    Bee sting pizza

The bee sting pizza is amazing! I came here with parents and for brunch. Although the place was very busy (which isn't a bad thing) the server was still attentive and friendly. The drinks were impeccable! I will definitely be back!

Came in on a Thursday around 7pm. The restaurant is dimly lit and has tables and booths. There is a large outdoor seating area as well. Our server was nice enough. Ordered a bee sting pizza, focaccia appetizer, chopped salad and the sangria, strawberry rhubarb old fashioned and peach tea Palmer. The pizza had the perfect balance of heat and sweet. The focaccia was nicely toasted and served with marinara, ricotta and pesto. And the salad was a perfect size with cheese olives tomatoes cucumbers and dried chick peas. These three items were the perfect amount for dinner for three. Great food and flavor.

Are servers Zach was amazing. The drinks were amazing. The cocktails were delicious. The food was some of the best food that we've had in a long time everyone loved their meal. My brother who had some health issues could not have large portions so they allowed him to order off the kids menu they were very accommodating for all of our needs. Clean restrooms, clean restaurant amazing food can't wait to come back to Freeport.

A busy place right on the north side of the Freeport shopping area. Parking in the back, which is very good. There is indoor, bar and patio seating. We had a nice spot inside near the windows. Two sandwiches- I had the crispy haddock sandwich. I have to say it looked fantastic but lacked in taste. Very bland. Fries were good. My husband had the chicken salad BLT and liked it. A mixed crowd inside of families and couples. Overall a nice place to enjoy lunch during a shopping trip.

To be honest, this wasn't our planned choice for dinner, but it turned out our planned restaurant was closed, so ... And to get to the bottom line quickly, we enjoyed a good meal with fine service and came away quite happy with our "discovery." The restaurant is attractive, roomy inside with tables and booths and a bar and also has delightful outside seating. Our server (thank you Laura) was quick to get to us and took good care of us throughout the meal. We were served with no delays, with the hot dishes hot and the cold beers cold. A good evening. We found the Seafood Alfredo ($38) to have just the right texture, bursting with flavor of the seafood. The calamari was a bit chewy but pretty tasty, we enjoyed the crispy Bang Bang Shrimp ($20) and the Chicken Parm Pasta ($30), and we thought the side of spinach (yep, we're spinach fans and will actually order it by itself) was very good. The dessert chocolate cake was yummy and indulgent. The menu items we thought to be just a bit on the pricey side, but it isn't altogether unexpected in this tourist area. And whatever we ate, it was better than heading to McDonalds because our planned restaurant was closed. Thanks Tuscan Bistro!

2/9/26 Service a bit off. We tried a wagyu beef sliced impossibly thin on a (?stale) savory pasta. The sausage pasta not as good as the bolognese- The panna cotta celestial! Virgin BM a ten.

After 2 days of eating bar food in Freeport we were craving something a little more sophisticated and in a sit down environment. Throw in a craving for some fresh pasta and we found Tuscan Bistro. Located smack dab in the heart of town it was nice that they have their own amply-spaced parking lot for those not already meandering about the downtown area. We went in without a res and were promptly greeted and seated with a smile. Our server Zach was kind, knowledgeable and had great timing/organization. In order to try more of the menu and not have leftovers whilst staying in a hotel we like to split apps, entrees, sides and a dessert. They were able to accommodate us and there wasn't an up charge at the time of writing this. The crab cakes were delicious. Perfect sear on the outside and full of tender crab. They aren't huge but also aren't just a pile of breading like you find many times. Our entree was a simple pasta and meatballs as good as grandma makes. The marinara was tasty and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The side of carrots were also cooked correctly and seasoned well. We finished with a lemon blueberry tart (it is Maine after all) and like everything else, it was really tasty. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't outrageous either and I never mind paying for quality. Would definitely return if in Freeport and looking for Italian.

4.75 Went in on Friday and we had the bee sting pizza and a ceasar salad, both were great. Great drinks. Fresh Swish and a gin mixer. We already made up our minds we were coming back the next day, but for entrées. Saturday we came back. Arancini perfect, great demi garden salad (plenty for even 2) i got the Wagyu filet.. ordered medium rare and it came out rare rare, didnt matter, sauce was so good i didnt even care. Our server Gage was concerned and asked me if i was okay or wanted it to go back. No thanks. He even told a manager even though i did not complain. She came over and i told her i was all set. Wife had the salmon and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Gage is an EXCELLENT waiter. Whenever we come to Freeport we will only come here.

Wow... 100% recommend this place. The food was Delicious!!! Seafood Alfredo had huge chunks of lobster, large scallops, tons of shrimp... all perfectly cooked. Soooo Good!!! Everyone else in my group ordered some type of pasta dish and not a single complaint. Service was amazing. We grab a table in the bar area... was very friendly and kept our drinks full. Loved the overall vibe. Open kitchen overlooking the entire restaurant. Plenty of Indoor and outdoor seating. Can fit small and large groups. Plenty of parking in the back.

Our server Danielle was very attentive. We had a lovely window seat to watch the rain. We had the North End Chicken Parm and a Bee Sting pizza. Both were excellent.

Stopped here for lunch the other day. It has a cozy warm atmosphere with a large bar and lots of tables. We sat at a high top in the bar area and the service was very friendly and quick. I got the chicken parm sandwich and it was very good. The pizza also looked great. There is also lots of parking out back which is nice because it can be hard to park in Freeport!

This place is PHENOMENAL. The service was great, great atmosphere and setting and the food did not disappoint. I wish food had been cheaper because I wanted to try more, but the prices aren't outrageous. The margs are great, as margs are, and they're a good price too. The lobster roll was great, although the meat was cold which was a bit disappointing but the butter that came with it was warm and made the cold meat easy to ignore. They also do free birthday dessert, which was a lovely surprise when I gave my ID to our server and after we had finished, he brought the dessert menu and told me it was free since it was my birthday. For the lobster roll, two margaritas and the birthday dessert, it came to a grand total of $60! Great presentation of the food, if you're in the Freeport area and need a good bite to eat, this is a must-go!

Chitarrucci neri ai frutti di mare (black ink chitarra pasta with seafood), however, was something I really wanted to have again. I was hoping that it would be as great as I remembered ... it was. We started with Cozze alla sambuca. I would not have thought of putting fennel or sambuca with mussels, but it was a good combination. The other players (shallot and herbs) were well balanced too. The Insalata de Cesare was fresh and well dressed, with a generous portion of shaved parmesan. The Chitarrucci was the star, with pasta cooked just right and plenty of mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and clams. If I have to be picky, the calamari may have been slightly over cooked, but I'd order this dish over and over again. (I didn't taste it, but the gentleman at the next table had a beautiful plate of ossobuco, with the osso standing up in the middle of the risotto with a sprig of herb 'planted' in the marrow. He said it was great) If you're anywhere near Boothbay, make a reservation and try Ports of Italy.

We shared a Caesar salad, which was fine, but it was nothing memorable either. We each got our own entrees, which we hadn't been doing because it's usually too much food, and since we were on a road trip, there wasn't much point to requesting doggy bags like we normally would because we wouldn't be able to eat the leftovers. Unfortunately, neither of us finished our meals... they were both tasty, but we ended up leaving food on our plates. I hate wasting food like that. I think we'll return to our one-entree-and-share-it protocol for the remainder of our trip. That seems to be working for us. My chicken dish, Pollo con Funghi, which came with tomatoes, olives and mushrooms in a white wine butter sauce seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano, was tasty, but it was too large a portion for me to finish. There was also some squash, and we had ordered a side of spinach, too. I was very sad to not have taken the remaining food for leftovers. Would've been great. My husband ordered the Ravioli di Astice, which was lobster and ricotta filled ravioli in a prosecco and aurora sauce. Not sure what aurora sauce is, but when I tasted it, the sauce was delicious. My issue with his dish was that the ravioli was severely undercooked, and it was way too chewy... definitely not al dente. They simply didn't cook it long enough, which was a shame because the flavors were excellent. Big miss for an Italian restaurant. I suppose I'd give this place another try if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Boothbay. We definitely would have to agree on one entree between the two of us, though, so we don't waste food.

I don't know if they stepped up their game, if last time I was here was an off day or if my man in the kitchen has anything to do with it. But this place lives in a while different place in my brain. Apps Asparogi Avvolti: Prosciutto wrapped asparagus with fontina cheese and balsamic glaze. Sweet young asparagus, wrapped in salty prosciutto with nutty fontina melted over the topped, drizzled with the perfect about if sweet glaze. Fried Calamari: calamari, fried cherry peppers, arugula, and cherry pepper aïoli. Fresh, breading was light and crispy. My only complaint here is there weren't enough tentacles, a lot of rings. I usually only eat tentacles because the rings are usually close cousins to rubber bands. That was not the case here, but I still wanted more tentacles. Either way very delicious. Perfect for a date night! Our server, Hannah, was great. She suggested an excellent bottle of wine that complimented all of our dishes. Customer service was a solid 10/5! This is a place to definitely add to your Portland dining list! To start, all of the dishes were wonderful portions and could easily be shared between two people. Which I absolutely love because I enjoy trying as many things as I possibly can! Arancini: This was a great starter. Absolutely delicious. I have yet to meet an arancini that I don't love. 5/5. Caesar Salad: A perfect dish that is light and necessary before getting into a heavy entree. The salad was crisp, delicious, very fresh, and a must order. 5/5. Scallop Risotto: This was a large position that had scallops in every bite! It wasn't too heavy, was not too salty, and you could taste the freshness in the ingredients. Dessert is not pictured, but it is worth ordering! The entire dessert menu was excellent!

I don't typically write a lot of reviews but when I do, it is about an experience that was either…read morereally impressive or hugely disappointing. So here goes... My daughter had been wanting to go to Via Vecchia for a while but couldn't afford it on a college student's income. So we went during my visit. My hopes were high as we walked in--a beautiful glass enclosure at the entrance that was draped with ceiling to floor ivy; an intimate but lively atmosphere; and an offering of creative cocktails...my enthusiasm quickly vanished when our appetizers arrived. We ordered the focaccia, grilled octopus, and Caesar salad. The focaccia was soggy and flavorless. Even the olive oil that accompanied the bread was flavorless. The grilled octopus was another disappointment--there were more cloves of garlic than pieces of octopus. And what little octopus was there, a third of it was charred to black. Thankfully, the Caesar salad was fresh and fairly tasty. Ironically the focaccia croutons were the highlight of the salad. Then the entrees arrived--chicken Marsala and a spicy shrimp pasta in cream sauce (can't remember the name of the dish). My daughter liked the second dish enjoying the slight kick of whatever pepper/spice was used in the recipe. For me, it was just okay. The biggest disappointment however was the chicken Marsala--the gnocchi was overcooked, the entire dish itself was too salty, and the chicken--overcooked in some parts and fairly tender in others--tasted like it came out of a can. Quite honestly, I don't know what all the hype is about. This restaurant is mediocre at best. Perhaps the cocktails numb everyone's tastebuds to the overly salty but otherwise bland dishes. It was not worth the money and I would never go again. If this is the best that Portland has to offer by way of fine Italian dining, I'd say it's time Portland redefined the meaning of "fine".
