    Creamy dreamy cole slaw
    Eric N.

Tupelo Hot Honey Chicken Sando was the best chicken I've had in a very long time. I got the deviled eggs to start with the candied bacon, and they were DEElicious. Creamy and sweet. The bacon was not chewy, but the right texture to bite through for a two-bite egg. I wasn't sure about my side item, but ended up getting the cole slaw after a small taste. It was rich, creamy, and fresh. The sandwich was thick, juicy, sweet, and crunchy! The pickles and the mango slaw was there in just the right amount to balance the heat. The bun was soft and pillowy and held everything together, even if it was drippy. I will be thinking of this sandwich for a long time to come. Service was friendly and quick. The booth and the place were really cute and modern. This seems to be a popular place, so beware that there might be big, loud parties going on. I would come back here, though, and bring my drinking friends as their bar looked amazing. I took home a slice of chocolate pecan toffee pie because I couldn't pass up fresh pie. It was nutty and hearty.x I was expecting more goo, but it was still very tasty and fresh.

One of my favorite chicken spots! Service was amazing, and my server gave us many recommendations. I was very surprised and satisfied. Honestly still think about chicken and mac n cheese. Cute western barn vibes. Great for a quick bite or hanging with your friends.

We got hungry after the Chinese Lunar Year celebrations and been eating Chinese food for the past several days. We wanted something different than that. We arrived around 4:30 PM right before the rush hour Tuesday. My husband and I were here two weeks ago with some friends. I loved their fried chicken! So, I wanted to take my family here to let them see how good their food is. As we were walking my elderly parents around the corner to the door, Dave was already there holding the door open for us. It was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The dang hot fried chicken is my go to. If you've had Gus's fried chicken and think that's the best then you haven't had the best until you've tried Tumble 22's! You have traditional then 5 different hot levels to choose from hot to stupid hot based on the type of pepper ranging from jalapeño to ghost pepper!! Gus's has zero spice levels! I promise you won't be disappointed with the perfection of spice, crispness to juiciness! It's my new favorite fried chicken spot! The prices are also cheaper than Gus's. I promise you won't be disappointed!

This place is the rave for fried chicken. Since my dad loves it so much, we decided to drop in to try. Party of three was quickly seated on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. After which, noted that there were several parties waiting by the door. The servers are very attentive, orders and drink refills were quick. We ordered: * Heavenly eggs - heat level mild, comes 5 per order, love the candied bacon on this dish * Ceasar salad w/chicken bites - who knew cranberries and pumpkin seeds would taste so good on a Ceasar salad?! * 1/4 dark - hot heat level, perfect heat level for me, don't think I could take it any hotter. The chicken is crispy, hot in temperature, and so juicy! * 1/2 mixed - even the breast piece is juicy and tasty! * Mac & cheese side - highly recommend, cheesy! * French fries - ordered it normal, didn't want to try the fancy ones on my first visit. Crispy and fresh, no complaints. The parking was rough. I had to circle around the pits 4 times before I finally landed a spot. And they're tight so I recommend ride share to get here if you can. I can't wait to come back to try their pies and milkshakes!

We ordered Korean style OG, The Southern and Jumbo tenders!! Medium heat! Friendly staff!

Perfect spot to kick back with friends, grab a drink, and catch a game! Even better if you're pregaming before an Astros, Rockets, or Texans game -- spicy chicken + cold drinks = unbeatable combo. I ordered the 2-piece tender plate, Cluckin' Hot. Let's just say those beers started disappearing real fast before the heat even hit. The spice sneaks up on you -- not overly seasoned like other spots, but still packs a punch. The service was honestly the best part. They were a bit understaffed when I visited, but the bartender was handling drinks and taking care of us like a pro. Cool dude, never missed a refill, and made the experience that much better. Only small gripe: the sauces. Nothing crazy memorable -- maybe next time I'll ask for the tenders tossed and see if that hits the mark. Overall, great vibes, good heat, and an awesome spot to hang out before or after the game. I'll definitely be back for round two (and extra sauce, fingers crossed).

Absolutely one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. Not a doubt in my mind. Add in some amazing mac and cheese, crispy shoestring french fries, and a great selection of cold beverages... you're well on your way to your next big addiction. The staff at Tumble 22 are happy to greet you with a smile and answer any questions you may have about the menu. The menu is built to allow you to effectively build your own custom meal with individual sandwiches and sides. Nothing was disappointing. The restaurant itself was well laid out, reasonably bright and open. There was a great bar as well with a couple TV's showing the college football games. Overall this was a great experience and I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

Fantastic chicken. Their ranch is also amazing. The spice levels are legitimately spicy the higher you get. And their mac and cheese?? DIVINE. Excellent rec from our server. Will be back! HOWEVER. The location of this place is a PAIN. Next to an extremely busy road you'd need to make an unprotected left turn. And good luck getting Houston drivers to make room out of the kindness in their hearts. If you take the back roads, there's a train track. And our luck was terrible bc in avoiding the busy road, we ran into a giant train crossing. It took us 20 minutes of traffic to get here and we live super close. So be mindful. The food and vibes are worth it. Just don't go during rush hour dinner (even on weekdays)!! It's near a police station so you'll probably see cops and firefighters eating here too.

I love fried chicken - always have from those days growing up when Popeye's still served dirty rice. I also love hot chicken since I had Hattie B's in Nashville. My first introduction to Tumble 22 was for a friend's birthday. We were out and still hungry, so we went here. Even better that it's close to home. Parking is limited to under 20 spots - on the side and towards Center Street which is dimly lit at night. The Houston Ave. location has plenty of table seating and a large bar area. Service was great for a group of six people. We asked our server if the manager could sing happy birthday for our friend. He actually came out, brought a Texas pecan pie and we all sang. It was good, but I ordered the chocolate cream pie which was phenomenal. I ordered dirty fries which had pulled white chicken, queso and pickles. It was ok, but I thought the chicken was a little dry cut up, and the fries weren't that great. Would work better with fat fries than skinny with all the toppings. Since then, I've had their chicken bites and mac-n-cheese at an event at the zoo for Feasts with the Beasts. The Mac-n-cheese was so memorable that I also ordered twice from the Houston Ave. location. This time I tried the 2 pc boneless thighs and then 1/4 dark and upgraded for two thighs instead of a thigh and leg. The hot was good enough for me and had great flavor. I like spicy chicken or spicy food in general but not at the expense of losing my taste and having everything taste bitter. The bread it comes with gets soaked in that spicy oil. I'm not a fan of the bread-n-butter pickle because it's sweet. I prefer sour pickles. I highly recommend the dark meat over white. The chicken was hot, juicy and had crispy skin. The 1/4 dark bone-in thigh was large, and they didn't skimp on the size when I upgraded the leg for it. The boneless thighs were just as good even though the pieces were smaller. It was still filling. Both times I chose the mac-n-cheese. With the 1/4 dark combo, you get two sides, so I doubled up. The cheese is so good. It's a white, thick cheese over cavatappi spiral pasta. Eventually, I'll try the sandwiches. The O.G., Lil' O.G., and The Southern sound appealing. There's also milkshakes, salads, deviled eggs, and chicken Korean style with gochujang. If you like homemade pies, hot chicken (can also get it without spice) and mac-n-cheese, check them out! Btw, when you dine in, you can get a stamp card for a free meal up to $15 off after 10 stamps.

This is honestly the juiciest chicken I think ive ever had in my life. It's so good. Been here multiple times and each time the chicken is consistently delicious. The staff is always friendly and the drinks are pretty good also. But the star here is without a doubt the chicken. Will continue to return here

1/4 Dark, fries are so crispy!

Ok. This is the 2nd time and I'm confirming a few facts. Tumble 22 tastes so great ! Yes, it's franchise and it's consistent ! At least for the two times I've visited. For first timers, please announce yourselves. Your server will grant you a sampler of chicken and spice levels + sides. You want to stay alive with mild spicy or you want to try they "stupid hot" level, at your own risk! But our first server, Hung, gave us suchhhhh a great first impression and so hyped that this lasted ever since. His level of energy is kinda rare these days. The second time, I wanted to see how quick I'd lose my taste. Our server did not hesitate to give us a sampler of that "dang hot" level. Glad I did because I was not enjoying food anymore. "hot" or "mo hot" is definitely a good spice point. I'm weak. They serve beers on draft or not, N/A beers if you're into that, cocktails and other type of alcohol. But soda or water is good too! Food is delicious and fresh. Fries are crispy. Sides are super fun to have. A slight sense of healthy with the broccoli lol. They have this whole dessert menu that's intimidating me. Pies and milkshakes. How do people fit this after so many goodies beforehand ? I'm still curious, maybe one day. I enjoyed the whole vibe and friendliness of the place. Definitely adding this as a fun casual spot to hang out at .

Overall a mid chicken experience. I appreciate they have the first time sampler plate but after that we really lowered our expectations. We considered leaving but were just so hungry. The deviled eggs were prettt decent. The chicken really didn't have much flavor and then the sprinkle hotness on top wasn't flavorful just hot. The pickles and buns were good tho. We did get buttermilk pie the end which was the best part. Our server Elijah was very fun

Nice cozy place, perfect setting for fried chicken. I am sure they had other stuff, but that was the mission for this visit. Started with fried pickle spears, probably the best I have ever had, no joke. Perfect coating, taste and preparation. I like the spears vs the chips. Had the special which was to legs and two thighs for the price of the 3 pc dark. Beans and slaw. Ok, the chicken was great, moist, seasoned, very well cooked. I will go out of my way to go here for the chicken. Beans, canned with a little flavor added, nothing to brag about the slaw was pretty good. The fries on my friend's plate looked great. Perfect. We got here at about 1145, the place was busy. By 1215, it was packed, but they move people through and do a booming take out. Try it, you will like it. It satisfied my fried chicken desire and. I also had the his biscus lemonade. Needless to say--well actually, quite needing to say since this is a review after all--the food was pretty good. Prices were a little crazy but it's become all to normal in this day and age. As for the food, I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries , a kids meal chicken tender.. don't feel like saying all this again. As for the food, the service was pretty good I guess. The girl servers were pretty smart. The boy servers were a little less smart. Every time the guys brought food, they either stood there looking around, or attempted to place the food on top of other plates or napkins that were on the tiny table. I suggest maybe a boot/concentration program for the guys so they can concentrate a lil more. Ok, it's time for me to go. I'm gonna go to sleep after all the food. I forgot to mention what I ordered. kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. The half chicken was obviously what they tried the hardest in. There were 4 types of sauce with it. They were all pretty good, but I didn't eat the chicken. The chicken tasted incredible-- so much so that I finished it completely. But I don't like eating around bones, I find it primitive. I'm more of a chicken tender kinda guy if you know what I mean. Oh yeah and for the food, I had a his biscus lemonade. It was SO good. Alright. And that is the end of my review. I remember the hype this place got as they started out and moved from their original spot to this new spot on Shepard. Now that they have inside seating, I figured it was time to check them out. I was in the area at a local bar with friends, and a few friends ordered Mico's through DoorDash. It looked and smelled so good that I decided I had to have it that night, but at the restaurant. I pulled up to what looks a new building. They share a lot with other businesses but I was able to get a parking spot easily. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. They also have bar seating by the register. When I looked around, I noticed alot of people waiting on food. It was a mix of food delivery drivers as well as patrons that had ordered and waiting. There was a customer at the counter going off on the employees and I got to commend the young staff for keeping their cool. That being said, the young staff was friendly and trying their best, but they were drowning and the mood in the place was off. Items were forgotten. People were not getting their food in the order of when they ordered. Four parties ordered after me, with similar items and everyone got their orders before mine. I think I was forgotten and only after one of the staff noticed me waiting did they come and look at my receipt. Time from ordering to receiving my food was close to 40 minutes. This is a hot chicken place that is trying to be somewhat fancy. I was served my food on a nice plated plate. Nice touch, but it felt off for the food being served here. They also give utensils in cloth napkins. No paper towels or napkins in sight. Hot chicken is messy and the cloth napkins was not doing it for me. I ended up up knife and forking my sandwich to keep the messy hands from happening. They also serve their fountain drinks in small cups filled to the brim with us. A few swigs and my drink was almost gone. For a place serving spicy food, a soda fountain with refills or readily available water should be available and out front. Now to the good part. The food was outstanding. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich at their hottest level which also came with a side. I got the waffle fries. The sandwich was voted one of the best dishes in the state by Texas Monthly and I can see why. It was a hefty sandwich with a large chicken breast seasoned to perfection. I always love when their is a little hangover of the chicken outside of the bun. The chicken was crispy but juicy inside. The heat was there but totally bearable with the cooling component of the delicious slaw on top. I usually pick pickles off sandwiches, but the pickles here were good and the acidity added a pleasant touch to the sandwich. The waffle fries were also excellent. They were the battered and seasoned kind which I love. The food most definitely saved the overall experience on my visit here. I will say it is one of the better hot chickens I have had in Houston. Now if they go back to their roots and not try to be fancy and do better on their customer service, I can see this place sticking around for a long time. With my experience, I don't see myself hurrying back anytime soon.

One of the best meals I've had all year, hand to GOD. If this place is even remotely on your radar,…read moreget there before they shut down in mid-July. It's worth making the trip now, not later. The menu is exceptionally well-curated, hitting that sweet spot of what Houston does best. comfort, creativity, and just enough flair to keep things interesting. The space matches the vibe: modern and minimalist with a subtle Chip-and-Joanna-Gaines touch. The drink menu is just as thoughtful. Even the well spirits are solid. We kicked things off with the deviled eggs topped with maple pork belly, easily some of the creamiest I've ever had. Do not split an order. Everyone at the table should get their own. For the entrée, I went with the Sunday enchiladas made with Killen's famous brisket. Smoke, salt, pepper and exactly what you want from a dish like this. It typically comes with Mexican rice and refried beans, but the rice was running behind during my visit, so I swapped in scrambled eggs (it was brunch) no complaints. They were simple buttery, creamy and just damn delicious. peach bread pudding that was downright decadent. Easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Make you wanna slap yo momma.

I've lost count of how many times I've been here, so this review is long overdue…read more Yes, it's inside a gas station (Pitstop Express), but don't let that fool you. Some of the best food spots hide behind gas pumps, and this is one of those spots. The chicken stays consistent every single time. Finding good fried chicken in Houston is strangely harder than it should be, so I usually end up frying my own. But here? The chicken is seasoned, fried fresh to order, and just... good. Like, no gimmicks, just good chicken. Ordering is simple: place it at the counter, pay at the register, hand your ticket back, and then wait about 15 minutes for your food. And they've got fried okra, which always hits. The cooks keep the vibes up. It's all takeout; no seating so while you wait, browse the snack shelves. You'll probably spot something you haven't seen since childhood (depending on how far back your childhood goes). They also serve breakfast but Ive only had the chicken. This is definitely a go too when simple wing craving kicks in and I don't wanna cook.

The wait was incredibly long even though they weren't busy, but the workers were kind and gave us beverages while we waited. Overall the establishment was clean and the food was good. Not my favorite chicken spot but I'm not against trying them again.

Solid hot chicken spot - Flavorful with a decent kick…read more The area itself is in the heart of Montrose where you've got some fancy bars/restaurants in the area. A big open lot with some food trucks and 2 random benches. Makes for a good late night dining spot after a night out. Standard hot chicken lineup with the sandwich, strips, combo, fries. I liked the halal options. The wrap with turnips did entice me a bit but went for the Sandwich + a side order of pecked fries. The service was efficient, got it out in about 10minutes. I liked the curry seasoning to the fries, the chicken was battered well and had a solid crunch/flavor. The sandwich itself is also a straightforward classic = standard brioche bun + pickles for garnish and a decent sized breast. I would say the "yummy sauce" is just a bit overwhelming for me, it's just everywhere when I unwrapped the sandwich.. It was a bit too creamy for my taste. Overall I liked the chicken and the menu for being halal, it was cooked well and the adjustable spice level is nice. But the Yummy sauce is sort of a miss for me. Not sure what's in it but too rich, 3.5/5, didn't quite stand out for me.
