The owner kept emailing me over and over again, even when I didn't respond. She made fun of a previous customer for dying of cancer.

If you like being called a "little bitch" by your server/manager or made fun of for dying of cancer by the owner, then this restaurant is great! However, if you like being treated like a decent human being, then I highly suggest you stay far far away. Let me explain... First of all, their name is Tulip Cafe & Creperie. When we went, there was not a single crepe to be found on the menu. We asked if there was a breakfast menu and the waiter just said "no" as if we were annoying him by asking and walked away. Then he returned with warm tap water. My friend ordered the lamb kabob for $26. For that price in a dumpy little town restaurant, you'd think you'd get more than 4 small pieces of lamb. But the serving was pretty pathetic. We politely asked the server if the order was correct because it was so small. He rudely said "That's what you ordered. Now eat it." He dismissed any attempt at trying to reconcile the situation responding to all our questions with a similarly dismissive answer before storming away. We called the manager over, expecting that he may have been better trained in customer service. Instead, he called my friend a "little bitch" and said he was "throwing a temper tantrum" when my friend just calmly asked a question. The manager then snatched the plate off the table, stacked a filthy, used plate on top of my friend's uneaten food and screamed in his face "You lost your chance to eat this. And you WILL pay for it." A few minutes later I gave him a chance to apologize and he said "if you act like a little bitch, I'm gonna call you a little bitch." Crunched for time before a flight, my friend was left to beg for his food back and eat the contaminated meal. And it wasn't even good. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I kindly emailed the owners to alert them of this unacceptable behavior from their staff. Not only was the behavior extremely uncalled for, but stacking a dirty dish on top of an uneaten meal violates health codes, especially during a global pandemic. I sent the email to do them a favor, expecting nothing in return. However, the response I received from the owner was incredibly shocking. You can read my polite, objective email below, as well as the 6 responses she sent me. There were more, and she's still emailing me. In fact, as I write this sentence I just got another email. There have been more than 10 total. I think I responded to like 2 of them, but they just keep coming. In one of them, she made fun of a customer because he complained about her fries and then recently died of cancer. She's probably going to respond to this review with something nasty too like she's done to other reviews. I'd expect nothing less of her at this point. So if you've read this far and still want to eat here... good luck. Don't get the lamb kabob.

Oh goodness, what I wouldn't give to have another bite of one delicious french toast breakfast with Vermont cheese and maple syrup! Yum! I think I ordered this because it mentioned "Vermont" twice, lol, so it seemed like it would be quite "local". I don't know that I'd ever thought of having French toast with cheese before, but it was amazing! I reluctantly shared one bite with my boyfriend, but fortunately he was really enjoying his salmon crepe, so he was good to stop at one bite :). Our server was very gracious and informative about the area as well! Can't wait to visit this place and this town again!

This was our first choice for lunch, but looking at the menu outside, no sign of any crepes at all, so we did not go in.

Far and away the best takeout crabcakes in VT. Not saying they're Maryland crabcakes, but still rather tasty stop a salad.

It's an unassuming building but they've made it very cute! They have painted the brick around the bottom to look like stone as well as a continuation of the awning painted around the top. The inside is just as interesting. There is a huge wooden map of the world on the wall, a piano, and the lights over some of the tables are made from teapots. There is a large bar in the middle and plenty of seating. This place is larger than it appeared from the outside. The menu offered several types of teas- white, green, herbal, black with several different flavors within each type of tea. I chose a tropical white tea. It came out nice and hot with a packet of honey. My friend ordered a sweet crepe with mixed fruit. She loved it! I decided to try their unique offering of 6 mixed pancakes. It included 4 savory pancakes (beet, zucchini, squash, potato) and two sweet pancakes (Oladi, farm cheese). One of the sweet pancakes was fluffy but dry and flavorless. I think it was the Oladi. All of the other pancakes were excellent and the service was flawless. What a cute place with great food and service! I'll definitely be back!

We had their Columbian air roasted coffee, which was so creamy and light. They have a never ending selection of tea. Their home made bagel is better than most. The hash browns are crispy, a little on the greasy side but exploding with flavor! Oatmeal was very good with freshly diced apples to order. Our waitress Monica was beyond welcoming and knowledgeable. She made us feel at home. The low dinning table with low seated sofas made us feel very cozy. It's not very often you can cuddle up and enjoy a meal as if you were at home. The Eastern European food and ambience is as authentic as it gets. All I can say is... I'll be back

To order in person walk to the right and then turn left (a u-turn if you will) to get in line. Menus are posted on the walls to easily see as you wait in line. A variety of baked goods are available in a display case by the cashier. We ordered a raspberry lavender latte, a beverage from the cooler and two crepes. When we were walking away with our table number in hand I heard the cashier tell the barista I ordered a maple latte. I corrected her, I ordered the lavender. I received a Mocha. How did a raspberry lavender become chocolate? No idea how that went so wrong. A metal stand is on each table. Insert your table number and place it where staff can see. The indoor dining area has high ceilings, a big window wall at one end and is quite loud with sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces. Tables are set up from couples to a group configurations. In the back corner are two love seats and a coffee table. My egg and cheese crepe was extremely filling. Lots and lots of cheese in there. It kept me full all day in a 'I need a nap' kind of way. The cheese was the primary flavor in this dish. My dining companion had a stomach issue after eating a spicy reuben. It wasn't actually spicy at all so not sure what caused the stomach upset. The concept is fun. Put a sandwich into a crepe. The crepe doesn't add flavor to the dish and it's a knife and fork meal vs. a handheld. Add in both of our less than optimal reactions to the dish and wrong coffee delivery and we personally won't add this to our 'try again' list. They do have plenty of other items to try, and I do appreciate local businesses so I'm not saying it won't work for you. This was just my experience. Free on street parking. Restrooms down the hall near the back door where you'll also find a water fountain.

We arrived right when they opened at 10 a.m. and were seated immediately, which was great. We initially considered sitting inside, but the smell of eggs was so overwhelming/nauseating that we opted for outdoor seating instead. The patio was charming and cozy. The service was friendly, attentive, and one of the highlights of our visit. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. We all ordered the brunch tower, which included a "fruit salad" that consisted of squishy grapes, sour Granny Smith apple chunks, and canned mandarin oranges. The fruit tasted low quality and unappetizing, and I only managed a few bites. I also ordered the bananas foster crepe, which was severely overcooked. The crepe was so tough that I needed a knife to cut through it, and the texture was far from what I would expect from a crepe. Overall, while the service was pleasant and seating was prompt, the food quality left a lot to be desired, especially considering the price point.

They have a wide variety of food so there is something for everyone and the prices are very reasonable. We picked up an eclair on the way out, which was also filled with pure pastry cream (a rarity!!). This will become a regular place for us when we're in the area. The only thing to note is that they don't have a large staff; when we were there there was one person working FOH and one in the kitchen.
