talked with several major stores and considered multiple brands. What convinced me to get a TuffShed is their strong construction with galvanized metal base, all 2x4 structure and the solid double metal-wood doors. I have purchased a 10x12 TuffShed through Home Depot and now that the shed is installed in my yard I am very happy I did it. The ordering process was very easy. Debra Minnis and Susan Crisologo were extremely helpful. They came to my property to inspect the place where I wanted to install the shed and made sure it will work well. They gave me very valuable advises on what features to select. I ended-up upgrading from a TR700 to a TR800 with taller roof and two lofts, one on each side. This was a great choice since it gives you substantial additional storage volume in the shed's "attic" The installation crew was professional and very expedient. They came on time and left a clean job site. It took them about 4 hours to have it all installed. It looks beautiful. I am a very happy customer. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. TERRIBLE INSTALL!! Be very carefull with this company! They will do a terrjble unsafe job installing something beyond the expectations of the contract and charge you to fix it properly. They will leave an UNUSABLE structure there for weeks and will NOT follow up with you. They are extremely hard to reach and basically have opted to ignore their mistake and hope it goes away. They were meant to level 5-8 inches in my yard....which apparently means "put on concrete blocks." Fine thats great. They put the structure on 22in blocks!! Its unsafe and unusable at that height. It was complete before I was notified and THEN the installer said "hey you should pour some footers" Their solution? Add more blocks, and if it must be moved I have to PAY FOR IT! Pay for it to be moved, partially demoed and rebuilt. Yup. They screwed up and I have to pay for them to fix. Avoid at all cost!!! read more

I only downgraded this company by one star because the shed itself seems fine and the workers who installed it were great. The company is out of Denver and we had dealings with the national rep and then the San Jose showroom and buyer beware. The shed that we paid for pre-painting arrived with the wrong color and they refused to admit it, although the yellowish color (supposed to be brown) resembled a color we didn't choose and isn't the one in our contract. My husband drove 1 1/2 hours each way to their closest showroom in San Jose and even pointed to a sample of siding with the color we wanted. They finally agreed to repaint. Sent a painter out who wanted to be sure we wanted the color with the pinkish tinge. Completely wrong again and they will not credit back our $450 charged for painting so we can hire our own painters. We have a report filed on BBB and see that there were 330 complaints in 2022 and many because of paint colors being wrong. Also, made us pay $150 for each of two walls two days before installing, claiming they needed to cut two walls in half to fit through our gate, in spite of us sending measurements, photos and statements from our contractor that there was plenty of room to move the walls in. read more

I ordered through Home Depot and it was fulfilled by Tuff Shed in Milpitas. I read all the negative reviews, but decided to go for it anyways. Pros: - The shed is top notch. Excellent quality. I couldn't be more pleased. - Installers were awesome. - Sales/Support rep also very helpful. Cons: - Had to wait almost 2 months. Purchased on Nov. 7, the install date was Dec. 28 - Door was missing due to a mix-up. But they resolved the issue after a week. For me, the quality of the product outweighed the inconveniences. The folks handling the order tried their best, but there are definitely internal communication issues. Some people would be mad, but, I still recommend them. The shed is truly awesome! As long you reset your expectations and have the patience/time for delays. read more

We have purchased two sheds and they are great as were the installation crews. The reason for one star is that our second shed is missing all of the vents and there is an issue with the stain. I have been calling and emailing customer service and the sales guy since 11/21 (install date) and there is barely a response and the issues have not been corrected. Our sales rep lacked the appropriate product knowledge and insight regarding the planning and specs of our shed. Upon arrival, the contractor building our shed explained the third overhead sun light(which we already ordered and purchased) would not work based on the specs of our shed. 2. Our sales rep allowed us to move forward with a design in which the workbench was the same level as the side windows. In other words, the top of the work bench butted up against the middle of the side window, not below it! We figured, based on the height of the workbench, the windows would automatically be installed above the plane of the workbench?! Wrong! On site, we had to modify our original plan. Wrote a review about my Tuff Shed experience on 4/2/2022, and it was deleted. This is my point about this particular store. I had a horrible purchase experience, and once the company had all my money they refuse to answer. They have blocked my e-mails, do not answer phone calls, and deleted my negative review. It's GONE! The contract was for 50% down, 40% upon installation, and 10% upon completion. When they came to do my install the issue was not that the surface was not level, but there were gaps around the base. Tuff shed could not help me, find resources, and said when you figure it out you call us. They badgered me for a $350 rescheduling fee within hours. Then again on Monday. They took all my money up front without installing anything? When I solved the problem myself, rescheduling was a nightmare. This person Emily Tanaco can take your money, send you e-signatures, but cannot reschedule an appointment. She said send pictures, the base hasn't been touched. I sent pictures. She didn't look at them, but has plenty of time to badger me for more money! By the time I got my shed installed it was four weeks of talking to morons who could not understand my base was level! After my shed was installed, Tuff Shed blocked my e-mails, they got bounced back, don't answer their phone even if I had a problem. Do not get involved with this store! I thought going directly to Tuff Shed would be better than HD or others. The ordering process took 3 months. Fax machines didn't work, phone numbers were wrong- and no historical conversations were ever recorded "we're moving our offices to Milpitas" was the common excuse. Finally got the paper process taken care of and they were going to install!! We were very excited. Then the installers showed up. General rule of thumb- don't smoke a cigarette when you ring the door bell. Then when you see the spot where the shed goes, (bottom of steep hill) don't say to the customer "That's fucking crazy- no fucking way- we're gonna need more people for this." As the customer, I don't care. I just paid over $2K for a shed. 7 hours later, 30 cigarette buds on my property and a loud cry of "it's time to get the fuck out of dodge- Sir your shed's built" and it was over. Not to mention, we got approval to use my neighbors yard as staging ground (to make the assembly easier) and the guys didn't put the chain link fence back--- even after I was promised "Sir, we'll put the fence back, this is the only way we can get the shed in your spot." The company called me to ask me about the shed--- Me? "Shed is great!" RE: Installers: "truck driving, chain-smoking, foul mouth, inappropriate/disrespectful employees. I got a garage from TuffShed. The quality seems good and the install crew was fast and efficient, but our salesperson was completely non-responsive. I often didn't get a reply to my calls and emails. TuffShed finished most of the garage about a month ago, but still haven't installed the garage door. I haven't even gotten a definite date when they're going to install it, although I'm supposed to get an install date "this week". So far it's been about 5 months from when I started my order and it's still not finished. With more responsive customer service it should have taken 2-3 months, not 5. UPDATE 2013-10-07: It has now been 2 months since our garage was installed and they still haven't installed the garage door. I still haven't gotten an install date for the garage door. Be sure a review your quote with a fine tooth comb. They remove items and when you think the price went down due to discounting, you eventually discover the real issue. The install guys were FANTASTIC. This was the best part of the experince. The sales cycle makes you never want to work with them again. Search other vendors for a competitive bid. He was very attentive and listened to the issue that we had with the build of our shed and the communication issue that we had with this office. He came up with a few options and allowed us to choose which option would work for us! We are now satisfied customers! The overall build of the shed was good. I am in Southern California, very satisfied on the whole process from working with Tuff sales person to job completion. Two installers arrived 10 mins before appointment time. All material and tools are well prepared. I watched from start to finish, very professional installation, a 6' x 10' shed completed in a little bit more than 2 hours. My shed was built on a slop with around 10 degree and needed leveling, I leave one star open to see how well the wedge leveling is in a few more months. read more

Everything went smoothly with Tuff Shed until the day of installation, which was scheduled Monday 9/7. I had received multiple e-mails and a text confirming the date and asking me to confirm I would be home, which I did. I waited for the install crew to call that day but no one ever did. I left messages at Tuff Shed with no return call from them. I had to do all the calling as no one ever reached out to me to let me know it would not be installed on 9/7. I finally got someone on the line yesterday who told me they could install today. The only communication I've received this morning is an e-mail titled "Expiration Pending: Installation Packet". This is the document I need to sign once the shed has been installed. How can this be expiring when the install hasn't happened. I'd like someone from Tuff Shed to call me and discuss this issue but none of my e-mails or calls to voicemail have been returned. read more
