Bone in 1-Piece Thigh and 2 piece chicken tenders

Great happy hour (M-F 4-6 pm) deal! I stopped by and got the 2 piece tenders (w side & sauce) for $9 and bone in chicken. The chicken was generously sized and juicy. The fries were good. Comeback sauce was delicious! Service was a bit lacking but likely due to the amount of customers. I'll definitely be back!

We went to Tumble 22 on a Friday evening. The lot was full so we parked in the lot next door. The inside is small but there was outside seating too. It was too hot outside. We were able to get seated at a high top right near the door. Service was slow but our waitress was friendly. I ordered a beer, took awhile. We ordered our food: half mixed bone in chicken for my husband, I ordered two piece boneless thighs, my son ordered Korean fried tenders. We got the Mo-hot spice level which was perfect. The amount of food on each plate was really good, we had leftovers. My 21 year old son could only finish 1.5 of the strips. The fries are shoestring style and pretty good, the bone in chicken reheats the best of all. It was better the second day. I also ordered the deviled eggs with a piece of candied bacon on top, they were really good and helped to calm the spiciness of the chicken perfectly. We will go back, many more things to try.

My bone-in dark meat, eyes were bigger than my stomach. Did not love the mac & cheese though it wasn't bad, ate the broccoli salad.

First let me just rave about how wonderful our waiter Darwin was. He made suggestions, he helped my husband in making a decision by bringing small samples to the table, and overall he was just awesome. Another special mention goes to Mr. Picky's tall glass of Arnold Palmer. So often restaurants serve you something that tastes bitter and nasty, but the iced tea and lemonade in this were sweet and really pleasant, a lovely surprise. Mr. Picky selected boneless, while I went for the half chicken all dark meat. Between us we had broccoli salad, mac & cheese, coleslaw and fries. Sauces were comeback, hot honey, ranch and honey mustard, and the Comeback was my favorite. Of the sides, I liked the broccoli salad and coleslaw the best, while Mr. Picky pretty much ignored them all and just focused on dipping his boneless chicken into the hot honey sauce. They make their own pies, which I think is wonderful. Dessert was the pecan chocolate toffee pie and Key lime pie, with the kitchen splitting them both so that we could get tastes of each. We by far preferred the Key lime pie and needed that little citrus jolt at the end of the meal.

This is one of my favorite places both for the quality, environment, and service, but also because it's so close by. I ate here for the first time in July when they had a fundraiser, and started coming back more frequently on Tuesdays when they have deals on specific items from 4-6pm. I've brought so many friends here, and honestly I think about coming here at least once a week. I start out with their dirty fries, which are normal french fries with a mild nacho cheese, topped with shredded chicken and pickles. I then order some tenders, usually just hot because anything hotter than that is too much to handle imo, with comeback sauce. These tenders are pretty big, so an order of two is enough for me to take leftovers home. I usually get mac and cheese, which is so creamy and filling that I usually also end up taking it home as well. If not mac and cheese, I'll order their broccoli salad. My favorite drink from here is the Lil Larry. It's pretty strong, so I opt for this instead of the big larry. As for their pies, Ive tried the pecan chocolate toffee pie, which is so good, but I would only order if I'm REALLY craving something sweet. I've ordered their key lime pie, but I'm not sure if I got a bad batch. The time I ordered it, it had some type of lard taste to it. Like enough to where I couldn't finish it the taste was so apparent. I've also ordered their chocolate cream pie, which is real simple and creamy! Definitely a safe choice if you don't want anything too sweet after eating. Just to add: I've brought a friend here once who was iffy because she had gone to the Memorial location before and wasn't too happy with her experience, and once she ate here she was pleasantly surprised! She didn't expect the food to come out so good. And even apart from the food, every time I've dined here, the servers are always so kind and attentive. I don't think i've had even a single tiny issue with a server here before. I will be coming back and bringing more of my friends for sure.

This spot has officially earned a permanent place on my Houston favorites list! From the moment you walk in, you're met with warm, welcoming energy. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home--they even greet newcomers with a sample tray, which is such a thoughtful (and genius!) way to introduce you to the heat levels before committing to a full plate. And can we talk about the sides? The macaroni is hands-down my go-to--ultra creamy, perfectly seasoned, and the ultimate comfort food that rounds out any meal just right. It's the kind of dish you think about long after you've finished eating. Highly, highly recommend this place--for the food, the vibes, and the hospitality that keeps you coming back!

I took maybe 5 bites while driving bc I was so hungry and decided to just wait til I got home to add sauce. I was very disappointed. I thought the chicken would be like hot chicken but it wasn't Crispy at all. I guess it's supposed to be pulled chicken but still not much in it and little seasoning. Maybe 5 pickle slices... but the fries are fine. Just 'mid' at best. Maybe I'll go back and get something else from the menu but I'm not impressed at all. Fries: 5/10 Chicken: 4/10 Seasoning and toppings: 3/10

Ambiance: Southern/rustic dine-in eatery with a bar and ample seating, perfect for a quick solo lunch or family dinner. The hostess and waitstaff are super friendly and accommodating. The fries and Mac and cheese were delicious. I like the chicken - I didn't get any "heat" on mine. It seems like maybe there's more flavor if you get a certain heat level, otherwise you really have to depend on the sauce for flavor. That said, I enjoyed my meal and would go back and try out more of their chicken options - like their sandwiches! Parking onsite, clean and fast service. Walking distance to many other shops/restaurants/bars.

Bottom line: I'd only come back for the tenders and sides, but not for the other items or the inconsistent service (tried to charge me for a shake they never brought out until I called it out). At that point, Raising Cane's or Popeyes is a better choice. The sides were a strong 4.5--well-seasoned, with the broccoli salad being my favorite. The chicken tenders were definitely the highlight, and I regret not just ordering those. Instead, I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was mid and pretty disappointing. The Szechuan fries were a total miss for me. I love Szechuan flavors and was expecting that signature peppercorn spice, but instead, they had a strong Dijon mustard taste. If it's Dijon-based, that really should be stated on the menu. My fiancé got the Dive Burger, and it was another letdown--fell apart easily and lacked seasoning. Service was generally alright, but there were issues. The server asked if I wanted my shake as an appetizer or dessert, and I chose appetizer. It never came, and I was still going to be charged until I pointed it out. A couple behind me had the same issue with their fries.

Been wanting to try this spot for a while. As you walk in the hosts are super friendly and we were able to get seated right away. There's a full open bar and lots of seating indoors and it looks like there's patio seating available as well. The server asked if it was our first time coming and offered a sampler plate that is complimentary which was awesome and had sides I would have never probably known about had they not put it out which helped actually make my decision easy for what to order. Who would think that a chicken spot had greens and they were GOOD! Has a little spice but they were very well seasoned and still had just that little bit of crunch. The Mac n cheese is creamy and hearty and you can get them "dirty" which looks to be covered with some of their chicken. I ended up with the mo' hot chicken tenders which really was not too hot. This is a great spot for chicken lovers.

Pretty good chicken. Nice and tasty. I had bonless and bone in chicken thighs. With dirty fries. They give a slice of bread pickles with the chicken. The slice of bread reminds me of eating at my maw maw's house as a kid. The only issue is I'm not crazy about bread and butter pickles. So I was a little disappointed bc I thought it was kosher pickles which I think pairs better with hot honey chicken. I make it all the time at home and I prefer kosher pickles but hay, if you like bread and butter you will be fine or you don't have to eat the pickles.The restaurant is cool and laid back. The wait staff is great. This place will definitely be in our rotation of Friday night chicken spots.

if I don't say one good thing about this place, just know their lemonade is to DIE FOR! I am a big tea and/or lemonade type of girl and I love it when a franchise can actually make that southern lemonade that I crave constantly. It's not too watered down or too sweet, I hate lemonade that tastes like it has TOO many calories but Tumble22 definitely passed the marks when it comes to refreshments being exactly what it is; REFRESHING! I am not a big huge to die fan because I only get ONE thing off the menu every-time, lol! My go to is the Half Cobb Salad with grilled mo'hot bites, no boiled egg (but keep that deviled egg right there!), no tomatoes and if I'm feeling very lightweight, I leave the avocado on standby. In the picture, my bites were fried and not grilled which was a honest mistake but I love the bites fried or grilled but I do prefer it grilled! Try it, tell me which version is better! Grilled or Fried? My friend got the Dive burger which looked AMAZING! I'll make sure to confirm it was in fact the dive burger and nothing else but it did look like it had some type of coleslaw on the burger. We both are not fond of coleslaw so it was interesting to see him try it and actually like it! I was prompted to write a review for Tumble22 after seeing an elite friend of mines try Tumble22! She recommended me the hot honey chicken! So I will definitely be back to try that before the summer ends! Other than the food, I love the ambiance! A small tip; eat indoors during the day because of pesky flies and eat out on their patio at night! The mood, the vibe and the weather at night always makes sense at Tumble22. Which meal is your favorite at Tumble22? I need more options to try and get out my comfort zone with!

When can I go back?! This Austin establishment finally made it to Houston, and I am extremely happy about it. Extremely happy. I went with the Mo Hot Lil Chicken Sandwich with mac & cheese. Its a small sandwich but its perfect. The sandwich was packed with flavor and I personally could feel the burn around my mouth. To be honest, I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food, so next time- yes there will be a next time- I am going to go with the hot spice level. My favorite mac&cheese is from CFA, but after having it here, its a really close tie. Only bad thing about this item was that you have to eat it while its hot. Once its cold its get very clumpy. I would say the chicken sandwich at Tumble 22 was a solid 4 star entree, and the value (& dessert) brought it up to 5! My friend & I both ordered the regular (small) sized crispy sandwich, and I chose the "Dang Hot" spice level (& removed the pickles). The chicken was super crispy, the bread was fresh, and the coleslaw and mayo were great additions. My only complaint was that I wish the chicken itself had a bit more seasoning. When it comes to hot chicken, my all time favorite spots usually have a bit more flavor. I thought this spice level was about a medium or slightly less than that, so I might go up one more next time. We also shared mac & cheese, which was about average, and fries, which I really enjoyed. They were super thin and crispy. For dessert, we had the pecan chocolate toffee pie. I am not usually a huge pecan pie person, and I can honestly say this is the best one I've had. The chocolate went with the pecan flavor perfectly! When comparing Tumble 22 to other hot chicken places, the value is hard to beat. The smaller sandwich, which is still decently sized, is only $5.95. This is a great spot to come by for a quick bite of crispy hot chicken. read more

First and foremost I had not idea pdq shutdown but I am very glad tumble 22 occupied the spot! The manager Robert is a pro! This was my first time here and he went out of his way to explain and answer all of my questions. Thanks Robert! Food: I got the 3 Pc white. Two wings and a breast. Let me tell you one thing. The chicken is huge! I could probably get full off a 2 Pc. The sides were amazing. Probably some of the best Mac n cheese I've ever had in my life lol. The potato salad was good too. The Nashville chicken is very good! Nice and crunchy with some heat to go along with it! I'll probably get their highest spice level next time. Service was great. Food came out hot and tasted really good. If you are in the area stop in and give them a try. Also their desserts look really good and I will try some of those next time. This chicken was super filling! Juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Not too spicy, but enough flavor to taste the different spices for each flavor. The fact that they have a "dirty Mac" defeats any competing hot chicken places, it's amazing. The service was truly top tier, our server was friendly and warm, he was also very attentive which is always a plus. We sat outside, and it was a great atmosphere. It was a nice evening to sit outside on the patio, I like that they have it covered. The waitress was nice, she let us try their side dishes and spice levels as first timers. This was really helpful, because I ended up choosing the opposite of what I thought I would order. I think this was a plus in my books for this restaurant because not every restaurant is going to let you try before you buy. I ordered the 2 piece jumbo tenders with a side of broccoli salad and mac n cheese. I will say the size of the tenders are as advertised. It came with a slice of bread and some pickles. The broccoli salad was amazing as well as the mac n cheese. The tenders I got in "hot", and I was not tasting the hot I tasted on the sample. The seasoning was inconsistent. Some parts of the tender I could taste the heat, the other parts tasted plain. I've had other places in the houston area that serve similar, and I just wasn't impressed with the tenders here. Their chicken sandwiches aren't quite like it is in Nashville but by no means does that mean their sandwiches aren't delicious. Was very impressed with the side and the taste of the chicken sandwich. The chicken meat was moist and juicy, and pretty great flavor. I was a little disappointed with their loaded fries though. So disappointed!!!!! This is my go to place for some good fried chicken. Went on 1/17/24 around 6 pm, after fasting all day, from 6 am to 6 pm (no food). When I was told it was a 15 minute wait, I was willing because I have always been satisfied with the food. But got home after waiting 20 minutes and the chicken wasn't fully cooked. Honestly, nothing special. Kinda reminded me of a chik fil a sandwich, but CFA has more flavor. I went off a tik tok review and was disappointed. Nice spot!!! 1st time visiting for lunch time!!! I'm very critical when it comes to my chicken, so I was really engaged in the outcome of my meal. The parking was decent & the atmosphere was very chill. I definitely can see this place potentially being packed on a weekend. The waitstaff was very pleasant, engaging, & professional; however, it appears that they may need to ramp up the number to ensure the overall eating area doesn't miss a beat (clean tables, refills of drinks, and engaging staff). Now on to the eats!!! I ordered "The Southern" (HOT) with a side of potato salad. The tenderness, spice, and overall flavor of the chicken was great!!! Potato salad was moderately ok. Came here when first opened was hit impressed and I wasn't sure this place was going to make it as it was never busy. Recently they added an outside dining area and it's become more busy six months later so we decided to give it another chance. Thoroughly disappointed when we got home my son wanted the mild seasoning chicken tenders and he was in tears after 1 bite I tried it and my mouth was on fire for 10 minutes and this is "Mild" I even asked the lady at the window how hot is mild and she said with an attitude it says mild doesn't it. And nothing is more annoying when we're going through a drive-through and I still have you park for 15 minutes waiting for your food there's got to be a faster way to speed up the process. Really doesn't matter we will not be back after this second disaster read more

First off, I only had the Chicken Bites, The Southern Sandwich, & the Szechuan Fries ... But I can't wait to go back and try more of their food.. I ordered thru the drive thru.. Food came out correct, hot, and packaged nicely. It was in cardboard boxes.. Sorta like a big Chinese food to go box... The Chicken Bites were delicious and big. The comeback sauce I got with them is fantastic... Spot on for chicken... The Southern Sandwich was the same ... delicious and big... It's a chicken thigh instead of a breast with pickles and Dukes mayo The Szechuan Fries were free since I signed up on the app... They were good ... but different... I still ate em all... The only things I'll do differently next time is the heat level... I did the "Hot" on both the Bites and Sandwich Next times I'll up it a level to the "Mo' Hot" until I zero in on the level I like... This place exceeded my expectations. I only wish they had gluten friendly fried chicken again. That would be so cool. I would drag all of my friends with me. We got the Mo Hot.. if you're like me and like spicy I would recommend getting the Dang Hot!! Mac&Mac cheese is good just eat it fast before it cools (it gets thick). Tried this place out while I was in town for business. I told them I hadn't been there before so they let me mix and match spiciness levels in my order and it's no joke. I was curious about the habanero so I got one and it was intense. It had me sweating but I could still taste the chicken under the heat and it was very good. Even their milder chicken had a nice distinct and full taste to it. Generous portions, good sides, and the wait staff was on point. 1/2 (3.5/5) I'm giving Tumble 22 a solid 3.5 stars. The food is good, the service is great, and the location is convenient, but the menu/pricing structure just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The chicken tenders are HUGE, which I definitely appreciate, but it feels like everything is priced separately. If I remember correctly, you have to pay extra for sides, and there isn't really a meal option that's big enough for a couple to share. My husband and I usually get the two-piece meal and end up adding extra fries, which makes the total climb pretty quickly. That said, the food is tasty, the staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is consistently packed, so they're obviously doing something right. I just wish the meal options were a little more straightforward and offered better value for the price. Would I go back? Absolutely. Do I still find the menu setup a little odd every time? We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Tumble 22, and a huge part of that was our waiter, Shannon. From the very beginning, he addressed our wild kids with kindness and patience, calmly reassuring us that it was completely okay, they were just being kids. That instantly put us at ease. Shannon checked on us often, making sure everything was good and that we were enjoying our food. He even took time to come back and talk with our kids, which meant so much to us as parents. His attentiveness and genuine care made the whole experience feel welcoming and stress-free. If you get a chance to eat here, ask for Shannon. Great service, great experience, and the food was absolutely amazing. We'll definitely be back! read more

I generally don't have any complaints about the food. They did run out of batter, one time which was poor management. But what really pisses me off is at 4:30 pm 3/24 the waiter seating my wife was hitting on her. Asking if he could dine with her just because she came in alone. No professionalism or class! This scumbag white trash minimum wage loser should keep his mouth shut towards female customers. He's making them feel really uncomfortable and she had to get another waiter. Can't get good help these days. read more

Absolute 10/10 experience! The food is fresh and delicious--the dirty fries are to die for and the hot honey chicken is super moist and crunchy! But what really sets this place apart is the staff. The incredible teamwork and smiles from all the ladies made us feel so well taken care of. Throw in some great blues music playing in the background, and you have the perfect spot. I tried making an order through the drive-through, where they told me they couldn't sell me certain items off the menu through the DT. Ok. Then they told me they couldn't accept my payment because they "didn't have enough iPads". Both people who were working the drive through sounded like they couldn't care less. read more
