Probably the best food option in Freeport! Reservation recommended, it gets quite busy, especially on the weekends. The interior is beautiful and service is always on par. I'm deducting one star because I've never been a big fan of the drinks/cocktails here- they always taste watered down and a little syrupy. Their pizzas, focaccia, and pasta are fantastic, clearly homemade. The bee sting is my go-to pizza. I enjoy splitting that with a dining companion and splitting a family-sized caesar salad. we were super excited when we walked into this venue. It was so beautiful & rustic. Very fitting for our New England road trip. The restaurant was very busy so we chose a high top (self seating) by the bar. Service was on point! Had drinks then started with a Caesar Salad, a little heavily dressed but delish! After a flight from Charleston and a few hours of shopping in Freeport, we stopped at Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro for a late lunch. The ambiance here is a bit fancy, with dim lighting and very attentive service. We chose to eat inside, as it was a bit chilly, but you can eat on the patio and it is dog friendly, as everywhere in Freeport seems to be. We left our car parked near the outlets and walked, but there is a small parking lot in the back. If you visit, you must start your meal with the baked focaccia! It comes with marinara, pesto, and olive oil/balsamic, and is absolutely wonderful with any sauces or on its own, and the bread is light so you won't fill up before your entree comes. My husband and I shared one, so heads up to order several if you have a large party. Since we were going hiking later, I kept things light and had the spinach and pear salad with extra dressing on the side (order this- it needed the extra dressing). My husband had a pastrami sandwich. While the salad wasn't bad, I wouldn't order it again. The small plates on others' tables looked delicious and are probably the way to go if you come here wanting light bites. I felt like Tuscan Bistro was a bit pricey for lunch, although if you want to eat at an upscale restaurant, lunch is a less expensive option than dinner. They also have a happy hour from 2-5 on weekdays (except Friday), and that might be a good bet as well. read more

We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful Maine weather. I started with the Lobster Bisque which was creamy and hard large chunks of lobster in it; I even got a whole claw! This place was clean and very pleasant. I'm not sure why. It might have been end of summer tourists' fatigue, but some food was great, and the other was terrible. My wife had strawberry salad with grilled chicken. They forgot the chicken. She also had the muscles, and they were great. I ordered the chicken parm because it was served fresh homemade spaghetti. It was awful. The spaghetti was way under cooked , very doughy, and the chicken patty was dry and overcooked. The edges literally broke off. Additionally, the server never asked us if we wanted drinks, but their was water on the table. I thought it was very expensive considering the quality of the food and service. Honestly, not the best experience. I've eaten here many times, but this was the least impressive by far. Maybe it's because we had a later reservation (7:45), but it was not as good as usual. The server was pleasant, but forgot a drink order until we reminded him, plus he only filled our water glasses once. The mussels were out of this world, just fantastic. The pasta under my Bolognese was cold in places, which was disappointing. The tasty truffle fries under the short rib were tasty, but came out warm - not hot. And the short rub wasn't as tender and juicy as you'd expect. The chicken parmigiana was good, and probably the best entree that came to the table. We appreciated GF pasta options. The decor is, as it's been since opening, was homey and comfortable, although it feels like the chairs have been replaced and are not as good a fit with the decor as they used to be. Wanted a restaurant close to the Hilton Garden Inn that we could walk to. We have been driving all day and we wanted to stretch our legs. I did a search online and I'm happy we found Tuscan Bistro. We sat at the bar and Emma was our bartender/server and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. She was very personable and professional and makes a very good dirty Martini. We didn't want a lot to eat so we ordered a Pizza. Fantastic! This is not a cheap place to eat but compared to others in the area, and especially coming from Bar Harbor it wasn't bad. If we are ever in the area again we'll return. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I don't do that very often. read more

This restaurant was a "go to" during Covid, we would order a pizza (not cooked) and a salad and dine at home. We haven't been for awhile and on whim decided to go out on Saturday evening. Not the smartest whim - but we got there at 4:30 and after getting soaked going from the parking lot to the front door we scored two seats at the bar - one of our favorite places to sit!
