This is a Mexican market, meat counter, and Deli. They have various vegetables, canned goods, fresh baked goods, and a rather impressive meat counter. They also serve hot tamales, tacos, beans, and more at the deli counter. While you can get ready to eat food there it's more of a market than anything else. I've been coming here for a year now and never had a bad experience. GOOD 1: They have most of the basics for anything authentic Mexican you might need at very reasonable prices. This is a neighborhood market for the local Hispanic community. GOOD 2: They open nice and early like a regular grocery store. I believe they open at 6am. GOOD 3: They have an impressive meat counter with ample selections of beef, chicken, and more. They also have a great selection of Mexican style cheeses too. GOOD 4: They make their own corn tortillas on site. They have some amazing equipment all in plain sight and it's super fresh. BAD 1: They don't carry flour tortillas above 10". If you're looking for large burrito tortillas you'll have to settle for 10" tortillas or make other arrangements. BAD 2: It can be hard at times to ask detailed questions if you don't speak Spanish. Several employees there speak conversational English well enough to ask for things or complete a purchase without issues... but if you have complicated questions it might be a problem. All in all this place is really nice. I'm not Hispanic, yet I stop in here at least once a week for something. I really like their chicken tamales. They're cheap and taste amazing. If you're looking for ingredients for some home Mexican cooking this place will have most of what you need. I readily suggest Tula to everyone. read more

Well it's a mixed bag for this review. They make the biggest and best chili relleno I've ever eaten. However the frozen and defrosted shrimp they sell is the worst I have ever bought . Delicious salsa and Mexican food to go. I highly recommend using this place when you're throwing a party and need a quick bunch of food to impress. The food is great, and Tula makes it easy to order and pick up. The only reason I've taken off a star is that I always get stink-eye when I come in. I've always come here with my dad during the day but this was my first time going to this store at night for tacos and the experience was TERRIBLE. First when we walked in it was around 8:40pm and the old woman at the taco counter was working on tacos and when we approached she didn't even greet or acknowledged us. A simple "I'll be right with you after this order" would've been enough to let us know that they we open. She didn't make eye contact and when I said "excuse me" she completely ignored me. After I tried getting her attention again which she rudely replied "I'll help you when I'm done". How was I supposed to know she knew we were waiting when she didn't acknowledge or even make eye contact? Another lady approached and helped us out with our order. After we came back from buying something else from next door we approached the same rude old woman and asked if our order was ready. All she did was just stare at us and didn't even say anything. The other lady behind her seconds later pointed out our order was on the right counter. When I went to pay for our order the old lady at the register pointed out that Apple Pay after my husband wanted to pay with Apple Pay. After she asked if we had a physical card instead which I then pulled out my card but when I tried putting it in she rudely said "it's not working go to the other one" like ok? Then why the hell did you ask if we could pay with a physical card instead? To top off this horrible experience, the taco my husband was eating had a long hair which he had pulled out from his mouth. I'm disgusted with how we were treated and the hair in the taco. I honestly would've walked out after the rude old woman ignored my husband but I was so hungry and I'm pregnant so I just tried to pretend everything was ok. read more

Its strictly what I go here for.. although if i lived in the area I'd probably come for their produce or home (in market) made tortillas. I get: A bean (made in store) and cheese burrito (queso fresca) with rice (mexican rice with carrot and peas - very yummy) guacamole (its real - no filler) cilantro and onion. Now I understand, bean and cheese burrito, not too exciting - UNLESS it's literally one of the best you have ever had!!! Its so good. Perfect vegetarian meal. They serve meat of course as well... they are sort of like a meat/ produce market. Only draw back, when you get guac it turns a 4.99 burrito into a $6 burrito, but totally worth it. My review is for the take-out food portion of the market: I ordered a barbacoa burrito and it was alright but left something to be desired. They give you a lot of meat but that was all I tasted. It was pretty one dimensional even with the two salsas (green and red) they give you. The green salsa was blah and the red salsa was ok but desperately needed vinegar or lime juice. To me authentic isn't always better and for like $7.50 I was expecting something more memorable. There's a million places to get a burrito in Orange County. After trying their food my wife and I decided use their place for a catering order for our 15 yr wedding anniversary. We ordered rice, beans, Carne asada, chicken, chips and guac. I cannot believe that I have not rated Tula before now. Best corner market I have ever visited. The takeout counter is always busy. One visit and you will understand. I usually do a Pro-Con list, but since there are no Cons, here are some tips: 1.Order a tray of freshly cooked tortilla chips. They will still be warm when you get them home. 2. Mexican Creme is magic. Buy it at the meat counter and try it everywhere you use cream or sour cream. 3. The chicken breasts are fresher and firmer than anywhere else. 4. Check out the vegetables. Best location for fresh fruit and good prices

i was craving for some mexican sweet bread (pan dulce) and decided to check this place out. the pan dulce here is pretty cheap, 60 cent each. the bread is quite dry and definitely not the best one. they also sell burrito, rice, tacos, enchiladas, various type of uncooked meats, and basic mexican spices. everything is priced reasonably here. this market is quite small and get very crowded during lunch hours. so be prepared to wait sometime for your food if you come during this rush hours. the last time i came here, the credit card machine did not work. so it was cash only. be prepared to have cash with you in case the machine broke again. read more

So I went to buy some carnitas yesterday, when I got home and open the food, oh surprise it wasn't carnitas. I live far from the store I go buy there because is on my way back home from work. I called the store letting them know that my order wasn't correct she told me I can go back and get the right food, so we agreed to i will pass buy today, she the manager told to a employee to help me with the food so I approach to the side she was serving my food, I asked her to add a little more of cueritos and she reply it will pass the weight i bought so I yold her to take out some meat in order to she can put some more cueritos, she seems upset about it. Then She told me: "ok aqui esta su comida"so I ask her for salsa and onions cilantro so she reply by saying: " que no te dieron ayer??!!" So yes I told her I got some yesterday but at least the onions and cilantro will not be good today si she started to put sone on the bags for me but she was upset. This is not good at all I understand we make mistakes and I could get my order wrong but what I really don't like is the bad customer service I get today when I went to get my order right. read more

I also buy the home made tortillas (inexpensive and warm in the bag, plus you can watch them make them) and they are fantastic. I use them for home catering and when in a rush, I buy a pound of carnitas, a pound of carne and they throw in onions, cilantro, hot sauce and limes when you buy a pound of their meat. They sell wonderful, freshly made guacamole, spicy carrots, multiple other meats and great rice and beans. And, its a great place to grab lunch as they make it right there in front of you. Came in for the first time to get meat and stood there waiting someone would help me and hoping they know English because my Spanish sucks. Anyways I stood there not being helped. Someone can after me and they helped her.. not being a racist but she did speak Spanish.
