I've been here a couple times now and the food has been good both times. I love that they have healthier options that are still creative. I was very impressed with the Power Grain pancakes! Quinoa and flaxseed don't sound like they'd make a fluffy, delicious pancake but they definitely do. Also, the honey granola is really amazing! Unfortunately I have to agree with other reviewers that the hostess staff really don't have it together. On a Sunday, there are as many as 3 employees working the host stand and their communication with each other is lacking. Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We expected a wait so that was fine. A few minutes later a couple came in and spoke to a different host who told them there was a 30 minute wait, but 2 seats had just opened at the bar if they wanted them. I was a little annoyed that we had been waiting longer but they didn't offer us the bar seats. Either way, the other couple declined so we went over and asked for the bar seats. I had high hopes given the restaurant's genuine message about serving fresh, quality breakfast/lunch. I visited Turning Point on Sunday with 3 other guests. We were told there was a 40 minute wait, and were seated 10 minutes later. Bittersweet I suppose. We placed our coffee orders first and proceeded to look at the menu. My 3 companions received their coffees, and I assumed my cappuccino took a little longer to prepare and would arrive shortly. We then placed our food orders. The food arrived, and I still had no coffee. I finally found our waitress and asked her to bring it. This must've been about 25 minutes after I placed the coffee order. She brought it within seconds, and it was ice cold. No apology. I had the Eggs Benedetto, and one of the poached eggs was exploded on the plate. The food was average. A very cute alternative to the usual suburban IHOP brunch, for primarily just a cozier ambiance. Though we went before 11am, there was a moderate Sunday rush and had to wait about thirty minutes for a table. Once seated the service was quick, though a bit abrupt and cold. The menu was more creative than an IHOP type place, but the quality wasn't particularly better, and I think the highish price tags weren't justified. We were a group of five and all tried different dishes. - TRY: I do recommend the blueberry lemon pancakes which were light, big, and subtly flavored (not overly sweet). - SKIP: The pesto infused egg skillet sounds more inspired than its sad reality-- the eggs were mostly flavorless and the accompanying vegetables were sparse and bland; I suggest skipping this despite the intriguing description. We have been here more than a couple of times over the last few years and today was by far the worst. Surprisingly it didn't take long to be seated...I have waited more on busy and house full days but what was strange was there were available tables ( for 2 and more) but people were still asked to wait. Either those tables were not being set up after the previous party had left or this place was short staffed today to keep things moving. It got pretty bad soon enough...we were at the table seated and waiting for our sever for over 10-15 minutes before he finally turned up. He had trouble understanding when we asked for "OJ" but got it the second time. Icing on the cake was when he got us two glasses for water with one clearly still having remnants of either washing liquid or food , in either case not good news. On being asked to replace it he mentioned that their dish washer wasn't working well and something vague about water in Westfield. The glass be replaced was dirty as well. *** I hope turning point Westfield is not going to have sick customers thanks to their bad dishwasher!!!*** As for the food- I don't know if they have new cooking staff in the kitchen but it was def off. I've heard many great things about Turning Point, but I was very disappointed with the food/service. 1. We were told the wait would be a half hour. It took 45 minutes to be seated. We then waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come. 2. We ordered our food when the waitress came to take our drink order, expecting the food to come faster to make up for the ridiculously long wait. We ordered 2 dishes and it took 35 minutes for the food to come to the table. 3. Lemon blueberry pancakes-- I wouldn't even call it that. I would call them "plain pancakes with some blueberries thrown on top and no lemon". The pancakes themselves were good but I wish I got what the menu described. 4. The egg skillet I got was basically partially cooked potatoes, unsauteed mushrooms, peppers and onions with some scrambled eggs thrown on top. I could've made that myself at home. I wish my experience was better because the menu actually looks/sounds really good. Also, no one was sitting at the tables outside when we got there, but there were dirty dishes with food still in them on the tables from earlier customers. When we left 2 hours later THEY WERE STILL THERE. Probably would not come back here. We would've been better off at the diner. read more

The food here is excellent!! I come here often for breakfast and it's great every time. My favorite are the egg skillets, and then I have to have the pancakes too!! Lots of options to choose from. Their coffee is great too, with a lot of speciality drinks. There's a little bit of a wait on the weekends, but their waiting area makes it bearable. Hey, if the food is good then you have to wait. Usually how it is! Our server today was so nice. It's great to see the service up to par with the food. We came here on a Thursday morning when it wasn't to busy. The hostess seated us right away but the waitress didn't show up for about 10-15 minutes which I felt like was a long time. She took our orders and was friendly. I ordered a s'mores hot chocolate and a Popeye skillet with poached eggs and my dad order a coffee and big easy omelet and we order an appetizer of avocado toast. It took 20 minutes for the drinks and appetizer to come. The avocado toast was ok, the avocado to toast ratio was off. The hot chocolate was great and the coffee was fine. The waitress didn't come back with the food for another half an hour. When the food arrived the poached eggs were basic fried eggs and were cold. The rest of the omelette was okay I guess. We asked for the check and left. I don't think that I will be coming back. The only good thing about thus was the hot chocolate and that is what the two stars are for. read more

Turning Point is hit or miss for me depending on what I order. Overall, I appreciate that they have a lot of healthy options on their menu. I've enjoyed their breakfast dishes a lot. The egg-bakes and omelettes are really filling and come in some delicious combinations. I also really like the lemon ricotta pancakes which are served with fresh blueberries. However, I have been disappointed with lunch. Most recently I had the lobster quesadilla which was mostly spinach and had almost no cheese in it. Without any cheese to hold it together my plate quickly became a messy pile of seemingly random ingredients. We were looking for a new breakfast place and found Turning Point on a recent Sunday morning. Despite walking in a little after 9am I was surprised at the crowd and that it would be a 30 minute wait. Nevertheless, there was a generous indoor waiting area (important in the fall gloom), and once called we were efficiently taken care of by our server. The Big Easy Eggs Benedict were amazing; spicy hollandaise, sweet and savory sausage, and perfectly cooked eggs with some very nice home fries on the side. Coffee was good but plentiful and we left feeling well-fueled for the day. Will stop by again the next time we're in Westfield for shopping, but maybe later in the day after the crowds. read more

Tried this place today with one of my friends and it was ok. The wait was about 20 minutes so we went outside to wait in front of one of the stores. Sat down and ordered a tea, friend asked for a coffee, and guy came back with coffee. Awesome. I didn't bother to tell him. Service was so-so. I ordered a Bananas Foster waffle which was yummy. Normally we head to Vicki's when we're craving breakfast food. Today, though, we wanted to try out someplace new. After spotting some interesting menu options at Turning Point, we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is much bigger inside than we'd expected, with multiple dining areas and a bright, inviting atmosphere. We were seated instantly (at 12pm on a Sunday, this was unexpected) and our friendly server came right over to take our beverage order. A pitcher of ice water (with lemon!) and carafe of coffee were brought to the table without delay. So far, so good! But the coffee was weak, and not terribly hot, and the silverware was dirty. Still, I remained hopeful. I decided on the Marsala Eggs Benedict: Sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and onions were placed on a sliced baguette, then topped with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce (this normally has diced bacon on it, too, but I'd asked them to omit that). The vegetables on this were sparse, and the eggs undercooked; I had to scrape a slimy layer of uncooked whites off the top of each one. The hollandaise was on the watery side, and the addition of too much lemon juice made it sour rather than bright. A tiny cup of fruit accompanied this dish, but it didn't look very fresh or appealing. I was pretty disappointed with this dish all around. My other half tried one of the specials, another Benedict: Corn bread was to be topped with sliced avocado, creole-spiced sauteed peppers and onions, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce (chorizo was omitted at our request). When the dish arrived, though, the eggs were scrambled rather than poached. Considering how badly my eggs were poached, this was probably a blessing in disguise... but how do scrambled eggs end up on a Benedict?! Despite that strange mix-up, and the sour hollandaise sauce, the boyfriend did enjoy his dish. We were able to score some home fries in place of the meat we'd omitted, and these were actually very tasty - well seasoned, crispy little chunks of roasted potato. I'd have to say that these potatoes were the best thing I had here. Overall I was really disappointed when I left this place. A little sad, even. As far as I'm concerned, this is an IHOP masquerading as something more. Next time I have a hankering for breakfast food, I'll be heading back to Vicki's where I know the food is solid. read more

This was just a terrible experience. The service was awful - took 20 minutes just to get the waitress to come over. My boyfriend ordered the berry pancakes which had burnt chocolate sauce on it and only 4 small strawberry slices. I ordered the Wilbur skillet and not only was it cold the avocado was rotten. Waitress was no where to be found once again. She finally came over and asked how our food was and I asked her to get the manager and take my meal off the check as I hadn't touched it and wasn't going to eat it. She didn't ask if I wanted anything else and argued with me that the avocado gets brown because it's cooked. I calmly explained that cooking an avocado does not cause it to rot. As we were trying to get the managers attention, he ran off to the kitchen to hide and when we finally got the check, there was only a 2.00 discount. Turning point, turned out to be really good. The customer service wasn't that bad as well. We did have a great waiter, he was on the dot with everything. But I do recommend that you check in online because of how packed it can get it, especially on the weekends. I ended up devouring the whole chicken and waffles, although it did have too much sauce for me I really can't complain. My boyfriend ended up really enjoying his veggie sandwich, which is funny because he really is more of a meat person . The s'mores shake was really amazing and had tons of flavor, as well as the latte I needed up getting . The only thing we seemed to disagree on was the dessert, my boyfriend ended up liking it and well I really didn't. The baked dessert consisted of apples wrapped with bacon with some cinnamon. My reason for not favoring this particular dessert was due to its flavor . The bacon was more burnt, therefore it tasted more smokey and I really couldn't get that apple flavor. It seemed to me as if it was probably over baked since the apples were also very mushy. Or maybe that's really how it's suppose to be. Than again this is my opinion, my boyfriend loved it and said he would very much order it again. He loved the combination of the flavors and didn't really mind dipping it all in the cinnamon. The fact that we overheard the managers complaining about the busboy being so slow and not doing anything about it is also unacceptable. We repeatedly had to ask about being seated. Then when we finally did, we waited another 15 minutes for anyone to come over. Table setting was incomplete and dishes and silverware was disgustingly dirty. The fork had left over egg particles on it and the plates were still soiled with who knows what. I just wish I took pictures. Again. Food was okay. Food is definitely different...Coffee is to die for...we had the costarican blend...just a near perfect kicker to start my day and get ready for the games on sunday... Revisited on a Sunday morning. The good news is they allow you to call ahead to put your name on the waiting list so the wait isn't painful. They even have a lounge area where they offer free coffee while you wait. Do yourself the favor and cal ahead on weekends. We ordered the Hawaiian French Toast which was covered in bananas, strawberries, and shredded coconut. Very tasty. They give you 3 slices, each covered with the toppings. We also had a side order of turkey sausage. 3 links cooked fresh. My daughter had the basic omelette and was impressed. The French Press Coffee of the day was the Winter Blend. It was outstanding. The service was friendly but spotty at times. The waitress forgot a third glass and it took a long time to get our 2nd pot of coffee. We had to ask for Creme because she forgot to bring it. It did take a while to get our meals. Overall, it was a very good experience. The food was very good, staff was friendly, and the prices are very fair for the amount of food and the quality. Three stars mostly for service, food was good. Upon entering we had to wait a few minutes for someone to greet and seat us. The hostess finally approached us nonchalantly while sipping on a drink. She seemed surprised that we were there. We requested a seat outside but she asked if we would rather eat inside because there were no tables outside. Most of the tables outside were open but needed to be cleared off. We asked if they could clean off a table for us and with some resistance she obliged and said the wait would be about 5-10 minutes. Once we were seated our waitress came somewhat quickly. It did take a long time for the water and drinks to come but after that service was good. The waitress accommodated my request for no dairy or meat on my dish, but when the meal came there was sausage in my meal. When we left, almost all of the tables that hadn't been bussed when we arrived had still not been cleared off. I hate to leave a bad review but I was very surprised by the lack of urgency, concern, and overall hospitality. I give a 5 for ambiance. But a 2 for food. I loved that they had call ahead seating. I thought the laptop lounge was cute. Everything was PERFECT until after our drinks arrived. Half way through my fiancés drink he found a hair. I have the house specialty and he had the Charlie's chai. I ordered the omg and it didn't make me say omg. Great idea but wasn't in love with the execution of it. They didn't even have syrup on the table to wash down the tough French toast. My fiancé had the omelet and the fruit on the side look as if it was a few days old. The service was alright but our server had no personality and came back once to check on us the entire time we were there. I went here for Mother's Day! There was a wait, as everywhere in Mother's Day, but not too bad. The food was amazing! Great portions! And the price unbelievable!
