My family had our first experience at the Turning Point for breakfast this morning. We had heard good things, and admit that the food was delicious. However, there appeared to be some oversights with regard to cleanliness one of which was the lipstick on the coffee cup rim. read more

Tried this place the other day .my waitress was very nice and attentive. The coffee was good. I ordered the juevos rancheros . The eggs were cooked well , but that's it. It couldn't be anything further from juevos rancheros. A plate with a large flour tortilla on top the eggs a scoop of salsa sour cream and about 12 black beans and cubed potatoes that I'm pretty sure we're the frozen kind zero flavor . Couldn't be more disappointed . Truly a pathetic attempt. Try Raymond's in Montclair or ridgewood NJ if you want to experience this dish done properly. read more

Stopped by here for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised with this place. Plenty of tables and a comfortable restaurant setting (including a fireplace) were a welcome sight. The French press coffee and stuffed French toast were both delicious, completing my happy, sunny Saturday morning. You don't get much better breakfast/brunch/lunch place than the Turning Point. I've been to this location in my hometown, the one in Pier Village in Long Branch and the one in Hoboken. Brick lacks the views of Pier Village, but their service, quality of food and relatively quick wait times are awesome. The Hoboken location needs an upgrade - its sloppy and dirty. TP's specials make each visit unique, and they also have a rewards card for frequent diners. Come alone and sit at the counter for the same great food and service. Don't tell my mom, but sometimes I only come home on the weekends to see my dog and eat here. read more

This place is excellent for breakfast. Just recently visited this cozy place (feels like you're in a home) for Sunday breakfast. The KONA coffee was amazing. I can never drink black coffee because of it's sourness, but this is the 1st time I was ever able to drink it because it was THAT good. The food is simply as good as it gets. The lobster benedict is wonderful. The sauce can be a little more flavorful but it is cooked just right. The fruits are fresh and so is everything else. The service is good and the menu has something for everyone. The portions are just right, not too little, and not too much where you need a doggie bag. Prices are reasonable. Lunch is also great here as well. Looks like they worked on a perfect menu that offers something for everyone. read more

On our last visit my girlfriend went in to get us a table and I ran in to the store next to it to pick something up. My girlfriend was told they would not seat us until I was there so she was prepared to wait when another customer was seated as one of a party of two. When my girlfriend confronted the hostess about it, the hostess was rude and did a poor job of explaining her self. At which point my girlfriend called me and I decided that we would no longer dine at the Turning Point again! Good food does not make up for poor service! read more

Let me start by saying that the food at the Turning Point is fantastic. But unfortunately it's nothing compared to how incompetent some of the staff is. Being a party of five I know that the wait will be longer, however while waiting for our table we were watching two hostesses stand behind a counter, texting, while there were multiple open tables unbussed. Being in the restaurant industry I know that their job is to help the waitresses along, and since there were two of them this shouldn't have been a problem. But neither one of them picked up a single plate off any table. On top of that, I watched them turn a large round table that can fit at least six into a four person table and sit two or three people on them while tables that can sit four go unseated. I went to the bathroom and I saw a bunch of servers and what seemed like a manager just chatting casually in the kitchen. Like nothing more important is going on, like their company isn't losing business. We ended up waiting 1 hour and 20 mins when we were told 45 mins to an hour. This establishment is totally unorganized. Not once did I see a manager come around and help or anyone trying to make sure things are running smoothly. I can say that after we sat, our server did very well and again the food was phenomenal, but they need to get their front end on the same level. We came on January 1st and If their goal for 2015 is for this to be their best year ever, they are probably not going to succeed. read more

Pro tip 2: they have little cups of cereal for kids and milk for coffee...get a coffee cup and add several little cups of cereal and milk together for a free cup of cereal while you wait. Food and service was very good. However, the hostess first wanted to put us in a long, dark non descriptive row of tables for two right away. I told her no, then she reluctantly gave us a table in the beautiful atrium. In my opinion, that should have been the first offering for seating, especially when the restaurant wasn't full. read more

Get here in between the breakfast and lunch rush on a weekday and you'll have the place almost to yourself. But any time you come, the food is delicious and incredibly creative and unique. The eggs Benedict are probably the best I've had anywhere. I have only had one visit during which the service wasn't exceptional, and even then it wasn't bad, just ordinary. Very clean environment with a bright, cheerful, and elegant ambience. read more

Great joint! I'm a huge fan of the french press coffee. If you're a coffee lover, like I am, your destiny is to go to Turning Point for the french press. The service is great; it's a really good spot to check out. I've been here multiple times in the last two months. Turning Point is one of my favorite places to get breakfast/brunch. I usually get the Tuscany Omelette, filled with sausage and mozzarella cheese - yum! I've also had the Grande Huevos Rancheros and it is probably the greatest thing you can get if you're hungry enough! This particular visit, I got the bananas foster waffle. It was really good at first, bananas with rum sauce on top of fluffy goodness. Unfortunately it got sickly sweet after a while, though I don't blame TP for that. Next time though, I'll stick with the Rancheros! read more

I had the key west shrimp omelette which came with an english muffin and breakfast potatoes or a choice of a side salad. I ordered the potatoes and english muffin with mine. The omelette was really good, especially with the shrimp, bacon and avocado. The breakfast potatoes were undercooked so I couldn't really enjoy them but I would definitely go back just for the omelette. read more

I absolutely love the Turning Point. I come almost every week now. I am so happy that I was able to find a place that takes such pride in their drinks. Lots of great stuff on the menu. Usually there are 1-2 things on a menu that I really want to try, but I wanted to try almost everything here. There's a wide variety of things from dessert-like pancakes or french toast to lower calorie options. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito with quinoa that was delicious. Everyone at the table loved their order. The Unlimited Gourmet Coffee for $2.40 is a good deal, it tasted great and they leave the pot on the table and give you a to-go cup. This and any of the other TP's around the shore are probably your best bet for breakfast, brunch or lunch around. A great array of beverages, especially coffees and full compliment of fine teas, juices, etc. and traditional "eggs your way", to the more exotic lobster Benedict, omelets, combinations, pancakes, waffles and sandwiches are sure to please the whole family. Comfortable and well designed dining areas, typically efficient and friendly service combine to make all the TP's around a sure bet. During the summer weekends and holiday crowds can be a turnoff if you're not willing to wait around or in line for a half hour or more, but even then, if you want a great menu to choose from and a spotless upscale brunch, you won't be disappointed. A few bucks more than the diner, and worth it. read more

Call ahead seating worked well and the waitress greeted us soon after we sat down. She took our order for 6 (3adults & 3children) and our drinks took a bit longer than most other restaurants but not that big of a deal. However waiting 50 minutes for our breakfast to arrive was a joke and to boot two of the orders were not accurate. We did enjoy the atmosphere and French press coffee however the poor service and long food delivery brings my rating from a 4 star to a 2 star. A friend said it was the best omlet he ever had! I like omlets, so I went there. it was about 8 a.m. on a weekday, not many folks, server was well trained, had studied the manual. I paid for (inclued in the overall price) for a pitcher of bottled water which I did not touch, so it was a waste, and the pictcher had to be washed, more waste. I've had better food at lots of places around the Ocean County area. "Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there". They would not take my Discover card, this also cost me money. Food is great, but the hosts have no sense of time management. We come in to a 25 minute wait, yet multiple parties were sat before us even after we complained about it saying that there were still parties ahead of us. unhappy campers for sure. read more

I'm not convinced by New Jersey's obsession with The Turning Point. First off, no mimosas? Automatically a three star rating for a brunch establishment. The food and coffee here are wonderful. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Really like anyplace that offers soup and half a sandwich. Service was friendly and our server checked frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. The decor is relaxing and clean. The restrooms are very clean. The one in brick is good. However they really need to offer dairy free alternatives for milk. I would have loved one of their speciality drinks but couldn't order one since they don't offer a dairy free milk. They have a great gluten free menu however they do not serve gluten free bread. So if you wanted a turkey sandwich it would just be turkey in a plate. I had the chicken salad and it was delicious. Please offer gf bread. I'd be back a lot more. read more

Turning Point is a good place to have breakfast if you don't want to diner it. Fresh fruit, Avocado toast and lovely healthy options, too! My only complaint is the lack of waiting area. When you walk in the door, you're normally greeted with a pack of people crammed in the foyer and hostess station-it's overwhelming. There's usually a 20-30 minutes wait, so make sure you try and call ahead. read more

We were back in New Jersey visiting family and we tried going to the Turning Point last time but it was too busy but this go around we not only ate there once but did it twice and had a great experience both times. I'd recommend going during the weekday as the weekend lines can get pretty long. Great selections of breakfast foods as well as lunch items and the prices are very reasonable too. Got here at 9:30 and they were packed. Was seated in less than 15 minutes. I had the plain waffle which was crisp outside and fluffy inside served with warm maple syrup and a side of delicious crispy bacon. My husband had the healthy omelet which was egg whites, shredded spinach, tomatos, and goat cheese, served with crispy potatos and a side of fresh fruit. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. Everyone was friendly. Would definately go back. read more
