I stumbled upon Tumble 22 Chicken Joint literally! I just happened to be in the area and saw it. My coworker here in Austin recommended it so I decided to try it out. A great patio seating area with long tables and shade covering. The inside is modern with a good looking full bar with cocktails, etc. Two tvs with professional sports playing. The front area has a display case of their pies and cheesecake. House music mostly from the 80s. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. The host was friendly and guided me to my shared table, which was fine with me as the place was crowded and the open tables were for 4 or more people. Dafne took great care of me. She suggested some popular items and also some of hers. She was friendly, outgoing, and had a sparkling personality. O.G. Chicken Sandwich: their signature features an all-natural chicken breast, crisp coleslaw, bread-n-butter pickles, and Duke's mayo on a toasted bun. Select your heat level (4/5). The chicken was brined well and juicy. The coating was nice and crunchy. The coleslaw and pickles cuts the spiciness. Seve's Collard Greens: Rich and savory collard greens cooked low and slow featuring smoked turkey, apple cider vinegar, and Crystal's Louisiana Hot Sauce. Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Pie: a decadent dessert that combines the rich, creamy texture of mousse with the comforting flavor of peanut butter, all nestled within a buttery, crumbly crust. Service is on the slower side. My fries came out cold. The 1/2 chicken skin was way too salty. Portion for lil OG sandwich was ok. Probably won't be back :(
Hot chicken isnt my favorite thing but I wanted to give this popular place a try! First of all, i liked the environment, it was clean and comfortable. Our server was attentive and gave really fast service. I got the "og" sandwich with hot spice level and it was perfect for me. The sandwich was bigger than I expected! The one thing that is really memorable for me is how creamy and buttery and sandwich buns were , it went really well with the fried chicken!
Typically great service when I've come to this location. The service was a bit lacking this visit. The options for food always great. My half Cobb was the perfect amount as usual. The boneless thighs made my husband giddy. They took a lot less time than the bone in that he gets at our location. The feel is a simple restaurant that focuses what they are good at. It is usually clean for our visits and I feel was safe to bring out of town guests. I knew it would have something for everyone. The buttermilk pie was even Southern girl approved.
My husband and I love love love Tumble 22! If you're looking for the best fried chicken in town, Tumble 22 is it--hands down. I always order the dark chicken with a side of fries and their insanely good broccoli salad. That salad alone is worth the trip--I could honestly eat it as a full meal. My husband always gets the OG sandwich with fries, and it never misses. Everything is crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection every time. Also love their key lime pie and heavenly eggs as an appetizer! Beyond the food, the atmosphere at this location is awesome. The back deck has super strong fans that keep things cool and bug-free even in Texas heat. We sat outside and were totally comfortable. Also, shoutout to our waiter he was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed.
For the price, Tumble 22 perfected their craft. Flavors are all on point. The broccoli salad is a bit sweet with the chunks of dried fruit which I enjoyed because it cut the fatty/oily flavors in the rest of the meal. The mac and cheese was amazing, gooey and the pasta shells had a bite to it! The chicken was flavorful, light crispy crunch. Highly recommend!
I am a big fan of Tumble 22 but this was my first time eating at this location and I hate to say it, but this location is not up to par with the other Tumble 22's in the area. Me and my boyfriend were both thrown off with our sandwich and the dirty fries. We barely had any chicken on our fries and the slaw on the sandwich was really throwing us off. I couldn't figure out what was different about it but it was not nearly as good as it is at other locations. All of that aside, the service was still good and I hope we just came on an off day.
The plus of Tumble 22 is the large portions of chicken. Korean style chicken is more about the sauce, rather than the crispy double-fry that I usually expect from Korean-fried chicken. The Cole slaw was decent as a side, but I thought the sides were got (I.e. collard greens) were only mid for me. After a little while, the meal feels a little one-note and you want something different. Fries are a good way to start off the meal. If you get the fries with the chicken, I wouldn't choose the Korean style chicken to change up the flavor profile. They tasted too similar to me.
My husband and I decided to try Tumble 22 Chicken as we were in the area. We pulled up, parked, and went inside. Upon entering there was a sign that said seat yourself. So we sat in a booth. The restaurant has a lot of windows so on a sunny day it's probably pretty well lit. It was cloudy during our visit so the restaurant felt a little dark but it was lit up a little bit with the lights. The restaurant has a lot of seating with long tables and high stools, it has a bar area, and a few booths. We sat at a booth. After sitting we waited a few minutes before we were greeted by our waiter who checked to see what we wanted to drink. After asking for water he quickly left and returned with the water promptly. He asked if we were ready to order but I hadn't had a chance to look at the menu. They had a QR code that you could use to look at the menu, or you could look it up online. The waiter also offered a physical copy to me if I wanted it. I used my phone to see what I wanted. He left to give me time. I decided pretty quick but we had to wait as he was busy taking care of other customers. I decided to order a small order of Dirty Fries which is fries, with queso, hot chicken, and pickles. I also ordered OG Chicken Sandwich with no heat or painless and it comes with a fried chicken breast, coleslaw, pickles, and mayo. The Dirty Fries were good. I forgot to tell the waiter no spice or painless and the chicken was spicy. I tasted the kick right away but then I got used to it. The fries were soggy from all of the ingredients but they were good mixed in with everything. The queso on the fries was okay. The OG Chicken Sandwich was tasty. The chicken was a good size, it was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The mix of the chicken with the coleslaw, pickles, and mayo gave the sandwich texture and flavor. My husband and I decided to take a piece of pie for a sweet to eat at home. He ordered the Buttermilk Pie to go. We got our pie quickly and then we were on our way. Unfortunately when we got home I was surprised to see a slice of pecan pie instead of the buttermilk pie. I was a little disappointed at first as I was really wanting the buttermilk pie but the pecan pie did not disappoint. It was delicious and sweet. Overall it was a good stopping places to eat. The restaurant was clean with different seating options, the service was okay, and the food was good. I'd return in the future.
Tumble 22 is a tried and true hot chicken joint! They do it right and the spice is real. I usually get the Mo Hot and the Dang Hot heat level depending on how I'm feeling that day lol. The tenders are pretty big, so 2 works perfectly for me. You must get the dirty mac- soo delicious and flavorful with lots of fun textures. It is usually really easy to get seated- sometimes it's full inside but the outdoor patio has fans so it's not too bad even in the warmer months.
Came In for early dinner, 6pm on a Friday. We beat the rush because it got packed after we finished eating. Plenty of seating and parking. We got the 1/2 crispy, spice level mo' hot. Which isn't spicy, but it does make your lips tingle. The bread and butter pickles are to die for. Get extra if you're a pickle person. The Mac and cheese and collards were also very good. 10/10 recommend!
Came here on St Patrick day big mistake.. Let me explain. I sat myself at the bar, no greeting or acknowledgement, after 10 minutes I FINALLY ASK THE BARTENDER if I needed to move to get service and only then, did I get service. 1. I ordered a Big Larry, their popular drink. It's suppose to be frozen but instead I got a sightly frozen margaritas, it was pretty much non frozen as you can see in the picture. The excuse that given was because it was St Patrick day and they has a special $3.17 for St Patty day. I should have left then but I stayed.. I ordered the 1/4 chicken & Deviled Eggs and my sides were Mac & cheese and Greens. The food temperature was mid and the food quality was bad, my thigh was mostly grease and breading barely any chicken. Just last week I visited the Round Rock location and it was a Night and day difference. More friendly and personable and the food quality and drinks were top level. The ambiance in Round Rock is more modern and up to date.. This was my second bad experience at this location in the past 2. years. Needless to say I will not visit this location again. I will drive out of my way to go Round Rock or to another establishment. Wasted money and time. Never again Tumble 22 Burnet rd.
I saw this place a few weeks ago while in Austin and couldn't wait to get back and try it. The experience did not disappoint. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and thorough. The restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I had the Korean chicken OG sandwich which was juicy, flavorful, and crunchy. The slaw had an especially unique and tasty flavor. My wife had the jumbo tenders with collard greens. The tenders and hot honey sauce weee excellent, but the greens were the star of the show. Perfectly seasoned without being overly salty. We got the chocolate pecan toffee pie to go and can't wait to get home and try it. We will definitely return
My first time coming to Tumble 22 was a great experience! I had heard great things about Tumble 22 and finally made my way out to try it for a Friday lunch. We ended up going at a later lunch time at like 3pm so there was plenty of parking in the lot out front and not many patrons inside. We sat ourselves and the server was quick to be very attentive with waters and fielding any questions. I ended up getting The Southern chicken sandwich with a Mo-Hot spice level. The chicken was fried to perfection and super tasty. The spice was pretty mild and wasn't too spicy at all but added a nice kick. The fries were also top notch so the food was a solid 10/10. Very crispy and tender. If I ever have another fried chicken craving, Tumble 22 will be my go to spot for some quality food and atmosphere. If the point is fried chicken, Tumble 22 gets the point. Online ordering is easy and efficient. I was a bit surprised that my simple order wasn't ready early (fried chicken + 2 sides), but it was put into my hands at the exact moment the app said my food would be ready. There was bacon in the BBQ beans (another surprise, because I didn't see another menu item featuring bacon, but perhaps I wasn't looking carefully enough). The Brussels sprouts salad wasn't to my taste, but it's important to try new things. The chicken?? WOW! The flavor, the crispiness (a new word?), the sheer perfection is totally worth whatever waiting and trouble you might confront. Service: When you arrive you will see a sign to seat yourself. At the table you will scan a QR code to look at the menu and then you'll order with the waiter/waitress. Our waitress was nice and checked in on us several times. Food: I ordered the all American chicken sandwich with a side of fries. I ordered the spicy (which is one above the mild) and it was spicier than expected. The sandwich was ok. Chicken was juicy but lacked something. The fries can use some work. They were pretty basic fries out of a bag. Overall: It was a nice experience, but it's not a restaurant that will come to mind whenever I'm in search for something to eat. Tumble 22 Chicken is pretty damn good. Being that I am a Southern food EXPERT it is often hard to accept any place that has really good fried chicken. So I can say that the chicken itself is pretty good. My wife and youngest daughter both love to go for comparisons. We dropped in and the first thing you notice is how the ambiance is very sports bar forward...totally cool. There are booths and high-top tables along with a full bar and several TV's to view your sports game of choice. Now my ladies are not so much into the HOT experience so their orders were "Wimpy". My daughter ordered the strips and mac n cheese, while my wife ordered the "Lil O.G with collards. I decided to go with the "Half mixed Mo Hot" with Dirty fries and Collards. The chicken has a nice crunch and the chicken is not dry. The heat on the Mo Hot is enough for me...lol I might try to venture up to Dang Hot, but doubt I would ever go beyond that ...since I do like to taste the chicken. The sides - Well, this is where I am like...its okay...My daughters mac n cheese was decent...not dry, but still could've been more cheesy. The collards were good, but lacking a bit in the "Pot liquor" flavor (those that know about greens IYKYK). The dirty fries were meh, I think next time I will indeed be more focused on the chicken and family packs. T22 is a must-go spot here in Austin. The fried chicken is super yummy and crispy. I often interchange between ordering The Lil OG and the Chicken Bites. I don't even really like coleslaw, but there's something about the way T22 makes it that I actually enjoy eating it with my sandwich. I like to go for the Mo' Hot or Dang Hot depending on my mood, and I will say be careful with the spice level because it can really hit you. The Mac n Cheese is also super thick and delicious. I highly recommend getting it as a side. I also recommend the 60/40 if you're looking to drink a little ! I know mixing beer and a margarita doesn't sound like it'll taste good, but you'll be really surprised. Overall, T22 is a super enjoyable meal. read more

The chicken is good and that's why they have one of two stars, but this location drops the ball every time I visit. If you schedule curbside pickup, you will have to go inside. I have visited more than twice where I sat outside for over ten minutes waiting for my order to be brought out. When I go in to pick it up, my order is sitting on the counter. Don't bother texting; just go in. They will forget items that you order, so it's best to check before you leave rather than assuming it's correct because the bag is stapled shut. My fries have been forgotten twice and I have received 5 of 6 heavenly eggs. I was also gifted with a piece of thread on my food with a recent visit. I realized that I'd visited for the last time after I asked for condiments and I was told to be sure to include it in my order. Was I wrong for deciding after I ordered and paid that I needed more condiments? Was asking for more condiments unheard of? Good chicken, bad service. read more

Spacious outdoor seating, at least 12 tables socially distant that can fit 4 very comfortably and 6-8 easily for teens. Simple menu with QR code on the table. Wasn't feeling great so decided to just get wimpy level which is essentially non spicy. Man, I did not expect the tenders to be that big. Ordered the 9 piece and between two adults only finished 5 pieces. Comes with salad dressing flavor sauces on the side: thousand island, Caesar, and ranch. Ok. This review is completely on the lack and rudeness of employees. I ordered dinner via Uber Eats, which was never delivered. Not only that, Uber Eats was "too busy" to discuss the non delivery. I wanted to let Tumble 22, which I love going to and always enjoy a great meal, just how UE treats their customers. I was not looking for a free meal-just to let them know about UE. I pressed #4 to speak to a customer service person. I tried to explain what happened and I got "not our problem" and hung up. I was shocked! I called back and got the same female and asked for the manager on duty. I got a "FU" and she hung up. I tried calling back 3 other times and they would pick up and hang up. Came in for a late lunch and there was no wait and plenty of seatings. Our server was very friendly and attentive. For the chicken, you can choose from 5 different spice levels with the first one being "wimpy" and next one is hot. This is one of my favorite spots for a quick meal around Austin. No fuss, no planning needed. Go there and enjoy a fantastic meal. They have a different sandwich of the month every month and it always delivers but their regular sandwiches are great too. I like spice but I'm no spice nut and get 'mo hot' which is the perfect level of heat for me. They have an outdoor area too Which is good this time of year. Service is a bit odd as you come there and just sit at a table and wait for someone to come to you. It works though and I have no complaints. read more

Tourist speaking. We had a great experience, were able to seat ourselves inside without wait. They have a lot of covered outdoor seating foe bigger parties as well. QR code menu, we got a lil OG sandwich with broccoli salad, and a 3-piece tender with collard greens. Chicken was crispy and juicy, no complaints. I was here in February to try their OG sandwich of the month Each month Tumble22 has a different OG and February's was flavorful and spicy but oh so good Tumble22 chicken is all freshly made to order and you can customize each order with level of spiciness. They have 6 levels to choose from: Wimpy Hot Mo' Hot Dang Hot!! Cluckin' Hot!!! Stupid Hot!!!! The Szechuan Kimchi OG is made with crispy hot chicken (+ your choice of heat level), sriracha honey, Szechuan sauce, kimchi, miso Mayo and topped with bread-n-butter pickles on a Martin's potato bun If this OG ever makes a comeback I'd order it again in a heartbeat Tumble22 also has a lot of local beers on draft and their delicious blood orange margarita on the rocks (salted rim please!) With so many fried chicken spots in town now, it's a very saturated niche of food. I will say, T22 has always been great chicken, but it's just that I prefer a different place. The chicken has great flavor and spice, and the pickles are awesome. I love re-(air)frying the bread to give it a better crunch. I also love their creamy macncheese (definitely get it dirty) and their potato salad. Everything is just really solid and you can't really go wrong. On this particular day, there was the 22% off deal, which made them super busy. I ordered online which gave me a time estimate, but when we got there, it seemed like they completely forgot about our order. We waited another 30 minutes, and one of the orders came without bread or pickles, which I personally really enjoy. Again, they were extremely busy so I get it, but don't give a time estimate if you're going to just double the amount of time we had to wait. read more

When I ate in person the fresh fries and chicken was perfect. They were crispy and I it was one of the best fries I've ever had. The chicken had a lot of different spice levels so there is something for everyone. The second time I went I ordered to go and the chicken was still amazing. The fries and mac and cheese were subpar but that was because it wasn't as fresh. Both times I went the service was really bad and they did not update us on anything. Great chicken for a reasonable price! Ordered 1/2 mixed (comes with four pieces, two sides, two pieces of bread) - total came out to ~$16 pre-tip. Left stuffed. Chicken was well-seasoned, appropriately spicy, and fresh out of the fryer. In my opinion, the three sides I tried were all just okay - among them, I'd say the mac was the best and the fries were the most disappointing. Coleslaw was average but still provided a nice balance to everything else. Bread is whatever, just your typical white slice. Casual atmosphere, plenty of seating both inside and outside. Went on a Saturday evening, it was busy but not crowded. No trouble finding parking. Waiter was new but friendly and attentive. Overall, I had a great experience and wouldn't hesitate to come back here someday! Probably nothing life-changing, but a hearty and satisfying meal nonetheless. read more

Austin has great fried chicken! If you're on the north side of Austin, this is the spot. South? Go to Lucy's. Downtown? Go to Gus's. I ordered the half mixed chicken with fries and Macaroni and cheese. I don't quite understand why the fries were +$1 extra, that seemed unusual. The Mac was also +$1 extra but I can see why... totally worth it, I should have just ordered double Mac! The Chicken was perfectly fried and accurately "spicy". I have a pretty high tolerance for heat, but I probably could've gone up one level of spicy (mo spicy). I've never had nashville chicken to my knowledge, so if this is the standard then I approve. I couldn't finish eating it all, half a chicken is a lot and the crispy perfectly greasy skin was filling. so I took the lone breast home for left overs the next day and chopped it up and tossed it in a salad. I will start off by saying this that place is packed! It took us a while to get seated, a while to order, a while to get our food. Our waitress seemed quite flustered with the amount of people. I came with a bunch of friends and as a vegetarian there's not much I can get but here goes. The coleslaw was quite lacking in flavor - tasted very bland. The fries too were very bland - not enough flavor, kind of felt like I was chewing cardboard. The pies were quite good however. I tried the apple and the chocolate pecan. The apple pie is not exceptional compared to your average pie, still good though. But the chocolate pecan, that's where the money is. It's very rich but so delicious. Stopped in for the last time before our move to Arizona, food was excellent as usual. My husband enjoyed the chicken thighs, perfectly crispy and juicy! I love everything on the menu, deviled eggs , dirty fries, and of course the specialty sandwiches ! WOW!! Also you gotta try the Chocolate mousse pie !! To die for. Food is so good here! I got the the second to highest spicy chicken and it was soooo good! Just beware because the first time I came it wasn't that spicy but the second time it was super on fire! Probably more of a 4.5 but no half stars on here unfortunately. The only thing holding them back is that their fries are basically Burger King fries. Otherwise, the chicken sandwich is fantastic. It's crispy, juicy, comes topped with coleslaw, and is pretty big actually. I'll probably try the smaller size next time since I left incredibly stuffed. Hopefully I can squeeze in for their happy hour to save a few bucks. The pecan pie (with the fresh whipped cream) is great too. I'll be back again soon! read more

2nd time being back and 5/5 for me. The chicken, like last time, was crispy on the outside and moist+juicy on the inside. I got the 2nd most spicy level and it was a solid level, I didn't tear up or anything but my nose was definitely running! Got the lil chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad for myself, and slices of pecan chocolate toffee and chocolate cream pie to share. The sandwich was filling and the slaw was a nice touch. Potato salad was pretty standard, not bad but nothing to write home about. Even if you're stuffed don't skip the pecan chocolate toffee pie!! I'm super into crispy chicken sandwiches lately, (me and everyone else)! As I make my rounds to all the crispy chicken sandwiches, this has been one of my faves. I like that there are different levels of heat flavors you can order. I chose the "dang hot" and it was delicious! Spicy but still full of flavor, not just heat. The Lil was a pretty decent size. Larger than a fast food chicken sandwich. The regular side of mac and cheese was mediocre, but they also have a "dirty" version that includes some chicken in it and that one is much better. read more

One of my favorite spots to visit when I'm in Austin! crispy chicken, juicy meat, spices are a good punch to the palette I love the chicken but the sides amplified the show-- you HAVE TO get the mac and cheese, it's so good here. I would get that over coleslaw next time I try to get a side that would balance out the heat of the chicken which is why I chose what I chose, they're still great picks but I think potato salad and mac n cheese for my order would be perfect next time The pies were a bit too sweet for me but I'm still in awe over the chicken read more

For someone that likes spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy, which level of spice should I get?
Dang Hot.... or.. Cluckin' Hot. I would pick Cluck. Stay away from Stupid Hot if you're not trying to go overboard. Overall, they have brought the heat level as of late down. You should be good either way!!
Are you guys buying precooked eggs (deviled eggs), and potato salad these days? I used to love both menu items, and now they taste like grocery store deli food.
I was told wimpy is no spice. If you come at happy hour (4-6 weekdays) they have small portions that would work just fine.
Do they have a kids menu...didn't see it on the menu?
Unfortunately, they don't. But my kids usually share a plate as the portions (chicken and sides) are quite large.
Do they sell shirts and hats? If so how much is the shirt? and how much is the Hat? Before tax?
Yes they sell shirts and hats. No idea on cost I'm guessing $20-30 range.
