As a server of 10 years, this is the first bad review I've ever written. The server herself was wonderful so this has nothing to do with the serving staff. My 2 friends and I came here yesterday for brunch as we have before and we were sat by another server. We weren't given a brunch menu so we were a little confused. When the server came over we asked about brunch and she informed us that they weren't doing brunch because they had a party in another room. Now, I've worked in many restaurants and I've never heard of this, which it would've been fine but when we were being sat we should've been told they weren't serving brunch that day so we didn't waste our time. The server said that sometimes the cooks will still do brunch and asked if we wanted her to check. My friend said yes but if they wouldn't do it it's not a big deal. A couple minutes later we hear someone yell bullshit twice and then a cook comes around the corner and looks right at our table (we were the only ones in that room). We immediately got up and left, I've NEVER been treated that way or heard of something like that happening in all of the restaurants I've ever worked in. As we were leaving, we saw the same cook that was yelling bullshit and look at us come outside and he was on his phone yelling (I took a picture of him). I found the potatoes were a little under cooked, they were still a little hard (not all of them). I recently ordered lunch and had a disappointing experience. The building layout was different and the inside decor is beautiful, I can see why it draws people inside to dine. I ordered an entree Caesar salad which the online description mentions it's topped with grilled chicken, to my surprise it's not topped with grill chicken. When I ordered online it also add two dollars to the amount. I also ordered a minestrone soup which was delicious, but also was up charged from the original price by one dollar. When I confronted the manager he was just as surprised and confused as I was about the difference from the online menu versus the restaurant menu. Don't get me wrong the Caesar dressing was creamy and delicious but paying $22.50 for a soup and salad without grill chicken is absurd! Times are tough during this pandemic, I hope they can resolve some of these issues, if I ever go back. read more

They advertise they do Sunday brunch and take reservations on open table, but it's not true. We had a 11:45 am reservation confirmed for sunday brunch. We show up to only be turned away. They said they don't open until noon and they don't do brunch. I want to like this place but each time I go, I am left wondering what all the fuss is about. This morning was the worst. Went for breakfast but only able to do the $21.95 brunch. We were with guests or else we would have left and gone to a place where you could order off the menu . The brunch buffet was a mix of pancakes, waffles, breakfast meats and then Italian- pasta pizza etc''.The best thing I tasted was the fruit salad. Everything else was tasteless and Cold. We don't think they had turned on the warmers under the serving things. I would have said something but the waitress never asked how things were. There was one other party in the place that I could see and I understand why. I do wish we had said something at the time but again, we were with guests and did not want to make a scene. 4 people cost $150 and then they also charged3% for using a credit card. Ok seriously? We waited for 20 minutes for a table and then over an hour for watery chowder and cold appetizers. Just in time for dinner to show up ALL at the same time. I hate giving bad reviews but this was the worst 2 hours of my life. At this point I'm still sitting here waiting for my card to come back and literally feeling like I'm being held hostage. Well first off I just want to say- the waitress that we had was AMAZING, but unfortunately overworked. It's Mother's Day brunch, and for the upstairs and downstairs they only had 2 waitresses- which is just unacceptable. When we first got there, we were 5 minutes early to our reservation. We waited another 10-15 just to get checked in. We finally get to our table, order our drinks, and we're told that the buffet would be ready shortly. It wasn't until 45 minutes later that it came out, and we finally saw a table get up and start getting their food (but we were there and waiting way longer then them, so we should have been first, but no one notified us). So I don't eat meat or dairy. I was disappointed when she told me they didn't have non dairy milk, because most places do now, but I could live with OJ. What REALLY pissed me off, was that I looked at the menu online beforehand, and I only came along with my family because the Mother Day buffet menu had options for me. Baked beans, home fries, toast, ASSORTED fresh fruit, and a pancake/waffle "bar" with toppings. Well guess what? NONE of that was there, besides PLAIN waffles. So I had to settle for a waffle, while my family pigged out. So yes, technically I payed 16.95 for a waffle and OJ. Very very disappointing and also not acceptable. But what was even worse was that, according to my family at the table, all the other food was cold and stale. My dad even went far enough to say that the McMuffins at McDonald's we're more appetizing. AND what was even WORSE, was that we were overcharged about $50-70, and unfortunately we didn't realize until we were halfway home. It's $16.95 per person, we had five people. Only 2 alcoholic drinks were ordered at about $15 each and the tip was about $18. Do the math, that's only about $135.00 rounded. So how come our bill was about $230.00? If we weren't so far away from this place, we would have went back and complained. But the point here is- we shouldn't have to. Get your shit together or don't open. My family definitely all agrees, we will not be coming back to Tumblesalts, ever. *edit: we just realized that apparently it was $32 a plate even though it was advertised as $16.95 a plate. So technically I payed $32 for a fucking waffle and shit food. What a scam! Management really needs to get their shit together. read more

I can easily describe my experience here in one word: AMAZING! The staff were extremely warm and welcoming. The food was incredible and more than worth the price on the menu (generous portions). In addition to splitting a spinach and artichoke dip appetizer, I had the eggplant and burrata flatbread (something I've never seen before in a restaurant), and I'm very glad I did. Along with the dip, the pita chips served with the appetizer were delicious as well. Try the eggplant and burrata flatbread...you won't be disappointed. Furthermore, the owner personally delivered the menus to my table and casually spoke with my party for about 5 minutes. It's always nice to see someone who is passionate about what they do! Final note: The executive chef and co-owner, Scott, was an extremely genuine and passionate individual. He covered for a waitress that was unable to work because of a family issue, AND he cooked our food. His passion for cooking was strikingly obvious, and the fact that he was willing to wait on people that may be eating (and critiquing) his food speaks volumes about his personality. What a wonderful hidden gem in North Providence. The feel of this place is so quaint with all the small separate rooms. You feel like you're having an intimate dinner no matter where you are in the building. If you're looking for outside seating, bar atmosphere, family time, or a larger family gathering this place has it. We started with the house calamari appetizer and it was delicious. All three meals that came to our table were fantastic! Our waitress was fantastic, even gave us a tour of the building. Manager came over to check and see if everything was OK. We should have turned around right at the hostess counter when it took several minutes and multiple employees walking past our party to be seated. The restaurant was dead, with a few parties sat around us. The meal was awful from start to finish. Server was frazzled, didn't know anything at all about the menu. We ordered burgers and they ran out of all bread except white bread. With 2 pages of sandwich options on the menu, you ran out of every single type of bread except white? My husband ordered the same drink twice, didn't come out the same twice ($15 a pop). Martini rim was chipped enough to cut your lip on. Burgers came out without bacon (on the white toast) and we informed the server of the missing bacon. He came back with a plate of bacon that had been sitting under a heat lamp for probably a week. Ordered dessert, wrong dessert was brought out (with a chunk missing) ($9 a slice). Server brought out the correct dessert but at that point we just wanted to leave. We didn't even finish the stale slices. In the end we got to pay the entire bill, all $130 of it:) short apology from the server about the bad experience but no attempts to fix the situation. Just bad all around. We thought it couldn't possibly get worse and it just kept disappointing. Don't spend your money here. read more

Well my wife and I decided to invite our friend to dinner and we decided to come here. Well, a friend ordered the chicken masala into our surprise and hers. There was half of an egg shell in the dish. It was disgusting to say the least so whoever posted they found objects in their food and drink I would believe them. It's sad because we live in the town and we patronize all the restaurants we can, but this one we will never return not to mention it took forever to get the food, it's sad because the gentleman who owns the place did a beautiful job. This was my first time having dinner here, and I must say that I had a great experience. The ambiance, music, staff, and food made for a wonderful evening. Emily was my server, and she was everything you could want in a server. She was attentive, kind, personable, knowledgeable, and courteous. She is truly an asset to this restaurant, and deserves this recognition. As for the food, it was delicious. I had the Tuscan ravioli, which was very filling and tasty. Atmosphere was great, service friendly and quick, and we all enjoyed our meals. Pretzels for appetizer were warm and had perfect amount of salt. Peachy Sangria was a perfect level of sweetness. I ordered Balsamic chicken dinner, hubby ordered French Dip, and kids ordered pasta and meatballs. My daughter doesn't usually eat the meatballs at places but tried it and liked it. Would give it five stars but walking in with all the different places to go was a little confusing for a first timer. This was my first time coming with my boyfriend and we had a great time! We live close by and always drove right past. Well I'm glad we found this gem. We had an amazing time. We actually sat outside in the back which was great. They had a live band which was great. The ambience great. Our waitress Yolanda I highly recommend her she actually gave us a tour of the whole restaurant and different rooms. She was great the whole time made us laugh and felt welcomed!!! I had pretty high expectations for this place as I have a couple friends who rave about it and the outside exterior is so cute! Unfortunately, my two experiences here were disappointing to say the least. While the inside is nicely decorated, the restaraunt consists of a maze of small rooms - a set up that just doesn't work especially at busy times or for larger parties. We were seated in an alcove by the window and I felt very cramped the whole time. The server was less than personable: he talked and moved so fast it was clear he was just trying to get to all of his tables. The food was OK and nothing to write home about. Will I come back? I literally live right up the street and this should've been a nice experience and addition to the neighborhood. The complete opposite occurred. Open Table should drop them. We have been 3 times since the opening. Once late night, once Sunday afternoon in the pub, and once on a Friday night for dinner in the Cafe. Enjoyed all. The flatbreads are yummy, the burgers delic as well as the entrees. Each area has its own personality. And each is stunning! High ceilings with the most beautiful light fixtures. Decor is important but if the food doesn't match up then it doesn't work. Here it all works. We have also been very impressed with the staff. They are friendly and courteous. The wine list seems well thought out and is reasonably priced. I am so happy to find a nice spot close to home that we can go for a sandwich or a late night drink or coffee. So far we have not tried the deserts as too full but they did look inviting. Try this place - it won't disappoint. Everyone from the owners to the waitstaff go out of their way to please. read more

What happened to Tumblesalts? This used to be one of my favorite spots, especially for brunch. My past several experiences have been negative. The brunch menu now is very heavy, random dishes (like eggs Benedict with potato skins). I asked for just scrambled eggs and toast and was told no because they want to limit their menu. Then the waiter proceeded to tell me I can order any of their other lunch or dinner options- the menu was several pages long. Made no sense. It's a shame because this place is beautiful inside. Came here at a random time with about 20 people between wedding ceremony and reception. Pub wasn't open, restaurant would have been disruptive (in our opinion) for the other diners, and it was too cold to sit in wedding attire on the outside patio. I recently took my husband there after a good experience with a friend and unfortunately I did not have the same experience. We sat in the tavern section and waited quite a while for our server to greet us. After several minutes of waiting we overheard the manager telling a patron that the bar tender walked out and quit just moments prior. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and stayed. The service was terrible and the manager did not do anything to help the remaining staff. I chalked up the bad experience to a bad night and decided to give it one more try. Unfortunately the service was just as bad the last time I went with a friend. There is only one person the tavern section who takes care of the entire bar and all of the tables. She was visibly overwhelmed and it took over 25 minutes to get our drink. I figured the third time is the charm... But there will not be a forth! read more

Horrible experience. The waiter spilled water all over my dad, brought cold coffee multiple times and had no idea any of what he was doing was wrong. To make matters worse, our omelettes were the tiniest omelettes we've ever had, and the eggs were not fully cooked. A manager came over, had nothing to say, rudely said "sorry we can't please everyone" gave us the bill and walked away. This place is so hard to describe brilliantly, so you should just go for yourself and enjoy the amazing ambiance, impeccable service, and mouth-watering food. First time going, and it won't be my last. I had the Maryland crab cakes for an appetizer, which was a great choice because I'm not a big seafood-eater. The bourbon steak tips were only under $20 and absolutely delicious. Father's day, last minute, looking for a place at 10:00am , I remembered this place, as we head been too the pub downstairs another time and thought we'd try it out. We were thrilled to find them not full yet, no wait, we got a table outside, beautiful weather, beautiful spot. A gentleman came right over, set us up with place settings, not sure if he is the owner or manager, very nice man. The waitress took a little longer than I would've liked to come over and ask about drinks, but given the day I can forgive that. Nice breakfast choices, we head the hash which was very good, and had to try the pigs in a blanket with Maple cream sauce on the side...very yummy. Breakfast came out very quick, and everything was as ordered. Overall a great breakfast. This is a hidden gem, if you can find it, just outside of centerdale. Found this while reading a poster about jazz player Steve Burke who had this on his schedule. (He wasn't playing this day though) There was more than ample parking in front of and in the rear of the building with easy access either way. The building contains at least three separate venues of a pub, cafe, and dining room with a couple of other rooms used for events and seasonal openings. The manager, Eddie was helpful in explaining the layout and functions and he was very motivated about his position. The server, Beth, was extremely helpful and explained the menu and specials carefully and answered all of our questions. I ordered a pre dinner martini and it was ok. I tried for a Gibson but was informed there were no cocktail onions. Fair enough. My wife ordered the chicken parm and I got the chicken Francaise. Mine was very good and it came with a choice of penne or linguini. I got the linguini. The sauce was great and the chicken was great. My wife was slightly disappointed about the parm crust on the chicken but overall was satisfied and even more so with her limoncello dessert. The waitstaff was at least 5 stars including Beth and Eddie. It's worth going back to and I would. read more
