this place was great, ive always wanted to go here but am hesitant to try new things. but this place was def worth it and we will continue to go here. we ordered the app platter-- you HAVE to order this is perfect and everything is very good. falafel was so good, ive never had them with so much flavor. the feta pide was amazing-- salty and you can taste every herb in it. grilled salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned would highly rec this. the kebabs were very good too. will def go back and try more things, the atmosphere was very nice quiet, the waiters were very attentive always refilling the water and dinks, and clearing the dishes when we finished. read more

Stumbled upon this place while viewing some apts in Sunnyside, Queens which is a hidden gem I never realized in itself. Anyway, I was very impressed with the cuisine here (that's right, I said cuisine...not food). I ordered the Kofte Kebab...a platter of 4 what I like to call "lambergers" served on a bed of soft white rice, salad, and pickled veggies. I rarely order lamb dishes, but found myself having to eat every morsel on my plate. To complete the Turkish Delight, I had a Turkish beer: "Efes" on the side which I enjoyed as well. My 5 friends who I ate with were equally satisfied with their dishes as well! Definitely check this place out and I'm sure you'll be just as impressed. read more

I've been coming here for 6 years. Turkish Grill has something for everyone. My 92 year old father loves it, he has the shrimp casserole or a pide. We always start with sigara borek, they are so good dipped in the lebni. I have brought people here who have never had Turkish food and now come here as well. We have had numerous birthdays and parties here. The owners and staff are super friendly. I love the lamb chops, chicken kebab, shepherd salad, falafel, hummus, stuffed cabbage, and the bulgur and the fresh baked bread are awesome. Possibly my new favorite restaurant! I went with a group and we shared the mixed appetizer (served with warm Turkish pita and olive oil) and a bunch of kebabs. Everything was delicious and top notch...we all had a different favorite. Just go with a group and order an assortment. I went to the Turkish Grill for dinner last night. I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door to the moment that I left. The decor and music were warm and inviting, as were the staff. I began my meal with the mixed appetizer, which was a plate of six appetizers. The ingredients were fresh as well as flavorful. The tabulah was my favorite. I contemplated ordering a second mixed app for my entree, but went with my server's recommendation instead: the special beyti kebab. The meat was tender and tasty, and the portion was very generous. I finished my meal and was presented with a dessert menu, from which I ordered the baklava and Turkish coffee. The sweet baklava complemented the coffee very nicely. I have eaten at other Turkish restaurants in NYC, and this one is my new favorite. I will definitely return for another meal! read more

I'm a fan of this restaurant. The food is consistently good. I love their kebobs, the meat has so much flavor. I wish I knew what they use as marinade for the meat. Last Saturday, I came home from a long day at school very hungry and grouchy. My fiancee and I couldn't decide where to eat so we thought we'd give Turkish Grill a try. We were not disappointed. the restaurant only had one table available when we walked in, which made me a bit nervous that the it would be a long wait for our food to be prepared. Once we ordered, we were served this delicious warm flat bread with seasoned olive oil. Our meals were in front of us about 10 minutes after! I had this amazing dish of ground chicken over garlic croutons with a yogurt sauce. My fiancee had this awesome chicken kebab plate. There was so much food on the plate, but it was so delicious that neither of us wanted to stop eating. We went for lunch special and it took 45 minutes for food to arrive. They only had one waiter and the other waiter was just pouring water. We asked for coffee and it never came. Honestly, this place is way too busy for lunch special, they should consider having more than just one waiter and better service. Having seen the positive ratings in Zagat and Yelp, my wife and I decided to have dinner there. The restaurant was very clean and modern. There was a romantic atmosphere: dim lights, candles at each table and soft conversations. We tried the Sigara Borek for the appetizer and the Mixed Grill and Homemade Manti for entrees. We enjoyed each dish and were pleased with pretty much everything. The waiter was very nice and helpful in explaining dishes. In addition, I tried Efes (Turkish beer) for the first time. I was not impressed the first time I came because I ordered the Adana kebab meal which looked like a microwaved patty. The second time however, I had the lamb chop and shish kebab platter which was delicious :) The prices are the only thing that keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars. I think they have lunch specials during the week but to those that can only make it during the week or dinner time, you're looking at $20-$25 a dish. read more

Just had a fabulous dinner here. Ordered baba ganoush, stuffed grape leaves and felafel appetizers. The baba gaboush was excellent. The felafel was delicious and the accompanying tahini sauce was wonderful. The stuffed grape leaves were particularly good- stuffed with rice and raisins - tasted homemade. Found on a whim and was a huge win! Got home made iced tea that seemed to have a hint of jasmine which was very refreshing. We started with a small Mediterranean salad to share between the 2 of us as a starter which was colorful and delicious, would definitely order again as a meal. My sister then had a chicken Adana yogurtlu which was out of this world. Warning: very garlicky. I am not typically a supporter of the phrase "awesome sauce" but I am allowing my self to use it in this instance because it is the only way to describe the tomato butter and yogurt sauce on the yogurtlu. I had the half adana kababs and half shish kababs, both were very good and well cooked. In addition, the bread was warm and definitely fresh. I love everything about this place, from the entrees to the wines! I've been eating here for years and I have never been let down. Freshly baked bread, hummus, lebni, yogurtlu, cherry juice, tabbouleh, and my fav dish the Lamb Saute! Before I start explaining why I'm only giving this restaurant three stars, let me just say this: food here = delicious. The reason for my low rating is the miscommunication I had while ordering my lunch. For starters, I had a very difficult time communicating my order to the lady who picked up the phone. Right after I placed my order, she hung up immediately, right as I began to ask her whether or not they take card. I placed an order for a party of four people to go, and realized AFTER I picked it up and got back to the office that parts of my order were missing. Half the party ended up still hungry after finishing the food they did get, and they had to go out to get snacks to replace what would have been the rest of their meals. However, when I called the restaurant to inquire about the missing portions of the order, they were very friendly about it and agreed to make up for it. The food, on the other hand, was extremely rich and flavorful; it was so good I had almost completely forgotten about my unpleasant experience moments before. I had the chicken kebob entree and I have never had such tender chicken bursting with flavor. There were so many different flavors on my platter, both familiar and foreign, but everything mixed so nicely together. I've only had Turkish food a few times before this and never really thought much about it, but this might just very well be my new go-to. I definitely recommend this restaurant; I can't say much about dining in but if you do plan to take out, use GrubHub (or any other online ordering service offered) or just order in person. read more

I've eaten here a couple of times, and both times I've found the food to be very good. Last Monday I was there for an early dinner. The service was good - attentive but not in-your-face (which I hate), and the food was really good. I had the baba ganoush to start, which had a lovely smoky flavour and was delicious. My friend had mixed pickles (why, Jason, WHY? But he liked them). Then I had the lamb sauté, and he had the Iskender Kebab, which is described on the menu as "doner kebab served over fried pide bread with a fresh tomato sauce on top and a healthy portion of fresh yogurt." Maybe it's because I live in London that the words 'doner kebab' strike terror into my heart, because the doner I'm familiar with is a vertical spit of mystery meat, made up of slurry and entrails, and is only eaten by drunks on their way home from the pub. Well, this doner kebab could not have been more different - it was slices of succulent lamb, delicately spiced, wrapped in a light pastry. I wish I'd ordered it, and will do so next time. I must also add that the bread, hot and fluffy from the oven, is the best bread I've ever eaten, it was absolutely delicious. We were too full to try dessert. read more

Three had the chicken kabobs and two the shish kabobs which are really tender lamb. All were delicious. The lunch menu offers a choice of soup, salad or an appetizer and coffee/tea included. I am very disappointed with my order. I ordered a Shawarma sandwich and a Baklava to go. The Shawarma sandwich is $2 more expensive than Mamouns in ST. Mark's Place, I didn't mind because I was so hungry. The meat is so dry, unseassoned and the bread is cold. Turkish Grill was once a winner. But no longer. The quality of the entrees is now inconsistent. Service tends to be indifferent. And the noise from the recorded music being played is so loud that it is a fight to hear what your fellow diners are saying. Two requests to lower the volume proved fruitless.
