I've been to The Turning Point of Princeton several times now, and always over the weekend. My visit last Saturday was one of the most solid breakfast experiences I've had in recent memory. We did not have to wait for a 9am table for two, and were promptly seated by a pleasant and attentive waitress. If I had to use one word to describe The Turning Point, it would easily be "meticulous". Everything they do is exact and organized, without being rigid or mechanical. Our orders were fulfilled quickly with zero mistakes, and the quality of the food was stellar. The servers even announce themselves and call out "corner" when rounding corners. Another thing that I really appreciate was how reliably they accommodate my lactose intolerance and other food sensitivities. I do not feel like I have to dance around asking about ingredients -- the servers know exactly what they are doing. At the end, I did not get hurt by my food. Cool. I understand that my recent visit is most likely a "good case", as the place is known to be crowded during brunch time, which can create a lot of anxiety when the group of people congregated near the front threatens to burst out the door. I've been in seemingly "ok cases" (some waiting) and "bad cases" (significant waiting). No matter the case, the food is well made with no mistakes, and the staff is nice and attentive. My experiences at The Turning Point have always been positive ones. Good food, good order fulfillment, and good overall atmosphere. read more

This is an interesting concept but the restaurant was dismally understaffed. We arrived and there were no tables inside so we opted to sit outside, since it was a nice day. Water was brought to the table fairly quickly but it took a while for our waitress to come and to bring us drinks. All of us ordered a combo and two meals came out five minutes before the other two. The food was ok, but kind of expensive for what you get. I am not certain I would come back, as neither the service nor the food was remarkable. read more

That saying, don't judge a book by its cover definitely applies here! Situated in a strip mall, I could NEVER have imagined I would have the awesome experience I had by their appearance alone. I traveled to Turning Point from south jersey recently for a friend's birthday brunch. Impressed does not even begin to describe my experience here. Once you get past the standard strip mall facade, you are greeted by a large, brightly lit dining space, much larger than it appears from the outside. There is both a counter with seating, and actual tables. We arrived during the prime Sunday brunch rush at 11am, so we did have to wait about 30 min for a table, even though we did call ahead seating for our party of 5. I didn't mind the wait tho, as they offer complimentary coffee for those waiting, which is a awesome gesture! We took advantage of the available coffee cups and popped open one of our bottles of bubbly (it's BYOB) to enjoy while we waited! Once we were finally seated, we were warmly greeted by our server. And from the time we sat down, until we left he was on top of everything for us. Their food is gourmet level good. If they haven't been on Diners, drive-ins & dives, they need to be! I ordered the Southern Chicken & Waffles, which is definitely up there as one of the best meals I've ever eaten. A perfect combo of savory & sweet. Everyone else in my party loved their meals as well, and we all agreed we had to come back to try more on the menu! Pretty popular brunch spot in Princeton. The weekend brunch wait time can get close to an hour. The popularity is indicative of how good the place is though, so it can be worth the wait. I think the coffee and drinks here are the star the of show. They have a plethora of flavored coffees, teas, hot chocolates, juices and shakes. My favorite is the peanut butter cup hot chocolate. It's literally like liquified Reese's. Insanely good. The breakfast items are great too. A stand out is the Big Easy Benedict. It's eggs Benedict served on corn bread with a Cajun flavored hollandaise and chicken chorizo. Nice combo between the eggs, hollandaise and the corn bread. Nice portions too. I also like their skillets, the Wilber skillet especially. It's bacon, potatoes, cheese, tomatoes, avocado and two eggs your way. Nice and hearty breakfast but not overly oily and heavy. read more

The food was delicious, the coffee freshly ground, the selection was amazing My son has a dairy allergy which caused him to have a liver transplant at 8 weeks old, when I told April she ensured all of his food was safe and made multiple trips to the kitchen to make sure his food was safe. Turning Point definitely gets a lot of hype in and around the Princeton area. We decided to try out the brunch location for a mother's day breakfast. I have to say, the food did live up to the hype! We had frozen hot chocolate, the OMG French toast, a Wilbur skillet, Huevos rancheros, and the eggs Benedetto. This is a very popular location, so food did take a little while to come out. However, everything was fresh, cooked perfectly, and definitely exceeded expectations. All eggs were cooked to perfection, and all the flavors that were combined in different dishes were phenomenal. The OMG French toast came with a dollop of marscapone and was topped with bacon that alone was a PERFECF meal!! We will be coming back to try a few new items next time! read more

My mom and I came from out of town to spend some time in the Princeton area this past weekend. I was a little underwhelmed by the outside appearance of the place as it is in a strip mall but inside, it's cute and the staff was very friendly. Kind of reminded me of a place down the shore. Their menu isn't huge but they have a good selection. My mom got the lunch combo with a salad and the Jersey club. It came with dijon honey dressing, which was very delicious. I had the GOAT omelette with a side of greens with a lemon dressing and a cold brew with sweet cold foam. Food was simple and delicious. Just what we wanted. I wish they had a location near us! We were out of groceries and craving avocado toast on Sunday morning, so we found ourselves walking into the Turning Point for breakfast. We were seated immediately, thankfully, and ordered two coffees right off the bat. The place itself is cutely decorated for the holidays with wreaths and ribbons all around the restaurant. After looking at the options, we decided to split 2 separate dishes, The Avocado Toast (which, after looking at this menu, appears to be an appetizer), and the Grande Huevos Rancheros. First off, the Avocado Toast.The description was Avocado Artisan Toast, toasted thick multigrain, plum tomatoes, crushed avocado, lemon zest, EVOO, cracked pepper, and coarse sea salt. I love avocados, and would happily eat them every day for the rest of my life, so I was a little disappointed when the plate came out looking like more like mush, or a version of preserved guacamole, rather than fresh "crushed avocado" that I was expecting. The bread, although advertised as thick multigrain, albeit multigrain, was neither thick nor artisanal. The Huevos were redeeming however. The dish was described as "Our version of the Mexican classic. Diced potatoes, chipotle peppers, chorizo sausage, onions, black beans, cilantro and avocado - loaded onto a wheat tortilla topped with melted mixed cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Plus 3 eggs, any way". It was a massive serving, and we couldn't finish it, but really enjoyed! The jalapeño had a nice kick, and the serving of chorizo was plentiful. One of Princeton's few "classic" brunch places. Love the decor- rustic, country home vibe! The eternal brunch dilemma is the question between sweet or savory entrees. Turning Point makes that decision even harder by succeeding at both types of entrees! I've tried both the pancakes and French toast, both of which decadently satisfy any sweet tooth. When I'm craving savory, I normally get the Wilbur skillet, and substitute the bacon with onions to make it a vegetarian entree. In particular, I love their skillet potatoes- perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Only downside is that service can be slow, even after you are seated and have placed your orders. I'd recommend calling ahead or using Yelp waitlist to reduce your initial waiting time. read more

After being told that the wait time was about 20 mins or so, we waited for over 45 minutes and started noticing that people who came after us are finding their table while we are still waiting. The initial excuse was table for 4 is not ready and other parties were 2 or 3 people. It became really clear when party of 4 walked in and the host started to take them to their table. In fact, the gentleman in that party told the host that we were there and waiting before them. That's when I lost it. I can accept average food or service but not the blatant discrimination. I told them that I have not experienced such a ridiculous racist behavior before and we walked out. Never visiting this place again!! Zero stars even if they are serving the most delicious food because certain things are not acceptable and racist behavior is one of those. read more

Came here to celebrate in-laws' birthdays. Overall the meal was lackluster. Our food came late. A server or manager came out and apologized and offered us fruit or chips and salsa while we waited. They also told us how much longer we'd have to wait. It seems they wait for the entire table's order to be ready before bringing items out. This method does not work well for breakfast foods. Prices are reasonable. We ordered the following: 1. Plain pancakes--decent. Nothing out of the ordinary. 2. chicken pesto sandwich on ciabatta.- not well seasoned chicken. Pesto needed bit more cheese. 3. Vegan pancakes - tasted like regular pancakes (in a good way). Slight sweetness. 4. Pancake flight--overall heavy on the dough, dry around the edges. Great portion of two of each pancake. Présentation was good. à. Lemon blueberry--did not taste any lemon, the topped blueberries were mostly smashed suggesting they were frozen or not well selected. b. Power grain - tasty pancake. The pecan and cranberry topping took away from it. Rexommend ordering without. c. Maple bourbon banana - the syrup was kinda slimy in texture and did not have any hint of bourbon flavor. The cinnamon was evident. 5. Juice flight--yum! All the juices tasted fresh. The presentation of the flight was also neat. Recommend ordering without ice to get more juice. 6. Bacon- the smoky flavor was overbearing and tasted borderline artificial. Like the liquid smoke. I would call it thick cut. It's definitely not scrawny but not quite thick cut either. 7. Side of scrambled eggs. The eggs were a bit dry and crusty from sitting out too long. Tasted like standard eggs. I wouldn't suggest going out of your way to visit here. read more

Place looks good but the food is average. Just wish the Staff receiving the guests were friendlier. People are out and about now and hence restaurants like this one are busier than usual. This somehow has made the staff feel privileged whereby they feel that they are doing a favor to the guests by giving them a table. I really feel that the staff need to be trained to be cordial and welcoming. Almost felt that they looked down upon us as we entered the restaurant because they were busy or maybe they just didn't care. I suppose business must be good for the time being. In my opinion, this is the exact opposite of what the food service industry should be. People come to a restaurant to get good food and good SERViCE. We patrons dine in for the experience. Love this place! This restaurant has an overall bright and sweet decor. Outside patio seats are comfortable too (if you don't mind the traffic sound). It's always fully packed on weekends so I would suggest people to make a reservation beforehand. My boyfriend and I love the drinks and eggs Benedict. I personally am also a big fan of their French toasts and omelette. This place also has great service. It's always easy to find a waiter and get your service. Never disappointed. This is one of the cutest cafes in Lawrence Township! The fireplace and Christmas decorations gave the place a wonderful cozy atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. Couple doors down there's a huge Shoprite I'm willing to bet they had chicken! Today placed a Togo order to bring to the pool surprisingly they had chicken, but GuessWhat no plastic silverware..... so apparently I'm supposed to eat my salad with my hands? Again, Shoprite is right next-door you can't go there and get plastic silverware? Horrible service, horrible customer service no excuses I'm sorry. Will not be visiting this location again! I ordered a chicken sandwich, but only one side was cooked. In addition, we had to ask for our food multiple times and it honestly took about 45 minutes. We were told a 30-40 minute wait- no problem, as there are many shops around the area to pass the time while we waited for our table. We were notified via text that our table was ready a half hour later. Upon being seated, our server gave us waters right away. My friend ordered an iced chai latte and I ordered the chocolate chip shake-a-chino. It took almost 20 minutes to get those two drinks. Starbucks, meanwhile, pumps out dozens of complicated orders within a few minutes. Moving on... On top of the long wait just to get two drinks, it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Our server was kind enough to give us free chips and salsa after about 45 minutes of waiting for food. I appreciated the gesture but would've rather had my entree. When our food did come, my dish was lukewarm at best, although it was still tasty. Listen, I was a server at a Tex-Mex chain next to Sesame Place for years. Our kitchen got overwhelmed often, but the fact that we could pump out a well-done 12oz NY strip steak faster than this place could get out egg dishes is rather telling. Given the sheer number of brunch places in Princeton (and New Hope, Lambertville, etc.) I wouldn't say this place was worth a second try unless coming on a weekday when it's likely dead. read more

First off our server Andy was awesome! So friendly and attentive! We had a group of 5 and all our food came out as we ordered and hot! We tried several different Types of the French press coffee and was so good, and not burnt. I tried the sinful regular and it was great. I also got the basic skillet and it was tasty and filling. I haven't been to a turning point in a while and forgot how good it is! Pricing was spot on for what I ordered. A pretty breakfast/brunch restaurant near the Nassau Blvd shopping center, the Turning Point is a typical breakfast restaurant with average food. Offering the classics from pancakes to eggs benedict, the food here is pretty decent, nothing too horrible, but nothing too special either, but the interior is quite pretty and makes for a nice aesthetic. The location is pretty convenient and easy to find as well. When I came here for breakfast, I had the Iron Man combo, which was pancakes and a veggie-egg white omelet, and while both dishes didn't taste bad necessarily, there wasn't anything particularly eye-catching or exceptional about these dishes. The pancake with a huge lop of butter on it tasted just like your typical pancakes, so for me, nothing about the food itself really stood out. There are a lot of offerings, which was a plus, but they were your basic breakfast combinations, leaving me to wonder if the restaurant could make more flashy, unique dishes for the diner experience. The interior was very well-decorated and spacious. The table layout was perfect for seating a large number of guests, and while I came on a Friday morning, I could easily see the Turning Point accommodating plenty of diners on a busy Sunday brunch. The location between the Bed Bath and Beyond and the ShopRite on Nassau Park Boulevard was very easy to find, and there was plenty of parking in the strip mall parking lot. While I liked the presentation of the restaurant itself, the food was merely adequate, so perhaps visit once for the experience of being at the Turning Point, but there are a few other places in the area that can offer you a more tasty breakfast experience. read more

I've given this place a few chances but I feel like it keeps getting worse! I like the Long Branch location and was pleased to see them open up in Princeton but I won't be going back. I've had eggs that tasted like they were powdered from a mix, soup that was all heavy cream, and fresh orange juice that wasn't fresh at all. It's a nice place with a seemingly nice menu and nice people/servers but I get the feeling they just don't put care into their food. Very sad. read more

Excellent food and service! We were a party of six celebrating with a birthday brunch. We used the waitlist app which allowed us to seamlessly book a spot and avoid any wait time. Seating was quick, waitress was incredibly sweet and service was beyond expectations. We ordered various dishes including the pancake trio (Cinnamon, Choc Chip, Bananas/Walnuts), a frittata, custom omelets, shrimp w/ cilantro & lime rice bowl and a Popeyes skillet. Drinks included a vanilla milkshake, Tropical Sunset smoothie and coffee. Every single dish was delicious. I would describe the food as "healthy" without that buttery, heavy taste you get at diners or chain restaurants. The best part is the pricing which was very fair and transparent.
