Very different from the normal "Mexican" cookie cutter restaurants that are all too similar. Drinks are great. Bottomless mimosas on the weekends. Chips homemade. Bone Marrow! Lobster Enchiladas! The food here was excellent you get a taste of every part of Mexico my waiter Leonardo was very helpful. Let us know that it was a soft opening and that they're going to put the menu on Yelp so when people go and look for good Mexican food. This is a place to come, the ambience there was great. We always have passed by and always said we will go and check it out. Well yesterday was the day we did! Last minute we checked and they had reservations for 8 pm. We got there and were seated right away. Pedro was our server and he went above and beyond! Made sure we enjoyed our food and drinks and despite being one of the last guest we did not feel rushed! The food was delicious! We had the potato taquitos, emboladas, and the mar y tierra fajita along with a Tulum margarita flights. The food was presented very nicely and had great flavor! We visited Tulum during its soft opening and had a mixed experience. Starting with the positives, the drinks were fantastic! I had the strawberry margarita, and my fiancé got the raspberry margarita. Both were refreshing, well-balanced, and highly recommendable. However, the food left us with mixed feelings. As a Mexican who has tried many ceviches, I was excited to try theirs. While the flavor was good, the octopus chunks were extremely chewy and larger than ideal. One piece even felt grainy, as if it hadn't been washed properly. My fiancé had two tacos--chorizo and carnitas. The chorizo had great flavor, but I'd suggest smaller tortillas for the double-layer style. The carnitas were also flavorful but served in chunks that were a bit too large for tacos. Now, about the beans--are they meant to be frijoles puercos or borrachos? The addition of hot dog slices (wienies) was unexpected and didn't quite work. On the other hand, the rice was good but could benefit from some adjustments. I respect the effort that goes into opening a new restaurant, and Tulum shows promise. I would return to try more of the menu and support their growth. This place is a hidden gem! Some friends of ours went here for a birthday party last weekend and highly recommended that we try it. So this evening, my family and I went to Tulum for dinner and we were not disappointed. In fact, we were totally surprised with how awesome the experience was! First off, the ambiance is very cool, simple but posh. The staff were all amazing! Everyone from the host that sat us down, to the bus boys who cleared our plates were so friendly. But our server, Lauren, was AWESOME! She was super friendly and witty and made some great recommendations. And the food was fantastic !!! Lobster enchiladas skirt steak and margaritas !!! But what was most impressive was the price. We have easily spent double at other restaurants for a mediocre meal but Tulum delivered an amazing experience for half the cost. Service was great, the atmosphere is about all it could be without tearing down a 60 plus year old diner's foot print. The salsa was fantastic. I sent an item back as it wasn't executed well, they took it and the replacement off the bill despite my objection. Great new spot we just recently found. The food was delicious and had great plating. Everything served had care and purpose. Our server was very helpful and patient since we had a lot of questions on the menu. The margarita flight was tasty (wasn't a huge fan of the spicy raspberry flavor), but a little sweet. This place is new and very nice, but my issue is when places like this try and position themselves as a cocktail bar, when they only have a beer and wine license. It should be illegal to sell drinks disguised as cocktails when they are made with Soju, or whatever rice wine substitute they are using. It's very misleading. read more

The service here was terrible. Had to ask for my drink 3 times and even then it was the wrong drink. Forget about asking for a refill. Saw the chef more times than the server. Had to ask for beans and rice that came with my entree. Another person in my party asked about the hominy in the menudo and the menudo didn't have any after saying it did. Reviews looked promising, but the service killed it for us. Food was okay, didn't taste authentic compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Birria was too salty and the tortillas that the menu claimed were "handmade", looked store bought. Drinks are well made and taste good. Ambiance had a good vibe and comfortable seating. read more

My friend and I came here for lunch today. The restaurant was empty. The food was expensive and not a big selection as a typical Mexican restaurant. That should've been a sign to get up and leave but we were starving. The waiter was very nice but he was so slow. Took forever to take our order. I didn't understand why because there was nobody there. The food was ok. I ordered the birria plate. It was literally a bowl of meat and tortillas that cost $22. My husband ordered the Tacos gobernador and same result delicious 10/10. *** Drinks- top notch on their margaritas we tried almost all of them. Strawberry, pineapple, and blackberry. My favorite was blackberry I'm that type of girl that less sweet is better yet honestly the taste on all are to die for. Dessert- cheesecake top with a home made blackberry jelly. I honestly don't like cheesecake because I know the making of it is with lots of egg. When I try a dessert and at the end I can taste the egg I will likely not have anymore. This cheesecake was perfect on the sugar and definitely no egg taste at the end. *** Customer service- I leave this one for last because to me service is the foundation to great success in any business. From the minute we walked in Rafael the owner was warm and welcoming then we were introduced to the other owner Roberto which he had the same welcoming vibe. Angie was also warm and friendly made us feel at home. Our waiter please accept my apology don't remember his name yet I gotta say he made us really feel we were his top priority in everything. He asked over and over how did we like our drinks and if there was something he could do to improve. Honestly the entire teams culture is over delivering in service value with humility and kindness. I'll start by saying the ambiance was great. Beautiful restaurant with great customer service!!! I was a bit disappointed that they had a limited menu for Valentine's Day. I had been looking forward to dinner knowing already what I wanted to order just to find out they didn't have it for that night. Drinks- I ordered a mango mojito but I'm sad to say it was not good at all. Whatever alcohol they used tasted like medicine. I tried to still drink it but I couldn't after 3 sips of it. Waitress was nice enough to take it off my bill. I decided not to order another drink because most of it was tequila which is not my favorite. Bartender came out apologized for the drink and offered me another one on the house. I thought that was really nice. I believe it was a margarita.... it was ok. Food- was good overall. If you like SPICY order the camarones a la diabla. They were spicy to the point I couldn't really enjoy them, and I like spicy food. We also ordered aguachile which was delicious just make sure you ask for tostadas because apparently they don't come with the dish. Which is weird because that's how you eat aguachile.
