The Waffle Breakfast plate might be the best deal on the menu. I forget how much it cost, but it was less than the Single Meat Plate. It will fill you up with a waffle, eggs, breakfast meat, and hash browns. However, you get what you pay for. The food itself was pretty forgettable. Eggs and ham were overcooked. The waffle was ok, but lost its crispness quickly. My fiancé and his family loved the Chicken they ordered. The best smoked Turkey in Austin. My wife swears by the catfish platter. Homemade sides like potato salad is tasty and unique. On the weekends it gets pretty busy and recently I noticed that cashiers don't pick up phone calls. The lady at the window was just getting on shift and was very friendly. It was nice dealing with someone who was that happy to be there. I ordered the 3 meat plate:: burnt ends, pork ribs and jalapeño sausage with baked beans and potato salad for the sides. The price is pretty good, so I am happy on that side, with the large drink bringing it to about $25. The sides were good. I really loved the baked beans. The potato salad is also very good. I would definitely order both again. On the meats, the sausage is good but not great. It has nice flavor, a very slight bite, which I expect more from a jalapeño sausage. The burnt ends were decent though a little dry. This caused me to do something I don't often do - use the sauce. The sauce has nice flavor but it was warm, which turns me off. Obviously, thats not a knock as that's simply my preference. The ribs are really good. Perfectly cooked, nicely rubbed and a hint of smoke. This brings me to why they get 4 stars - smoke, or rather the lack of smoke. Barbecue should be smokey. Otherwise, what's the point? If it ain't smokey, you might as well cook in an oven. I get more smoke on my burgers and hotdogs when I grill them. It's frustrating because their meat was actually pretty darn good. As was their sauce. Would I stop again? Yes. Pre paid days in advance to have a brisket brought in to be cooked and sliced for a Memorial birthday for my late grandpa. The brisket was agreed to be ready by early morning--upon arrival the brisket was not ready, Don's said it would not be ready until after 1pm even after they accepted payment and agreed to have it ready early morning. Instead of an apology Dons was rude/disrespectful, called my aunt a liar and never offered a refund instead they kept our brisket and gave my family literally old scraps of brisket to make up for the loss. The brisket was so bad I wouldn't have even fed it to my dogs. In a state that prides itself on the best BBQ I would highly recommend anyone use other businesses for catering when it comes to bbq. I did taste the catfish from a friends plate and it was delicious! The banana pudding was not great at all. The pudding consisted of one slice of banana, majority pudding with two vanilla wafers on top with cookie crumbs. After two bites I knew this was not good. I informed the young lady who helped me that the pudding was not good could I exchange for something else. The answer was no because "I had touched the pudding!" What a shame!
