This place was really welcoming, I especially enjoyed the beautiful chandelier and absolutely stunning glass mosaic lamps. The menu is limited but, features all the basics you'd expect from any Mediterranean/Greek-centric location (Hummus, Pita bread, Grilled Meat, etc.). I was pretty bummed at the lack of Turkish-based cuisine, specifically Pides (boats/pies) and Gozleme...if you know, you know. I was equally bummed that a few of the dishes appear misnamed and/or mis-priced -- I got the mixed vegetables but only got a plate of pickles for $9?? -- still confused about this one. Almost perfect, I was weary of all the bad reviews, almost wrote this off, but my wife insisted, glad she did. Food was excellent, ambiance was nice, music great. We started with the babaganoush, very creamy delicious hummus with nice spices, some nice heat by some type of pepper sauce, the freshly baked bread went well with the order. For our entrees, the wife had the Bursa Eskender, she said it was really delicious, the meat was juicy and soft, she loves the rice, but the yogurt was a little on the too much side, but overall very good. I had the beef and chicken combo tons I'd great protein, delicious rice, and side hummus, also came with a pickled red cabbage and some type of onion slaw,,the servings on our plate very generous. And to wrap things up we had Turkish coffee which was very flavourful with some Kunefe, which was a very nice surprise, lots of cheese and honey and the shredded wheat was a nice crunchy touch. Now some if the cons, that are heavily mentioned in other reviews. The waiter service is a bit slow, but was not terrible or at a frustrating point for us, but they do need to work on a system. They automatically add the 18% Service fee, plus are really adamant about having a tip, I gave in and added an extra 10 dollars, service was not bad, and food was wonderful. And yes you do have to pay for your bottled water, lol But in the end the wife and I had a great evening, and that's all that mattered to me. read more

I recently went to Turkish cafe again with a large group of about 15 people, and was not happy with the service and the set menu/pricing that they offered. For groups larger than 5, they charge $35 if you sit outside on the upper deck, and $45 per person if you sit near the DJ and the dance floor. What I did not like about this experience was that this was not clearly communicate to our party at arrival. Mixed with lots of shock and confusion, we settled for the set menu and prices. What I did not like is that some members did not plan on eating this evening, but they were required to spend money for food anyway. My friend who only wanted to come to get a couple of drinks was forced to pay the $35 and was even told that if she did not want to eat here then they can pack her food to go. The dips they brought were actually delicious, the entree of the beef kabob was mid and took too long for it to come out. Some members of the group received their food 15-20 minutes earlier than the rest of the group so it made it awkward to eat first, but if they did not then their food would get cold. The most frustrating part is that the water is not free. They do not even offer tap water. We all bought the $3 water bottle and after dancing, we were parched but no one wanted to buy another water after the set menu debacle. I had water in my car, I even considered running out in the rain and bringing in my water bottle. The only plus side to their experience was the atmosphere with the belly dancers and the DJ. We had a good night dancing celebrating our friend turning 27, but other than that I would not come here again with a party larger than 5. I used to love this place when they had a belly dancer. Tonight was some sort of fixed price meal for $45 each person and included a dance show. The place was empty and the bill was $210 for 2 people w no alcohol and one hookah. The regular belly dancing is MUCH BETTER than the theme night. It was a let down. Empty, and not anything like what I remember from visits about a year ago. I hope they have regular belly dancing nights again. This was disappointing and not worth the price. read more

We ordered the platters for 4, so several meat options (the best and most flavorful was the gyro meat and grilled chicken . I would skip on ordering the lamb and beef kabobs. Portion size was also on the smaller side. We came on a night for Turkish/Kurdish, live music and lots of people dancing. There is multi level upper and lower patios, with the option to smoke hookah. Well ventilated if you don't prefer the smoke like myself. They serve great tea or you can have Turkish coffee and desert as well. read more

So many time before we got our food we considered just leaving. And really, we should have. When you order anything the waiter will say "hold on" and run to the kitchen to see if they can make it. Nope, they can't. Order something else. We almost said "just forget it" and left about 2 or three times and now I wish we had. We ordered fried cauliflower which was not our first or second choice. And it was exactly what they said. Fried cauliflower. That's it. No seasoning. Not even a little bit of salt. Prior to this I didn't think you could mess up cauliflower. They proved me wrong. We also got the pide with ground beef. It was actually good. When I paid it asked if I wanted to leave a custom tip or no tip. The confusing part is that a custom tip doesn't customize your tip. It adds on to the tip they already added to the meal. So I ended up paying 38% tip for bad food. I hope they enjoy that money because that is the last penny this horrible place will ever get from me. read more

But man oh man, came here for a birthday party where there was a set menu of $45 per person plus mandatory gratuity and what a disaster. The restaurants inability to manage a larger group is clear. I've never seen a restaurant struggle so drastically with a party. The waiter was soooooo rude and entitled, it was like we were doing him a favor. I sat and saw people in the party wait for their food for literally HOURS. HOURS. The server demanded that people order food even if they didn't want to "you're being charged $45 regardless so if you don't want to order that's up to you, you're still getting charged $45) and then 2 hours later, there's no entree! And I saw guests ask the waiter and his support team guy multiple times- hey- where's my food? Where's my food? The birthday boy's sister never even got her meal. So did a girl in front of me and she just ordered the grilled vegetables. All of that is one issue, but considering how rude the server was on top of all of that, is just way too much. Me and my husband ended up paying $230 including our tip. I have no idea what other people ended up paying- but I could've come with a group of four and had a much better experience with the service and paid less than that. I understand they tried to make the birthday guy pay for every guest who didn't show up? Don't ever, ever, have a party here and don't GO to a party here. If you're invited, ask the host to change venues. They just have no idea what they're doing when it comes to a large group. read more

First time here today. The food was good in our case: fresh, warm, great flavors. Service was ok; there were misunderstandings about the timing of dishes, but we can get over that. My problem is with the business practices here. There was indeed a clear sign at the door that they charge 3% for using a credit card; which ok, we were there already so whatever. But this is not customary for a restaurant experience in Frisco. But hey at least they tell you upfront. What they don't tell you up front is that they automatically charge 20% tip for a party of 2. So basically doesn't matter if you're happy with the service or food; gotta pay it regardless. The other issue was I was charged for an alcoholic drink where I had none. I ordered a Virgin Turkish Mule that was supposed to be $13. The alcohol version I guess is $18. But here's the kicker they charged us an alcohol tax. What? So yes be prepared to be nickle and dimed. Again not customary of Frisco restaurants. We pointed out the mistake, they voided the first charge and gave us a new one to reflect the virgin drink correctly. I pointed out the alcohol tax and the server said it won't be on the second corrected one. Ok. So we paid. And when we got the copy, there was still an alcohol tax on there; smaller, but an alcohol tax nonetheless. So again, more and more hidden fees and taxes for something we didn't even have! Food was good but not THAT good. If you want to compete with Frisco restaurants, show your customers some appreciation through a minimum of standard business practices. We chose to support other restaurants from now on. Not coming back. I wanted customers to see this! The nice words of a manager or owner won't change the situation, so please be informed! I'm very disappointed the way they charged the service fee and they didn't bring the bill just gave me the machine to swipe the card and I added the tip on top. When the charge seemed high, I asked for a bill and saw $10 service charge and $5 I topped. So for $30 food I payed $15 in tips. Then they brought bottled water without even asking for preference which was $3 each small bottle. This is a ripoff and on top of that the food was average. Never going back. read more

I went to this place with a group of 6 people environment looked nice but the service was horrible we ordered 2 hookahs after an hour and a half waitress told us they didn't have any. We ordered food waitress told us to order now the kitchen was back up so we ordered the food never came till 11:30 we went there at 9:30 we ordered tea they did bring tea 5 minutes before we left but without cups. The waitress was rude just hustling to get as many tables as she could. We paid for an appetizer and left. Never going to this place again. Very unorganized and bad customer service. read more

Lamb chops are my go to here. I've came here 5 times now and the food and hookah never disappoints. The customer service for African Americans is extremely poor. I've noticed each time I've came servers will completely disregard our table and ensure other tables are tended to. My many guest who have came with me have also noticed the difference in treatment. I usually tip and tonight decided not to based on my observations. An additional gratuity charge for $26 was still forced for the poor customer service. Problem: this place forced you to pay 18% service charge with terrible service. Also, food was way over price on some of the dishes. If you want more bread, it will be another $2.50. The place also don't have tap water and the waiter will force you to buy 3 dollars per bottle of water. I ordered 40 dollars of food but pay 10 dollars of water and 9 dollars of tips and 5 dollars of tax. Walked out with 33% more then the food price. I been to high end places where this kind of service worth this kind of cost i.e. the French room, Abacus, Nobu, just to name a few... this place definitely nowhere near that level. read more

The busar iskender is absolutely incredible!! Must try. Their Turkish tea is so smooth and tasteful. We love the atmosphere here and can't wait to visit Turkey.
