Bone in 1-Piece Thigh and 2 piece chicken tenders

Great happy hour (M-F 4-6 pm) deal! I stopped by and got the 2 piece tenders (w side & sauce) for $9 and bone in chicken. The chicken was generously sized and juicy. The fries were good. Comeback sauce was delicious! Service was a bit lacking but likely due to the amount of customers. I'll definitely be back!

We went to Tumble 22 on a Friday evening. The lot was full so we parked in the lot next door. The inside is small but there was outside seating too. It was too hot outside. We were able to get seated at a high top right near the door. Service was slow but our waitress was friendly. I ordered a beer, took awhile. We ordered our food: half mixed bone in chicken for my husband, I ordered two piece boneless thighs, my son ordered Korean fried tenders. We got the Mo-hot spice level which was perfect. The amount of food on each plate was really good, we had leftovers. My 21 year old son could only finish 1.5 of the strips. The fries are shoestring style and pretty good, the bone in chicken reheats the best of all. It was better the second day. I also ordered the deviled eggs with a piece of candied bacon on top, they were really good and helped to calm the spiciness of the chicken perfectly. We will go back, many more things to try.

My bone-in dark meat, eyes were bigger than my stomach. Did not love the mac & cheese though it wasn't bad, ate the broccoli salad.

First let me just rave about how wonderful our waiter Darwin was. He made suggestions, he helped my husband in making a decision by bringing small samples to the table, and overall he was just awesome. Another special mention goes to Mr. Picky's tall glass of Arnold Palmer. So often restaurants serve you something that tastes bitter and nasty, but the iced tea and lemonade in this were sweet and really pleasant, a lovely surprise. Mr. Picky selected boneless, while I went for the half chicken all dark meat. Between us we had broccoli salad, mac & cheese, coleslaw and fries. Sauces were comeback, hot honey, ranch and honey mustard, and the Comeback was my favorite. Of the sides, I liked the broccoli salad and coleslaw the best, while Mr. Picky pretty much ignored them all and just focused on dipping his boneless chicken into the hot honey sauce. They make their own pies, which I think is wonderful. Dessert was the pecan chocolate toffee pie and Key lime pie, with the kitchen splitting them both so that we could get tastes of each. We by far preferred the Key lime pie and needed that little citrus jolt at the end of the meal.

This is one of my favorite places both for the quality, environment, and service, but also because it's so close by. I ate here for the first time in July when they had a fundraiser, and started coming back more frequently on Tuesdays when they have deals on specific items from 4-6pm. I've brought so many friends here, and honestly I think about coming here at least once a week. I start out with their dirty fries, which are normal french fries with a mild nacho cheese, topped with shredded chicken and pickles. I then order some tenders, usually just hot because anything hotter than that is too much to handle imo, with comeback sauce. These tenders are pretty big, so an order of two is enough for me to take leftovers home. I usually get mac and cheese, which is so creamy and filling that I usually also end up taking it home as well. If not mac and cheese, I'll order their broccoli salad. My favorite drink from here is the Lil Larry. It's pretty strong, so I opt for this instead of the big larry. As for their pies, Ive tried the pecan chocolate toffee pie, which is so good, but I would only order if I'm REALLY craving something sweet. I've ordered their key lime pie, but I'm not sure if I got a bad batch. The time I ordered it, it had some type of lard taste to it. Like enough to where I couldn't finish it the taste was so apparent. I've also ordered their chocolate cream pie, which is real simple and creamy! Definitely a safe choice if you don't want anything too sweet after eating. Just to add: I've brought a friend here once who was iffy because she had gone to the Memorial location before and wasn't too happy with her experience, and once she ate here she was pleasantly surprised! She didn't expect the food to come out so good. And even apart from the food, every time I've dined here, the servers are always so kind and attentive. I don't think i've had even a single tiny issue with a server here before. I will be coming back and bringing more of my friends for sure.

This spot has officially earned a permanent place on my Houston favorites list! From the moment you walk in, you're met with warm, welcoming energy. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home--they even greet newcomers with a sample tray, which is such a thoughtful (and genius!) way to introduce you to the heat levels before committing to a full plate. And can we talk about the sides? The macaroni is hands-down my go-to--ultra creamy, perfectly seasoned, and the ultimate comfort food that rounds out any meal just right. It's the kind of dish you think about long after you've finished eating. Highly, highly recommend this place--for the food, the vibes, and the hospitality that keeps you coming back!

I took maybe 5 bites while driving bc I was so hungry and decided to just wait til I got home to add sauce. I was very disappointed. I thought the chicken would be like hot chicken but it wasn't Crispy at all. I guess it's supposed to be pulled chicken but still not much in it and little seasoning. Maybe 5 pickle slices... but the fries are fine. Just 'mid' at best. Maybe I'll go back and get something else from the menu but I'm not impressed at all. Fries: 5/10 Chicken: 4/10 Seasoning and toppings: 3/10

Ambiance: Southern/rustic dine-in eatery with a bar and ample seating, perfect for a quick solo lunch or family dinner. The hostess and waitstaff are super friendly and accommodating. The fries and Mac and cheese were delicious. I like the chicken - I didn't get any "heat" on mine. It seems like maybe there's more flavor if you get a certain heat level, otherwise you really have to depend on the sauce for flavor. That said, I enjoyed my meal and would go back and try out more of their chicken options - like their sandwiches! Parking onsite, clean and fast service. Walking distance to many other shops/restaurants/bars.

Bottom line: I'd only come back for the tenders and sides, but not for the other items or the inconsistent service (tried to charge me for a shake they never brought out until I called it out). At that point, Raising Cane's or Popeyes is a better choice. The sides were a strong 4.5--well-seasoned, with the broccoli salad being my favorite. The chicken tenders were definitely the highlight, and I regret not just ordering those. Instead, I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was mid and pretty disappointing. The Szechuan fries were a total miss for me. I love Szechuan flavors and was expecting that signature peppercorn spice, but instead, they had a strong Dijon mustard taste. If it's Dijon-based, that really should be stated on the menu. My fiancé got the Dive Burger, and it was another letdown--fell apart easily and lacked seasoning. Service was generally alright, but there were issues. The server asked if I wanted my shake as an appetizer or dessert, and I chose appetizer. It never came, and I was still going to be charged until I pointed it out. A couple behind me had the same issue with their fries.

Been wanting to try this spot for a while. As you walk in the hosts are super friendly and we were able to get seated right away. There's a full open bar and lots of seating indoors and it looks like there's patio seating available as well. The server asked if it was our first time coming and offered a sampler plate that is complimentary which was awesome and had sides I would have never probably known about had they not put it out which helped actually make my decision easy for what to order. Who would think that a chicken spot had greens and they were GOOD! Has a little spice but they were very well seasoned and still had just that little bit of crunch. The Mac n cheese is creamy and hearty and you can get them "dirty" which looks to be covered with some of their chicken. I ended up with the mo' hot chicken tenders which really was not too hot. This is a great spot for chicken lovers.

Pretty good chicken. Nice and tasty. I had bonless and bone in chicken thighs. With dirty fries. They give a slice of bread pickles with the chicken. The slice of bread reminds me of eating at my maw maw's house as a kid. The only issue is I'm not crazy about bread and butter pickles. So I was a little disappointed bc I thought it was kosher pickles which I think pairs better with hot honey chicken. I make it all the time at home and I prefer kosher pickles but hay, if you like bread and butter you will be fine or you don't have to eat the pickles.The restaurant is cool and laid back. The wait staff is great. This place will definitely be in our rotation of Friday night chicken spots.

if I don't say one good thing about this place, just know their lemonade is to DIE FOR! I am a big tea and/or lemonade type of girl and I love it when a franchise can actually make that southern lemonade that I crave constantly. It's not too watered down or too sweet, I hate lemonade that tastes like it has TOO many calories but Tumble22 definitely passed the marks when it comes to refreshments being exactly what it is; REFRESHING! I am not a big huge to die fan because I only get ONE thing off the menu every-time, lol! My go to is the Half Cobb Salad with grilled mo'hot bites, no boiled egg (but keep that deviled egg right there!), no tomatoes and if I'm feeling very lightweight, I leave the avocado on standby. In the picture, my bites were fried and not grilled which was a honest mistake but I love the bites fried or grilled but I do prefer it grilled! Try it, tell me which version is better! Grilled or Fried? My friend got the Dive burger which looked AMAZING! I'll make sure to confirm it was in fact the dive burger and nothing else but it did look like it had some type of coleslaw on the burger. We both are not fond of coleslaw so it was interesting to see him try it and actually like it! I was prompted to write a review for Tumble22 after seeing an elite friend of mines try Tumble22! She recommended me the hot honey chicken! So I will definitely be back to try that before the summer ends! Other than the food, I love the ambiance! A small tip; eat indoors during the day because of pesky flies and eat out on their patio at night! The mood, the vibe and the weather at night always makes sense at Tumble22. Which meal is your favorite at Tumble22? I need more options to try and get out my comfort zone with!

First time here to start off the the staff is smiling and friendly and even warned me my choice of hotness was hot.....for once it was. So I got the O.G. sandwich which was huge . I ordered it stupid hot which it was. The chicken is a wet like Nashville hot. So little oily. Not my Forte but I give credit where it is due. The fries were thin if thats what u like and all pair with a 8th wonder. I didnt know what it tasted like but bad pair but that was all me. Best chicken sandwich I've had in years! The O.G. is humongous and served with the perfect amount of slaw, pickles and mayo. Recommend starting out with the low-level heat and work your way up. I recommend the French fries too. One standard order is definitely enough and they are shoestring, mine came unsalted but I prefer to salt my own anyway for taste. They are very tasty. This place is always on my dang mind ever since I first tried it. 2 years ago. The deviled eggs, perfect! The OG Chicken sandwich, SUPERB!!! The pickle fries, amazing! We have even gotten food delivered from here, and it is packaged so well that everything tastes exactly how it would if you were eating inside the restaurant. That never happens! The service was AMAZING, and the food was even better! The adults had chicken sandwich meals and a cobb salad while the kids ordered medium rare hamburgers with a side of mac and cheese. After one bite of each item, the kids immediately asked when we would be back. The salad was fresh, flavorful and was paired with deviled eggs. The burgers and chicken sandwiches were juicy and flavorful. We went during happy hour and ordered the adult lemonade. The drinks were just as good as the food. We can't wait to be back! Excellent efficient service our waitress Alisha was amazing with the recommendations as this was our first time. The drinks are so good and they aren't stingy. I tried the southern and my husband tried the OG and everything was delicious. Chicken taste so fresh, and the deviled eggs had some sort of secret ingredient that stood out. Not bad for hot chicken! Definitely agree with another reviewer it does best Chick-fil-A when you want a Nashville hot spicy sandwich. The dirty Mac was really good also. I will definitely come back and try the other stuff on the menu and get their happy hour drinks! I placed a to-go order, and my food was hot and ready without any wait. They've only been open I believe for less than a month and I've already been here at least 7 times. It is absolutely delicious. The chicken is so crispy and juicy and flavorful all in one what else can you ask for on some chicken! It was my first time to visit Tumble 22 , and I enjoyed it very much. I got the OG chicken sandwich with medium heat. It was delicious. The bartender, Suzanne, took care of me and was awesome! The food is so good and the drinks are the best I've ever had. $5 drink Happy Hour (chefs kiss). The environment is great. You'll only have a good time if you have right waiter tho. I've been multiple times and the only times I've had a good experience was with the waiter Ernesto. Best waiter ever. The rest don't care at all about you, absolutely non existent. I've invited a lot of people to come eat here with me and we've had the best experience with Ernesto only. The wait staff need to learn more things from him. Food is pretty good. read more

I recently visited this location at around 12:15 pm, and ordered through the drive-thru. I was told to park in the pick spot and wait. I was made aware that I needed to be patient as they were backed up. I waited nearly 45 minutes without anyone coming to the car. I was on my lunch break, so I couldn't wait any longer, and had to leave without my food. I'm a patient person, but 45 minutes is too long to wait for a drive thru order. I lost both time and money, and that is inexcusable. read more

It has been the worst week for us. My kids and I got our of the car to grab some dinner and they're already fighting as we walk into the restaurant. When we walk in we were greeted by Travis with a huge Texas smile and wave. He seated us and waited on us the whole time. He completely made our night, my kids actually loved him and cheered up. We were able to enjoy dinner without the kids arguing. My 8 year old son took it upon himself to make sure Travis and his manager knew that he needed a raise! My family and I love this place. Chicken is delicious! You can get different heat levels and it is crispy and flavorful. I had the monthly chicken sandwich special for April and for may, very different and delicious. Their sides are great too even the Mac and cheese! (I can be picky about that ) . They have a great outdoor patio and the service was amazing . Our server Ernesto was such fun, and was always a step ahead of our needs. My son and I had been looking forward to going here for months it was such a disappointment. Started with there WiFi menu not working and not having a printed menu. The manager finally managed to print a menu that wasn't up to date but I appreciate the effort. We started with Dirty Fries presentation was lack luster soggy fries and the beer cheese was gross tasting if I've ever had the desire to eat paste it would probably be better. I ordered the Cobb salad I love ranch dressing but to have the salad saturated to the point it was no longer fresh and crisp. I'll never need to go back and don't understand all the hype read more

The chicken sandwich with coleslaw was not good: the meat was marinated unevenly so the part without any flavor was nasty. The colslaw was only half-full, in a tiny bity container (the tiniest container for a colslaw I have ever seen) There was no utensil or napkin in the bag...do you suppose to drink your colslaw? Why I am giving a 2 stars instead of 1 is just because of the food. Food was really good I can't even lie. But lord have mercy the service was AWFUL. We sat down, and it took 10 minutes to even get a menu (Not drinks) and I had to ask for the menus. Then another 15-20 minutes before we saw our waiter.. The food was good can't lie at all! Only saw the waiter one other time and that is because the table next to us needed water and he had some leftover in the pitcher so he offered it to us. All right, now we are all done eating.. We wait another 20 minutes. Stacked our cups and baskets, like insanely obvious we were done and needed to pay. How can the white meat chicken be fatty AND too dry? Must be the old grease they overcooked it in. Also -- they are stingy with their overpriced, under-flavored sides. In my to-go order, the only competently prepared item was the beans. The potato salad container was 3/4 full, the collards greens were probably awful (but I'll never know because that item was MISSING), and their Cole slaw took me down Memory Lane -- back to grade school when some kids called it "cold slaughter." Wow blew me away with great chicken, good sides, reasonable drinks, nice people decent service and super fast at getting food out to you. This is a sit down and order place if you go inside and it took only about 3 minutes longer for my food to arrive compared to Mcdonalds. I have been here three times including on opening day just to figure out if I like it or not. I'll break this review down based on my three visits thus far: 1. First Visit- Opening Day Was super pumped to come here because honestly I still miss PDQ, but love hot chicken too. Wanted to order a family pack but since you can't get two flavors in the family pack had to break down my orders which was a big annoying. Went for the 6pc family hot with slaw that you can't substitute or pay an upcharge to replace and a quarter dark wimpy for my dad. Ordered fries, beans, & mac. Ordering was seamless and customer service is good and food was out quick. I tasted the fries in the parking lot and it was a complete salt lick. To be nice, I just went in and ordered some more fries NO salt and they came out quick. Which to mention they are 4.50 and can barely feed two people so be warned to order two. Got it home and went for the kill for the price point of the bone-in chicken I can't say I was impressed spent $50 bucks at a chicken joint so definitely not family friendly. Also the chicken was very oily and left me feeling not too good afterwards. The beans should not be advertised as bbq beans because they definitely remind me of what I refer to as chili beans I eat with rice and cornbread not baked beans I was expecting. Cilantro mint and ranch sauces are just ok. The kale slaw was not really my scene but it wasn't terrible. The star of the show is the mac and cheese it's absolutely delicious! Visit 2- Wanted to try the chicken bites, so got a 6 piece in hot just to try them out with the comeback sauce at recommendation with fries and mac and cheese. The chicken bites are what I would come back for if anything. Visit 3- Ordered more chicken bites, fries, a sandwich, and more mac and cheese. This was the first time I noticed the real price of the mac and cheese (I thought it was $3 for small and $6 for large) turns out I was reading it wrong and it's $4 and $8 dollars. Probably won't be ordering it again as the $8 mac barely feeds two people. Can cook it at home at that point. Ordered a slice of buttermilk pie since I didn't feel like making my own, but a bit too much vinegar for my taste. Won't order again. My dad loved his sandwich which was $5.95 and pretty hefty a good deal. Takeaways: Rooting for the place since it's a new business, but a bit too expensive for the area when a lot of people have families to feed especially with everything being sold a la carte, no substitutions, and if you want mac or fries it's an additional dollar for each making an $8.50 quarter chicken plate $10.50 with no drink. Pro Tip: If you're grabbing fries, order them with NO salt. I'd go back if I'm absolutely craving it, but I hope for their sake they come with some sort of special or happy hour like they have in Austin. In the meantime, I'll likely keep driving to Micos & Gus' (I know it's not hot chicken but we don't have Princes or Hattie B's quite yet so closest thing to it) read more

They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.

We have been regular patrons, typically dining here 1-2 times a week. Unfortunately, our recent experiences, including tonight, have been marked by subpar service. Upon arriving at 8:30 pm and seating ourselves at the empty bar counter, we waited for 10 minutes before the server took our order. Despite our consistent order, requesting a water refill resulted in being handed an iceless glass, obliging us to manage our own refills. The food arrived with overdone fries, and it took two inquiries from different servers to clarify our preference for comeback sauce placement. We had to request napkins, ultimately resorting to obtaining paper towels from a nearby table. The spillage from self-pouring water left the bar wet, with no subsequent cleanup. Displeased with the experience, we declined to finish our meals. When the manager inquired about our satisfaction, our frustration led us to express a muted affirmation. Despite being regular patrons for months, the noticeable decline in service quality has become a source of stress and annoyance, deterring us from continuing our frequent visits for both lunch and dinner. read more

1/2 (3.5/5) I'm giving Tumble 22 a solid 3.5 stars. The food is good, the service is great, and the location is convenient, but the menu/pricing structure just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The chicken tenders are HUGE, which I definitely appreciate, but it feels like everything is priced separately. If I remember correctly, you have to pay extra for sides, and there isn't really a meal option that's big enough for a couple to share. My husband and I usually get the two-piece meal and end up adding extra fries, which makes the total climb pretty quickly. That said, the food is tasty, the staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is consistently packed, so they're obviously doing something right. I just wish the meal options were a little more straightforward and offered better value for the price. Would I go back? Absolutely. Do I still find the menu setup a little odd every time? We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Tumble 22, and a huge part of that was our waiter, Shannon. From the very beginning, he addressed our wild kids with kindness and patience, calmly reassuring us that it was completely okay, they were just being kids. That instantly put us at ease. Shannon checked on us often, making sure everything was good and that we were enjoying our food. He even took time to come back and talk with our kids, which meant so much to us as parents. His attentiveness and genuine care made the whole experience feel welcoming and stress-free. If you get a chance to eat here, ask for Shannon. I generally don't have any complaints about the food. They did run out of batter, one time which was poor management. But what really pisses me off is at 4:30 pm 3/24 the waiter seating my wife was hitting on her. Asking if he could dine with her just because she came in alone. No professionalism or class! This scumbag white trash minimum wage loser should keep his mouth shut towards female customers. He's making them feel really uncomfortable and she had to get another waiter. Can't get good help these days. read more

Absolute 10/10 experience! The food is fresh and delicious--the dirty fries are to die for and the hot honey chicken is super moist and crunchy! But what really sets this place apart is the staff. The incredible teamwork and smiles from all the ladies made us feel so well taken care of. Throw in some great blues music playing in the background, and you have the perfect spot. I tried making an order through the drive-through, where they told me they couldn't sell me certain items off the menu through the DT. Ok. Then they told me they couldn't accept my payment because they "didn't have enough iPads". Both people who were working the drive through sounded like they couldn't care less. read more
